540 [Non-Attack]

The Monthly, which had had a profound impact in the 20s, had ceased publication by this time.

The reason for this was simple: the Nanjing Nationalist Government exercised strict control over the publishing industry, and the Commercial Press, the major shareholder of the Monthly, was afraid of causing trouble, so it immediately ordered the editor-in-chief to strictly control the content of the serialized articles.

Ye Shengtao, Zheng Zhenduo and others were deeply dissatisfied with this and resigned from their editorial positions one after another, causing the "Monthly News" to lose its backbone. Not only did the content deteriorate, but even the quality of the content in other sections was greatly reduced, and regular readers abandoned the magazine.

It was not until last year that the Japanese invaded Shanghai, and the Commercial Press suffered heavy losses and officially announced the closure of the "Monthly Bulletin".

At the beginning, Zhou Hexuan's "The Goddess" and "Dog Official" were serialized in "Monthly" and became famous, but now they can only be serialized in another magazine.

Zhou Hexuan's choice is to start his own book.

The China Branch of the International Anti-Fascist Alliance, under the contact of Zhou Hexuan, already had 68 members at this time, including literati such as Hu Shi and Xu Zhimo, as well as scholars such as Ma Heng, Li Ji, and Chen Yinke, as well as scientists, social activists, politicians, and so on.

Anyway, everyone often writes to share their views on anti-war and peace. Then, according to the emotional intimacy and geographical distance, they were gathered into different discussion groups, and everyone occasionally came out to sit together and chat nonsense.

Well, it's similar to the post bar or forum in later generations.

Usually writing letters to communicate is equivalent to chatting and farting on the Internet. Then divide into different discussion groups, talk about hobbies and hobbies, and make an appointment for an offline meeting when you have time.

It can be said that the "China Branch of the International Anti-Fascist League" established by Zhou Hexuan has absolutely no combat effectiveness, organization, or threat at all.

When Chang Kaishen learned that Zhou Hexuan had formed a group, he immediately sent the Blue Coat Society to inquire about the situation. After learning the specific information, Chang Kaishen only smiled and said: "A purely academic organization doesn't have to worry about it." ”

For example, Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin are now members of the organization. The salon held by their family every week is equivalent to an offline gathering of Peking members, but in fact, the topics of conversation are still those, but they are more inclined to practical problems.

Zhou Hexuan wanted to serialize a new article this time, so he simply took the opportunity to start a new magazine, "Non-Offensive", the journal of the China Branch of the International Anti-Fascist Alliance.

Originally, the journal was intended to be called "Non-War" or "Anti-War", but these two terms now represent the forces of the international left. In order to avoid causing unnecessary trouble, Zhou Hexuan simply quoted the Mohist ideology and advocated "non-attack".

In order to establish this journal, Zhou Hexuan specially took a telegram to call Zhu Xiang back to Tianjin.

Zhu Xiang, this guy is the same as in history, his temper has not changed at all. A few years ago, he went to the United States to study, but he changed schools four times in three years.

Zhu Xiang was first studying at Lawrence University because a professor read aloud an article comparing Chinese to monkeys in class. Zhu Xiang argued with the professor on the spot, and finally broke up unhappily, and he angrily left Lawrence University and transferred to the University of Chicago.

Later, the situation was basically the same, basically every six months, Zhu Xiang had to fall out with his teacher or classmates.

In the end, Zhu Xiang did not get his degree certificate, so he chose to return to China. The reason for that withdrawal was that the professor at the school suspected him of borrowing books and did not return them, and an American female classmate refused to be a table with him. Zhu Xiang believes that the professor and the female classmate are discriminating against his Chinese identity and resolutely refuses to study in the United States.

After returning to China, Zhu Xiang was recommended by a friend to be the head of the English Department of Anhui University, with a monthly salary of 300 yuan. However, because the school changed the name of the English department without authorization and interfered in the affairs of the department, he fell out with the principal directly.

When Zhou Hexuan learned about this time, he recommended Zhu Xiang to Fudan University. This guy only taught at Fudan University for three months, and because the school suppressed the students' anti-Japanese activities, he directly led the student representatives to make trouble in the president's office.

In the last year alone, Zhu Xiang changed three jobs, and he was so poor that he couldn't even get the money for his wife's medical treatment.

