蝃蝀 (dìdōng): A woman who eloped

The rainbow has seven colors and is formed by rain and sunlight. Because of their lack of knowledge of nature, the ancients thought that the rainbow was due to the disharmony between yin and yang and the disorder of marriage, so they regarded it as an evil spirit. The rainbow appears in the east, which is naturally a very taboo thing, so no one dares to point a finger at it.

There is a woman who does not hesitate to leave her parents and brother to marry to the person she likes. This was an act of elopement, which was spurned in the eyes of the people of the time, and everyone symbolized the evil rainbow as a symbol of the married woman, emphasizing that the woman's marriage was disordered. Everyone even began to scold meanly: A woman like this has ruined the etiquette of marriage. They believe that the elopement only knows the joy of men and women, but does not know the importance of chastity, which is a perverse and unreasonable act, which is heartbreaking.

But from the perspective of modern people, this eloped woman who did not obey her mother's order was actually a brave woman who rebelled against the religious system and fought for the freedom of marriage. Feudal society has extremely strict etiquette regulations for weddings and funerals, such as marriages must be based on the orders of parents and matchmakers, and the parties have no right to choose their own mates. Without the understanding of her parents, this woman eloped to the person she liked without hesitation in pursuit of the happiness of love. This kind of bold elopement is undoubtedly intolerable by feudal etiquette, so some so-called righteous gentlemen and gentlemen severely reprimanded her as a woman with corrupt morals. Far from winning widespread sympathy, her angry protest has become the finger of a thousand people.

The literati who could write poetry wrote like this:

A rainbow came out of the east, and no one dared to point to it. A woman is married, far away from her parents and brother.

Chaohong appeared in the west, and it was raining all morning. A woman is married, far from her brother and parents.

Such a wicked woman destroys the good etiquette of marriage! Too untrustworthy and unreasonable! I don't know what my parents do!

"Xiang Mouse": An aristocratic ruler who is not even as good as a mouse

The comparison of rulers to rats is both humorous and a good expression of the deep hatred of the common people. The rulers deceived the people with hypocritical etiquette, and they were even inferior to rats. When the people faced the unscrupulous rulers, they would be sarcastic at first, but they couldn't bear it anymore, so they had to scold.

Comparing the ugly, cunning, and stealing rats with the incumbents of the patriotic state shows how incorruptible and shameless the incumbents are. Not only did the people denounce them, but they also wanted them to die early, lest they tarnish the noble word "man." There are too many ugly things about the nobles of the country, such as Wei Huangong's younger brother Zhou called for the killing of Huan Gong to establish himself as Wei Jun, Wei Xuangong forcibly married Xuan Jiang, the fiancée of the crown prince, Xuan Jiang and Xuan Jiang conspired to kill the crown prince, Wei Huigong and his brother Qianmu fought for the throne, Wei Yigong liked the crane to be extravagant, and the son was stubborn and his stepmother Xuan Jiang was chaotic and so on. Fathers and sons turn against each other, brothers fight each other, husbands take their sons and wives, and sons marry their fathers and concubines, none of them are not extremely ugly and shameless. Birds and beasts still love the group, but these incumbents are not even as good as birds and beasts, so that the people hate them and gnash their teeth, and even curse them.

Rats have skins, but people have no manners. If a person has no manners, what is he doing if he does not die?

Rats have teeth, but people don't know shame. If a person does not know shame, what are they waiting for if he does not die?

Rats have limbs, but people have no etiquette. If people don't have religion, why don't they die quickly?

"干旄" (máo): Eclectic and talented

During the reign of Wei Wengong, taxes were reduced, criminal penalties were used prudently, and agriculture was developed; attaching importance to handicrafts and cultural education; appointing competent men as officials; alliance with the vassal states of the Central Plains; Developing military strength, increasing the number of chariots from thirty to three hundred, and sending troops to destroy the state of Xing.

The doctor of the defense of the country was ordered by the Duke of Wen to erect the banner of recruiting talents, and went to various places with gifts to visit and recruit talents. According to the ability of the talents, they were given 4 horses, 5 horses, and 6 horses as gifts, which showed Wei Wengong's thirst for talent and the good atmosphere of the country's prosperity.

