Fifty-three: The people traveled together in the Vaishali, and the word abbot came from here (I)
As the conversation deepened, I heard this Wang Xuance ask Kumorilo like this: "I don't know where the master is going?" β
"It's not a secret, I have nothing to do these days, and I'm going to go to the Vaishari country for a while" Kumori replied directly and cheerfully with Wang Xuance's words.
Hearing that this Kumorira was also preparing to go to this Vaishali king, Xuan Ce smiled and said, "It seems that it is really a coincidence, I never thought that there was such a fate between us." β
"What do you mean by that?" Kumorira asked in surprise.
"The purpose of my visit to our five India is to worship the Buddha, and the next stop is to go to this Vaishari country to pay homage to the former residence of the Vaishyasya, and to pay homage to the ruins of this Vaishari country. In that case, why don't we just go all the way? Wang Xuance then sent an invitation to Kumorilo......
Hearing that the envoy of the Tang Kingdom had made such a warm appointment to himself, he saw that this Gu Moliluo replied with great joy: "That being the case, then thank you Wang Changshi for your invitation and good intentions."
After this discussion, Zhou Chen and all the members of the Tang Dynasty mission had a lot of respect for this Brahmanical monk, not only because of his erudition, but also because of his broad mind. Seeing that it was getting late, and there was still a long way to go before the next market town, everyone used some vegetarian food, and then camped on the soft lawn with the sky as the quilt and the ground as the bed.
Energetic and falling, flowers blooming, accompanied by the humid climate of India, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way, bathing in the first rays of sunshine in the morning, the group walked together. Along the way, they chatted a lot, and Kumori learned about the deeper things of the Tang Dynasty from Wang Xuance, and Wang Xuance learned a lot of questions that the five Indians had not understood for a long time through this famous Brahmanical patriarch. In short, the atmosphere is always so harmonious and joyful.
Because of the many understandings of the five Indian Buddhism, but listening to this Kumarila said: "This Vaishari country is basically all embracing my Brahmanism at present, although there are many Buddhist relics, but they are all deserted, and there is not even a single monk, but I can be a guide for the ranks?" β
Hearing him say this, Wang Xuance and the others were quite happy and said: "Since this is the case, then thank you master"
"Alas, you're welcome, it's also an honor for a little monk to be able to meet Wang Changshi." Kumoriro said to them with a happy face.
So, this group of people was once again accompanied by a joyful atmosphere. In a short time, they arrived in the Vaishri kingdom and came to the ruins of the former royal city of the Vaishili kingdom.
Looking at these ruins, touching this once prosperous and magnificent royal city, and touching the traces of history, Wang Xuance also had mixed feelings: "Alas, it is really unpredictable, the once majestic capital is now such a scene, it is really sad."
"History is not only a process of survival of the fittest, but also in the tireless pursuit of modern people, to promote the development of the latter; When something is not suitable for this place, it can only be barren, leaving us with a ruined wall. Kumoriro replied.
"Yes, the eldest brother and the master, you are right, even so, let's take a look, let's go forward, according to the records of Master Xuanzang's Tang Western Regions, the former residence of this Vimala monk should not be far from this royal city." Zhou Zeng casually came out with such a sentence.
"Then let's go forward, General Zhou is right, there is nothing to see, the former residence of the Vimalaya monk is five or six miles northwest of this city, and it will only take a stick of incense, we can get there" Kumoriro said casually.
It didn't take long for them to come to the former residence of the Vimalaya. I saw this former residence, standing quietly in a Zen forest, this Zen forest is not too big, but it is winding and quiet. Although this Zen forest is quite quiet, there is only one stupa and one ashram. Following the guidance of this Kumarira, they came to this stupa and heard this Kumarila say to them: "This stupa is the place where Vimalaya monks gave sutras to the devotees."
Looking at this towering stupa, it is also quite age-like, but listening to this week, Zeng immediately asked Kumarira: "Although I also know that this Vimalaya monk is a great good person of Buddhism, but I don't know much about his specific deeds, I hope the master can help answer questions."
So the Kumarila said to them, "As far as the little monk knows, this Vimalaya is a contemporary of Manjushri and a teacher of the Buddha. And he is also a rich man in this Vaishali country, and he has a lot of wealth. Despite this, he was still diligent in his studies and practiced devoutly. can be in the same phase but not in the same phase, the opposite environment but not the habitat, so in the end, the positive result. Vimala is the representative of the great bodhisattvas. Straight-heartedness and mindfulness are true, witnessing the reality of equality; Seeing the source of the hearts of all sentient beings, it has sufficient constant sand afflictions and immeasurable merits. Therefore, it is convenient to educate, so that all sentient beings can get rid of the troubles of the source of the mind and show the merits of the source of the heart. However, those who are exemplary and standard must be based on the Buddha who has been eliminated and manifested. If you have a broad mind and prove that it is true, you can make merit according to the merits of the Buddha.
I still remember one time, he said that he was sick at home, which alarmed the Buddha. The Buddha sent Manjushri and others to visit the sick. The Buddha knew that Vimalaya was just a fraud, so he sent Manjushri, who was known as the first in wisdom. After Manjushri met Vimalaya. The two of them fought with each other, repeatedly expounded on the Dharma, and the righteousness was profound, and the witty words were so great that the Bodhisattvas and Arhats who went to visit each other were stunned. After a controversy, Manjushri revered Vimalaya even more, and people revered Vimalaya even more. Since then, he has had the honorific title of the first good person in the Buddhist world. β
Indeed, as he said, this Vimalaya was not only the first good man in the Buddhist world, but the book that recorded his words and deeds was called the Vimalaya Sutra. This sutra is not only an early classic of Mahayana Buddhism, but also one of the TaishΕ Tibetan scriptures that Master Xuanzang brought back from the Five Indias.
The main idea of this Vimala Sutra is to propagate that in secular life, it is possible to become a Buddha through cultivation. Of course, his theory influenced a generation of poets in our early Tang Dynasty---- Wang Wei. His word Maha is exactly that. This Vimala Sutra also promotes the Mahayana view of emptiness, criticizes the one-sidedness of Hinayana and criticizes the small sighs and praises. Zen Master Yuexi said, "This sutra is a direct expression of the true Buddha nature, so it is most consistent with the Zen patriarch." The truth shown in the "Altar Sutra" of the six patriarchs has a lot in common with this scripture, and the ancestors of the past dynasties also quoted many words from this scripture for future learning.
