Chapter 232: The Moment of Life and Death
Covered in blood, Kroll ran out of the dead woods beside the road with two swords in his hand.
He didn't have time to cover up Youngor's body.
His heart was full of regret.
His face was streaked with tears, his steps staggered, and he almost crawled. Long streaks of blood appeared on the arm that had been scratched by the spiked grass.
"Run! Run! The survivors of Lakeside Village ran past Kroll and fled to the path between the Desco Terrace and the Guardian Terrace.
Bursts of wolf howls came from behind the fleeing group. Kroll's eyes were hazy with tears, but he was still conscious. He knew that now, not only was his friend Youngor dead, but even the knight Seth and his warriors, who had come to help the Lakeside Village evacuate from the Diffender Fortress, were all killed in the pursuit of the monsters.
"It's just a mile away." A dejected Kroll struggled to move his legs and looked at the Diefonde twill flag looming on the Desco Terrace.
"Kill, kill!" From time to time, the farmers of the lakeside village looked at the pursuers behind them, the goblin cavalry on the wolf with a hideous face, and as they pursued, they took out their hunting bows and continued to shoot at the escapees in front of them.
Rusty arrows fell from the sky around Kroll, and even more rusty arrow arrows grazed Kroll's ears, and he saw two or three village names being shot to the ground by rusty arrows, and the unbearable pain made them toss and turn on the road in pain, struggling to get up.
"Hold on, hold on! It's close! Ah, shit! The sudden increase in the terrain made it more and more difficult for Kroll to move his feet, and two steep mountain walls had appeared beside the winding road, and the escape path was being surrounded by the Desco Terrace and the Guardian Terrace.
The Desco Terrace and the Guardian Terrace are covered with dark green needles and numerous conspicuous Difender flags, and the cliffs above the steep walls are stacked with piles of gravel and the occasional boulder covered with a web. In the quiet bushes of the mesa, there seemed to be a large number of Diefonde warriors, who were not well hidden, so that Kroll could see dark shadows in the bushes on the escape passage between the mesa, a faint horse or two from the Desco mesa and the guardian mesa, and puffs of dust on the taiga roof.
"Help!" The fleeing Lakeside Village leaders opened their voices and shouted, the Difender flags erected on the Nadesco Terrace and the Guardian Terrace were undoubtedly not a symbol of hope for them, and they raised their heads one by one to look at the flags, and waved their hands wildly in the run.
"Woohoo! Whew! The wolf's howl made Kroll stand upside down.
"Woohoo! Whew! The howl of the wolf that was getting closer and closer made Kroll's back tingle.
The Diefend's flags on the terraces on both sides seemed to be shaking slightly. Yet nothing happened.
"Woohoo! Whew! The wolf's cry was on Kroll's back.
Kroll had to grit his teeth and clench the sword he held in both hands. Although he usually has nothing to do with the sword. He had never even had any combat experience, but by the time of Youngor's death, he had seen blood splattered. Fragile lives are no more than that. Whether it's the Trians or these monsters.
"Killing is inevitable." The darkness that shrouded Kroll took away the last hope of escape from his heart, "I will take your head with me to the Temple of Arcana. β
Kroll turned around coldly.
What caught his eye was a goblin alpine wolf cavalry, only to see that the hideous wolf cavalry had already bared his teeth, the black eyes without eyes showed murderous intent, he raised the pitch-black tooth blade as if he was about to cut off, the fierce alpine wolf and its owner were quite similar in appearance.
Kroll closed his eyes, and at the same time suddenly bowed down, he quickly remembered every detail of the movements of the Goblin wolf cavalry, raised his left arm subconsciously raised his sword to block, and the right arm holding the sword swung towards the wolf's leg to slash.
A violent impact almost overturned the sword-wielding Kroll, Kroll just felt that the finger bones holding the sword seemed to be about to be directly shattered by the powerful impact force, and he also heard a crackling sound of bones, and felt a little warm blood splashed by a wolf on his face.
The alpine wolf, whose leg bone had been severed, lost its balance and flipped on the road. The sound of the plopping sound was like the muffled sound of a mountain falling stone hitting the ground. The goblins it was carrying behind were also flipped over, and the goblins babbled for a brief moment as they flew through the air.