The Doctor planted the banner of seeking merit on the carriage, under which hung the tail of a yak and the feathers of a bird, and the flag was bordered with white silk thread, and on the flag was painted Hayabusa (隼pronounced sǔn). The falcon is a carnivorous bird, at the top of the bird food chain, a daytime bird of prey, mostly solitary, it has an extremely strong ability to fly, and it is also one of the animals with the best eyesight. Hayabusa is believed to be brave and resolute and is well regarded. Wei Wengong painted a falcon on the banner of seeking talent, showing his determination and courage to govern the country.

So later generations praised Wei Wengong:

Raise the flag and hang the yak tail, and drive the suburbs like flying. The white silk thread is inlaid with the flag, and the four good horses follow each other. What should the beautiful wise man give to him?

Raise the flag and draw a falcon bird, and the car is already in the near city. On the white silk thread woven flag, five good horses are heeled. What should that beautiful sage give?

Raising the flag and hanging the bird feathers, the car has reached the city. On the white silk thread sewn flag, six good horses galloped back. What should the beautiful sage complain about?

"Ride": Saving the country is the fire in my heart

Mrs. Xu Mu, the daughter of Wei Gongzi and his stepmother Xuan Jiang, was born in the Spring and Autumn Period in the capital of the Wei Kingdom, Chaoge, and married Xu Mugong, the monarch of the Xu State at that time, when she grew up, she was called Mrs. Xu Mu. Mrs. Xu Mu is the first patriotic female poet recorded in the history of Chinese literature, she is not only intelligent and talented by nature, but also beautiful and colorful, and can sing and dance. After she married Xu Mugong, she always missed her hometown, often climbed high and looked far away to express her feelings of worrying about the country, and borrowed poems to sing her aspirations, her works include "Bamboo Pole", "Spring Water", etc., which are included in the "Book of Songs".

In 660 B.C., Beidi invaded the country, Mrs. Xu Mu heard the news of the destruction of the country, she was very sad, she wanted Xu Mugong to help recover the country, but Xu Mugong was afraid of burning himself, so he did not dare to send troops. Mrs. Xu Mu was angry and hateful, and when she learned that the monarch of the country was temporarily residing in Caoyi, she resolutely rushed there in person. The ministers of Xu Guo went to stop and reprimand, but Mrs. Xu Mu was convinced that her decision was beyond reproach and that she would never return, so she wrote the poem "Carriage" to show her strong will and determination to return to China.

After Mrs. Xu Mu returned to Weiguo, she first unloaded the items on the car to relieve the refugees, and then discussed the strategy of recovering the country with the monarchs and ministers of Weiguo. They recruited more than 4,000 people, and while settling down to earn a living, they also organized their army to practice martial arts and conduct training. At the same time, Mrs. Xu Mu also suggested asking for help from the Qi State. Qi Huan, the monarch of Qi, was moved by Mrs. Xu Mu's patriotism, so he sent his son Gongzi to lead troops to rescue Wei Guo, and at the same time, Song, Xu and other countries also sent people to participate in the war to help Wei Guo repel the Di army and recover the lost land. Since then, there has been a turning point for the defense of the country. Two years later, Duke Wei Wen rebuilt the capital in Chuqiu, restoring Weiguo's status among the vassal states, which lasted for another 400 years.

Mrs. Xu Mu rushed halfway to Caoyi and was caught up by Dr. Xu Guo, who persuaded her to go back out of consideration for Mrs. Xu Mu's safety. She denounced these vulgar officials who were short-sighted, expressing a woman's firm belief in loving the motherland and saving the country.

Mrs. Xu Mu wrote:

Drove the light car and galloped quickly, and went back to mourn the marquis. The whip drove the road far away, and it was not long before he arrived in Caoyi. Dr. Xu Guo traveled to me and made me worried.

If you refuse to agree with me, how can you turn back and return to the promised land. Compared with your bad heart, I can't give up thinking about the country. They didn't agree with me, and they couldn't cross the river and return to their hometown. Compared to your poor heart, I am in love with the country.

Ascend to the hill and pick fritillary to cure melancholy. Women are soft-hearted and nostalgic, and they have their own reasons and clues. The people of Xu Guo blamed me, I was really arrogant and stupid.

I walked slowly in the field, and the wheat was thick on the ridges. If you want to go to a big country to complain, who can rely on whom to help? Doctors and gentlemen, don't be angry with me. You've thought about it hundreds of times, so why don't I run it myself.