If Zhou Hexuan doesn't pull a hand now, Zhu Xiang is likely to be insane as he was in history, and finally chose to commit suicide by throwing himself into the water.

In addition to Zhu Xiang, Zhou Hexuan also hired a female writer Lu Yin.

A few years ago, Lu Yin was bothered by the rumors because she was playing sister and brother love, and followed her husband to study in Japan. After the outbreak of the 918 Incident, Lu Yin immediately chose to return to China and created her masterpiece "The Old Man on the Seaside" in Shanghai.

If Zhou Hexuan doesn't stand up to help, Lu Yin will die of dystocia at home next year because he has no money to go to the hospital.

Zhou Hexuan directly appointed Lu Yin as the editor-in-chief of "Non-Attack" magazine, Zhu Xiang as deputy editor-in-chief, and hired Zhu Ziqing, Xu Zhimo, Hu Shi and others as long-term writers.

Zhu Xiang has no opinion on this arrangement, he knows that he is not good at management and coordination, and honestly gives Lu Yin a hand.

As for the column section of "Non-Offensive", it is roughly divided into five parts: international current affairs, Japan's national conditions, Northeast news, theoretical current reviews, and anti-war literature.

International current affairs news is submitted by international students from all over the world.

Introduction to Japan's national conditions, provided by international students in Japan - there are a lot of manuscripts in this regard, and students who are stranded in Japan and cannot return to China spontaneously collect all the information about Japan, hoping to let China know more about Japan and facilitate the future War of Resistance against Japan. As a result, many international students were arrested by the Japanese authorities on charges of "espionage".

The content of the Northeast News is provided by the Northeast Civil Anti-Japanese Salvation Association. Including the atrocities of the Japanese army in the Northeast, the atrocities of the puppet Manchukuo in the Northeast, and the heroic deeds of the civil anti-Japanese groups, etc.

The part of the theoretical commentary is the analysis and discussion of domestic and foreign forms, most of which are written by Zhou Hexuan.

As for anti-war literature, each issue consists of a long serial, as well as three short stories.

To put it bluntly, this is a magazine that allows the people to understand the world, Japan, and Northeast China, and resist Japanese aggression.

Non-offensive does not mean opposing war, but opposing unjust war.

In the frontispiece of the inaugural issue of "Fei Offensive", Zhou Hexuan wrote:

"I am not against war when I am founding the magazine Non-Offensive, not to appeal to the war, not to call on our compatriots not to resist. The sage Mozi's view of war was that he believed that war would delay people's livelihood, kill people, and overthrow society, so he called for peace.

But is Mr. Mozi against all wars?

Of course not.

What he opposed was the "attack on the innocent country", that is, against the war of aggression. At the same time, he advocated "exterminating the unenlightened king", that is, supporting a just war.

Today's invasion of China is an unjust war. When China rises up to resist, it is a righteous self-defense.

The non-attackers should be our 40,000,000 Chinese compatriots, who will unite as one and work together to drive the Japanese invaders out of the Chinese territory, and this is the correct way to win peace. Blindly retreating and blindly not resisting can only stimulate the ambition of the wolf son of the Japanese invaders.

Is it possible for a robber to break into the house and you ask him to move only the belongings from the living room? Robbers will come and rob you of all your belongings. He will even occupy your house, enslave your wife and children, and become the master of this house.

Can the land of the four northeastern provinces fill the desire of the Japanese invaders? No.

The Japanese invaded Taiwan, occupied the Korean Peninsula, and now have occupied the four northeastern provinces. It is impossible for them to stop their aggression, and now they are encroaching on Chahar and Hebei. Their next target will be the whole of North China, then Northwest, Central China, South China, East China, and Southwest China......

If you blindly tolerate it, the land of Shenzhou will be dominated by the Japanese invaders. If we blindly tolerate it, our 40,000,000 compatriots will all become slaves of the country!

The purpose of this magazine is to call for the whole people to resist the war.

Regardless of class, old or young, male or female, they all have the responsibility of defending the land and resisting the war. Only by resisting aggression can we win a precious peace. ”

On July 1, 1933, the journal of the Chinese branch of the International Anti-Fascist League, "Non-Offensive", was officially launched in Tianjin, and the first chapter of "Black Soil" began to be serialized at the same time.