The experience of killing the wolf cavalry was enough for Kroll in crisis, but Kroll, who couldn't overcome the visual barrier, could discern the current situation by the sound of the goblins and the wolf.
Kroll opened his eyes suddenly, and quickly swept behind him where he was standing. The goblin, who had lost his wolf, was prostrate on the ground, reaching out his thin, gray withered claws to touch the pitch-black tooth blade that had fallen to the side.
"Come on! You gray-skinned bastard! Kroll stepped into the back of the Goblin Wolf Cavalry in three steps and two steps, raising his sword and aiming at its neck, "You damn it! So! Just give me death! β
Kroll's right arm exerted a force, and he slashed mercilessly, and the head of the Goblin wolf cavalry rolled down the slope of the path.
"Ahh Another scream of women and children came from Kroll's back. A mother and son were slashed one by one by two goblin wolf cavalry who followed up with pitch-black tooth blades, and fell in front of Kroll's eyes one after another. The two wolf cavalry then lunged straight at Kroll.
At the last moment, Kroll froze. He saw the child crying out in pain on the ground, and the mother crawling.
"Why should it be. Will different species kill each other? When Kroll looked again, he was standing in the village by the lake, not with a sword but a fishing rod in his hand, and his height seemed to be back to the old days, just up to the edge of the table. His mother was sitting on a wooden bench at the entrance of the house, sewing winter clothes for him. He remembered that he was arguing with his mother about why wolves eat sheep because he had forgotten to set a trap outside the sheepfold, which caused one of the ewes in the pen to be eaten by a gray wolf.
"It's like you like fishing to grill and eat. Why do you eat fish? Mother turned her head, and there was always deep love in her eyes that looked at him.
"Fish don't make a sound! They are not like wolves and sheep. The last time I saw Uncle Jim hunting the male wolf next door, I saw tears clearly flowing from the corners of the male wolf's eyes. Kroll argued to his mother.
"Well, we'll eat beef, too. Cows also shed tears when they are killed. Only by killing the cow can we get the beef you like to eat, right? Haven't you been pegging your father to buy you something to eat? So I look at you, it's just a random reason to find something wrong because of laziness and playfulness, and you really should be taught a good lesson by your father. Kroll's mother couldn't help but smile.
"I really don't want to hurt the she-wolf." Kroll yelled a little anxiously, "Even my father reprimanded me, and I said the same!" β
"And yet you hurt the sheep in our pen! Isn't it? Kroll's mother shook her head.
"But I don't want to hurt either side!" Kroll frowned, sat down on the cold stool, and threw away the fishing rod in his hand.
"But that's itβfate!" Kroll had never heard his mother say that, and he was shocked.
Only then did he see his mother's loving gaze full of murderous intent in an instant. His eyes turned blood-red unconsciously, and Kroll looked at it again, and he was still standing on the path between the Desco Terrace and the Guardian Terrace. Those eyes were the mother's eyes, but the gray-skinned goblin cavalry with blood-red eyes.
Kroll was too late to block with his sword. The pitch-black tooth blades that swung above his head were like a black whirlwind dancing from a gray arm.
"It's over." Kroll's heart was cold, and he was imagining what the world would be like after birth.
"Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh-!" There was a banging sound on the Desco Mesa and the Guardian Mesa.
The arrow that fell from the sky skipped over Kroll's head and accurately hit the head and chest of the wolf cavalry, who threw down the pitch-black tooth blade in a trembling and rolled over and fell down the galloping wolf.
"Stop the monster!" Suddenly, the Diefonder soldiers who appeared on the edge of the cliffs of the two terraces, armed with Entle iron bows, spread a rain of arrows on the path between the terraces, and the wolf cavalry chasing the fugitives were hit one after another. "Run! Farmer in the lakeside village! General Matt is at the camp at the end of the trail! He's come to your rescue! β
Kroll pulled his legs and ran. He looked at the boulders and piles of rubble above the cliff that were beginning to shake.
"Run! Folks from the lakeside village. As soon as Kroll finished speaking, the boulders on the cliff crashed into the path between the terraces, and the gravel poured down the steep walls.
