Chapter 11 Forcibly rescuing the International Division of the Young Communist Party

Niu Dali was a little strange, how could the commander-in-chief judge that the troops of the Young Communist Division were fighting with the Hunan army nearby? However, he was too familiar with the commander-in-chief's wonderful thinking, and he was used to it, and he didn't think much about it, but he just exchanged opinions with Bai Kaishan a little, and immediately organized the army and sneaked. After only a while, the reconnaissance company replied: Sure enough, the International Division of the Young Communist Party was fighting with the Hunan army in front!

This time, it was Niu Dali's turn to look at the mountain during the day! Good guy, Commander Li will be successful in one guess! What does it mean to know the world from a distance? What is strategizing? That's it! How can you not win a war with such a chief?

It's just that what kind of unit is the International Division of the Young Communist Party? The two leaders of the Red 5th Division glanced at each other, and they both saw the doubts in each other's eyes. The last one shook his head. Fortunately, the commander-in-chief did not ask them to know what the International Division of the Young Communist Party was, and the order given to them at the moment was only to rescue the rest of this division. Well, it seems that the commander-in-chief's last words were "he will be on the battlefield within 20 minutes", so let's hurry up and give the battle order, and we must rescue this unit before the commander-in-chief arrives. After discussion, Bai Kaishan led the Red 13th Regiment to detour from the left side, the chief of staff led the Red 14th Regiment to attack from the right, and Niu Dali led the Red 15th Regiment and the troops directly under the division to attack from the front.

I don't blame Niu Dali, Bai Kaishan and a few other people who are not familiar with the International Division of the Young Communist Party. At that time, the official name of the International Division of the Young Communist Party at this time was the Red 15th Division!

This is a very special force. Almost all of this unit is composed of people of the same age: the average age of the whole division is 18 years old, the previous division commanders are all in their 20s, and Xiao Hua, the political commissar of the division, was only 17 years old when he took office, which is extremely rare in the world's military history. This unit was established on August 5, 1933 in Bosheng County, Jiangxi Province (now Ningdu County), and was personally awarded the flag by Zhou Enlai. The flag awarded is the "International Division of the Young Communist Party", officially known as the 15th Division of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, which is the establishment of the Red Fifth Army Corps. The division has a total of more than 10,000 people, 70 percent of whom are party members, and has three regiments under its jurisdiction, the 43rd, 44th, and 45th regiments, which are under the direct command of the headquarters of the Red First Army. In the spring of 1934, the International Division of the Young Communist Party was reinstated to its official name "15th Division", and Peng Shaohui, who lost his left arm in the fourth anti-"encirclement and suppression" and was later known as the "one-armed general", served as the division commander, but people still habitually called it the "International Division of the Young Communist Party". Niu Dali and Bai Kaishan are still familiar with the number of the Red 15th Division, but because they have not been to the Central Soviet Region, they are not familiar with the title of "International Division of the Young Communist Party". And this number is really useless now, just the verbal name of familiar people.

The official history is that in the Battle of the Xiangjiang River, the Red 15th Division was ordered to resist the pursuit of the enemy's 4 regiments in the area of Yanshouwei in Xiangxi and cover the main force to cross the Xiangjiang River. They attacked Lutangwei in the southeast of Quanzhou with one regiment, cooperated with the main force of the Red Fifth Army to feint to contain the enemy in Quanzhou, and fought hard with two regiments and the enemy chasing after them to defend the first ferry crossing of the Xiangjiang River. The enemy attacked fiercely along the Xianggui Highway, the situation was very urgent, and the Red 15th Division was in danger of being cut off by the enemy, so the whole division quickly shrank its forces and ran across the river. After Peng Shaohui and Xiao Hua led the main force to cross the river, they found that there was still a regiment that had not come, and the enemy had approached the ferry. According to the orders of the regiment headquarters, they were not allowed to turn back to meet the regiment. When they crossed Dawang Mountain and arrived at the oil press to assemble, this regiment magically appeared in front of them. It turned out that after they were cut off by the enemy, they fought a bloody way from the layers of encirclement, bravely crossed the Xiangjiang River, shook off the enemy's tail pursuit, and forcibly marched overnight to catch up with the main force of the division. In the Battle of Xiangjiang, in the face of the indiscriminate bombardment of enemy aircraft and heavy artillery, the Red 15th Division desperately realized its strategic intention, but the officers and soldiers suffered heavy casualties, and only more than 2,700 people remained.

