Chapter Seventy-Eight: Facing the Boar
"Nima, these monkeys are really against the sky." Louis cursed.
"If people don't offend me, I won't offend anyone, it seems that it will not work without using force." Katyusha removed the dagger from her waist and aimed it at one of them, knocking it down. Then I thought about it for a while, my goal was to recapture the can, and it was really unnecessary to kill, and besides, there was only one dagger per person, which was not enough in the face of a large number of monkeys.
She pointed to the gravel in the clearing: "Let's use the stones to teach these monkeys a lesson and take back our food." Everyone agreed with understanding, picked up the stones on the ground, aimed at the nearest monkey, and threw them with great force, and the four flying stones accurately hit the four unlucky monkeys, who, in a wail, threw down the cans in their hands: one was empty, two fell to the ground, and the food was scattered all over the floor, and soon it was crawling with ants and unknown insects, and one was unopened.
The screams of the monkeys were alarmed, and the cunning creatures quickly swam between the branches, tossing the cans in their hands as a baton to their accomplices who had settled in the distance, diverting the stolen supplies.
"Hurry up, they move faster through the trees than we do on the ground, and if they lose it, they will be in trouble." Olivia exclaimed.
Everyone picked up the stones on the ground again, but this time, facing the moving target, everyone except for the well-trained Katyusha felt that it was difficult. The rocks that flew out missed their targets. Only Katyusha again managed to hit two targets, obtaining another unopened can.
By the time everyone bent down to pick up the stones, the monkeys had disappeared into the woods.
"I miss the Gatling gun, if I have one in my hand now, I won't kill these guys." Louis said hatefully.
"Forget it, we only recovered two of the more than twenty cans of canned food, and it seems that we can only accept this depressing ending. Let's pick them up first. Hugh walked over to the can in front of him and picked up the last remaining food supply.
"I can only find other living creatures to satisfy my hunger, and there are a lot of things that can be eaten on this island, but the taste is not as good as canned food." Olivia quipped, trying to temper the unpleasant atmosphere.
With most of the food being stolen and the team having to find other ways to fill the gap, the beach was empty except for shells and seaweed washed ashore, so everyone had to head to the jungle in search of food to feed their stomachs.
After more than 2 hours of searching, everyone finally found a fat marmot on a slightly raised mound on the ground, and this guy was looking out of the hole.
"Can you eat this thing?" Olivia asked incredulously.
"If cooked properly, it tastes similar to pigeon meat, but it doesn't have much meat and can only serve one person's dinner." Hugh motioned for everyone to bend down, lest they alarm the alert little creature on the surface, and let the duck fly again.
Katyusha slowly twisted her body, adjusted the appropriate angle, and was about to use the dagger in her hand to take down the prey, not wanting to hear the sound of "hum hum" nearby, a male wild boar close to adulthood appeared in front of everyone, it seemed to have found the delicious food at his fingertips, and was about to run to the marmot with his hooves, but he didn't pay attention to the noise he made, which alarmed the prey, and the marmot's head disappeared into the hole in the mound like lightning, making the boar pounce.
"Do the animals on this island like to get along with our food?" Louis raised an eyebrow and grumbled.
"Since I scared away a small one, I sent a big one. Let's take the guy and go under the knife! Olivia pointed the point of his knife at the wild boar, who had never seen a human in his life, and had no idea what they were talking about.
"We don't have a gun in our hands, it's better to be cautious, look at this guy's size, even if he gets twenty or thirty knives in his body, I can be sure that he won't fall, and he can still stand up tenaciously and fight with us, and it still has the upper hand in terms of physical strength." Katyusha analyzed the situation.
"She's right, the boar's mane grinds on the bark all year round, rolls in the mud, and becomes as tough as leather armor, and it is difficult to bring it down if you stab it with a knife, and even if this guy accidentally falls, it will be difficult for the four of us to press it to the ground and subdue it." Hugh looked at the wild boar in front of him, and the guy had dug out an earthworm from under the grass and was happily eating it.
"We can stab it in the neck with a knife, and I don't believe that it will not die if it is the point of attack." Louis looked at the boar's massive head.
"It's best not to make such an attempt, because you only have one chance to attack, and if it is stabbed, it will surely have enough strength to seek revenge on you, and with the strength and speed of the boar, it will be difficult for you to safely launch a second attack. And even if you stab it in the neck, it will be able to run for you in spite of the gushing blood, and it can run wild for 2 to 5 minutes, depending on its physique and strength, before it is completely unable to move. Hugh rejected the offer.
"Isn't there anything we can do with this guy without a gun in our hands?" Louis asked reluctantly.
"It's not impossible." Hugh pondered for a moment and continued: "Under the current conditions, the only way to deal with this guy is to outwit and not to storm, I have a plan, but I will sacrifice some of our already small food. ”
"Are you going to use canned food as bait to lure this guy into trapping?" Katyusha asked.
"That's exactly what I mean." Hugh surveyed his surroundings.
"I don't agree, just such a little food has to be given to wild boars, in case we end up with a meat bun beating a dog and there is no return, and we don't have the right food before dark, wouldn't we go hungry and sleep until dawn? I don't want this night to be so hard. Louis shook his head to express his displeasure.
"Don't worry, listen to other people's plans." Olivia interrupted Louis's complaints.
"I mean, these two boxes of canned food won't be enough for everyone tonight, and we'll have to get more food sooner or later to get through the last few days before we get rescued, so instead of eating them, let's catch big fish with a long line and use them as bait to bring down this wild boar in front of us." Hugh explained the plan.
