Chapter 419: Military Communism
On the A-La Bab Peninsula, there is not only one animal that is loved by the A-La Bo people, but in addition to camels, Allah also gives the A-La Bo people a second great gift, that is, A-La Boma. These horses are known for their fitness, loyalty, tenacity, and intelligence, and the Bedouins love horses so much that if there is only a bucket of water, both men and horses are thirsty, and it is not the people who drink the water first, but the horses.
It is also rich in tamarin, which can be used to make excellent charcoal; The A-La Bo gum tree produced by A-La Bo gum is a natural food additive and emulsifier; xun, a delicious mushroom; senna, a laxative; Grapes, generally in this semi-desert area, such as our Xinjiang region; There are also pomegranates, apricots, apples, olives, and more.
There is another crop that the A-La people can't live without, which is dates!
Apart from camel meat, Bedouins eat only one solid food, and that is dates. Not only people eat it, but the core of the date palm is ground into powder and made into a cake, which is still a fine grain that camels like very much. If you soak dates in water and wait for them to ferment, they become a Bedouin specialty drink, li. If the ancient Han people lived on millet, and the ancient Europeans relied on wheat to fill their stomachs, then the date palm is the millet and wheat of the ancient Bedouins.
In addition, there is another thing in the hinterland of the A\La Bre Peninsula, which is loved by the Bedouins, and this thing sounds a little disgusting, and that is locusts. It is said that every few years, there will be a plague of locusts in the desert, and then all the Bedouins will go out and catch locusts with large cloth bags, and after bringing them back to the tent, they will not wash them at all, and they will twist the locust's head so that even the head and intestines and stomach will be pulled out, and the rest of the body will be full of meat. Dip it in salt and throw it in your mouth, they say it's a delicacy!!
On the A-La Bre Peninsula, due to the differences in the natural environment of the region, there are generally three types of people. One is the settlers who occupy only the coastal oases and live an agrarian life, and the second is the Bedouins who ride camels and horses. Nomads who drive their flocks to chase water and grass and migrate, and there is also a type of semi-sedentary and semi-nomadic people. Although these three kinds of people are all A-La Bo people and look similar, their personalities are completely different.
The settlers have the most stable life, so they have developed relatively quickly in terms of science and technology and culture, and most of the A'la and Bo scholars come from the settlers. Semi-sedentary and semi-nomadic people live in peace and wandering, unable to concentrate on knowledge, but they have a fixed place to live. So he was keen to do business. Take advantage of the wandering time to run around, buy suitable goods, and then sell them everywhere, including those A\La \Bo who run the maritime merchants, most of them are this kind of people.
The Bedouins were purely nomadic peoples, and where they lived depended entirely on where there was pasture and water, and there was no time to delve into it. There is no effort to do business. But they were not idle, and the long-term harsh environment created the fierce character of the Bedouins. Therefore, if there is anyone who can fight, then they are the best among the A-La-Bo people. The Bedouin cavalry and camel soldiers came and went in the desert like the wind, and there was no need to train at all, because robbery and vendetta were games that would accompany them all their lives.
Moreover, the Bedouins are extremely foreign-phobic, they are self-sufficient in the desert, and generally do not go out of the desert. I don't like to see others go into the desert. The entire Ajla-Ber Desert region is home to the Bedouins, and although this great desert has caused many inconveniences to their lives, it is not without benefits when you think about it. The desert is their natural barrier, and others want to attack them. Without enough courage and superiority, it is basically impossible.
When the Bedouins pray, they always say: O Allah! Have mercy on me, have mercy on Muhammad, but have no mercy on anyone else!
However, the Bedouin personality is very contradictory, once you become their approved guest, then they will treat you as family and will protect you as if you were a family member. Unless he dies in battle, if he allows his guests to be harmed in his own territory, the Bedouins consider it a defilement of Allah.
In this era, the life of the A-La and Bo people was relatively simple, and the social structure was relatively simple. A tent represents a family, and when several tents come together, it is a herd; Several herds come together to form a clan; When several related clans come together, they are a tribe. The tribe is the most basic unit of Arab society, and the tribal patriarch is called the Sheikh, who is a respectable, just, and generous elder elected by everyone.
