Chapter Sixty-Eight: The Bayonet Goes Out, the Corpse Moves Forward!!
On December 1, 1937, Liu Xing, commander-in-chief of the Jiangyin Defense Campaign, convened a meeting in Jiangyin, which was attended by Deputy Commander-in-Chief Major General Zeng Yiding, Colonel Li Yuchun, Acting Chief of Staff of the 112th Division, Lieutenant General Xu Kang, Commander of the Jiangyin Fortress, Lieutenant General Dai Zhiqi, Deputy Commander of the 103rd Division, and Lieutenant General Ouyang Ge, Principal of the Dianlei School.
At the meeting, Commander-in-Chief Liu first personally told Li Yuchun, acting chief of staff, that he had arranged for Division Commander Huo Shouyi to be urgently transported to the rear to recuperate from his injuries. Li Yuchun, the commander in chief of the two divisions, who learned about the situation of the land battle at the meeting, all suggested retreating, but Ouyang Ge was noncommittal, but Commander Xu Kang fought to defend to the death.
During the meeting, Commander-in-Chief Liu Xing received a telephone call from the Nanjing Garrison Commander's Headquarters informing him to retreat, so he issued an order to retreat on the spot. Commander-in-Chief Liu ordered that from 8 o'clock on the night of January 1, the Jiangyin fortress would carry out cover firing outside the west gate of Jiangyin to cover the troops' breakthrough. After 12 o'clock, the fortress was destroyed, and the fortress personnel crossed the river and retreated from Jingjiang to Zhenjiang.
At 4 o'clock in the morning on December 1, the 112th Division broke through, and the defenders of the county town were transferred to Zhenjiang led by Ma Wanzhen. But at this time, the army had advanced to the area of Chenpi Lane at the northern foot of Huashan.
More than 300 remnants of the 667th Regiment broke through to Chen Pi Lane and encountered the Yue army, and the whole regiment suffered casualties after a fierce battle. After the army captured Huashan, they carried out a massacre in Jijiawan at the foot of the mountain, and 47 innocent people were brutally killed.
The 103rd Division also received an order to retreat, and at midnight on December 1, the 103rd Division was ordered to break through. However, because the retreat order was given in such a hurry, no effective communication was established with the 112th Division.
The 1st Battalion of the 618th Regiment and the adjacent 613th Regiment also received orders to retreat at the same time.
The command of the 1st battalion retreated and was placed in the hands of Goofy.
At this time, the 1st Battalion suffered most of the casualties and had basically lost its combat effectiveness, and the Yue Army seemed to have sensed the retreat attempt of the 103rd Division and began a more frantic attack.
With the help of nightfall, Gao Fei concentrated all the grenades and explosives, and with his 6th company in charge of covering, he buried a large number of explosives along the way to prevent the pursuit of the Japanese army.
At 1 a.m. on December 1, the 6th Company, which had completed the blocking mission, began to withdraw from its position. The last people in charge of the break were Yu Zhenhai and Zheng Yi.
These two people didn't seem to know what the danger was, and they were smoking cigarettes and chatting until the army entered the explosion zone, which unhurriedly drowned the army in the explosion
613 regiment.
Colonel Luo Yibin, the commander of the 613th Regiment, who was responsible for covering the division headquarters, and Colonel Wei Zixuan, who was attached to the regiment, knew that he had a heavy responsibility and did not dare to slack off in the slightest.
When the 613th Regiment and the 103rd Division entered Qianjia Village, west of the county seat, they were suddenly attacked by the troops from the direction of Xiagang.
The army used fierce firepower to make the 613 regiment chaotic, and Luo Yibin hissed and commanded the troops, arranging defenses and organizing a breakthrough at the same time.
"Tuanza! Tuanza! Wei Zixuan almost stumbled over: "It's the division headquarters that has lost contact!" β
"What?" Luo Yibin almost jumped up and grabbed his regimental attachment: "What's the matter?" What about the regimental headquarters? What about the regimental headquarters! β
"I don't know, I don't know!" Wei Zixuan shook his head again and again: "The attack of the army was too sudden, and as soon as we clashed, our connection with the division headquarters was cut off!" β
Luo Yibin's face was solemn, and the situation had reached a very serious point!
Losing contact with the division headquarters, the entire 613 Regiment was surrounded by the army, and what was even worse was that after a series of fierce battles, the 613 Regiment was short of ammunition and the soldiers were tired, and it became a big question whether it could stand out.
"Blow the assembly trumpet!" Suddenly, Luo Yibin said loudly.
The assembly horn sounded, and the exhausted brothers of the 613th Regiment were gathered. They saw that their regimental commanders and regimental attachΓ©s were holding their bayonet rifles tightly.
"Brethren, the last hour has come!" Luo Yibin's voice was calm but calm, and the gunfire of the nearby army did not affect him at all:
"We are surrounded by Orientals, and we have lost contact with the division! Brethren, there is only one way ahead of us! Stand out! All, on the bayonet! The bayonet is outward, and the corpse is forward! β
The bayonet is outward, and the corpse is forward!
Luo Yibin and Wei Zixuan glanced at each other, and then slowly stood at the forefront of the 613 regiment!
They are the highest commanders here, they must stand at the front of the team, and they are willing to be the first to bear the bullets of the army!!
Luo Yibin took a deep breath, and then, his voice was magnificent, forever floating in the sky above Qianjia Village:
"Blow the trumpet of the charge, bayonet forward!"
In the early morning of December 1, 1937, the 613th Regiment of the 103rd Division of the National Revolutionary Army was attacked by the Yue Army in Qianjia Village.
Luo Yibin and Wei Zixuan, the two chief and deputy commanders of the 613 Regiment, rushed to the forefront of the team from the very beginning of the breakthrough!
Fight to the death!
The machine guns of the army can't stop these brave and fearless people! The artillery fire of the army could not frighten these Chinese [***] people who had long been put on the line of life and death!
They are the backbone of the country, they are the soul of the nation!
The shouts of killing sounded in Qianjia Village, and the indomitable shouts sounded in the encirclement of the Yue army!
Wei Zixuan fell, his body was full of blood, his eyes were wide open, he saw the brothers rushing hard, he saw the flag of the 103rd Division flying high. He saw:
His own regiment leader, Luo Yibin, was struggling to crawl forward, crawling
"Tuanza," Wei Zixuan called weakly.
Maybe God couldn't bear to see this scene, among the guns and shouts of killing, Luo Yibin actually heard Wei Zixuan's voice.
Luo Yibin moved towards Wei Zixuan little by little, and every time he climbed, he would leave a trail of blood behind him.
He finally climbed in front of Wei Zixuan, and then smiled: "Zixuan, it's not good." β
Wei Zixuan also smiled: "Tuanzao, you can't do it either." β
"yes." Luo Yibin trembled and wanted to put his hand in his pocket to get a cigarette, but after trying several times without success, he finally dropped his hand to the ground helplessly: "Choose, we are all going to die." β
"Dead, dead." Wei Zixuan sighed: "I really want to eat a bite of the prickly pear from our hometown." β
As he spoke, he used his last strength to lie on the ground and salute Luo Yibin: "Tuanzao, I'll go first." β
"Wait for me, choose yourself, when we get to Huangquan Road, let's kill the Orientals together!" Luo Yibin smiled, fearless.
Wei Zixuan slowly closed his eyes.
Luo Yibin breathed a sigh of relief slightly, as if relieved, and then he suddenly said loudly:
"Brothers, kill the enemy!"
