Because he had participated in the last uncovered conference and seen this Buddhist treasure, he naturally understood that this was the Buddha's tooth relic. Then he put his hands together, bowed sincerely, and recited "Amitabha"

Master Jiexian was also very pleased to see Wang Xuance so pious, and only listened to him slowly say his thoughts: "I invite Wang Changshi to bring this supreme treasure of Buddhism to the east and hand it over to Xuanzang, so that he can live a good life and worship, so as to carry forward my liberation sect!" ”

Wang Xuance was quite surprised when he heard what Master Jiexian said, and hurriedly refused: "This matter must not be, this supreme treasure, originally it was a thing of the five Indians, although now Nalanda Temple is a little desolate by the traitor of Alona Shun, but now the new king Liluoja, who is also the king of benevolence and righteousness, will uphold the ambition of the king of the precepts and his mother, Queen Raja, to carry forward Buddhism, not to mention that a few days ago, I talked about this matter with him, he was also quite tempted, and he was determined to revive Buddhism, how could this thing be lost in the Tang Dynasty?" ”

After hearing his refusal, Venerable Jiexian said to him again in a serious tone: "As I mentioned just now, the decline of this Buddha Gate in the Five Indias was not formed overnight, let alone the policy of this Alona to destroy the Buddha and revive the Brahman. It's because over the years, the people of my liberation have withered; And the result of the rise of Brahmanism. Even if the current great king Lyraja revives Buddhism, according to the old monk's prediction, within 50 years, Buddhism will still decline in our five Indias; Rather than let this supreme treasure of Buddhism be destroyed in these five Indias, it is better to send it in advance to a place where the Buddha can carry forward! ”

Listening to Master Jiexian's words, Wang Xuance was also shocked. How did Buddhism come to an end in these five Indian lands? Please ask Venerable Jiexian again for the reason.

After listening to a long sigh, Venerable Jiexian replied: "The caste system and Brahmanism have been spread in India for thousands of years, and have long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. However, the difference is that it advocates the equality of all beings and opposes this surname system. However, because of human nature, the caste system is more viable in these five Indian lands, and although there have been several major changes, it has never been extinct. I think that in the past two missions to India, you have already felt the strong vitality of this surname system! Although manpower can influence the result and change the result, because of the withering of talents in recent years, the rise of many Brahmanical commentators has made the Buddha gradually decline, which you should also feel! ”

Wang Xuance, thinking carefully about what he saw and heard along the way, is indeed just as Master Jiexian said, so he is also quite sorry!

At this time, I only heard Master Jiexian ask again: "I wonder if Changshi noticed anything when I was sweeping the floor just now?" ”

Hearing this question, Wang Xuan Cezai carefully recalled the scene just now: the figure of the mage dancing the broom, the posture of the leaf, the color of the leaf, the direction of the leaf, and so on, all presented in front of his eyes, but he did not realize anything at all! I could only helplessly say to the master: "I really haven't understood the master's intentions in my later life!" ”

Venerable Jiexian smiled slightly, and then asked, "Have you ever noticed the direction in which this fallen leaf falls, whether it lands on the ground on the front side or on the back side?" ”

At this time, Wang Xuance recalled that there seemed to be a lot of fallen leaves, all of which landed head-on, so he blurted out "It's all frontal landing!" ”

"What Changshi said is true, indeed, this fallen leaf is landing head-on." Therefore, the Venerable Master said to him in a serious voice: "In your eastern land, not only are there four distinct seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter, but there are also subtle changes in the 24 solar terms; Unlike our five Indians, there is only a dry season and a rainy season. When spring arrives, everything revives, and the leaves follow the call of the season, happily blooming with green smiles. With the passage of seasons, the climate warms, and in the summer, it also provides a comfortable shade for the working people; When the flowers are in full bloom, it prefers to be a foil, so that all the flowers are extremely delicate, out of the limelight, and enjoy the singing. In autumn, when the end of their stage is announced, they will not hesitate to wave for a curtain call. When it falls to the earth, it basically faces the earth, hugging and kissing it, revealing the veins and bones of life to any gaze that pays attention to it. And the supreme treasure of this Buddha, like a leaf, has ended his mission in these five Indian lands; It should be in this eastern land, like the sprout of spring, to show his new life, do you understand? ”

Hearing this, Wang Xuance is not good at shirking anything, it is true that this precept and virtuous master is full of heartfelt words, and it is also an endless philosophy of life. So he accepted this supreme treasure of Buddhism; Since then, this Buddha tooth relic has been passed on to the eastern soil, and it is still showing its glory to this day!

Since we have talked about the supreme treasure of Buddhism, we should make clear the context of its inheritance. Since the death of the Buddha Shakyamuni at the age of 80 in 486 B.C., his disciple Ananda has found more than 80,000 relics from the ashes, among which two Buddha tooth relics, one Buddha finger relics and one Buddha parietal bone relics are the most valued. Soon after Shakyamuni's initiation, he heard that he had left behind a large number of relics, and the kings of the eight countries immediately sent troops under the Acropolis of Kapila to fight for these relics by force.

At this critical moment, a nobleman intervened and suggested that the relics be divided equally in order to avoid war. This suggestion was immediately accepted by the eight kings. Subsequently, they divided the relics into eight equal parts, and each of the eight countries invited back a share and built a pagoda to worship. This is the "Eight Kings Divide the Relics" in the history of Buddhism.

One of the kings brought back the empty bottle that had been filled with relics and built a pagoda to house the shrines. The late Peacock King failed to get the relics, so he had to bring the ashes left behind by Shakyamuni Buddha back to build a pagoda to make offerings. In this way, in ancient India, ten large pagodas were built to enshrine the relics of Shakyamuni Buddha. "Praise of the Buddha" said: "Eight kings rise from eight pagodas, golden bottles and gray charcoal." If it is Yan Futi, it starts from the Ten Towers", which refers to this matter.
