Huineng nodded vigorously, with tears in his eyes, and muttered: "I didn't expect it, I didn't expect that my own nature turned out to be clean and pure; Unexpectedly, self-nature turned out to be immortal; Unexpectedly, the self-nature turned out to be fully satisfied; Unexpectedly, self-nature turned out to be silent and unmoving; Unexpectedly, it turned out that the ten thousand laws were born from their own nature. ”

Master Hongren nodded while listening, and when Huineng finished speaking, his old man happily patted Huineng on the top of his head and said, "Not bad, really good!" Your understanding, your root apparatus, is beyond the imagination of the teacher! It's finally worth my hard work. ”

Master Hongren also said, "If you don't realize your own nature, even if you try to study the Dharma, it will be useless to practice hard. Once you know your own nature, you are a great husband, a heavenly teacher, and a Buddha! ”

Master Hongren stood up, came to Huineng, and said solemnly: "You have realized the supreme avenue of the universe, and from now on, you are the sixth generation patriarch of Zen Buddhism!" Master Hongren took off the big red robe on his body and draped it on Huineng's body with a solemn expression.

At the beginning, before the Buddha was enlightened, he was not called Shakyamuni. "Shakya" is the abbreviation of the Shakya clan, and "Muni" refers to the enlightened one. At that time, his name was Siddhartha, and he was a crown prince who had renounced his right to inherit the throne. He had been practicing asceticism in the forest for six years, and had gone through all kinds of painful suffering, but the only thing he had learned was that he had finally understood that excessive detention and even physical abuse could not lead to enlightenment, and that the key was to be pure in heart.

So, he went into the Nirenzen River to bathe. The clear water of the river not only washed away the dirt on his body, but also seemed to wash his soul. Relaxed and full of joy, he went to the riverside forest and sat down under a linden tree.

"If you don't become enlightened, you won't leave this seat." Siddhartha swore in his heart. Then he went into deep meditation. In meditation, the scenery is infinite, here, his mind is as open as heaven and earth, he can clearly feel the unity of mind and body, the harmony of life and death, all shackles have been lifted, all obstacles have disappeared, his heart, his life, merge with the space of heaven and earth, and assimilate with the whole universe......

Everything is born of the harmony of all fate, and there is no real self in everything!

Without any warning, without any hint, when he subconsciously opened his eyes, suddenly, as if bursting out, the brightest morning star arose in the eastern sky!

It is as bright as a pearl and shining; It is as crystal clear as a diamond, dazzling; It stretches across the sky, and the stars are eclipsed......

Ah, I see! The moment Siddhartha saw the morning star, it was suddenly enlightened! I don't know how many times, Siddhartha has seen this morning star almost every morning, but in this extraordinary early morning, under this Bodhi tree, he and it really meet, know, and communicate with it for the first time: dependent arising voidness! The radiance of the morning star is like the first smile of a newborn child, and the enlightened light on the face of Siddhartha (who has become Shakyamuni at this time) is as brilliant as the starlight and as innocent as the smile of a newborn.

He stared at the eastern sky, infinite compassion spontaneously appeared, and he couldn't help but sigh: "It's amazing, it's amazing!" All sentient beings have the wisdom and virtue of the Buddha. Because of delusion and attachment, they cannot attain it. ”

Yes, all sentient beings, including insects, ants, birds, and beasts, have a heart that seeks advantage and avoids harm, yearning for liberation, and this is the manifestation of Buddha-nature. In other words, all sentient beings have the seeds of wisdom that have opened their minds, but unfortunately they are hindered by ignorance, trapped by habits, and bound by karma, and wander in the long river of life and death from life to life. However, when the opportunity is ripe and one thought is realized, sentient beings become Buddhas.

The exclamation of the Buddha Shakyamuni was once again proved by a firewood boy from Lingnan.

He, Lu Huineng, a "fang" from a wild land, is not very literate, from a low background, a humble person, and even the most basic hair has not been shaved, however, it is him, but he has an epiphany and became a Buddha, and became the sixth generation patriarch of Chinese Zen Buddhism!

Later generations of Zen monks sighed and said:

One of the seven hundred monks was selected, and they went on a blind date when they had nothing. The mantle of the night is passed on to Cao Xi, and the iron tree blooms in February and spring.

Huang Mei's number on the table is like hemp, and the sentence is whimsical. There was nothing in the first place, and the blue sky and the white sun were covered by clouds.

I often think about the monk in Xinzhou, what can I do if I don't know much? The shoulders of the firewood bear the waist stone, and the endless lamp from the west.

The fangs ascend to the Buddha land, the woodcutter becomes the patriarch, the illiterate inherits the mantle, and the practitioner inherits the law. It can be described as unprecedented, shocking the past and the present!

However, the Buddha nature is more lacking than the Buddha, so why can't he attain the Tao and become a Buddha? The woodcutter's heart is empty, just like the champion and the first, and he naturally wants to ascend to the ancestral throne; The heart is like a mirror, understanding life, entering the Zen machine, and the light of wisdom shines with the sun and the moon; The dragon girl became a Buddha at the age of eight, the good wealth boy attained the Tao, the practitioner has a clear mind, the truth is in the chest, the Zen staff is in the hand, and I am the only one in the sky and on the earth!

A beam of spiritual light penetrates the universe, and Bodhi understands life a little.
