Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Man in the Mask
There was a burly man standing in the doorway, grinning at Katrina.
"You're the owner of this shop?" Catrina put the dried flowers back in their place, turning to look at the man.
The man has strong muscles and a pair of large axes hanging from his waist. There were no less than ten scars on his face, most of which seemed to be wounded by sharp objects, and even if he smiled, it made his already ugly face look extremely vicious.
"That's right, I'm Claude, so you must be Miss Katrina. Claude said as he walked over. His squinted eyes gleamed with ill intentions, and he looked Katrina back and forth.
Claude's feet are a little lame, and he walks with one shoulder high and one shoulder low, but he is not slow. Soon, he stopped in front of Katrina, put his right hand on the flower stand, and said, "I opened this shop, take a look, I can give you any flowers you like every day." His thick voice was mixed with the most primitive **, like a forest gray wolf in heat.
The hot and humid smell mixed with some foul smell came to my face. Katrina was disgusted, and her tone immediately became a little unpolite: "Pay attention to your attitude, you'd better hurry up and get down to business." ”
"Alright then, follow me. Claude shrugged his shoulders and walked out the door. This kind of treatment is not the first time that Claude has enjoyed it, and besides, this is the guest of the president, and he does not dare to offend ten dares, at most he feasts his eyes.
The rain outside the door was getting heavier and heavier, and there were almost no pedestrians on the road, only the various machinery that appeared from time to time sped through the rain.
Under the canopy on the left in front of the store was a strange machine with two wheels, front and rear, which appeared to be a manned vehicle, according to Claude, called a magic powered locomotive.
"Buzz......" Claude expertly started the magic-powered locomotive, and the body made a somewhat muffled sound. The dashboard embedded in the front of the car immediately lit up, which surprised the usually indifferent Katrina.
"It's the perfect combination of magic and mechanics, come on, let's go to the president. Claude seemed to have guessed Caterina's thoughts, and he sat on the locomotive, grabbed the two handles, turned his head and said.
Although Katrina was a hundred unwilling, she had no choice but to lift her robe and sit behind Claude.
"Sit tight!" before the words could be spoken, the locomotive was already bursting out with a blue tail flame. If it weren't for Katrina's grip on the handles on either side of her seat, she would have been lying on the ground.
The speed of the locomotive is very fast, so fast that it is difficult to see the surrounding scenery. After about a few minutes, Claude stopped.
"It's ...... Shadow wizards?" Catrina said incredulously, jumping out of the car.
A short distance away, through the beautifully hollowed-out iron gates, there is a wide stone road at least a hundred meters away, leading to a castle-like structure surrounded by large manicured lawns. An abundance of magic lamps banished the darkness, allowing it to be enjoyed even at night.
"Of course not, this is the Divosk Palace. Claude parked the locomotive and walked to the front to talk to the guards.
Apparently Claude was a regular visitor here, and the guards soon let the two out, omitting even the check.
The buildings not far away are brightly lit and look even more spectacular than the Elven Temple. What's even more surprising is the vast lawn in front of the building, which is simply extravagant in this desert where every inch of land is valuable.
"Claude, what are you bringing me here for?" Catrina deliberately kept her distance from Claude, half a step behind him.
"You don't need to know that much, you'll see the president soon. Claude seemed to be a different person, and became unsmiling.
Soon the two came to the palace. The palace has four floors, with a width of more than 100 meters and a height of more than 20 meters.
Claude seemed to be familiar with the palace, and instead of entering the palace, he chose to enter a cloister. The cloister has a tall vault and carved beams and columns, which is extremely luxurious.
Soon, the two came to the end of the corridor, and Katrina's eyes suddenly brightened.
What Catrina didn't expect was that the palace turned out to be a polygonal ring-shaped building, with towering minarets built on each corner. But when compared to the building in the center of the palace, it's not too surprising.
In the center of the clearing, more than 100 meters wide, stands a church, also brightly lit with stained glass windows that reveal brilliant colors. It doesn't look unusual on the outside, and it's even a little rugged, but its height is more than fifty meters, much taller than the minaret above the palace.
The church was built inside the royal palace and was taller than the royal palace, which is unheard of. Katrina said secretly.
Over the past 300 years, the Church has been completely marginalized and reduced to an instrument of domination due to the lukewarm attitude of the countries of the Federation of Lafrey. However, the Church was strongly supported in Dvosk, and its adherents spread throughout the country and even in other countries, becoming no less than a force of royal power.
Looking at it this way, this should be the core of the church, could it be that the president of the Shadow Wizards Guild is still ......
"Squeak...... As Catrina was thinking, the heavy wooden door was slowly pushed open.
The first thing that catches the eye is the nave, with a black and white marble floor at the foot that leads up to the altar. Tall round arches on either side separate the seats from the church path. The vault at the top is filled with an upward impact, as if it is about to break through the sky, giving people an indescribable shock.
Stomp ...... The church was so quiet that only the footsteps of Claude and Katrina remained.
In front of the altar, a man in pale yellow robes stood with his back to them. His hair is very short and at first glance looks like a bald head.
Finally Claude stopped. I don't know if it was the atmosphere or other reasons, but at a distance of less than 100 meters, Katrina felt like she had walked for several minutes.
"Grown!, man has ......," Claude said on one knee.
Before Claude could finish speaking, the man turned around, and Claude's voice immediately stopped.
It was a creepy mask that split in two from the middle, half black and half white. Although the mouth outlined by the thin line was smiling, it was indescribably strange, like a cruel demon......
Even though she knew it was just a mask, Katrina unconsciously clenched the crystal ball in her hand and took a step back.
"You're the one who wants to make a deal with me?" The masked man ignored Claude and instead looked at Katrina, his gaze full of aggression.
The moment the two met their eyes, Katrina was struck by lightning. The lilac pupils behind the mask, which were exactly the same as herself, shattered the last of her luck.
And so it was...... Why...... Why should fate be so cruel to me?
Although she was fully mentally prepared, she still couldn't control her emotions at the moment when the truth came. Katrina's ears were ringing, her eyes were dark, and her body was tilted to the side.
