Chapter 110: To England (Part II)
The night before boarding, Parks had nothing to do, and he went to the company, where he saw Wales, Nexon, and Compton sitting around a table with wine glasses and a bottle of wine on the table. Winters was shaving at the side of the table, he was very careful about his appearance, and he wanted to look clean and not like a refugee before he went back.
"Wow-oh finally see you, Parks!" Compton whistled and waved at him, "Just now Dick also said, let's die, you won't participate in our game, I didn't expect you to come!" β
"Play what? Blackjack? Parks smiled and sat down at the table.
"I also told you, you will never win Lacey's money, do you choose to believe it or not?" The corners of Winters' mouth twitched as he hung his beard, wanting to laugh, but he was afraid of pulling the muscles in his face.
"I'd like to ask if Parks has enough money!" Nickerson smiled, "Come on, play with us, it's idle now anyway, and we'll go to the UK tomorrow." Why don't you win all your money and head to London for some fun? β
"London?" Wales shook his head, "If there's a holiday, I can't wait to meet Betty." God, I don't know how excited she will be when she sees me. β
"Do you want to play?" Wales said to Pals, "We're one man away, Dick, he's already a captain, and he's decided not to deal with these things anymore." He changed his habits. β
Winters had finished his beard and was wiping his face with a towel, and when he heard Wales's words, he couldn't help but smile at him: "Yes, I have already made a change." β
"No more blackjack?" Nickson said in surprise.
"No, I've changed the way I play," Winters laughs, "I'm already a captain." I should learn some new ways to play, this kind of clichΓ© doesn't appeal to me anymore! He shrugged his shoulders.
"Oh-," Wales groaned, "I hate bureaucracy!" β
"Are you going to deal the cards?" "I've thought about it, I've decided to win a lot before I go back to England, and then I'll go to London for a good time." Hurry up, I can't wait! Parks sat down, took a sip of his wine, and began to urge.
"Let's see who slaughters whom!" Not to be outdone, Compton muttered.
A few people were about to start when they heard a knock on the door. Winters walked over, and then saw Moore standing in the doorway, he glanced inside the room, and then said to Winters, "Sir, I don't want to disturb you, but ...... There's one thing I want your permission for! β
Winters motioned for him to wait outside, then put on his military hat and walked out with him, looking at him with a smile on his face, "Alright, private, do you have anything to tell me now?" β
At this moment, Moore suddenly made a gesture to the side, and in Winters's astonished eyes, Malach flashed out from behind a tent, holding a large cardboard box in his hand, and walked towards Winters's tent, placing it at the door of the tent. Then he stood in front of Winters with Moore and saluted him.
Winters returned a military salute, and couldn't help frowning, "What the hell are you doing?" β
Moore looked a little embarrassed, but he still mustered up the courage and said, "That's right, we have some fruit for you." You know, we're going to spend the next few days on the sea, and it's going to be hard without these new things. Luckily, we found something, so we sent it to you! β
Winters nodded and smiled, "Well, thank you." But if there's anything else, tell me quickly! Winters knew that these two guys weren't the ones to stop, so he made their purpose straightforward.
Malachi nodded, "Yes, sir, we found a motorcycle with a side box in the field camp, and no one thought the car was theirs, so we thought, if possible, we would take it to England." Is that okay? Sir? β
Winters looked at the two of them, glanced at the box that was placed at the door of the barracks, and said, "I don't know whose car it is, so you can do it." Also, thank you for the fruit. Then he went to the door of the tent, picked up the box of fruit, and went in.
"Well, it looks like he agreed!" Moore watched Winters move the fruit in, and couldn't help but pat Malachi on the shoulder excitedly and smiled, "Looks like we've got to prepare the last one." Marachi, tomorrow take your good wine and your booty, stand guard on the ramp of the landing ship, and then we will go with that darling to England! β
"God, I'm a little excited when I think about this!" Malaki and Moore hooked their shoulders and walked towards the camp.
When Winters walked into the barracks, he placed the fruit on a box and made a loud noise, this box of fruit was indeed heavy enough. He clapped his hands and opened the box.
"Hey, Dick, what's that?" Nickerson smelled the fruit, and he shouted at Winters, "Who did you just bribe?" I want pineapple! β
Compton whistled as well. Ignoring Parks' urging, he said, "It's over, I won't follow!" Then he exclaimed, "I want pineapple too, I love the smell so much." β
"Is it Moore and Malachi?" Parks flipped over a card, then exclaimed in surprise, "Oh my God, I'm killing it again." It's a double bet, God really cares for me! Then he watched as a couple of guys reluctantly threw the money on the table. Parks unceremoniously put all the bills in his pocket.
