The Hindu Kush Mountains are known as the "backbone of the Islamic Republic of Mountain People".

It stretches from the Pamirs in the east, through the Halal country, into the territory of the Shan Islamic Republic, and to the junction of Persia and the Shan Islamic Republic in the west, gradually turning into a low mountain range. The average altitude of the whole mountain range is 4000~5000 meters, the total length of the mountain range is about 966 kilometers, and the width is about 50~350 kilometers.

The highest peaks are slightly lower than the eastern peaks, including the 6,843-metre-high Bandakor Peak, the 6,248-metre-high Mundi Peak, and the 6,059-metre-high Millsamir Peak.

To the east of the "Summit Plains", the mountains rise steeply and ruggedly, and within a range of about 161 kilometers, the highest peaks in the entire region - about 24 peaks over 7,010 meters above sea level are concentrated.

The "peak plain" in the middle of the Hindu Kush mountain range is commonly known as the forbidden area for human life.

The snow line is about 4,000 meters, above the snow line, covered with heavy snow all year round, commonly known as 10,000 years of snow, Osaka, and ice field. In winter, the climate in the mountains is complex, which is not conducive to helicopter activity. As long as they hide on the top of the snow-capped mountains, the 154th Independent Special Forces Detachment and the 334th Independent Special Forces Detachment will find the "Plateau Wolf Resistance Organization" on this vast mountain, which is tantamount to finding a needle.

The valley of the Kunar River, where they temporarily hid, was the most dangerous place. Here was in the field of view of the outpost on the hill in the distance, and they did not dare to act openly during the day. At the same time, Asadabad is also a heavy cantonment area, where the independent 334th Special Forces Detachment of Spetsnaz (known as the 5th Independent Motorized Infantry Battalion for external concealment) is stationed.

The 334th Independent Special Forces Detachment is the most elite unit of the highest level in GRUU, and it was secretly formed on the basis of the 5th Special Forces Brigade of the Belarusian Military District and at the same time absorbing the elite generals of the 2nd, 9th, 14th, and 22nd Independent Special Forces Brigades. It stealthily entered Asadabad with a total force of more than 600 troops. Six Mi-24s and two Mi-8s attached to the 335th Independent Helicopter Regiment.

The GRU had placed such an unknown iron fist in this small ravine town in order to strike hard at the resistance groups on the other side of the Kunar River. Then simply turn around and go north and plunge into the depths of the snowy mountains.

This is the middle section of the Hindu Kush mountain range, with an average altitude of 4,000-5,000 meters, and there are six or seven peaks of more than 6,000 meters, and the peaks are covered with snow all year round. Due to the influence of the summer monsoon, the annual precipitation reaches 1000 mm, which belongs to the semi-humid subtropical climate. Winter snowstorms are raging, and the snow in the mountain depressions is very thick, and the snow cover is as long as 6-9 months.

Every summer, herders herd their herds to the alpine meadows to graze. In autumn, before the snow closes the mountain, the herd is driven to the bottom of the mountain pass for wintering. The altitude of 2500-3000 meters above sea level is inaccessible in winter and cannot survive. Due to natural constraints, the polar bear army did not set up outposts on the snowy peaks of the plateau in winter.

Therefore, when you enter the mountains, you also enter a relatively safe area.

The north bank of the Kunar River is full of lofty mountains, and the difficult climbing journey begins.

They braved the howling cold wind and stepped on the thick snow, and climbed down the slopes of the mountain little by little. At the time of departure from the Khyber Pass Gorge, the snow in the canyon was only a few centimetres deep on average, and the snow was completely closed on this mountain. Due to the strong winds on the mountains, continuous snowfall has formed endless snowfields, snowy ridges, and countless seasonal temporary glaciers.

The higher you climb, the harder it is to move an inch. If you're not careful, you'll slide down the glacier and shatter your bones.

At about 3,000 meters, it is a dense coniferous forest of various types of pine, cypress, and fir, and shrubs such as hawthorn, rhododendron, and honeysuckle are underneath.

Despite the dense vegetation, it is now a night march and it is impossible to capture prey. Shisarma's team had run out of ammunition and food, and Yu Songyuan and Liu Guodong only carried individual rations, and the entire team had run out of food since they crossed the Kunar River into the mountains. The members of the "Plateau Wolf Resistance" are cold, tired and hungry, and many of them have reached the limit of their lives.
