Chapter 127: The New Forces

At the bloc level, armistice talks have become unattainable, not to mention armistice talks with the United States. The question is. As long as the negotiations have not officially begun, there will be no reason for the authorities of the republic to declare a unilateral ceasefire, and the republican team will have to continue to fight, turning the United States into ruins with bombs and shells.

In the second half of the year, the intensity of strategic strikes by the Navy of the Republic and the Jade Army decreased.

According to the authorities of the Republic, this is to create a favorable atmosphere for armistice negotiations, after all, too strong a strategic blow will only make the armistice negotiations meaningless. Of course, this is only one side of the story of the authorities of the Republic. Although the intensity of the strike has been reduced considerably, the strategic strike operation is not over. According to the battle report released by the Republican ** team, at the end of March. In total, the Navy and the Celestial Army carried out a joint strike mission, striking dozens of large and medium-sized cities with populations ranging from 10,000 to 40,000, such as Billings in Montana, Boise in Idaho, Casper in Wyoming, Ogden and Olem in Utah, Colorado Springs and Pueblo in Colorado, Scottsdale and Tucson in Arizona, Santa Fe in New Mexico, and Amaleno and Edessa in Western Texas. As a result, nearly a million people have been killed, and tens of millions of urban dwellers have become war refugees.

In this series of strategic strikes, the most incredible thing was born in March. According to the operational record of the Navy of the Republic. During the day, the main fleet operating in the Gulf of Mexico carried out concentrated artillery bombardment of more than a dozen refugee camps in Colorado and Wyoming. However, there is only one reason for the Navy to strike at these humanitarian facilities, that is, the current United States authorities are transporting industrial equipment that can be used to produce war materials into the refugee camps, that is, the United States authorities organize refugees to carry out military production, which is contrary to humanitarian principles. If that is the case, the responsibility lies with the US authorities. The problem is that the United States has never been a labor-poor country, and the first thing the American authorities have to think about is keeping the refugees in the camps alive, not about allowing them to participate in war production. Besides, when there is not enough to eat, few refugees are willing to participate in production. What's more, in the post-war investigations, there was no "military production equipment" as the current Republic Navy claimed, but imitation weaving equipment used to produce quilts was found in a few refugee camps, which, according to the records of the United States authorities, were also used to produce spring and summer uniforms for refugees.

In addition, not all of the camps that had been shelled had production equipment, and even most of the camps did not have any industrial equipment that could be used to produce military supplies, including uniforms. In other words, the Navy of the Republic found a reason to send hundreds of thousands of war refugees to hell and cripple millions for life. Of course, after the end of the war, the authorities of the republic did not hold the Navy responsible.

From this, it follows that the reason for the reduction in the intensity of the blow in late March was not what the authorities of the republic said.

From the standpoint of the armed forces, there is only one reason for reducing the intensity of strikes in late March, that is, the newly established strategic strike command has not yet been formally put into operation, and the navy and the space force must concentrate their energies on command adjustment, that is, they must set up a strike command center in accordance with the arrangements of the Supreme Command, and then arrange strategic strike operations according to the new theater division method, so that they cannot devote too much energy to specific tactical operations.

Obviously, this is also a less plausible reason.

You must know that by the time of Jinxian, the total strength of the Navy of the Republic had exceeded 10,000, of which there were about 50,000 staff officers of the Navy Command and the naval command headquarters of various theaters, and these personnel were able to ensure the normal operation of at least two sets of command organs. Although the size of the space force is slightly smaller than that of the navy, the total strength of the force is also 10,000, and the space force is a standard strategic service, so there are more staff officers in the rear, and the command headquarters at all levels add up to about 10,000 people, which can also ensure the normal operation of the two sets of command organs. In other words, it is impossible for neither the Navy nor the Space Forces of the Republic to have enough staff officers to take charge of strategic strike operations because they want to set up a new strategic strike command and command, so as to reduce the intensity of strategic strikes and allow the many combat units deployed on the front line to bask in the sun.

Some people may think that the integration of strike forces from the two branches of the armed forces will have an impact on strike operations.

Obviously, this view is also unrealistic.

Admittedly, in terms of strategic strikes. It is true that the Celestial Army and the Navy have their own way, each has its own set of standards, and each has its own set of command and control systems, but the war has been fought for more than six years, and the Navy and the Celestial Army have not fought in coordination, but have been fighting in harmony, and they have cooperated in dealing with Australia and New Zealand as early as before the battle. Arguably. The problem of the two branches of the armed forces working together is not a big one, and there is no need to solve it specifically.

At that time, there was only one reason for the sudden drop in the intensity of strategic strikes, that is, problems with logistics. As mentioned earlier, the authorities of the republic, when planning a strategic strike on the United States mainland, placed a large part of their hopes on the Panama Canal. Not that the Panama Canal is important in strategic strike operations, but that the canal has a crucial impact on logistics. It can be said that whether Panama can be strategized and the canal navigable will be of decisive significance for the subsequent combat operations. It's a pity that just when the Republic Navy was preparing to attack Panama, the desperate U.S. military not only blew up the ship, but also used people once, and the earthquake blocked the barbarian "Xun Chief Xi If he just blew up the locks, it would not be a big problem.