In a tribe, everyone is a member of their own family, which is expressed by adding a prefix to their name. For example, if the patriarch of this tribe is called Said, then all the people in this tribe must have the word Benu Said in front of their names. Bennu means son, indicating that he is a son of Said. When you go out to fight and grab territory, you can also let the other party know which tribe you are.
If you kill a tribe, especially a Bedouin, you're in trouble. The whole tribe will see you, your family, and your people as mortal enemies, and then the two tribes will start a vendetta and never die. Some tribal disputes can last for hundreds of years, until one side is killed or a reparation is paid to the satisfaction of the other.
When Said said this, Hong Tao suddenly understood something. This should be the main reason why it is difficult for the US military to cultivate proxies in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria in later generations. In these predominantly tribal countries, outsiders come and don't know who is feuding with whom, and who is sworn enemies. If you don't arrange it well, let two or more feuding tribes govern together, think with your big toes, and you can also figure out whether they will cooperate with each other, and it is already very face-saving for the US military to fight without meeting, as long as the US army leaves, it will immediately be a tribal war. What country, ethnicity, religion, for these tribes are, let's take revenge first. Because the other party killed my father and my brother, and I also killed the other party's mother and second uncle, a kill is a few years, more than ten years, decades, can this thing be said clearly?
Don't think that the A-La people are all religious fanatics, between tribes and religions, the vast majority of A-La Bo people will choose tribes, this is their living habits and cultural traditions. Compared to these things, religion came relatively late, and many nomadic tribes are not very religious, for them, religion is not a necessity of life. But the tribe is, a person without a tribe, he cannot live in this land, because anyone can kill you, you have no protection, including law and religion.
Speaking of the A-La Bo people, we must talk about religion, who made them ******** tradition. For the ****** of the thirteenth century, the Qur'an was not only a scripture, but also a law and a philosophy of life.
There are five basic principles, which means that if you follow these five tenets, you can basically be a ******.
The first is to confess to Allah that every ****** from birth to death speaks the most in two sentences: "There is no god but Allah" and "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah".
If you go to Mecca or Jerusalem, every day you will see a man who rises to the top of a high tower and preaches to the people who worship below, this person is called Muyazin, which translates to muezzin. The first two sentences of his sermon are also these two sentences. According to the rules of ****** religion, as long as a person recites these two sentences in public, that person is already a ******.
The second program is prayer, and every ****** prays to the Ka'ba five times a day (the Ka'ba is a generous room in the middle of the al-Haram in Mecca), and no matter where you are in the world, you must pray in the direction of the holy city of Mecca. Every Friday at noon, it is a public service, and all adult ****** have to go to the worship temple to gather.
The third program is Zaika, which means legal almsgiving. Although it is said to be alms, it is different when it is added to the law, and each ****** must pay, which is about 5 to 10 percent of personal income, which is similar to the meaning of Christian tithes.
The fourth program is fasting, during which from sunrise to sunset is not allowed to eat, drink and bang, and this month is called Ramadan.
The fifth program is Hajj, also called Hajj. It requires every ****** regardless of gender, as long as the body can bear it, the road is smooth, and they can afford the road expenses, and the family will not be unable to open the pot because of the road expenses. Then you have to go to Mecca at least once in your life, at the appointed time, and take ordination in clothes that are not sewn, which is called Hajj.
If you wish, you can also go to the holy place of Mecca for Hajj whenever and wherever you want, without having to wait for a specific time, which is called 'Umulai, also known as Umrah. On the last day of the Hajj, a camel is slaughtered in Mina, and this day is the ****** festival in the world, called Gurban Festival in China.
So how is the ******** of ****** religion reflected? First of all, in terms of taxes, there are three kinds of taxes in the Arab countries, land tax, human tax, and legal alms. The money goes into the state treasury for government spending and military spending, and the remaining treasury is distributed to each ****** of the state each year. Not everyone has to pay these three taxes, women, children, beggars, monks, the elderly, and the sick are exempt. Strong men are also divided into three grades, rich, medium, and poor, and then pay different amounts of taxes according to your rank, the richer pays more, and the poorer pays less.
When a foreign war is won, the occupied land goes to the state, and the rest of the spoils of war are distributed among the whole people. It is indeed recorded in the history books that many Arab countries have distributed to all their citizens the remaining money and spoils of war in the treasury, and as long as there is a surplus in the treasury every year, it will be distributed to all the citizens according to different grades. According to Said's name, this kind of society is called military communism!
