Chapter 332: The Origin of History (1)
Just as Han Yunhua's headquarters was in full swing preparing for another large-scale battle in the Saibei area, suddenly the Party Central Committee sent an urgent telegram from Yan'an to all units of the Eighth Route Army - Wuhan had fallen.
During this time, because Han Yunhua was busy with the development of Shandong, and the electronic reconnaissance unit of the Shandong army was also quite powerful, the high-power radio station of Han Yunhua's department was generally in a silent state for a while, and it would only be turned on at a specific time, so Han Yunhua had a lot less contact with the outside world during this time.
However, Han Yunhua was also very clear about the news that the national political axe was fighting with the army again on the outskirts of Wuhan, after all, the reason why the instructor was able to achieve such results in such a short period of time during this period of time was also the light of the second Wuhan battle. Although the flames of the Battle of Wuhan did not spread to Shandong, a large part of the supplies of the puppet army in Anhui and Henan were transported to the front line from all over Shandong. In order not to cause any trouble, the North China Front ordered all units stationed in China to strictly prohibit the fight with the Chinese [***] team before the end of the Second Battle of Wuhan, and in particular, it was best not to have a large-scale frontal clash with Han Yunhua's department.
Judging from the battle report sent by the Party Central Committee, this battle was a large-scale campaign launched by the army in order to force the national political axe to surrender as soon as possible, and at the same time, to achieve shame. Due to the reason of the first Wuhan battle, the national political axe also called this general battle the second Wuhan battle or the second Wuhan defense battle, of course, it is called the second Wuhan strategy battle or Wuhan victory. The scale of the Second Battle of Wuhan far exceeded that of the First Battle of Wuhan, with more than 1.5 million regular troops, miscellaneous troops, and local security regiments of the National Revolutionary Army defending Wuhan under the leadership of Chiang Kai-shek, and the army in this battle dispatched an unprecedented 460,000 troops under the command of Shunroku Hata of the Central China Front. The scope of this battle has also been expanded, and this battle is not only limited to Wuhan and some surrounding counties and cities, but has been extended to Henan, Anhui, Jiangxi, and other provinces and cities; if we add the battles of the Eighth Route Army in Shanxi and Hebei and the Inner Mongolia Military Region in the Saibei region, this general battle can be said to be a life-and-death decisive battle that covers most of China; in a period of three and a half months, the Yue Army dispatched a total of 430,000 elite land forces, 20,000 elite navies, and less than 10,000 air forces. All arms of the armed forces, including the Navy Special Operations Team and the Army Special Forces, were dispatched, and even the paratroopers, who had always been mysterious, shone this time and made great achievements in the capture of Wuhan.
However, all this is nonsense in Han Yunhua's opinion, and after reading the whole article, Han Yunhua sadly found that history seemed to have returned to the original point, and Wuhan had finally fallen. Although due to the efforts of him and his troops, the number of battles of Wuhan has become two, and the fall of Wuhan has been delayed by nearly ten months, but what is the point of all this? Wuhan still did not escape the doom of the occupation, and the capital of the Chinese national government was once again forced to move to Chongqing. That is to say, from 1937 when his soul was passed on to this era, more than two years of life and death tests, how many times he watched the soldiers he brought out fall in front of him, and how many times he sent batches of mighty soldiers to the front line, but the result was like this, Han Yunhua couldn't figure it out, let alone dare to think about it.
After all, history has not changed, but the original time has been pushed back by about a year, that is to say, if there are no major changes, China's war of resistance will be about a year longer than in history, and the efforts of more than two years will not only not be exchanged for the happiness and well-being of the Chinese people, but will be longer suffering and disaster. Whether he is changing the fate of the Chinese or pushing China into an unpredictable future, Han Yunhua himself dare not think.
However, what Han Yunhua himself did not know was that the Battle of Wuhan caused Wuhan to fall late for about a year due to his appearance, but because of the great cohesion and strong combat effectiveness shown by the Inner Mongolia Military Region during the First Battle of Wuhan, the enthusiasm of the Chinese people to resist greatly encouraged it. The most important thing is that the Kuomintang also saw some deficiencies in the army, and even learned a lot of practical tactics from Han Yunhua's department, which improved the morale and combat effectiveness of the army to a certain extent.
At the time of the Second Battle of Wuhan, although the Chinese [***] team was still commanded by those third-rate generals and unpopular commanders, it caused huge losses to the army. Due to the strong resistance of the [***] team, the maximum force that could be assembled at that time was mobilized, and the number of personnel directly used for the attack reached 460,000, and the personnel were replenished 14 times during the battle, and the total number of troops invested by the army at the end of the battle should be about 700,000. At the same time, the army also gave full play to its absolute superiority in land, sea, and air equipment, and fought hard for three and a half months.