The Navy of the Republic has long taken into account this situation. And customized a batch of equipment for repairing the locks, and it is sure that the blown up locks will be repaired within 3 months, so that the canal can be navigated. The problem is, no piece of equipment can replace an excavator, and unclogging a waterway is definitely something that can drive people crazy. After the occupation of Panama, the Navy and Marine Corps of the Republic dispatched engineers to analyze the blockage of the shipping lanes and to make a comprehensive assessment of the dredging of the shipping lanes. When the conclusion is drawn. Dredging the shipping lanes and clearing the Lake Gatun of shipwrecks, mines, and other dangerous goods would require at least a second Panama Canal.

There is no doubt that such a conclusion is tantamount to a death sentence for the Panama Canal.

Not to mention the dredging of the canal during the war, even after the war, when the authorities of the republic chose to build a second canal, did not consider dredging the Panama Canal. Although this is not entirely economic, it has a lot to do with political issues, namely the fact that the Panamanian authorities, who have relied more on European aid after the war, have deliberately alienated the republic, forcing it to take political advantage when considering the opening of the Pacific and Atlantic routes. Jigo invested trillions in the construction of the Nicaragua Canal (which later rose rapidly with air transport. Shipping gradually declined, and this plan was not implemented, or was it funded by Europe to dredge the Panama Canal), but to a large extent, it was still an economic problem, i.e. the huge investment did not pay off in the same huge return.

In any case, the Panama Canal was not to be navigable during the war.

As a result, the authorities of the republic had to adjust their strategic deployments, for example, by allowing the Celestial Forces to leave about half of their strategic bombers in the Pacific instead of sending them all to the Atlantic. Another example is that when arranging a later strategic strike, the US mainland was divided into two parts, with the space force in charge of the central region and the navy in charge of the eastern region, so as to make effective use of the strategic bombardment deployed in the Pacific Ocean

Machine.

The problem is that none of these adjustments can fundamentally change the difficulties encountered in logistical support.

As mentioned earlier, although from the Republic; The route through the Sea of Malacca, the Suez Canal and the Strait of Gibraltar, and then to the Caribbean Sea is not much longer than the Pacific route, but it is subject to the navigability of several maritime chokepoints, such as the Strait of Malacca, the Suez Canal and the Strait of Gibraltar. As well as the lack of large-scale material transshipment centers along the way, especially after crossing the Suez Canal, there are almost no reliable anchorages, so the transportation capacity of this route is very limited, only about half of the front-line combat needs, and the other half of the materials must take the third route, that is, after passing through the Strait of Malacca, crossing the Indian Ocean, entering the Atlantic Ocean from the Cape of Good Hope, and then crossing the Atlantic Ocean through the Cape Verde Islands, reaching the Little Andreas Islands and then entering the Caribbean Sea and heading to Cuba. Although the transshipment points on this route are relatively even, after entering the Indian Ocean, you can stop at the Cia Garcia and False Bay, and after entering the Atlantic, you can also stop in the Cape Verde Islands and Little Andreas Qunu, a total of four large transshipment centers, enough to support dozens of fleets. But the distance of this route is so great that even if the fleet is equipped with high-class merchant ships with unlimited endurance, it will not guarantee transportation efficiency. To be precise, to transport the same supplies on this voyage; The number of transport fleets put into line is almost twice as large as on the other two routes! It can be seen from this that without changing the intensity of support, after the Panama Canal is blocked, the number of transport fleets will increase by about the same time. Even if the intensity of support is appropriately reduced by adjusting the strategic deployment. It is also necessary to increase the transport force to the point of being mushy in order to ensure the normal operation of combat units in the Atlantic.

One might think that for the republic, this is nothing.

If it is only a combat operation on a local battlefield, this is really not a big problem. The problem can be solved by deploying transport forces on other battlefields. In fact, before that. The Republican Navy has done this many times, for example, during the bombing of Australia, bringing in a large number of convoys from the Indian Ocean. The problem is that this is not the following year, and the United States is the last battlefield. The republic sent almost all of its combat forces over to increase its maritime forces. It's definitely not as simple as saying a word. It can be said that with the situation at that time, not to mention increasing the capacity of inkstone to paste, even if it is not realistic to increase the capacity of Anhui in the short term.

Of course, this is not to say that the republic does not have enough transport vessels, but that it is unable to draw up enough transport vessels. According to the information released after the war, at the time of the 2nd and 3rd East, only about half of the total number of ships used by the Republic for military shipping had been transferred, and the other half had been transferred to other directions, especially to help many allies and occupied territories in post-war reconstruction. Restore normal order. For example, in order to send food produced in India's grain factories to many countries where there is already famine, so that billions of people do not go hungry, the authorities of the Republic have mobilized nearly 1,000 large ships to support the fleet. Hundreds of millions of tons of rice, flour, corn, potatoes, soybeans and other food were sent to ports in these countries, millions of military personnel were organized, and thousands of aid stations and grain distribution centers were set up in these countries. Of course, food is only used to solve urgent needs, and for some countries that are anxious to restore domestic order, it is necessary to rebuild in advance before they can be rebuilt. With the end of the war in the Middle East, the Syrian authorities must begin post-war reconstruction as soon as possible in order to no longer be a second-rate country in the four Rabes, and this is largely dependent on the assistance provided by the republic, that is, the reinforced concrete purchased at the Republic's expense. In order to establish good relations with the Syrian authorities, the Republic also had to ensure that these supplies were delivered to Damascus in a timely manner, so several flotillas had to be dispatched.