Li Jiansheng is very familiar with this history, and often sighs for the perseverance of these red imps. Therefore, now listening to Niu Dali's report, he searched his memory a little, but he really couldn't remember how the Red Army troops would fight with the enemy at this time and in this place, and then thought about it, only this regiment of the "International Division of the Young Communist Party" had not yet had time to cross the river. Therefore, almost without thinking, Li Jiansheng immediately gave the order to fight.

On a small elevation near the Fenghuangzui ferry, more than 1,000 soldiers of the International Division of the Young Communist Party were blocking the enemy. It was the regiment that did not have time to cross the river. In fact, part of this regiment still crossed the river, not a whole regiment that did not cross the river. More than half of this regiment remained in the east of the Xiangjiang River, with a total of more than 1,800 people. At present, these more than 1,800 people are sticking to the edge of the Xiangjiang River.

The high ground temporarily occupied by more than 1,800 red imps is not high, it is just a small dirt bag, which is very unfavorable for defense. The soldiers of the International Division of the Young Communist Party had already arrived at the ferry, the main force of the division had already crossed the Xiang River, and when it was the turn of their rearguard troops to cross the pontoon bridge, the rout of the Red 8th Army Corps rushed in and pushed them aside. At this time, the enemy's planes blew up the pontoon bridge, and they were left on the east bank of the Xiang River. Finding that the Hunan army's pursuing troops had arrived, the soldiers, under the leadership of the deputy regiment commander Xu Kaiji, quickly occupied this small hill, and before they had time to build a position, the Hunan army began to attack.

Although they have repelled two large-scale attacks by the Hunan army in a row, the casualties of this group of red imps of the International Division of the Young Communist Party are also very large. Xu Kaiji, the deputy regiment commander who organized the group to block the Hunan army's attack at the beginning, and a considerable number of battalion and company-level cadres all died, and the more than 1,800 soldiers who participated in the battle at the beginning also fell a lot, and now only more than 1,500 people are still exempt from strong fighting, and at least half of these more than 1,500 people are wounded. However, although these red imps are not very old, they are all veterans of a hundred battles. They all know that if everyone wants to withdraw now, they can't retreat, because there is no way to retreat, and behind them is the surging Xiangjiang River. There is only one way, and that is to kill more enemies, anyway, my group is a dead end, kill one more, and when I go down to see the old man Marx, I can afford to talk. It's just that what makes everyone have a headache is that they don't have many guns and bullets. It is estimated that if the Hunan army on the opposite side charges again, at least eighty percent of the guns in everyone's hands will shoot out the last two bullets, and then become a veritable "burning stick". This burning stick has little effect in this rain of bullets, and can only be used in the final hand-to-hand combat. However, the Hunan army on the opposite side is obviously also the majority of old mouths, and they obviously already know that this group of red imps is the last of the strong, and there are not enough guns and ammunition, so it is unlikely to give these red imps a chance to fight in close quarters and send them to death in vain!

Sure enough, just after the short rest when the red imps came to get a break in the battle, the Hunan army's heavy machine guns began to fire again, and the bullets were like the wind, so that the red imps couldn't raise their heads. The last battalion commander who was alive but wounded temporarily acted as the operational commander, and shouted to several other younger red imps around him: "Pass down, the enemy is not allowed to shoot less than 50 meters, save bullets, aim and hit." "The order was passed down one by one warrior.

The enemy came up, and the black pressed one, and it seemed that it was another battalion. This is already the third battalion-level charge of these Hunan troops.
