Chapter XXIII: The Attack
The main building of the General Headquarters of the SS in Warsaw is now in a state of the highest level of security.
Hundreds of Storm Commandos secretly surrounded the headquarters, and all the soldiers were fully armed and hid in the bushes, carefully observing the movements around them. They were tasked with killing any unknown person who tried to approach the building, and the commandos were to shoot them on the spot.
The soldiers clutched their weapons and stared at the direction they were guarding, believing that they would not hesitate to shoot at the slightest movement of the bushes from inside, and the order from above did not explain that they should stay alive.
Jung and Hagens were placed on the inner line closest to the building, where the corporals crouched in a covert machine-gun bunker at the edge of the building with an MG34 heavy machine gun, and now stared murderously at the lawn in front of them. If the enemy breached the perimeter line, it was a hostile militant, and as soon as they appeared in the open area, the two corporals swore that they would make those fellows a memory that would last a lifetime, if they could survive their own shooting.
"Jung. What time is it. Hagens, with his machine gun in hand, asked his partner softly.
"Five to three." Jung looked up at his watch.
"Why hasn't there been any movement yet?" Hagens felt a little tired, and he has been in this position since noon.
"Do you want me to change shifts with you?" Jung asked softly.
"Well, I'm just trying to take a break with my saliva. Did you say they would come? ”
"I don't know, I guess so, according to the order issued by the marshal, we already have very accurate information, and I heard that there are two commandos in ambush at the back door."
"Okay, you come here with a gun, and I'll go to you." Hagens and Junger switched places, and he picked up the kettle pinned to his waist and took a big sip of water.
"Four boxes of bullets should be enough. I don't believe anyone can get away from our guns. Hagens laughs.
"That seems to be enough, but we only have two spare barrels, so we shouldn't be able to shoot more than that." Jung said as he checked the ruler.
"I can't believe that there will be such a thing, and the Polish partisans will come and attack our headquarters? Are they crazy or stupid, isn't this looking for death? Hagens screwed on the lid of the kettle, pulled out a piece of Polish sausage and two slices of white bread from his pocket and nibbled on it.
"Hey, how do you eat while you're on a mission?"
"I was hungry for a long time, and I didn't have time to eat anything at noon, which I brought from the dining hall table. It tastes really good. Hagens replied indistinctly, chewing on a mouthful full of food.
"What, why didn't I see this thing. Leave me a little, don't eat it alone. ”
"Well, I'll give you half. Hurry up and eat so that the officers don't see it. Hagens graciously divided half of the food and handed it to Junger.
But just as Jung took the food from him, something they would never have imagined happened.
Less than five meters behind them was the conference room on the first floor of the headquarters. Just as the two soldiers were about to share a delicious meal, a violent explosion accompanied by a huge fireball burst out of the conference room behind them. In an instant, the shattered wooden window frames and broken glass, along with all kinds of miscellaneous items in the conference room, rushed towards the two soldiers like a storm.
Luckily, if it weren't for the half-buried bunker these two soldiers, or for the sneaky feeding of these two guys who were squatting at the bottom of the pit in front of them, they might have been beaten into a sieve by these fragments on the spot. And now the horrible pile of shrapnel debris flew over their heads in the violent shock wave of the explosion, the broken glass clanged against their steel helmets, and the heavy machine gun was swept out of cover and fell to the grass by the violent shock wave.
The two soldiers were completely stunned at that moment, they were not mentally prepared for this at all. But also, who would have thought that there would be an explosion in the heavily guarded headquarters behind him. Junger and Hagens had been completely blown up, and the two poor fellows were now crouched motionless in their bunkers, unable to hear anything in their ears, and there was only billowing smoke in their eyes except for the partner opposite who was trembling violently, and they both saw a deep fear in each other's eyes.
With that explosion, the entire building was shrouded in billowing smoke, and the sound of the fine report rang out fiercely. The Storm Commandos on the perimeter looked up from their respective hideouts and looked at the headquarters without knowing what was happening, and then they saw smoke and fire.
"Assemble and put out the fire." As the officers leading the team shouted angry orders and shrill assembly whistles, the commandos quickly ran out of their respective hiding places, and then ran desperately towards the main headquarters building under the leadership of the officers.
"Hurry, hurry up and organize the rescue, there are still many people inside, hurry, hurry up." Dogan stood on the steps of the headquarters with his face covered in blood and ragged, shouting at the commandos.
"The conference room was bombed, and the commander and all the officers were in the map room next to the conference room. Send someone to save them. With that, Dougan collapsed headlong into the arms of a commando and fainted.
Looking at Colonel Dogan, whose face was covered in blood, coupled with his previous words, really scared the commando commander into a cold sweat. If anything happens to the deputy head of state in this attack, the consequences will be unimaginable.
The commander immediately led his commandos into the building as fast as possible, and now there was only one thought in everyone's minds, even if they risked their lives, to rescue the deputy Führer and the officers, and they all prayed in their hearts that those men would escape this catastrophe.
