More than 1,000 years ago, during the Tang Dynasty, an Arabian bagala-type ocean-going sailing ship Blackstone, loaded with more than 80,000 pieces of goods such as ceramics, silk, spices, tea, gold and silver utensils, gold bars, silver bars and bronze mirrors, set sail from Quanzhou, and unfortunately encountered a strong northeast monsoon on the famous Maritime Silk Road, deviated from the course, and unfortunately sank on a reef in the waters more than 30 nautical miles north of the Belli Ocean in the west of the Sumatra Sea and more than 60 nautical miles west of the Belitung Sea. The wreck was recovered from the water in 1998 by the German Walter Fa and his salvage team after more than a thousand years of hiding.

On February 5, 1896, the waters of Sumatra were calm. The Maria, Thebes, and Lawrence, which had just sailed out of the South China Sea storm belt, docked at a port under the Dominion of Belitung Island in the Dutch East Indies for replenishment. Wang Chenhao decided to stay here for three days, on the one hand, to wait for another transport ship, the Hebrew, to come to rendezvous, and on the other hand, he was going to salvage the ancient Tang Dynasty shipwreck Heishi on the seabed nearby.

Early in the morning, Wang Chenhao drove the Jiaolong to dive to find the Blackstone. At the same time, the Thebes and Lawrence also left the dock and followed the Jiaolong cruising near the Black Rock Reef, so that the signal of the Jiaolong could be spotted at any time and the salvage could begin immediately.

Since the Blackstone was named after a nearby island called Blackstone Reef after the Tang Dynasty wreck, Wang Chenhao only scanned the seabed in the waters near Blackstone Reef and soon found the Blackstone. After the Jiaolong surfaced, Wang Chenhao summoned the Thebes and Lawrence to start salvage work.

As long as Wang Chenhao gave them a signal, they immediately started the salvage work, and everything was in order, as if they had been trained for more than ten years. Of course, this is also related to Wang Chenhao's management of them. All the team members were dug from the Beiyang Naval Division's mine battalion, and they were already well-trained, and Wang Chenhao implemented militarized management of them, and this work efficiency was not comparable to that of foreign civilian salvage teams.

The Blackstone's hull is fairly intact, the large hole in the bottom of the wreck is presumed to be caused by a reef, the seabed structure of the sunken site is clay rather than rock, the fully loaded ships stir up the clay on the seabed and are buried to form a protective layer, and most of the ceramics carried on board are stored in large piles fired in Guangdong, which effectively protect these ceramics from destruction.

After clearing the mud from the wreck, the divers easily found the large pile, cut multiple openings and filled batches of ceramics into the largest wire nets, and then fished them out of the surface with a large scratch head.

The salvage work of the Blackstone was carried out in an orderly manner, and Wang Chenhao was idle, driving the Jiaolong around the neighborhood to see if there were any unexpected gains.

On the sea, the Thebes and Lawrence were more than 100 meters apart from each other, and several of their stern cranes were replaced in turn, so that at least two cranes were kept in working condition at any time, which greatly improved the efficiency of salvage operations.

The deck is crowded with people, batches of ceramics are carefully taken out of the wire nets and cleaned, then sorted and placed by appraisers to assess their value, and finally the ceramics are written with a price and moved into the inventory.

More than 67,000 pieces of cultural relics and ceramic products were salvaged from the Black Stone, 98% of which were mainland ceramics of the Tang Dynasty. Changsha kiln porcelain is the mainstay, about 56,500 pieces, and the type of vessel is mainly bowl, followed by holding pot. Other types include cups, plates, bowls, boxes, pots, smokers, oil lamps, and a small number of Xiao Sheng porcelain sculptures. There is a porcelain bowl with the inscription "July 16th of the second year of the Baoli calendar", and the pattern of the bowl is close to the Arab "Allah", and the second year of the Baoli is the year of Tang Jingzong (826). Some bowls are written with "tea cups", which clearly mark the use of the tea set of the porcelain bowl, and some porcelain bowls are written with "Hunan Daocao City Shizhu Mencius has a famous Fan Jiaji", indicating that the product comes from Changsha kiln, with the surname of advertising language, and a large number of depictions of flowers and leaves, lotus flowers, birds, Mojie fish patterns, etc.

The remaining more than 10,000 pieces of porcelain were custom-made at the request of the Arabs. The patterns and decorations with Arabic style indicate that the Changsha kiln in the Tang Dynasty adjusted its product characteristics in order to meet the needs of the West Asian market. And this kind of adjusted special Tang porcelain is even rarer, and its natural value is higher.

In addition, the salvaged porcelain also includes 200 pieces of Yue kiln celadon produced in Zhejiang, 350 pieces of northern white porcelain, 200 pieces of northern white glazed green color ceramics and more than 700 pieces of rough celadon fired in local kilns in Guangdong.

Qiao Yuying walked slowly on the deck, looking at the piles of Tang Dynasty porcelain with a face full of surprise. In China, an ordinary Tang Dynasty porcelain is a rarity, but here, it is piles of Tang Dynasty porcelain, which is really unimaginable.
