Section 537 Procedure for Archery

Etiquette, Civilization, Customs, Morality, Humanities, Sports...... The connotation of Chinese archery is very rich, and this unique etiquette and customs and humanistic sports room are precious historical and cultural heritage. At the same time, the salute has a shaping value for the national concept and temperament. Etiquette, music, archery, royalty, calligraphy, and mathematics are the basic knowledge and skills that Confucianism requires Confucian students to learn. Shooting is one of them. In ancient times, men had to learn archery, learn to bow and learn to ride a carriage, so at that time, people generally had a healthy spirit of bravery, rather than the blind weakness of later generations. Whether to learn or not to learn these things has a great impact on the national temperament and character. In the era of cold weapons, learning archery directly contributes to the shaping of the concept of national defense and to the formation of the people's open, brave, and atmospheric temperament and character.

The procedure for the salute is as follows:

(1) Preparation: Do all kinds of preparations for the ceremony. Set up the venue and organize the participants and spectators. Move bows, arrows, baskets and other utensils to the west hall and set them up. The shooters, the shooters, and the shooters stood in line facing south under the west hall. The host greeted the guests outside the venue.

(2) Welcome: When the guest arrives, the host greets each other, and they enter the hall and stand up.

(3) Opening ceremony: The division shoots the bow and arrows from the west of the hall, reports to the guests, the bow and arrow are ready, and the division asks for the archery to start. The guest resigned and promised. Si Archery stepped on the steps and stood on the northeast side to tell the host that Bin had promised to shoot arrows. In the process of archery, the shooter needs to carry a bow and arrow. If bows and arrows are scarce, don't force them.

(4) Coupling: The shooter puts six shooters, and the people with similar archery skills are matched into a group, a total of three groups, which are called upper coupling, secondary coupling, and lower coupling, which is the so-called three couplings, and each coupling has one upper and lower shooting.

(5) Archer: It is the shooter who orders the archer to take the bow and arrow. The division shoots down the stairs, facing the west-killing shooter, and the two people on the upper couple each take a bow and four arrows.

(6) Leaning: It is the shooter who orders the singer to use the flag to indicate the position of the bull's-eye for the shooter. The shooter ordered the singer to lean the flag against the center of Hou to indicate the location of the center of the target for the whole audience. The division of the shooting command three couples to shoot arrows in turn. The upper couple took off the sleeve of his coat in his left hand, put a wrench on the thumb of his right hand to hook the bowstring, put a guard on his right arm, hold the bow in his left hand, and put an arrow between the fingers of his right hand, and the other three in his belt.

(7) Decoy shooting: that is, the division shoots for the crowd shooters to demonstrate. There is a detailed ritual process: from the west of the hall to the prostration, and then to enter. When you get to the bottom of the stairs, you bow to the north. Step up the stairs and make a move. Go to the hall and make a move. Step your left foot on the shooting symbol, face west, then turn your head to the south, look at the middle of the target, indicate that you are intent on archery, then lean over to inspect your feet, adjust your footwork, and finally shoot with your bow until you have shot all four arrows. After the shooter had finished shooting, the singer came out from behind the arrow, retrieved the arrow, inserted it into the arrow stand in the west of the temple, and returned to its original position.

(8) Ichiban: the first round of shooting. The first shot is a practice shot, so whether you hit it or not, it doesn't count as a result. The two shooters on the upper couple shot in the upper hall, stood at the shooting position according to the requirements of the shooter, stared at the bull's-eye, and waited for the shooter's order. Si Jie ordered in the hall: Do not shoot and injure the target, and do not frighten the target. After shooting an arrow, he draws an arrow from his waist and puts it on the string, and then shoots it from below. In this way, the way of each of the four arrows was shot. The target announcer raised his voice to report the results of the shot to the church. Then, the upper coupling went down to the hall, and the second coupling went up to the hall, and the two sides staggered in front of the west steps, and greeted each other. The ritual of the secondary coupling is the same as that of the upper coupling. Finally, the secondary coupling is in the lower hall, and the lower coupling is in the upper hall. At this point, the division went to the hall to salute the guest, and told the guest that the three couples had been shot, and the guest returned the salute.

(9) Second shot: Second round shot. The second round of archery is an official competition, and the winner is determined according to the results of archery. In addition to the three couples, there are also hosts and guests. The host and the guest cooperate as a couple, and the host acts as a downward shot to show humility.

First of all, it is played by three couples. The division shot ordered the upper coupling to start firing. The two shooters saluted each other and went to the court, and the target reporter quickly left the target position. The division announced that anyone who did not shoot through the target would not be counted as a result! The two archers take turns firing their bows and arrows as they did in the first shot. If you hit the target, the person in charge of calculating the score will draw a basket chip and throw it on the ground. The top shot is thrown to the right, and the bottom shot is left to the left. In this way, all three couples were shot.

This is followed by a coupling between the guest and the host. The procedure for specific shots, as well as the method of calculating the number of hits, are the same as before. After shooting, Ariji picked up the remaining basket chips and reported to the guests: the left and right shots have been shot. Then, according to the method of calculating the grades, the company began to count the final grades and report them to Bin.

Finally, there is the punishment of wine and the offering of wine. The shooter commands the three couples and the host and guest couples: the winning shooter takes off his left sleeve, puts on his wrench, puts on his arm guard, and holds the bow with the string tightened. The loser puts on his left sleeve, takes off his wrench and arm guard, and releases the bowstring. The shooters go up to the court one after the other, and the loser shooter stands and drinks the penalty wine, and then bows to the winning shooter. The master shot wine and offered wine to the target announcer, and went to the left, center, and right places in front of the target to offer sacrifices. The priest drank wine and offered wine to the secretary who released the plan to the hall. This is the end of the second shot.