When they rushed into the building, the scene in front of them made everyone's hearts cold, the corridor was now a mess, half of the wall on the other side of the corridor in the conference room had been blown down, all kinds of debris was scattered all over the corridor, billowing smoke was still pouring out of the conference room, and there was a pungent smell of gunpowder smoke in the air.
"The first and second teams quickly went to find fire extinguishing tools and put out the fire here. Team 3 come with me. The commando commander's voice changed as he gave the order, and he led a squad of commandos to rush across the hallway like crazy in the choking smoke.
Hearing Colonel Dougan say that the deputy Führer and those officers were in the map room next to the conference room at the time of the explosion, and seeing the current situation in the conference room, the loss there must not be small, and the commander was so anxious that he almost cried when he thought of this.
The map room was at the other end of the corridor, next to the exploding conference room, a short distance of about ten meters in the mind of the commando commander who was more than a light year. The captain swore afterwards that he felt his heart stop beating as he had traveled that distance, and that it was only when the tall figure emerged from his field of vision that he had regained his heartbeat.
"General Mueller!" The captain recognized the tall figure that had burst out of the smoke, and he could not help but exclaim, and hope was rekindled in his heart.
"What people! Hold it! ”
Mueller pointed a pistol in one hand at the commando who ran towards him, and with the other hand on his forehead, the bleeding wound on his forehead was still bleeding, and he drank loudly.
"It's us, Storm Troopers. I'm Captain Desen. The captain quickly stopped, stood still, and reported loudly to Müller.
Mueller was visibly relieved to hear Desen's words, and he lowered the muzzle of his pistol, and his tall body shook as if he couldn't support it.
Desen hurriedly rushed over and helped Muller, and he asked anxiously: "General, how are you?" ”
"Leave me alone, go to the map room, everyone is hurt. The deputy head was also wounded and in serious condition. Go and help me get them out. Mueller pushed Dessen away and shouted at the commandos.
"General, we'll go immediately, but you seem to be in urgent need of help now, so you'd better get out of here first, and we'll take care of the rest."
When Dessen heard that the deputy Führer was only injured and not killed, a big stone in his heart finally fell to the ground, although he did not know the extent of the führer's injuries, but it was much better than being killed on the spot. He shouted to the two commandos: "You two quickly help the general out for treatment, there are many wounded people inside, bring more people over." ”
The two commandos immediately agreed, and without saying a word, Mueller, who seemed to be about to rush back to the map room, rushed towards the safe area at the other end of the corridor.
At this time, the commandos who rushed to hear the news joined the rescue operation, and the fire in the conference room was extinguished in a moment, and the people in the map room were also rescued by them one by one. Everyone was running around shouting loudly, and the entire command was thrown into a kind of crazy chaos.
Half an hour later, more than a dozen Type 215 armored personnel carriers painted with red crosses rushed out of the headquarters gate in a frenzy, and they roared towards the German garrison hospital in Warsaw.
At this time, the street in front of the garrison hospital had long been tightly sealed off by the Waffen-SS who had received the order, and even the buildings opposite the hospital were controlled by those commandos. Machine gun squads and snipers are set up at various vantage points on all sides, and they watch the situation around them attentively, and they will not hesitate to shoot at the slightest abnormality, and the whole neighborhood is enveloped in an oppressive and dangerous atmosphere.
The dozen or so armored personnel carriers rushed to the entrance of the hospital, and the screeching sound of emergency brakes resounded throughout the neighborhood. When the cars stopped, a large group of doctors and nurses who had been waiting at the door rushed up and carried the important wounded into the hospital as quickly as possible. At the same time a Waffen-SS began to build makeshift work in front of the hospital.
They erected machine guns and barbed wire. Two 20mm rapid-fire guns were placed in the middle of the street, which held both ends of the street, while a Type II tank was safely parked in the middle of them. These weapons make it seem like no one can break through the defenses without the support of tanks, and the grim and fierce eyes of the commandos make it seem that tanks are not necessarily useful. The whole arrangement makes people feel a terrifying chill that goes deep into the bone marrow.
As night slowly descends on the city, the street lamps begin to glow dimly, and everything returns to peace. No one would have imagined that at this time, in the huge intensive care unit in the hospital, a punitive operation was slowly unfolding.
"Randolph! You idiot, I'm going to kill you! Dogan's head was covered in bandages and he yelled angrily at his deputy.
"You guy, you almost killed us all! I will never forgive you, let me die! Mueller grinned at Randolph with a folding chair in his hand.
"Hmph, you bastard, I don't know how you graduated from military school, leaving this matter to you was the first mistake I made, and now I'm going to make up for my mistake." Hans picked up an iron shelf with a drip bottle and walked towards Randolph with a fierce look.
At this time, Randolph was tied like a rice dumpling firmly tied to a hospital bed, and even his mouth was sealed with a thick bandage, and now he looked at Xu Jun who was lying on the side with a wistful gaze full of tears.
