Chapter 904: Afterword 2: Yichen Becomes a Monk (1)

Time flies. 【】--. .
The deceased are far away in memory, decomposing and rotting in the grave, and life, like a surging river, constantly pours from the future to the present.
In the blink of an eye, Kaohsiung left us and was about to enter elementary school, and Kaohsiung's eldest son had already finished college. Sue never remarried. She has learned so much from her first marriage, and now, for marriage and love, she no longer has all the romantic fantasies of her youth. She told me that she had been completely cured. She may never have a relationship with marriage and love in the future. In her spare time, she turned more to religious and artistic pursuits. This can also be seen in the evolution of the style of her design works. Her current clothing design always has a strong Tianwen color, religious complexes and symbolic intentions are omnipresent, and the whole design is more and more ethereal and abstract, and it is unique in the design interface. Su was also partly involved in the management of the commercial sector left behind in Kaohsiung, and became more and more enthusiastic about public welfare activities.
And we, the business left behind in Kaohsiung, which was almost bought out of the bank, have successfully recovered and thrived again after a difficult transition period of three years with little to no profit.
We were finally able to put an end to the extreme financial embarrassment, get rid of the huge financial pressure, and return to normal business life.
Finally, I no longer have to work hard to write columns, articles, literature, and movies for SPE in order to get enough cash.
I began to learn from the old-timers of SPE, and more and more of the manuscript fees and copyright income are donated continuously, regularly, or even in full, to various public welfare channels related to publishing and film industry institutions. 【】
In the process, I have become more and more deeply aware of the ubiquitous pain and suffering of life in this world, and I am more and more able to empathize with people I don't know and all kinds of life beings who are struggling to survive.
For example, in the war-torn Syrian town of Aleppo, where bombing destroyed all the pumping stations and forced 100,000 children and more adults to depend on sewage for their livelihoods. Because of the lack of doctors, the injured children had to lie on the floor and die slowly. Volunteer Hannah Singh sees a two-month-old baby in the hospital. Soon after she was born, she was seriously injured by a hysterical mother who stabbed her in the abdomen with a bayonet. The desperate mother said, "It's better to kill my daughter and send her to heaven than to stay in this hell on earth!" ”
We are part of a United Nations Mother and Child Relief Project, delivering 4 million litres of drinking water to the region every day, drilling more than 70 wells and providing life-saving packages to 7,000 children under the age of 5 and 1,500 pregnant women. At the same time, three paediatric and maternity clinics have been built, providing medical services to 18,600 local maternal and infant refugees. In addition, the project provided relief services such as vaccination, psychological assistance, self-study programmes, basic stationery and sporting goods to children and pregnant women in the area, and repaired 23 schools destroyed by the fighting.
But even as our efforts continued, the living conditions of the children in the area were still dire. One of the girls' schools we were responsible for building could only continue to operate during the war. The children told us that the snipers in the neighborhood would always aim at the children on the playground and pretend to shoot to scare them. In order to protect the children's safety, we had to build a steel wall around the school so that the children would not be shot or accidentally injured by frenzied snipers. The children put all kinds of bright pictures on the steel wall and named it "Wall of Hope".
In the process of participating in these projects, I have become more and more aware of the necessity and difficulty of doing charity, and at the same time, I continue to remember and relive the enlightenment education you gave me in the ward: the sufferings of birth, old age, sickness and death are the same in all lives. You told me not to focus only on the pain of oneself and the pain of one's love, not to be so narrow-minded, but to care equally for all, equally for every life.

At this stage, Mr. Yichen took the lead in starting naked donations. Again and again, he increased the proportion of public welfare donations from copyright income, until he completely donated all the income from a single work, and even donated all the royalty income for the whole year.
After making the first public donation of all the royalty income for the whole year, he came to me with great emotion and said, "After so many years, I have finally achieved this: take from the public, and give it back to the public." ”
During this period, Mr. Yichen hung a small wooden sign written by himself in front of his study. There are three Chinese characters written on it, "Weeping Willow Spring".
I asked him what that meant.
He replied, "I love weeping willows." There are a lot of flowers and trees, all of which come in spring to seek development, riding the east wind to go up desperately, but seeking to fight for strange and beautiful things, but seeking to reach the sky and cover the sun. Only the willow tree, gently drooping in the wind, the branches and leaves do not forget the roots, always shining on the cold moon in the low pool, pedestrians on the road. ”
Shortly after Mr. Yichen hung out the wooden sign of "Weeping Willow Spring", his wife unfortunately passed away due to illness. Middle-aged and widowed, Mr. Yichen was very sad about this, and his mood was very low for a while.
Since this incident, he has lived in seclusion, absorbed his body and mind, gradually withdrawn from his busy external affairs, and spent more and more time studying traditional Chinese culture, especially the Chinese version of the Mahayana Buddhist scriptures. Starting with the Great Nirvana Sutra, the Lotus Sutra, the Lengyan Sutra, the Diamond Sutra and the Huayan Sutra, he gradually embarked on the path of meditation. Every day after work, he refrained from all social activities, and retreated at home alone to concentrate on meditation.
With the continuous deepening of his study and meditation, his birth and reputation in the industry have been widely praised, and many people who love Buddhism will ask him for Buddhist teachings, intentionally or unconsciously.
Later, he even developed a Buddhist study group within SPE's publishing group, which focused on studying and helping each other every weekend, and the group was called the "Bodhi Society".
Inspired and influenced by Mr. Yi Chen, I often participate in their studies and meditation in my spare time, and am an informal member of the Bodhi Society.
The more I learned about the Buddha's teachings, the stronger my interest in Buddhism became.
I also began to systematically read Buddhist scriptures, such as the Legend of the Buddha, the Legend of the White Lotus, the Sutra of the Last Teachings, the Sutra of the Forty-two Chapters, and the Sutras of the Ahames.
When autumn came, Mr. Yichen began to cut back on food, first cutting off the drill powder, then cutting off dinner, realizing the first day of the day, and regularly leading the congregation to the local Mahayana monastery on the fifth, fifteenth, and twenty-fifth days of each month to observe the eight precepts of lay monks.
Although life is becoming more and more hard, Mr. Yichen's spirit is getting better and better, his thinking is becoming more and more agile, his eyes are becoming more and more bright, and his figure has become slender and capable.
As if to foresee his own decision in the future, Mr. Yichen pays more and more attention to cultivating successors for himself in his spare time, and also pays more and more attention to passing on his work ideas to us post-scholars.
