Chapter 948: Winter Lake Town
(a)
As a writer, sooner or later, she will face the deepest pain of her life. There's no way she's going around forever without letting it come to the pen. This is the fate of the writer.
But I think it's a good fate. This can help writers learn how to deal with the inevitable pain in life, and grow through these pains, so that life can be sublimated with beauty.
However, it takes time to learn from the pain.
Many years after that bloody afternoon, I have experienced a lot of things, and I finally began to face the biggest shock of my life.
I began to systematically write the book "Gino's Scimitar", which was very long.
Of course, when it first started, it wasn't a one.
It's a storyboard script.
At that time, it was also not called the name "Gino's Scimitar". Its first part is called "Taiping".
According to the original writing plan, its first part was a 50-80 episode TV series. Each episode is about 45 minutes in length.
It is a monologue first-person script, in which the heroine calmly narrates the story of her life, a bygone era, some vanished heroes, like a babbling stream flowing through the forest.
At that time, I was not yet free as a writer, and I was a long-term contractor of SPE.
Therefore, whether it is in terms of creative themes or creative genre selection, it is necessary to first take care of the marketing needs of SPE, and it is not completely arbitrary.
This kind of dancing in the shackles of the market is something that many writers have experienced before they became famous.

In "Taiping" ("Gino Scimitar" Part 1), the first scene that is written is the scene where Qin'er and Jinglong say goodbye by Baojing Lake.
And I wrote this scene in the small town of Winter Lake.
The description of Baojing Lake actually comes from both inner memories and the real Winter Lake.
Located on the outskirts of a large city at a high latitude in the Northern Hemisphere, Winter Lake Town is a well-known resort town.
Its outstanding features are: it is close to large cities, convenient transportation and life, and has large areas of primeval forests and subarctic grasslands, as well as ecologically rich marshes and a large rippling lake. People can not be too far away from the city life they are accustomed to, and still feel the life of living in the lap of nature.
Therefore, during the peak tourist season, it is crowded with tourists from all over the world.
In the harsh winter season, it is very cold, dripping into ice, and all the eaves are covered with thick ice edges that are half a meter or even more than a meter long. The roofs are covered with thick ice slopes. Sometimes, when a bird in the air flies, it falls and freezes to death. Birds that freeze to death are often seen in the wild. At that time, it was quite sparsely populated, and there were basically only local residents. The inhabitants of the area continue their quiet and closed life in exactly the same way that has been practiced for thousands of years. At that time, although the town was very deserted, it was the most charming.
And in the spring season, until the autumn when the leaves are falling, there will be a large number of tourists here, who bustle with the town, bringing all kinds of strange modern life and modern ways of vacationing.
Tempted by money, the local population often turns away from their traditional livelihoods: logging, hunting, fishing, growing wheat and corn, gathering and so on, to various tourism-related businesses.
All households will open their spare rooms as a family hotel or family restaurant to receive tourists from all over the world. Residents also serve as tour guides for tourists, leading them through all aspects of forest life for a good reward. That's the income they don't get from their traditional farming, fishing and hunting lives.
As a result, the town became prosperous and wealthy.
They used the income to further improve the tourist facilities, repair the town's monuments that can be visited, and develop many new attractions and safe resorts.
Subsequently, the town also set up a town office, a visitor center, duty-free shops, a supermarket, a petrol station, a first aid center, a fire station and a police station.
The town is becoming more and more modern.
They welcome outside investors to invest in better holiday homes and hotels, as well as better trails for the area.
It was in that context that our old employer, SPE, invested in a holiday camp there as a leisure benefit for the writers and staff who signed the contract.
There are a number of well-equipped cabins, neatly arranged in rows, and although they are small in size, they are equipped with wooden cots, desks, soft and warm bedding, cloakrooms, saunas, bathtubs, washing machines, fireplaces, induction cooktops and traditional stoves. The camp is also equipped with boats, paddles, life jackets, fishing rods, shotguns, tents, compasses, sleds, knives, axes, samovars, kitchenware, cutlery and other common holiday equipment.
It brought back many warm memories of my training camp in Bossan.
I loved this place. From the first time I visited here, I fell in love with it.
I decided to start working on the storyboard of Taiping here.
The holiday camp is set up on the banks of the River Ner, which crosses the town of Winter Lake. At night, when I write in the cottage with the lights up, the four fields are silent, and I can hear the river not far away, and the sound of the water flowing mightily through the town, rushing to the big city with the lights in the distance.
I often write all night, and I hear the sound of the Nell River all night.
To this day, when I go back and proofread the chapters I uploaded earlier, I still hear the sound of the river in my ears.

The first time I went on holiday to this camp was a year after seeing how it was built.
We weren't the first guests to come here on holiday, but it was fairly early.
When we arrived, everything in the camp was still new, and some of them hadn't even been used yet. Like double-barreled shotguns and canoes.
We arrived in town during the Chinese New Year. At this time, it is the coldest season in the town. The wind was howling all day long, the snow was heavy, and the roads were in very bad condition and inaccessible to people. But I like it a lot. Only at this time does the town reveal its original appearance for thousands of years, and the nature it shows is also the most authentic. It is the most shocking and nourishing for the withering and empty soul of modern people.
I was partnering with Mr. Yichen at the time. We write under the same or many common pseudonyms, translate, edit and proofread each other's works, and sometimes we co-write a book or a large screenplay. Mr. Yichen also illustrates our books with a variety of beautiful photographs and timeless illustrations. He is also a well-known photographer and illustrator at SPE. His photographs and paintings fetch a high fetch a high price in the market. If you can get his illustrations, the whole publication will be a lot more colorful.
We are gradually transitioning from the early teacher-student relationship to the relationship of close friends.
In a way, we're the best partners.
Yichen is the person I have the closest spiritual relationship with after Kaohsiung's death.
For him, so did I. 8)