Xu Jun glanced at him and said in a tone of pity: "You can go in peace, my Major Randolph, God will forgive your sins." Remember to brush up on your arithmetic after getting to the top. Don't miscalculate the amount of ZHA medicine. ”
Randolph couldn't help but widen his eyes after listening to Xu Jun's words, and his mouth said, "Woo, woo." "I want to tell what. But as the three fierce officers in front of him drew closer and closer, poor Randolph finally rolled his eyes and fainted.
"It's a shame for the SS."
"Haha, do you see the look in his eyes? Would love to do it again. ”
"But it's really time to punish him severely, this guy would have miscalculated the amount of zha medicine, if the marshal hadn't let us find some cover for the sake of insurance, it would have really killed people, and now the thought of that big hole in the wall that was blown out makes my scalp tingle." Looking at the poor victim Hans, they finally felt a bad breath.
"Marshal, what are we going to do next?" Hans asked Xu Jun.
"Except for this small mistake, everything went smoothly, and this small mistake made our operation more realistic, and no one would have thought that we would dare to blow ourselves up with such a big bomb." Mueller went on to say.
Xu Jun raised his head from the document, nodded and said, "Yes, this operation is basically very successful. The only thing that's a bit of a pity is that many people were really injured in this operation, but in the end, they were just scratching a little skin or knocking and nodding nods, which should have no impact on the next step of our operation. Then we waited for the next step to be prepared, and until then, we had to stay in this hospital. ”
"Marshal, judging from the current progress, the next step will be carried out within forty-eight hours, at least so far there has been no mistake in any link. Your plan is already halfway there. Mueller said with a smile.
"The people in the hospital are all under our watchful eye and there will be no problems. And those storm commandos are all our people, and I'm sure not a single fly will be able to get in. Hans then reported.
"Well, we must keep our real situation tightly sealed and not allow Hitler to get any information about our injuries. Then spread the news that we had prepared, so that everyone would think that I had been seriously injured in a despicable assassination, and that you were all injured in this assassination, and that I was still in danger, dead or alive.
And now we have to speed up the execution of our plan, and look at this latest document, our allies are already starting to pick up the bargain. Xu Jun handed the document in his hand to Hans.
"What?" Hans exclaimed after glancing at the papers. "Italy has declared war on France!"
"There's such a thing." Müller and Dougan hurriedly came together to look at the document in Hans's hand.
"It's to be expected. The heir of Rome also inherited the arrogance and stupidity of the ancient Roman emperors. This time, he took those qualities to a new level.
He thought that the defeat of France at Dunkerk had been greatly damaged, and that the French army was attracted by our troops, and that he wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to fish in troubled waters and steal our victory from our Germans. Xu Jun said coldly.
"This shameless thing, how dare he do this. They didn't even give us notice before the attack. What the hell was he thinking? Dougan shouted angrily.
"He didn't think about anything, he just wanted to blatantly share the fruits of our victory, which is the Italian way.
Their actions in the last war have shown us that they are an unreliable ally, and this one has reinforced this with their impudent behavior. And Hitler was so tolerant of the Italians, and on several occasions compromised with that idiot who could only talk about his rhetoric and bluff, and I really don't know what he admired about that idiot.
Fortunately, now that we were fighting bloodily on the front lines and cornering the French giant, this ally came out again to reap the benefits. We didn't see any support from that so-called ally when we were fighting hard.
I couldn't believe it was such a shameless thing happening, but I was sure that his calculations seemed to be completely wrong this time. As long as I'm here, this shameless guy's premeditation won't succeed. Xu Jun said with a sneer.
In Xu Jun's heart, he has always been angry at Italy's performance in World War II, and they are simply not comparable to the indigenous soldiers of the British colonies. They are the biggest jokemakers in the world's military history, and those battles can make those military experts fall through their glasses every time, and they are either laughed to death by them or angry with them. Now, this stupid Italian ducái has finally followed the footsteps of history and rushed into the chaotic battlefields of World War II. If he still lets this idiot and his stupid generals drag himself back again, then he won't be in this world.
Xu Jun suddenly felt that the idiot's actions might be of some help to his plan. But how to make good use of this matter in his own plan, Xu Jun couldn't help but fall into contemplation again. And his subordinates didn't dare to disturb Xu Jun's train of thought, and they all turned their attention to Randolph, who was still unconscious.
"Hans, you see why this guy hasn't woken up yet, it's going to be fine." Dougan said to Hans as he poked his finger at Randolph on the bed.
"Really? Let me take a look, oh? It seems to be out of gas. Hans put his hand in front of Randolph's nose.
"Out of gas?" Confused, Mueller walked up to Randolph and raised his fist to Randolph's stomach. I saw Randolph on the bed open his eyes suddenly, and let out a long "......" scream from his mouth, and tears flowed out of his eye frames.
"Play play and play dead. You're still a little tender. Mueller blew into his fist.
