Chapter 556: The Value of Tranquility

You show up on the podium in the big classroom with a glass of water. Pen × fun × Pavilion www. biquge。 info
You're facing us.
S and his classmates bit their ears: "Oh no, today we have chemistry class again." ”
You hear S whispering, and you answer him, "Do you think that the disciplines are isolated from each other?" ”
You say, "Do you think shooting and chemistry are two different things?" ”
You say, "I tell you, no." ”
You hold up the palm of the hand that isn't holding the glass.
You say, "Look at your palms." When the palms of the hands are at the fingertips, they are all separated. However, all the way down the fingers, and at the end of the day, all the fingers converge in the same palm. ”
You say, "That's how all disciplines relate. When you learn very superficially, you feel like each of them is separate. However, no matter which subject, when you learn it deeply enough, when you go deep enough, you will find that it is integrated with all the disciplines. Just like our big classroom, no matter you come through the front door, the back door, the side door to the left and right, no matter which door you enter through and enter, it's the same space. ”
Say, "Whichever door you enter, it's the same." No matter which gate you go, whether it's a shooting gate or a chemistry gate, it's the same at the end. The point is, no matter which door you go, you need to persevere, go deep, and persevere. ”
You say, "If you just dabble in everything and play with everything, and everything is ordinary and ordinary, then no matter which door you go to, you will not be able to see what is at the end of the door." ”
S looked at his palms and opened his mouth.
He opened his mouth and stopped there for a few seconds, then hurriedly closed his mouth tightly.

You watch S keep your mouth tightly shut.
You say, "Alright, let's get back to business." Now let's take a look at the value of tranquility. ”
You grab a handful of sand from the iron plate on the table, and you sprinkle some sand inside the glass. You muddy it with a glass rod.
Then, you tell S to come to the front. You say, "Now you can speak your mind." ”
S's blushed and made a tongue-sticking grimace.
You ask him to look down at the glass.
Say, "Can you see the chandelier on the top through the cup?" ”
s shook his head. He said, "I can't see it." It's all yellowish inside. ”
You put the glass in front of him, and you say, "Can you see the student on the other side through the glass?" ”
S said, "I can't see it." ”
You ask us, "Is the chandelier at this time?" Is it hidden? ”
We said, "No." The chandelier has always been there, it has never been hidden. ”
You ask, "So, are you hiding from him when you are not there at the moment?" ”
We said, "No." ”
You ask, "Then why can't you see the chandelier and your classmates through the cup?" ”
S said, "Because when the water is muddy, it is not transparent." ”
You continue to ask, "What do you mean by turbidity?" ”
S said: "It's just that there's a lot of stuff moving around in it. ”
You say, "Very good answer." ”

You put the drinking glass on the table.
You say, "Now, let's leave this cup here." We don't do anything, just leave it there. ”
We looked at the glass of water together. A lot of impurities rise and fall in it.
10 minutes passed. Impurities begin to precipitate. The layer of water above becomes clear.
Another 5 minutes passed. All the impurities have settled to the bottom of the cup. The water becomes transparent and clear again.
You call S up again.
You say, "Look again." Can I see the chandelier on the ceiling? ”
S said: "See, it's clear. ”
You put the cup in front of him again: "What about the classmate opposite?" ”
S said, "Seeing is like through glass." It's clear. ”
You show that glass of water to each of us.
Then, you ask us, "Why do we have to wait for the target paper to be brought to us, or with the help of a telescope?" ”
You say, "Why can't we see the consequences of our actions?" Can't see what the future holds? Why is it that when the light is dim, it is pitch black in front of us? ”
You say, "Because it's cloudy." ”
You say, "This glass of water is our body and mind." When our mind and body are cloudy, we lose sight of many things, even though they are all unmistakably present. ”
You say, "It's like this chandelier, like the classmates opposite, things are not hidden from us, but we can't see them because of the cloudiness of our bodies and minds." ”
You say, "So, a person who is physically and mentally confused, really can't trust his eyes too much." It cannot be assumed that what is invisible to the eye does not exist. ”
Speaking of which, you look at me.
I remembered the 10 bullets that disappeared.
(iv)
You say, "That's the value of serenity." ”
"To be quiet is not to move. It can be clear without moving. If it's clear, it's transparent. Transparency restores the natural reflection function of water. We can see the world that has always existed and that we have never been able to see. ”
You say, "We're going to lie here for two hours, stand for two hours, or kneel for two hours a day, and we're going to endure the summer heat and the winter cold, we're going to endure mosquito bites, we're going to be thundering, we're going to be in pain, we're going to be upset, we're here year after year, day after day, and we're holding on to the same position no matter what's going on outside." ”
You say, "If we keep doing this, one day, the impurities in our body and mind will settle down on their own, and our body and mind will become clear and transparent." Then we will be able to see the true reward. Compared to it, the championship, the overall ranking, the honor of the school, the personal bonus points, the admiration of friends, and the worship of the opposite sex are actually nothing. That's the highest reward. Compared with it, all the rewards of the world will be overshadowed. ”
You say, "But, as you have just seen, clarification takes time. It doesn't happen instantaneously. ”
"And, in the process of clarifying, we see that a lot of impurities will go up and down, making us feel more confusing than before," you said. Each of you has had this experience when you train, as soon as you pick up a gun, you will feel that there are a lot of troubled thoughts in your heart, and your body is itchy and uncomfortable. But that's a good sign. That means we're on the way to clarification. At this time, a move is equivalent to shaking the cup again. So, no matter what, you can't follow along. ”
You say, "The more chaotic it is, the more don't follow it." Do you understand? At this time, steadfastness is everything. Staying fixed is everything. ”
You say, "Give yourself time." Believe it will happen. When the time comes, it will surely happen naturally. ”

I know it's going to take a long time. However, I didn't expect it to be so long.
10 years have passed.
One afternoon, I was on vacation in Bali.
I finished reading the Sutra of Tranquility, a Buddhist scripture of Southern Buddhism that teaches meditation methods.
I sat alone on the veiled wooden floor.
I straightened my spine and sat cross-legged on the futon.
I watched the white veil flutter slightly in the breeze.
I half-closed my eyes and began to meditate for the first time in my life.
The breath comes in from the tip of the nose, travels through the entire airway, permeates the body, and then gathers up again, becomes the breath, and exhales from the tip of the nose.
I sat quietly like this for a long time.
When I opened my eyes, I saw that my lower limbs were gone.
Precepts give birth to determination, and set birth to wisdom.
That's when I realized that this was the process of clearing the body and mind that you were talking about that day.

"All secrets are in deep tranquility." (To be continued.) )
