Chapter 528: Three out of a hundred

After Sedles accidentally discovered the British logistics base, Garibaldi, the commander of the Italian North African Army, immediately decided to launch an attack on the city of Sedles.

Before the large-scale attack, Garibaldi sent a small unit of the Italian reconnaissance department to Seidles to reconnoiter the British army's fortifications in the city. And this reconnaissance mission is still directly under the responsibility of Captain Carter.

He was accompanied by two major officers of the Italian High Command, personally assigned by General Garibaldi, both of whom had previously served in the reconnaissance company and were very helpful in the operation.

Although the two officers were one rank above Captain Carter, Garibaldi emphasized that the supreme commander of the operation was still Carter, the commander of the reconnaissance company, and that he had the authority to order the two majors.

The two majors also didn't have any racks, they both carried Beretta M1938 submachine guns, and they looked no different from the Italian soldiers.

They also carried two grenades each, but the two majors carried anti-tank grenades, because they understood that the British armored forces were the most troublesome for them.

Before leaving, Garibaldi specially sent two soldiers for the two to be responsible for the security, on the road in the direction of the former Cedrales, Carter and two officers walked last, and the two Italian soldiers in front were helping them "clear the way", and the three Carter were now preparing to go to the temporary headquarters of the front-line reconnaissance company to discuss the battle plan.

Shortly after arriving at the headquarters, the two Italian officers and Captain Carter devised a reconnaissance plan to go to Sedles.

I have to say that the two major officers sent by Garibaldi are very high-level, and the three of them together can easily solve many tactical troubles.

Soon, the Italian reconnaissance company followed the plan and quietly approached Seidles by night by the Italian army.

But what Carter didn't expect was that the Italian reconnaissance company easily entered the city of Seidles, and the first few hundred meters after entering the city did not encounter any accidents, neither civilians nor enemies, and the road was very calm and safe, as if it were an empty city.

"What's going on? Are the British troops asleep? Captain Carter muttered in his heart, but he did not dare to say it easily, for fear of alarming the British in the city, it was surprisingly quiet, and even the sound of breathing could be heard clearly, and he had a hunch that it was not so simple to tell Carter.

As they entered the heart of the city along the path winding between the buildings, they suddenly heard a short, rapid burst of machine-gun fire.

This machine gun is using long burst fire, and the sound is the machine gun of the British army.

"Bastard! We were so careful that we were still discovered! Captain Carter couldn't hold back any longer, and complained.

As he expected, things were not so simple, and it seemed that the British army should have prepared in advance here.

Captain Carter then ordered his troops to halt and disperse quickly, each looking for cover.

Most of the soldiers of the Italian reconnaissance company took refuge in a two-story building about 100 meters ahead, while Carter and the two Italian majors bent down and hid in the corner of a nearby bombed-out building, and began to poke their heads out in the direction of the machine-gun sound.

Later, Carter and the others saw a British armored car, which was firing at a two-story building about a hundred meters in front of the right, and the sound of machine gun fire on the armored car was regular, and the bullets hit the building and the rubble flew on it. And no one in that building fought back, as if no one had ever fought in that building.

"What's going on? Didn't our soldiers all hide in that house? Why don't they fight back? Captain Carter asked anxiously.

"Who knows? This is your soldier. A major replied.

But the armored vehicles of the British army, from where Carter and they were, could not be seen at all, and only the sound of machine guns on the armored vehicles could be heard.

It sounded like the armored car was parked behind a corner.

Carter, however, soon saw a dozen or so British infantrymen approaching the building along the corner, bent over the cover of armored vehicles.

The two officers who were operating with Carter began to get nervous, and their mission was to cooperate with Carter in completing the reconnaissance mission and, of course, to protect the safety of the troops.

If this continues, all the Italian soldiers who are traveling with them will be killed, and the reconnaissance mission will fail.

Not only the two majors, but Carter himself was also very nervous. It was clear that if the British had occupied the two-story building, then all the soldiers of his company would have been destroyed.

Therefore, their immediate priority is to take out the armored vehicles of the British army.

The three of them understood that they had to change places, because in this position, anti-tank grenades simply could not reach the British armored vehicles. And there's no better place around here for them to hide.

Now, if Carter and the others try to rush out without any cover, they will inevitably be picked up by the British as a live target.

Just as Carter and the others were feeling hopeless, about thirty meters in front of them, an inconspicuous hut caught their attention.

Tongues of fire suddenly appeared in the two windows of the hut, and it was clear that a machine gun and two submachine guns were firing in the same building where most of the soldiers of the Italian reconnaissance unit were located.

Although most of the soldiers who had escaped did not return fire because they were afraid of death, Carter's two officers finally mustered up the courage and tried to lie on the window and return fire in the direction of the British troops.

Since the British used armored vehicles and pre-set obstacles around the perimeter as cover, the two Italian officers' return fire seemed pointless.

Seeing this, most of the Italian soldiers did not dare to think about fighting back after the gunshots rang out, they didn't even care where they were shooting at their side, they just looked for the doors and windows around them, and quickly got in.

After a series of shots, there were lying on the ground the corpses of the Italian soldiers who had not dodged, and among them, there were two wounded who could move a little.

However, the British firing could not continue, and after knocking out many Italian soldiers, the two windows through which they deployed their firepower came to an abrupt halt, and everything returned to calm.

In fact, they were served by Captain Carter and two major officers.

As soon as Carter opened fire, he found that it was an excellent position, not only to use cover to shoot the British, but also to be close enough to the grenades from the British armored vehicles.

Fortunately, among the more than 100 Italians, there were finally 3 brave officers, and they barely managed to win back half the game.
