As they savor the fragrance of tea, reminisce about the true meaning of life, and talk about Buddhist life. I never thought that Li Shimin had already taken the little attendant outside this meditation hall, and listened quietly for a long time, but because he couldn't bear to disturb Master Xuanzang's Yaxing, he didn't come in.
Taking advantage of the slight pause in their conversation, they walked in with joy......
When the two found that His Majesty had been listening quietly for a long time, they hurriedly got up and apologized. Li Shimin was quite generous, waving his hand to show that they didn't have to mind. As Li Shimin faced the window, Master Xuanzang and Wang Xuance also sat around the table under Li Shimin's gift.
After Master Xuanzang personally poured a fragrant tea for His Majesty, this Li Shimin gently pinched the plain tea cup, smacked it, and said gently: "These days, Master Zhenguan's opinions and arguments, elegant words, and chaste manners, do not belong to the ancients at all, but are actually the talents of public auxiliaries." ”
"Your Majesty has won the award, Xuanzang is just a shamen, and he is only very familiar with Buddhist classics."
Hearing this, but seeing that Li Shimin was full of sincerity, he said thoughtfully: "That being the case, I don't know if the mage is still vulgar, so as to assist me and govern the world." ”
Hearing His Majesty's original intention, both of them glanced at Li Shimin with surprise, and found that it was not like when they were joking. After a little thought, Master Xuanzang replied:
When Xuanzang heard His Majesty's words, he was not only very moved, but also admired His Majesty's desire to seek talent. Ran Xuanzang has taken refuge in Buddhism since he was a child and studied the methods of various sects; So far, I don't know the original meaning of Confucianism, let alone a strategy for governing the country. If it is still vulgar, it is like taking a boat with the river, abandoning the waterway and taking the land route. Not only did it not take credit, but it dragged His Majesty behind; Xuanzang is willing to rely on his lifelong practice to repay His Majesty's kindness with the way of Buddhism. If this is the case, Xuanzang is very lucky! After these sincere words, I saw Master Xuanzang, who hurriedly got up, knelt on the ground and bowed to Li Shimin.
Looking at this sincere heart, Li Shimin can't say anything more. Therefore, he stretched out his hand to help Master Xuanzang and agreed to his request. After he took another sip of tea, he wanted to ask Master Xuanzang about the story he encountered on his westward journey.
Hearing this, Master Xuanzang happily started from Liangzhou before this, along the Yumen Pass, talked about Yiwu, and talked about Gaochang. When talking about Gaochang, he deliberately mentioned that he was warmly retained by the king of Gaochang and sent gold and silver. In the face of his kindness, Master Xuanzang also promised that when he returned from seeking the Dharma, he would speak in Gaochang for three years, and he never thought that when he returned, Lu Wentai was already ancient.
Hearing this, Li Shimin interrupted Master Xuanzang's words and laughed: "I never thought that this Lu Wentai would be so courteous to the master. I think that back then, this Liwen Taiyang violated the yin, secretly united with the Western Turks, blocked the trade routes of our Western Regions, and often violated Yiwu. I have recruited him many times to enter the court, but he always excuses himself to shirk it, so in the thirteenth year of Zhenguan, when he invaded Yiwu again, I specially ordered Hou Junji, the head of the marching road, to wave his army to Gaochang, never thinking that the army had not yet arrived, he was already scared to death. ”
With Li Shimin's words, Wang Xuance answered: "This is the end of the villain, the bad things have been done, and I want to pray for the blessing of the Buddha, I am really ashamed of my sincerity to the master." This person who violates the yang and the yin, does not seal the will of the court, and if he disagrees, he wantonly encroaches on neighboring countries. It is in response to that proverb: Gaochang soldiers and horses are like frost and snow, Tang soldiers and horses are like the sun and moon, the sun and moon shine on frost and snow, and they will be wiped out by return! ”
It is precisely in this way that even if a diligent and upright person does not practice the Dharma, as long as he believes in the Buddha, he will have the blessing of the Buddha. In other words, no matter who you are, as long as you have good thoughts, the Buddha is in your heart. And greedy people, no matter how much money they offer, they can't eliminate the evil thoughts of this world," Master Xuanzang also said along with their words.
Hearing this, the three of them also looked at each other and smiled, and their moods were calm.
After Master Xuanzang finished telling the interesting story of his journey to the west, he saw Wang Xuance's mind flash, and he said: "Since Master Xuanzang knows so much about the countries of the Western Regions, and has also traveled to more than 100 countries, this is an unprecedented feat. I wonder if the Venerable Master can compile this trip into a book for future generations."
"Yes, yes, what Xuan Ce said is very good. I thought it could be divided into: the territory, the number of people, the age of four, the clothing, the written education, the food, the religion, the taxes and products, etc., as detailed as the Classic of Mountains and Seas," Li Shimin was also pleased to suggest to Master Xuanzang.
Hearing the words of the two, Master Xuanzang also felt that he should leave this book for future generations, so he opened his mouth and asked His Majesty: "In this case, then please ask Your Majesty to give you a title!" ”
But when he saw this Li Shimin, he thought about it and said: "Then call it "The Legend of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty"."
So, in the days that followed, the majestic and magnificent "Records of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty" was born under the dictation of Master Xuanzang and the handwriting of the monk Xuanzang.
This book not only points out the direction for Chinese historians to study the history of Tianzhu in the Western Regions. The more chaotic and dark history of India has left a brilliant light.
