Beijing time, 9 a.m.
Beijing, Prime Minister's Hutong.
This prime minister's alley is located in the middle of Xuanwu District, starting from Luomashi Street in the north and reaching Nanhengxi Street in the south. It can be traced back to my self-proclaimed ancestor in the Qing Dynasty - my Dajin.
By the time I was in Dameng, the craftsmen who weaved ropes in Kyoto lived here, so it was called "Rope Maker Alley".
In order to please the mouth, everyone called it "Prime Minister Hutong" by false rumors, and the mistake was made into an official place name during the Republic of China.
Mr. Lu Xun, who is as famous as Mr. Hongji, even wrote an article opposing judging from the name whether it is evil or good. He once criticized the relevant parties for changing the Ropesmith Hutong to the Prime Minister's Hutong as boring.
Not to mention, there are really many big celebrities living here. For example, Zeng Guofan, Zuo Zongtang, Li Dazhao, Qiu Jin, Gong Zizhen, Cai Yuanpei and so on.
Of course, New China could not use the "feudal" Prime Minister Hutong, so it was renamed Caishikou Hutong. By the end of the twentieth century, it became Caishikou Street.
That's right, this alley is close to the entrance of the vegetable market where the prisoner was executed.
Nowadays, there is a newspaper in Prime Minister's Hutong, which is the famous "Morning Post".
Li Dazhao, one of the founders of the Chinese Communist Party, founded the "Morning Bell" in 1916. In September 1918, the news of the government's borrowing from Japan, known as the "Nishihara Great Loan", was closed. In December of the same year, the newspaper was renamed Morning Post and republished.
This newspaper is one of the official newspapers of the "Research Department", a political faction led by Liang Sicheng and his father Liang Qichao, and is also the organ of the Progressive Party founded by Liang Rengong.
"Morning Post Supplement" was even more famous, and it was one of the "four major supplements" at that time.
By the way, the "Research Department" has the "Morning Post" and the "National Gazette" in Beijing, and the magazines "Shishi Xinbao" and "Transformation" in Shanghai.
The Morning Post not only made a great contribution to the New Culture Movement, but also played a role in fueling the May Fourth Movement.
On May 2, 1919, Lin Huiyin's father, Lin Changmin, published an important article in the Morning Post revealing China's diplomatic crisis, and two days later the May Fourth Movement broke out.
Therefore, one of the most important political campaigns in Seris's modern history is not unrelated to the Morning Post's follow-up coverage of the Shandong issue.
How can I say it, since our Master Yuan accepted Zhang Dongsun's invitation to become a professor in the Department of Economics of China Public School. Well, he now has a little bit of a research department.
Of course, whether he can become a political member of the research department depends on whether the research department can tolerate him as a big Buddha.
A young man of twenty-five or sixteen hurriedly stepped into the office of the "Morning Post", rushed to the door of the editor-in-chief's office, and slammed the door with his fist in impatience.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
"Mr. Zae-kun, are you there?"
"Bang, bang, bang!"
I only heard someone inside ask unhappily in a mouthful of southern official dialect: "Who?" β
"Mr. Zaijun, it's me, Sun Fuyuan."
Sun Fuyuan (1894-1966), if you know a little about the history of modern Chinese literature, this name should be quite familiar.
He and the Zhou brothers were fellow villagers in Shaoxing and one of Lu Xun's most famous students.
In 1918, he was introduced by Zhou Zuoren and went to Peking University with his younger brother Sun Fuxi to audit, and became a full-fledged student the following year.
In 1919 he became editor of the supplement of the National Gazette. In the same year, after the "National Gazette" was shut down for publishing a scandal exposing the Duan Qirui government, Sun Fuyuan transferred to the "Morning Post" as a reporter.
In 1920, together with Mao Dun, Zheng Zhenduo and others, he co-founded the famous literary group - Literary Research Association.
In October of this year, he will be the editor of the supplement of the "Morning Post", and later he will be known as the "supplement king". Lu Xun's masterpiece "The True Story of Ah Q" was published continuously in the newspaper for the first time.
"Squeak."
The door was opened by a middle-aged man of thirty-five or sixteen years old, with a beautiful face and two mustaches.
This is naturally Mr. Zaijun. He is also a celebrity, surnamed Ding Wenjiang, a native of Taixing, Jiangsu.
Ding Wenjiang (1887-1936), this benevolent brother has a lot of experience, so I won't go into details. However, he is best known as one of the founders of China's geological enterprise, founding China's first geological institution, the China Geological Survey.
He is also an important member of the research department and is one of the six attachΓ©s of Liang Qichao in Europe.
And who said that geologists can't be newspaper editors, Ding Wenjiang later founded two important magazines, one was Endeavor Weekly in 1922 and the other was Independent Review in 1932.
He is now the acting editor-in-chief of the Morning Post while founding the China Geological Survey in Beijing.
"Yangquan (Sun Fuyuan's words), look at you, sweating profusely. Why are you in such a hurry......
Sun Fuyuan, who was drenched in sweat, wiped his sweat casually, took out a wet manuscript paper and said, "Mr. Zaijun, big news, big news." I just got the news from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs! β
"Oh, I'll take a look......" Ding Wenjiang couldn't help but be shocked and said after taking a look, "What's going on?!" β
"yes, yes, I couldn't believe it at first." Sun Fuyuan nodded, "However, according to friends in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they will issue an official statement today at the request of the British government." β
Ding Wenjiang immediately asked: "Yangquan, what official statement does the Ministry of Foreign Affairs want?" β
Sun Fuyuan said depressedly: "Hey, don't you want to get rid of your relationship with these heroes, but also strongly condemn them." β
"Hey......" Ding Wenjiang also sighed when he heard this.
From 1907 to 1911 he studied zoology and geology at the University of Glasgow, where he obtained a double bachelor's degree.
So he is also a person who has drunk foreign ink, and naturally knows that international politics is not so simple. The Beijing government has no choice but to do so.
However, as a not-so-professional professional newspaperman, he certainly has a certain sense of news.
"No matter, we're out of the picture."
"Alright, I'll go write now."
"Yangquan, you can go...... Wait a minute, this incident is called the Zori Incident. β
"Mr. Zai-kun, understood!"
At the same time, in addition to the "Morning Post", major newspapers in Beijing also received information that was specially leaked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the morning of July 24, 1921, the "outside" voices of the newsboys in Sijiu City were endless.
So the capital of the Republic of China was immersed in an eerie atmosphere of joy.
"Have you heard about it all the time?"
"What did you hear?"
"That's it."
"Oh, you said that...... I just finished reading the newspaper from the storyteller in the teahouse, and it's really a bunch of pure men. β
"Yes, yes, these guys are too seedy, they actually broke into the Forbidden City of the British and kidnapped the two crown princes as meat tickets. I don't dare to act like this. β
"That's it! Who did you say came up with this idea? Mr. Storyteller has said that this master will definitely not let Zhuge Liang beat Liu Bowen! β
"Students, come and see!"
And in the various schools in Beijing, the various numbers were passed from one person to another, and the young faces were full of excitement.
Thunder is about to resound through this thousand-year-old capital!
