581 Demon Monk

"Brother Taixu, farewell!"

"Brother Zhou, goodbye!"

Zhou Hexuan stayed in Nanputuo Temple for three days because he liked to chat with Master Taixu. Of course, during this period, he also participated in the temple Buddha bathing festival and gave a patriotic speech to the monks of the Buddhist college.

The theory of the great monk Taixu is very interesting, and he has a unique insight into Buddhism. He was a staunch opponent of the "theory of samsaric liberation" and believed that everyone could become a Buddha as soon as they broke out of the cage.

This is typical of "Zen" thought, but it doesn't stop there. Because he also called on the monks to actively join the WTO, be self-reliant, work hard, and even combine patriotism with Buddhist practice, and called on the monks to work hard to build a pure land on earth.

Zhou Hexuan was most interested in the historiographical views of the Taixu monk. He regarded the entire history of mankind as a "history of freedom and anti-freedom", and wrote an atypical Buddhist work, The View of Liberal History.

It was the first time that Zhou Hexuan knew that someone had used a Buddhist point of view to explain historical development.

When leaving Nanputuo Temple, Zhou Hexuan asked the monk Taixu for two copies of "The Concept of Freedom History" as a relief for boredom during the trip.

Aboard.

Yu Peichen was so angry that he almost threw the book into the sea, and said angrily: "Demon monk, that's a demon monk!" ”

"Hahahaha!"

Zhou Hexuan couldn't help laughing: "Master Taixu's point of view is very interesting." ”

Yu Peichen retorted: "Where is interesting, it is simply an unwarranted smear of communism!" ”

Zhou Hexuan said with a smile: "The stones of other mountains can attack jade." It is also an interesting perspective to explain communism from a Buddhist point of view. ”

Yu Peichen was so angry that she refused to speak anymore, because "The View of Free History" stimulated her too much.

Zhou Hexuan found it particularly interesting to read, and he completely read Master Taixu's "View of Liberal History" as a historical work, rather than a serious Buddhist work.

The book is divided into five parts, the first part of which summarizes the history of human freedom and the history of anti-freedom, the second part expounds the principles of ancient autocracy, the third part discusses the modern liberal movement, the fourth part discusses the Buddhist view of liberalism, and the fifth part explores world education, social economy, and international politics under the view of liberal history.

It's hard for you to imagine that this book was written by a monk.

It is normal to mention Laozi, Zhuangzi, and Confucius in the book, but he also mentions Jesus, the Garden of Eden, the Stone Age, primitive civilizations, domestication and breeding, early temples, Lydia (the ancient kingdom of the Middle East), Sumada (the early peoples of the Mesopotamian plain), Wales (the author of the Compendium of World History), Marx, Egypt, India, Mongolia, ......

Regardless of whether his ideological views are correct or not, based on these contents alone, we know that Monk Taixu is a scholar who is proficient in world history.

What made Yu Peichen angry was the book's discourse on communism, and the chapter was titled "The Anti-Freedom of Materialist Communist Imperialism." There are two other chapters in the front, namely "God's Power Imperialism: Anti-Freedom" and "Self-Interested Imperialism: Anti-Freedom".

In these three chapters, Master Taixu sprays all the major powers of the world, and refers to the political system of the Soviet Union as imperialism.

Let's take a few excerpts about communism -

"Socialism that arose after the development of modern materialist science is about three factions: those with a national government, there are Marxist communism and Celt-Communism-socialism; If there is no state government, it is anarcho-communism-anarchism; The slogan of the anarchist party says: Our party has no motherland, and the earth is the motherland; There is no God in our party, and freedom is God; There is no god, no state, no government, no private property, but it is free from the earth. ”

Therefore, Celt and Anarchie are both free and not materialistic. Marxist communism, on the other hand, advocates a war between the working class and the bourgeoisie with a historical materialist view, and that the workers should seize the national government and take power in order to realize a communist society. So there are even more other reasons, and the materialistic communist imperialism of Red Russia has emerged at the right time. ”

Based on the above content alone, we know that the monk Taixu is also very good at studying communist theory, at least he can distinguish the many factions of communism.

He also held the Soviet Union to death, believing that the means of production and labor were material, and the communist theory was also materialistic, but when put into a country, it soon became a spiritual weapon, which was dominated and used by the leaders of the Soviet party, just as the Christian church dominated the faith. Although the Soviet people overthrew Tsarist rule, they went down another unfree path.

As a believer in communism, Yu Peichen was of course angry when he read this.

Of course, the Taixu monk not only blackened the Soviet Union, but he also sprayed all the world powers. Perhaps for fear of being sealed, the monk Taixu boasted about the Three People's Doctrine by the way, but also pointed out that the Three People's Doctrine is not complete and needs to continue to work hard.

After reading this book "The Concept of Liberal History", Zhou Hexuan's biggest impression was that the monk Taixu was a utopian socialist...... Well, to be precise, a utopian Buddhist. He wants to create a utopian Buddha country, that is, the Pure Land on Earth!

In this Buddha country, it is not to force everyone to believe in Buddhism, or even not to believe in Buddhism, but to make everyone free and happy, so that everyone can be fed, clothed, and not oppressed.

Well, it's pretty much the same as the ultimate ideal of communism.

If you put it in the ancient society of a few hundred years ago, Master Taixu would probably have become a Zhang Jiao-like figure, and he even put forward his own educational, economic, and political ideas - although these ideas seem naΓ―ve, some of them are not lacking in highlights.

Yu Peichen saw Zhou Hexuan laughing, and asked worriedly, "Could it be that Mr. Zhou agrees with that demon monk's theory?" ”

"Of course, it's impossible to agree, I just find his ideas very interesting," Zhou Hexuan said, "and to explain the entire human history and world politics from a religious point of view, which I have never encountered before, and I am greatly inspired by some of the views." ”

Yu Peichen said: "But many of his views are nonsense! ”

Zhou Hexuan nodded and said: "It's really nonsense, your understanding of him is very correct, from a certain point of view, he is a 'demon monk', if he is put in a feudal society, maybe he will become another horn." But his mind is healthy, bright from beginning to end, and he can never become a cult leader. How can I say that this person has blended the ideas of Zen Buddhism, Pure Land Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, utopian socialism, liberalism, pacifism, materialism, and communism, and has been able to justify himself to a certain extent, which is very commendable. ”

"The more this happens, the more dangerous it becomes, it's too confusing," Yu Peichen said with some panic, "The discussion in the first few chapters of his book actually made me think it was true, and I didn't wake up until he slandered communism." ”

Zhou Hexuan corrected: "He did not denigrate communism, he attacked the Soviet political system. ”

Yu Peichen said: "It's all the same. ”

Zhou Hexuan shrugged, too lazy to refute.