In these three and a half months of fighting, although the army barely captured Wuhan, but did not annihilate the main force of the [***] team, like the most elite units of the Chinese National Defense Force, although the heavy losses, but the vitality did not suffer much major damage, so that instead of the will to resist the war and combat effectiveness of the [***] team, on the contrary, the effective force of the army was seriously hit, and at the same time, it also greatly inspired the people of insight in the army. The atmosphere of revenge took root in the hearts of every Chinese soldier.
The most important thing is that the tactics adopted by the Warring States Civil Axe to annihilate the enemy's living forces at the Second Wuhan Conference caused great trauma to the army. According to the statistics released by the Chinese army, in such a short three-and-a-half-month battle, the 11th Army of the Central China Front suffered 41,446 casualties, the 1st Army suffered 18,600 casualties, and the total number of casualties of the navy and army and naval aviation was about 78,500. Of course, this is only a figure unilaterally released by the Chinese army, and it does not prove the specific actual number of people lost by the Japanese army in that war. According to the detailed battle reports of the troops, the number of casualties of the army was 296,000, of which the absolute loss (battle death) was 64,400. Obviously, the figures published in this edition are low, while the figures published by the Military Command Department are on the high side.
However, in any case, just like the Battle of Wuhan in history, the vast number of Chinese officers and men were generally brave and tenacious, and while they suffered heavy losses, they also inflicted a large number of casualties on the Japanese army and dealt a major blow to the morale of the Chinese army. However, due to the improper operational guidance of the top decision-makers and some high-ranking generals, they consumed too much of themselves while consuming the enemy. The defective strategic and tactical layout was the main reason for the failure of the Second Battle of Wuhan, and during the First Battle of Wuhan, Han Yunhua's troops fell out and defeated the 11th Army in a very short period of time. The rapid defeat of the 11th Army directly caused some of the supporting plans prepared by the base camp of the Yue Army to lose their significance for implementation, so they were temporarily shelved, but they were successfully implemented during the Second Battle of Wuhan, and caused huge losses to the Kuomintang headquarters. In particular, the fall of Guangzhou was even worse, after the fall of Qingdao, Shanghai and other places, Guangzhou became the most important port in China, but compared with its important surname, the defense was very lax, the Guangdong army was actually half of the troops to participate in the Battle of Wuhan, Chiang Kai-shek thought that the army had done its best in the Battle of Wuhan, and it was impossible to draw troops to attack in other directionsThe stubborn resistance made the progress of the battle slow, and the base camp of the army could not wait, so it quickly transferred three divisions to form the 21st Army, led by General Guzhuang Ganlang, and with the support of the commander of the 5th Fleet of the Navy, Koichi Shiozawa, a surprise attack on Guangzhou. Guangdong heard a little rumor, and Guangdong Governor Wu Tiecheng also made a report to Yucheng, but Chiang Kai-shek actually thought that this was a "fake" information deliberately created by himself, trying to get [***] to draw troops from the Wuhan battlefield to support Guangdong. If you don't increase the number of troops, forget it, and then, Lao Jiang even sent a report asking Yu Hanmou to transfer another division to the Wuhan battlefield.
At ten o'clock in the evening of June 25, 1939, more than 70,000 troops and 27,000 horses successfully landed in Daya Bay, Guangzhou. Yu Hanmou's 12th Group Army was defeated and collapsed by the Yue Army in just 10 days. In desperation, Yu Hanmou ordered the defenders of Guangzhou to retreat, and Guangzhou fell on the afternoon of the 29th. Faced with this situation, Chiang Kai-shek learned the lessons of last year's defense of Nanjing, did not want to be a lonely city, and decided to quickly abandon Wuhan. On July 2, the army occupied Hankou, Wuchang, and Hanyang, and the defense of Wuhan came to an end.
After the Second Battle of Wuhan, the Yue Army, which already felt that its troops were insufficient, was killed and injured by the Central [***] team, and with the extension of the battle line, the strength of the Yue Army became more and more insufficient, and it was unable to organize such a large-scale strategic offensive as the battles of Songhu, Xuzhou, and Wuhan, and was forced to turn to strategic conservatism. In this way, although China has now strategically lost the central city of Wuhan, in fact China is tantamount to adding another major burden to the already stretched defense system. As long as the vitality of the Chinese [***] team recovers, it will not be as difficult as in history to recover Wuhan. Moreover, there are still hundreds of thousands of squadrons on the outskirts of Wuhan, which has caused a huge pressure on the army, and a large number of troops cannot be withdrawn, and the frontal support for the battles in the major battlefields across the country makes the anti-Japanese situation not as bad as Han Yunhua imagined.
