Chapter VII: Offensive Attack

Shanghai has a long history, with a history of more than 2,000 years. Shanghai, Chunqiu was the land of Wu State, and during the Warring States Period, it was Chun Chun Shenjun of Chu State and began to build a city. "Shencheng" is the earliest city in Shanghai. Later, the site of Shencheng City changed several times, and the place name has been changed many times. Finally, during the Three Kingdoms period, it was fixed near Sheshan and renamed "Huating", and the Tang Dynasty set up a county, and at the same time, Shanghai Town in the north of Huating County also gradually developed. From the Yuan Dynasty to July 28, the imperial court approved the establishment of Duli County in Shanghai. This RI is designated as the commemoration of the founding of Shanghai, which has a history of more than 700 years. So Shanghai and Huating became the twin cities. In the Ming Dynasty, Songjiang Mansion was established in Huating and Shanghai. The Qing Dynasty set up Susong Taidao (in the middle and late periods, it was also commonly known as Shanghai Road according to its station, which was one of the provincial-level administrative divisions under Jiangsu Province in the Qing Dynasty, and governed Suzhou Prefecture, Songjiang Mansion and Taicang Zhili Prefecture, and the station was Taicang during the Shunzhi period, and the station was Suzhou during the Kangxi period, and the station was Shanghai County under the jurisdiction of Songjiang Prefecture after Yongzheng. During the Shunzhi period in the early Qing Dynasty, the sub-patrol of Susong Bingbei Road was set up to buy vegetables, which governed Suzhou Mansion and Songjiang Prefecture, and belonged to Jiangnan Province, and the Provincial Department was stationed in Taicang Prefecture. In 1663 (the second year of Kangxi), Susong Road was changed to Susong Chang Road, and the Changzhou Mansion was added, and the Provincial Department was moved to Suzhou. In 1667 (the sixth year of Kangxi), after Jiangsu was established as a province, Su Song Changdao was abolished. In 1670 (the ninth year of Kangxi), Susong Changdao was restored. In 1682 (the twenty-first year of Kangxi), Changzhou Mansion was changed to Jiangzhen Road, so Susong Changdao was renamed Susong Road. In 1724 (the second year of Yongzheng), Taicang Prefecture, which originally belonged to Suzhou Prefecture, was promoted to Zhili Prefecture, so Susong Road was renamed Susong Taidao.

In 1730 (Yongzheng eight years), Taicang, Tongzhou 2 Zhili Prefecture established Taidao, so Susong Taidao was changed to Susong Dao, at the request of Yin Jishan, the governor of Jiangsu, Daotai Yamen also moved from Suzhou to Shanghai County under the jurisdiction of Songjiang Prefecture at this time. At that time, the platform was Xu Yongyou.

In 1741 (the sixth year of Qianlong), Taicang Prefecture still belonged to Susong Road, so Susong Road was changed to Susong Taidao. In 1766 (the 31st year of Qianlong), Suzhou Prefecture established Suzhou Grain Storage Road alone, and the jurisdiction of Susong Taidao was reduced to Songjiang Mansion and Taicang Zhili Prefecture, so it was renamed Songtai Road. In 1808 (the thirteenth year of Jiaqing), Susong Grain Storage Road and Songtai Road merged again to form Susong Taidao, and the Daotai Yamen was still located in Shanghai County. )

The whole territory of Shanghai is an alluvial plain, and only some volcanic rocks are located in the southwest. The average altitude is about 4 meters, the terrain is flat, slightly high in the east and low in the west, and the mountains are few and low. The eastern coast is formed by the sediment deposition that the Yangtze River constantly carries into the sea, the area of Chongming, Pudong and other places is still growing, and there are Sheshan and Tianma Mountain in the west, but the height is below 100 meters. The highest point in Shanghai is Dajinshan Island, located in Hangzhou Bay, with an altitude of 103 meters.

The attack on Shanghai was the Beiyang Detachment of the Imperial Royal Fleet, which included two first-class ships (bought with money, system items can be exchanged for merit, and money can also be bought, and I will slowly not explain it in the future, just open the plug-in as the protagonist.) Don't care how much money you buy. Seven second-class ships, thirteen third-class ships, thirty-five fourth-class ships, and fifty fifth-class ships, this fleet is the Beiyang Fleet envisioned by Lin Hong, which will be responsible for the defense of the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, and the Beihai Sea (now the Rihonhai), and the Beihai Detachment escorts the landing fleet composed of nearly 100 transport ships and merchant ships to approach the Shanghai area.

It's already winter, the cold wind is raging on the land, and the sea is not much better, especially in the early morning when the sea breeze makes Wang Shichang, the commander of the Beihai Detachment, can't help but shrink his neck, he has nothing to say except for ordering the navy and army soldiers to pay attention to keeping warm. I just hope to get to Baoshan and Huangpu River soon.

Nearly ten o'clock, the navy arrived smoothly, there were no coastal defense fortress guns or even a wharf, the beach was desolate, because of the sea ban, except for the occasional appearance of smuggling ships (Lin Hong's), the current Shanghai was all weeds and wasteland. Although there was no resistance to the landing, it was known that the unloading would be completed at 3 p.m. due to road transport restrictions. The transport fleet began to return, and the more than 20,000 landed divisions of the Empire's Northern Expedition began to set off in full gear.

