The former strategy is impossible to replicate at present, the Soviet Union has been prepared against Germany, even if the German army launches a surprise attack, it is impossible to produce the kind of record in history, and Xu Jun will not repeat the mistakes of the former chancellor until Germany has reached all the reserves needed to defeat the Soviet Union.

In fact, no matter which strategy the top brass chooses, the threat faced by the German soldiers is the same, whether it is offensive or defensive, they will inevitably encounter the mortal enemy of the infantry, the powerful Soviet armored forces.

Historically, the German infantry was counterattacked by Soviet armored forces shortly after setting foot on Soviet soil, and one of the shortcomings of the German infantry was exposed in the battle, and only a few of them received individual anti-tank training.

In the tactics of the German Army, anti-tank tasks were all assigned to specialized units, such as anti-tank companies in each infantry regiment and anti-tank squads in each infantry company.

The anti-tank company was mainly equipped with 37-mm anti-tank guns, which had already become a stepping stone in the French campaign, and it was difficult to deal with some French medium tanks, not to mention the steel monsters that the Soviet Union was currently refurbishing.

According to the original history, the German army would first replace this inpowerful anti-tank weapon with a 50-millimeter anti-tank gun, but it was not until after the war on the Eastern Front that the German army found that it was difficult to confront the main tank of the Soviet army with 50-millimeter anti-tank guns, and finally the Germans raised the caliber of the infantry anti-tank gun to 75 millimeters, which finally contained the Soviet army's armor rage.

The latter is a conical rifled gun, the barrel caliber gradually decreases from back to front, and the shells are gradually backlogged during the movement within the barrel, which allows the warhead to obtain an extremely high muzzle velocity, which is as high as 1,260 meters per second when using conventional doses.

When it fired its special tungsten core armor-piercing projectile, it showed a very impressive power, and for a homogeneous steel target plate tilted at a 30-degree inclination angle of 1,000 meters, the cannon reached a penetration depth of 140 millimeters.

If the firing distance is reduced to 500 meters, which is the most common engagement distance for infantry company and platoon anti-tank guns, the penetration depth of this gun is 172 millimeters, which indicates that no Soviet tank can withstand the attack of this artillery.

The production process of this anti-tank gun is more complicated, and the alloy material is used, so the price and use cost are relatively high, because the use of the tapered mode leads to a very short life of the barrel, about 500 rounds, and then the barrel must be replaced.

However, in Xu Jun's opinion, this is not a problem, if an anti-tank gun can finish 600 shells and has not been killed by the enemy, then it is fully qualified to change another barrel, because according to half the hit rate, this artillery group has already killed at least 300 armored targets.

The Pak41 75mm conical gun almost replaced the Pak40 75mm anti-tank gun because of its superior armor-piercing performance, but unfortunately because of the lack of tungsten ore in Germany in history, and it was only suitable for firing tungsten core armor-piercing shells, so when Hitler ordered to reduce the production of this ammunition, the Germans finally only kept 150 of these anti-tank guns, and the remaining Pak41 quietly disappeared from the German army after the ammunition and barrel were exhausted.

However, the Germans no longer have such concerns, and in addition to the Austrian tungsten mine being developed, Germany has also imported a large amount of tungsten ore from Portugal and Bolivia, and at the same time, the pre-war tungsten sand trade has been resumed in the package contract with China.

However, the amount of tungsten ore controlled by the Chongqing government is currently small, and most of the products need to be repaid to the United States to offset the loans obtained from the Export-Import Bank of the United States. The deal, known as the "tungsten sand loan contract," saw the U.S. Export-Import Bank provide Chongqing with a $15 million loan to buy U.S.-made food and raw materials, and Chongqing would need to provide $30 million worth of U.S. tungsten sand over five years to repay.

In 39, under the leadership of Roosevelt, the United States passed the "Stockpiling Important Munitions Act," and Congress was prepared to allocate $100 million over four years to purchase 17 kinds of strategic materials necessary for the United States.

As a result, in less than half a year, they spent all of the $25 million budget for that year, all of which were used to purchase five strategic materials: tungsten, tin, manganese, chromium, and rubber. They imported more than 1,485,000 pounds of tungsten sand alone, which translates to about 6,780 tons, of which 60 percent was imported from China. As for the tungsten sand hoarded by the UK, it adds up to almost half of Portugal's production, and as a result, in addition to the needs of its own production, almost all the rest is eaten by Germany.

Germany is not short of tungsten at all, so Xu Jun can safely mass-produce the Pak41 concrete gun, which will enable the German infantry units at the company and platoon level to have firepower that can fight against heavy tanks at long distances.

As for the other conventional Pak40 anti-tank gun, although the armor-piercing ability is not as good as the cone gun, but it is enough to deal with most Soviet armored vehicles, this anti-tank gun has its own advantages, that is, it can fire a variety of ammunition, such as conventional and high-explosive shells, in addition to anti-tank tasks, it can also support the conventional combat of infantry, compared to the Pak41 cone gun function is a little simpler.

In Xu Jun's plan, the Pak41 would be assigned to armored and panzergrenadier units and some fortified defense units, while the Pak40 would be assigned to regular infantry units, especially fortified defensive units, which would inevitably encounter surprise attacks and sieges by enemy heavily armored units after the battle, so they would need to be equipped with strong anti-tank firepower.

Because it is assigned to the grassroots infantry unit, so the movement mode of these two guns is still based on the conventional towing type, counting the wheeled gun carriage, the total weight of these two guns is about 1.4 tons, of which the conical gun is also more than 100 kilograms lighter, can be towed by any kind of military vehicle, and can also be towed by animal power and manpower if necessary, but it will be more difficult to march in the cross-country, this problem existed in the original history, and at present, only after the light field tractor began to fully equip the German troops, It is possible to be relieved.

In addition to these wheeled towed models, Xu Jun plans to carry them on various motor vehicles, such as wheeled armored vehicles and half-track personnel carriers, and can even be temporarily installed on trucks to become mobile anti-tank fire platforms.

If there are no accidents, Xu Jun believes that with the power of these two anti-tank guns, it will be enough for the German grassroots infantry to drag them to fight the whole war.
