Although everyone is afraid of death, sometimes human beings are more afraid of dying unworthy and worthless. Sima Qian also said that people are inherently dead, either heavier than Mount Tai or lighter than a feather. Everyone wants their life to be more important than Mount Tai, this is the idea that every literati has. But in fact, the vast majority of human deaths are lighter than a feather. And sometimes, a word from those in power can also take the lives of these literati. But those literati did not dare to resist at all, they themselves were a weakling, and those distorted Confucianism made them a weakling. At that time, Confucianism still paid attention to being able to ride and shoot, but the current literati generation is not as good as the generation, and the blood in the heart has long since faded.

And even if they were faced with being killed, they did not dare to resist. They even consoled themselves, saying that the king wanted his ministers to die and that the ministers were not dead and disloyal. They want to "beautify" themselves, beautify their "cowardice", and then cover up the fact of their cowardice with so-called "loyalty". They would rather commit suicide themselves than choose to resist, and then even hope to glorify their cowardice with this so-called "loyalty". Even why did many ancient feudal kings praise those who committed suicide, but ignored those who had the courage to work hard, intentionally or unintentionally? In fact, because kings need all cowardly people, they need people who would rather dare to commit suicide, but are not willing to fight hard, such people are conducive to their rule.

Although every literati is cowardly, they care very much about the value of their lives. Because the value of life does not come from oneself, but from the opinions of others. When others think your life is valuable, that's what is valuable. If others think that your life is worthless, then you are worthless. That's why they use this method to change the values of others, making people think that in the face of killing, they would rather choose cowardly suicide than choose to die of desperate resistance.

"See, your life is just a food and a toy in their eyes. In the eyes of those Hu people, your value is not high, just a piece of food, and they can even take you to judge whose meat is better. Therefore, if you are cowardly at this time and do not resist, then you will only have one result. ”

"If I had not gone to war, and the Hu men had killed us with their sabers, they would have pointed at our bones and said, 'Look, these are two-legged sheep!' ”

Hearing Shi Bufan's adaptation of a poem from the later anti-Japanese period, even those who were literati were completely angry. At that time, the common people lived under the oppression of the Hu people, and we Han people became slaves of the Hu people. In that chaotic world, we Han people only have two results, one is the period when we are slaves, and the other is the period when we want to be slaves but can't get them. At that time, we Han people will not be the masters of this world, but slaves, or want to be slaves but can't get it. ”