It is also a good thing for the Republican ** force, especially the strategic strike force of the Navy and the Space Force, to reduce the intensity of the strike.

Whether it is the strategic bombers of the Space Army or the main fleet of the Navy, they need time to rest. It takes more time to carry out normal maintenance and maintenance. Of course, many officers and men who have been on combat duty overseas for several months, or even more than 10 months, also need to breathe a sigh of relief.

There was no reason to relax before, and since the ammunition and materials could not be delivered, there was naturally a reason to relax.

The more beautiful things are, the more ephemeral they are.

The situation of unsustainable logistical support has improved considerably. It was not the Navy that solved the problem, but the support aviation, which had been marginalized in this war, the only branch of the army that retained its Air Force pedigree.

As mentioned earlier, when the Air Force was annexed. In fact, the dagger was split into three parts, and the tactical aviation was merged into the navy and the army, and the small strategic aviation was annexed by the space army, and only the support aviation was retained and became an independent branch of the army under the name of the sky army. Although in this war, the disappearance of the support aviation did not stand in the foreground, and was not even known, because the vertical take-off and landing transport planes active in the front line are tactical airlift forces, which belong to the army and navy, and only those large transport planes with a carrying capacity of up to 100 tons and can fly tens of thousands of kilometers under full load are subordinate to the support aviation, but no one can deny the major contributions made by the support aviation, especially in some key battles, the huge air transport capacity of the support aviation has become the key force that determines the victory or defeat. For example, in the combat operation of attacking Saipan, after the Marine Corps took control of the airport, the support aviation sent all the officers and men and all the equipment of the two Marine Brigades to the island overnight, which was absolutely impossible for the Navy to do. During the attack on Moscow, the support aviation allowed two combat units to complete the strategic transfer within hours, which was also impossible for the army aviation to do. It's a pity that this obscure contribution in the background. It is difficult to attract attention, and it is difficult to become the protagonist of war.

It was only towards the end of the war that the support aviation found an opportunity to perform.

It was the kind of "air carrier" that the Air Force desperately drove before the war that made the supporting aviation the protagonist. That is, it can deliver thousands of tons, or even tens of thousands of tons of goods at a time, to any location on the planet at a time of nearly 1,000 kilometers per hour. And it is not affected by natural conditions such as weather, terrain, sea area, etc. Interestingly, the purpose of the Air Force's efforts to develop this airlift system was to challenge the Navy's aircraft carriers. However, during the war, the aircraft carrier fell rapidly, and even if the advent of remote-controlled fighters made the aviation force prosperous, it did not let the aircraft carrier flourish. As a result, the airlift platform, on which the Air Force had high hopes, ceased to be an ideal combat platform and was downgraded to a transport platform. It is this change that has allowed this air transport system, which has not received much attention, to gain room for exhibition.

, the High Command of the Republic approved the contract for the procurement of a 50,000-ton air transport platform from Litai.

Thanks to the wartime mechanism, the peacetime job, which would have taken years to complete, was delivered in the first five airlift systems. And the tests were completed. By the end of March, the Litai air transport system was completed and delivered. The biggest advantage of an air freight platform is not the load capacity, but the degree of transport.

Compared to most commercial ships, air freight platforms with a flight degree of more than kilometres per hour can fly the same distance in one-tenth of the time. What's more, air routes are not limited by geographical factors, so the air routes from the Republic to Cuba are only for us. kilometers, which is about a kilometer shorter than the shortest sea route. Therefore, the degree of air freight is twice that of sea freight. What's more, the air platform uses modular equipment that is more convenient for loading and unloading, and if there is a large enough space, the unloading can be completed in a matter of hours, and then the loading can be completed in an hour. At the group level, armistice negotiations became unattainable, not to mention armistice talks with the United States. The question is. The loading and unloading time of a large merchant ship of 10,000 tons is often about a week. Combining these factors, in the case of transporting concave 10,000 tons of goods to Cuba, a 50,000-ton air transport platform needs to fly and feed, which takes a total of days, and a large merchant ship of concave 10,000 tons needs to sail once. But it takes time. Because this does not take into account the weather (the air platform flies at an altitude of more than the old kilometer, and basically does not need to consider the effects of the weather), the air platform can be transported at least twice as efficiently as a ship of the same carrying capacity.

The introduction of a 50,000-ton air freight platform is equivalent to a fleet of large ships.

It is the arrival of this transport force that has put the strategic strike back in the fast lane.
