Chapter 361: Weilong Jet Fighter
At the 3rd International Defense Exhibition, the most eye-catching thing was the 7-ton Weilong jet fighter launched by the Dragon Soul Ordnance Industry Complex. This is based on the M29 sport jet, which not so long ago shocked the world by breaking several world records. Therefore, as soon as the Weilong jet fighter was launched, it was warmly welcomed by various countries.
More than a dozen countries have ordered nearly 500 Veyron jet fighters. The early appearance of the Weilong jet fighter changed the military landscape of the world. That's an afterword. Now, of course, its appearance allowed jet fighters to appear in the world ten years earlier.
The famous Me262 jet fighter of World War II was the chief test pilot of the Me262 fighter on July 18, 1942. Wendel made an epoch-making flight over the Lepheim airfield in Germany, where the Me262, the most successful combat jet fighter of the Great War, was launched.
As early as 1938, the German authorities ordered the Messerschmitt aircraft factory to develop as soon as possible a new fighter compatible with turbojet engines produced by Bavaria or Junkers. In June 1939, the P1065 twin-engine program passed the preliminary examination, in January 1941, the prototype No. 1 machine Me262V1 left the factory, on April 18, the body was temporarily driven by a piston engine, on March 25, 1942, two Bavarian company thrust temporarily of 500 kg of 109-003 jet engines were added and modified, and three hybrid flights were made, and on July 18, two Yumo 109-004A jet engines of the Junkers Company were modified, and finally achieved complete success. On October 1, the second prototype of the Me262 was also put into test flight.
The Me262 became the fourth successful jet in the history of world aviation, after the world's first jet aircraft He178 (first flight on August 27, 1939) and rival He280 (first flight on April 5, 1941), as well as the British "Gloucester" F28/39 jet experimental aircraft (first flight on May 15, 1941), and was introduced eight months before the other practical jet military aircraft of the war, the British "Meteor".
Messerschmitt Me262 - the first jet to be put into combat; An aircraft that has the potential to change the tide of war; an aircraft that inflicted enormous psychological stress and losses on the Allies; An aircraft that marks a giant step forward in human aviation technology...... ME262 - The name itself is legendary: some say it is the angel who brought light to the cause of human aviation; Some say it's the devil with wings, but one thing is certain: it's the point of contention. Me262 has an enduring charm.
And the Weilong jet fighter, both in terms of appearance much earlier than the ME262, and in terms of performance, is also much more advanced than the Me262! Of course, the manufacturer who developed the jet fighter is still the same company. It's just that the current BFW company has become a member of the Dragon Soul Ordnance Complex.
In the history of World War II, the concept of a swept wing was developed earlier than 1935 by the German pneumatic scientist Adolf ? Bussman proposed that in 1940 Willy? Messerschmitt began to work on this concept. In April 1941 he proposed that a pair of 35-degree swept wings be fitted to the Me262. However, the proposal was not adopted, and the two high-speed versions proposed in 1944, the HGII and HGIII, had swept wings of 35 and 45 degrees, respectively. The Me262 in production has a pair of wings that are slightly 18.5 degrees behind the leading edge to maintain the aircraft's center of gravity. The Me262V1 to V4 prototypes were supported by three-point (2 in the front and 1 in the rear) wheels, but it was later found that the horizontal tail was blocked by the main wing and engine during takeoff, and could not pull up the aircraft. So on the 5th prototype, the front three-point wheels (1 in the front and 2 in the rear) were used, and the problem was solved.
Even now, the swept wing of the Weilong fighter is much better than the swept wing of the ME262 at that time. The entire aerodynamic layout of the Weilong fighter is much more advanced than that of the ME262.
The fuselage of the Veyron jet fighter is an all-metal semi-monocoque. The rear fuselage is equipped with a 2100 kg thrust wind and thunder turbojet engine, without afterburner, the wing is a swept medium wing, the leading edge sweep angle is 55 °, and the upper wing surface has a large wing knife. The horizontal and vertical tail sweep angles are 55° and 57° respectively, and the flat tail is oblique axis full motion.
The design of the Weilong fighter is based on the previous Chinese J-6 fighter and the Qiang-5 attack aircraft, and the fuselage design is redesigned. In order to provide good ground observation conditions, the original nose air intake design was changed to two side air intakes. At the same time, cockpit armor was added. Xiao Weiguo also adopted a novel area ratio design. That is, the "bee waist" shape, in addition to the pneumatic, control and other systems have also adopted a lot of improvement measures. The pilot's downward viewing angle reached 16 degrees. It is conducive to ground attack, and at the same time improves the shortcomings of the poor backward vision of the J-5 aircraft, and adopts a new blister-type cockpit.
Since there is only one engine, the thrust is more than half smaller than that of the Qiang-5 and Jian-6 of that year, so the Weilong fighter cannot be supersonic yet, and the maximum level flight speed is 1050 kilometers per hour. The Qiangwu was relocated due to the addition of an internal weapons compartment and the relocation of on-board equipment. The internal fuel tank capacity is reduced, so the combat radius is reduced, and although the large external auxiliary fuel tank can compensate for the reduction in the fuel load inside the aircraft, its base fuel load is still on the low side, at most only 2275 liters.
So the Veyron jet fighter is an air-superior-based. The fighter supplemented by ground attack did not use an internal bomb bay, but was designed with seven external hardpoints. A total of 1500 kg of ammunition and auxiliary fuel tanks can be attached. The maximum range of the external fuel tank can reach 2,300 kilometers, and the range is 1,600 kilometers without the external tank.
The Veyron Jet Fighter is equipped with a 7-barreled 20mm Vulcan cannon, which is mounted under the nose and has a rate of fire of up to 4,000 rounds per minute, making it a formidable weapon of air combat, and can also be used for ground attack, which is very effective against medium and light tanks. The Vulcan cannon of each Weilong fighter has a load of 300 rounds, so its attack power is still considerable.
In terms of ceiling, the Weilong fighter reached 14,000 meters, which is an altitude that no aircraft can reach. Therefore, as soon as the Weilong fighter was launched, it was rated as an epoch-making fighter that can change the mode of air combat! It does have the ability to change the outcome of an air battle, and even the outcome of a war.
Of course, both sides of the Spanish Civil War were aware of this, so they ordered 100 each, again because the Veyron jets were too expensive, selling for $300,000 each, so they didn't buy more. The Dragon Soul Ordnance Consortium is naturally making a lot of money. (To be continued.) )
