Hearing Master Xuanzang's approval, Li Zhi was also quite pleased, and asked him to give one personally, so after some thought, he said: "I still remember that Master you once told me such a story: At the beginning, Buddhism was divided into Mahayana and Hinayana Buddhism, and Hinayana Buddhism did not taboo meat, and one day, the monks of a Hinayana monastery could not buy meat to cook, so they could only stark at the sky in a daze with a hungry stomach. Even so, this day happened to be the day of the Buddha's almsgiving, and a group of geese flew by in the sky, and one of the monks looked at the geese and said to himself, there is no meat to eat in the monk's room today, and the Buddha of great compassion will not forget what day it is. As soon as the words fell, the leading wild goose broke its wings and fell to the ground. So the monks of the whole temple were shocked and realized that this wild goose was clearly the incarnation of the Buddha. The Buddha's original intention was to warn them not to kill, and the monks of this monastery also realized the true meaning of the Buddha and converted to Mahayana Buddhism. Since the Buddha can incarnate as a wild goose, he admonishes people not to kill; And our stone pagoda is also used to promote Buddhism and store scriptures, so I might as well call it the Wild Goose Pagoda. ”