At about 4 o'clock, the whole army (mainly artillery) arrived outside Shanghai with difficulty, and at 4 o'clock, the commander of the 1st Division, Major General Li Qi, ordered an artillery bombardment.

At four o'clock and three o'clock, Xu Luan, the Shanghai Taoist platform, led his family and cronies to flee from the West Gate.

At around 5:30, the First Division basically controlled the city of Shanghai, and Liu Jiuling, the first mayor of Shanghai, took the oath of office.

In the months that followed, the 1st Division attacked from all directions.

The battle was unexpectedly easy, and by the end of November, the 1st Division had attacked the Jiangyin-Wuxi line in the north and established a defensive line. In the south, it has hit the area of Haining.

Because of the lack of troops, the 1st Division had stopped the offensive and entered the defensive position only to wait for the next year's reserve to continue the offensive.

At the same time, the transformation and construction of the Shanghai area is also in full swing, with re-urban planning, land reform, the establishment of a new inspection system, a new administrative system, and a new judicial system. In addition, capitalists began to invest in various industries in Shanghai. Of course, these capitalists were bought by Lin Hong, and there was no way for Lin Hong to stimulate the development of capitalism in this way.

To tell the truth, the investment of the systematic capitalists drove the merchants of Shanghai, coupled with the support of zhèngfu and the perfect law, the geographical location of Shanghai was very good, and Shanghai soon became the economic center of the empire and the pearl of the Orient. In addition, like Taiwan, there are many ordinary residents in the Shanghai area, who publicize and explain the economic and administrative policies of the empire around them, and explain clearly that the common people seem to understand whether they understand or not continue to live, but in their opinion, at least now they have land, and their children can actually go to school, and the huge contrast in life makes them full of gratitude to this new country and the emperor Lin Hong, which is why many ordinary people almost bow to the portrait of the emperor on the coin after receiving the new coin.

The South China Sea Fleet and the Second Division, which attacked Guangzhou on the other hand, encountered stubborn resistance, first encountered the blockage of the Guangzhou Navy Division in Guangzhou Bay, although in the end the Imperial South Sea Fleet completely defeated the opponent, but he was somewhat damaged, in fact, Lin Hong thought about buying more advanced ironclad ships from the system, so Europe was basically abused, but the system prompted that it was beyond the age of science and technology of the times, and it was not available for the time being.

The second division landed in Hong Kong, but when the whole army was unloaded, it was already night, the commander of the second division, Zhou Ju, had to rest in Hong Kong, and the next day he was attacking the city of Guangzhou. That night, Ye Mingchen, the prefect of Guangzhou, fled at night. By the morning of the third, the second division entered Guangzhou.

The Portuguese Adrito stood on a completely different land than what he had seen three months earlier, the city of Canton. Although the city of Guangzhou three months ago was bustling and noisy, Adrito still felt that the city was illusory and sinful.

But now, the pig's tails on the street have decreased a lot. Many people have changed their hair short, and their clothes have changed from long robes and waistcoats to shirts and trousers like those of Europeans. The number of ruffians and hooligans on the streets has decreased significantly, and there are no street officials who patrol the streets to collect money from the hawkers who buy things.

Huge buildings have risen from the ground, including huge modern factories and shops with a wide variety of goods.

"God, what has this new empire done?" Adelito couldn't believe his eyes, so he had to enter an ordinary small restaurant and take a rest. He was not a big businessman, but he came from Macau to find opportunities.

As soon as he sat down, he heard a few young men at the next table, who were not well-dressed, discuss, "Is it really okay, will people want us?" ”

A man who looked like a leader said: "This is what the propaganda commissioner said there, and the words of the propaganda commissioner will naturally not be false, our salt households, who have been oppressed for generations, are still lowly, and now the new dynasty has abolished the lowly status, but the jing salt in this big factory has directly crushed us, the governor of the provincial government department Yin (Guangzhou Governor Yin Jiaju) asked the propaganda committee to pass the word, Governor Yin can't see that our small people can't get by, this can farm, you can go to the state farm to be a tenant farmer, and the rent is set to be a few dollars is a few dollars, The extra food is their own; If you still want to make salt, there are several big salt farms in Guangdong, and we will be sent to teach the craft by signing up and others; If you want to do something else, there are so many opportunities in this Guangdong city, and it is not easy to find a job to do. Besides, we still have three big yuan subsidies issued by zhèngfu in our pockets. ”

The provincial government has crushed a considerable number of small artisans and small farmers as a result of drastic economic transformation measures, but has reached out to the village offices and distributed subsidies to the bankrupts, who can use the subsidies to survive until they find new jobs.

It turns out that this table is actually composed of two groups of people, one from Huizhou and the other from Zhaoqing, all of whom are generations of salt households. The new zhèngfu abolished the monopoly system of salt and iron, and crushed their living environment with better industrial products. But since they were all given money and heard that there are many opportunities in various parts of Guangdong, it is not difficult to make money.

Those who wanted to farm were basically taken away by the people on the state farms, and those who continued to make salt were also left. These few people who came out wanted to see if there were any other businesses that made money.

At the end of the year, the empire successively occupied the Yangtze River Delta region, the Pearl River Delta region, and the coastal areas of Fujian and Zhejiang, and established a bridgehead for attack. Even the troops that arrived in the Pearl River Delta not only continued to occupy Hainan, the southern region of Guangxi and Zhennanguan.
