Huineng has experienced such a state of mind. In fact, everyone in the world has experienced such a state of mind. And today, by chance, Huineng took the initiative to realize it, experience it, recognize it, and grasp it.
Huineng retreated to the edge of the mountain forest, picked up the landed firewood neatly with his hands and feet, and after a while, he bundled two large bundles. He picked up his shoulders and walked slowly up the mountain path.

The monk asked, "Don't understand?" ”
Huineng replied, "No." Ask the master to explain. ”
"Okay, I'll make it clear to you this time, you heard clearly." The monk chanted:
Walking north and south of the east and west streets, I met people biting dogs when I went out. Pick up the dog's head and smash the brick, but I'm afraid that the brick will bite my hand.

The big fat monk laughed and walked away. Huineng stands at the head of the single-plank bridge, and the green water under the bridge is still flowing.
Huineng saw that it was getting late, so he picked up the load of firewood and walked on the mountain forest path on the way back.
Passing by the waterhole in the middle of the mountain forest, Huineng was attracted by the scenery here and couldn't help but stop. The gorgeous sunset, like overturned paint, sprinkled into the sky, set off the bright red sunset. And the sunset is like a drunken poet, thrown into the waterhole like a river and lake, swaying and dyeing the clear water of the river into a dazzling bright red, flickering, rolling, and emitting a red glow to the sky from time to time.

The moon reflected in the water, the cloudless sky....... this situation, this scene, Huineng touched the scene, and the brain was opened, "There is water in a thousand rivers, a thousand rivers and a moon, and there are no clouds in the sky" These two Buddhist sayings of a very high realm actually came out of his mouth.
What an open realm! At this time, in Huineng's view, water is water, and the moon is the moon, because of the illumination of the moon, there is a moon in the water, and the moon is in the water. But the moon in the water is not a moon, but an illusion of water; The moon is in the water and is the reflection of the water. It's a bit of a sense of right and wrong, right and wrong.
As Vajra Prajnaparamita said, in the hearts of thousands of people, there are thousands of Buddhas. Ten thousand Buddhas are like thousands of rivers and moons, and ten thousand Buddhas are one Buddha. Seeking Buddha with your heart is like fishing for the moon in water. The heart has nothing to ask for, it is as safe as stopping water, and the heart Buddha corresponds, and this heart is the Buddha.
Buddhism: Everyone can be a bodhisattva, Bodhi means enlightenment, Sa means sentient beings, and Bodhisattva is a practitioner who is a prophet and a practitioner who benefits sentient beings. In my impression, Buddhism is not very demanding on the ritual of initiation, the so-called "there is a Buddha in the heart, and seeing people is the Buddha", and there is also a saying of "putting down the butcher's knife and becoming a Buddha on the ground".
Although there are many believers in Buddhism, the reasons and purposes for taking refuge in Buddhism are different, just like "a thousand rivers have water and a thousand rivers and a moon" - there is only one month, but because of the difference in water, it reflects a thousand different reflections. There are many exquisite stories in Zen Buddhism, and the "epiphany" that Zen Buddhism talks about is the best embodiment of Buddhism's desire to return to the Buddha nature in human nature.
Those who are not enlightened follow the precepts of Buddhism meticulously, and gain peace of mind in following them;
Those who will be enlightened will gradually understand the essence of Buddhism in the process of following it;
Those who have had an epiphany have already understood the true meaning of Buddhism, transcendent from things, and no longer confined by rules. After all, "Qin Shi Mingyue Han Shiguan" only exists in the poet's fantasy, the vicissitudes of life, today's moon is by no means the moon of ancient times, and the moon of tomorrow is not today's month.
There is water in the river, there is a moon in the sky, as long as there is water in a thousand rivers, there will be a moon on a thousand rivers; There are clouds in the sky, and the clouds are the sky, as long as there are no clouds in the sky, then the sky is blue for all the miles.
"Thousands of rivers have water and thousands of rivers and moons", the moon is like Buddha nature, thousands of rivers are like sentient beings, rivers are not big or small, there is water and there is a moon; People do not distinguish between high and low, but if they are human, they have Buddha nature. Buddha-nature is in the human heart, omnipresent; Just like the moon shining on the river, everything is reflected. Any sentient being, as long as he has the heart to learn Buddhism, he will have Buddha nature, and any river, as long as there is water, it will have a bright moon. The moonlight is bright, and the Buddha nature is self-sufficient; The sky and the moon shine everywhere, the Buddha nature is omnipresent, and the Tao is omnipresent.
"There are clouds in the sky, and there are clouds in the sky, and the sky is above the clouds. As long as there are no clouds in the sky, then the sky will be blue for all miles. Heaven can be regarded as the Buddha's mind, and clouds are material desires and afflictions. When the troubles and material desires are gone, the nature of the Buddha's mind will naturally appear.
When the fake is true, the truth is also false, and there is sometimes non-action. Buddha-nature, between being and not being; The world is wandering between the virtual and the real. If so, whether it is the moon, water, dreams, or sorrows, when I go to the Buddha's house, the verse says: All watermarks in January, and all water in January. What a realm!