"Damn it!" The three people around the table scolded in annoyance.
Early in the morning of July 11, the brothers of Company E began to line up, and then they came to the front of a huge landing ship, and then began to board the ship along the ramp.
"That's a huge guy!" White sighed.
Paikanti nodded, "This big guy will take us to England." I couldn't wait to go to London, and it was good news to hear from the Lutz guy that the girls there were very welcoming, and that he had been there before. β
"I hope we are the heroes of the English now, and maybe there will be a ceremony to enter the city, think of the flowers that fly to us, and the kisses of the girls, God, I think this is how dreams come true!" White said as he stepped up the ramp and walked over to the warship.
The brothers of Company E entered the warship, but staying in the warship was not as comfortable as they thought, and the few officers were able to get preferential treatment, and the other GIs had to stay together. It's noisy and shouting, and it's breathtaking.
"Hey, brother, how are you?" Malachi walked over to a naval sergeant on duty on the ramp, "It's hard? β
"Not as good as you! It's good to hear that you beat the Germans to in Carrington, brother. The sergeant said enviously, "You know, this kind of thing can't be mixed with the navy, and I probably won't be able to find a suitable souvenir here until the war is over." β
"Well, what's your name? Where did it come from? "Malaki continued to be almost.
"Bane? Rick! The sergeant nodded and smiled, "From Philadelphia." β
"Oh God, Philadelphia? Philadelphia is a great place to be! I once passed by there on a train! It's just beautiful. Maraki was very exaggerated, "I really didn't expect you to come from there." β
"yes, I think it's a good place too!" Sergeant Rick nodded, "However, I still feel a little regretful, after all, I haven't done anything here, the war is almost over, God, what should I tell them when I go home?" β
"For the sake of me passing through Philadelphia, what souvenirs do you want? Dude, I have a lot of them here. As he spoke, Malachi took out a watch from the satchel he was carrying, "The Germans used to wear it, but they didn't wear it as accurately as I did." β
He took out another dagger from his bag and said to Sergeant Rick: "The paratrooper knife of the German Sixth Parachute Regiment, look at the 'swastika' symbol on it, this is not something that ordinary German soldiers can have." As he spoke, he pulled out a bottle of wine from his pocket, "Authentic French wine, collected during the Battle of the Brecourt Manor." β
Sergeant Rick looked at him dumbfounded, then swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Brother, you are really amazing, you have such a good opportunity." His eyes scanned over the things, and he said with a smile on his face, "Hey, man, how about I make a deal with you?" I'll pay for your stuff, make a price! For the sake of your hometown! β
"Buy these things?" Maraki looked at him in surprise, then smiled, "Why did you come up with such an idea?" β
"You don't want to?" Sergeant Rick was a little embarrassed and muttered, "You know, I just wanted to take these things back and show them to the people back home, after all, I've fought in the Great War." β
"No, no, you're mistaken." Malaki shook his head and said, "Dude, I don't want to sell these things to you, although they seem to be more precious, but it is not difficult for us airborne troops to obtain these things." For the sake of me passing through your hometown, I will give you all these things! As he spoke, he put the things in his hand into Sergeant Rick's arms.
Rick was obviously surprised, he took it at a loss, and then smiled: "Thank you, thank you so much, you are so generous, tell me, man, can I do something for you?" β
"Actually, I don't have anything to ask you for help with!" Malaki shook his head.
"No, no, I have to do something for you, or I'm a little upset!" Sergeant Rick said busily.
Malachi looked at him, then nodded, "In that case, then you can do me a small favor." Well, I have a friend who has a motorbike that he wants to take back to the UK and wants to get on the boat from here. β
"No problem!" Rick patted his chest and said, "It's just a minor issue. Well, dude, where are your friends? β
Malaki nodded and said, "Just wait here!" As he spoke, he whistled at a sand dune not far away, and then saw Moore emerge from the sand dunes on his motorcycle. Malachi gestured to him forward.
Moore cheered, then increased his throttle, sprinted down the dune, and whistled across the ramp into the warship's cabin.
"Thank you, man!" Malaki smiled at Sergeant Rick, "I have to take my leave!" β
Maraki excitedly returned to the warship, and this thing was done, which made him extremely excited. And the yearning for a better life in the UK also makes everyone look forward to it.
