In this time and space, on November 7, Petrograd time, Russia, there were actually two "revolutions" of extraordinary significance on this earth. In addition to the Russian proletarian revolution, known as the "October Revolution", there was also the "Guangzhou Incident" in Guangzhou, China.
In fact, the "Guangzhou Incident" occurred slightly earlier than the "October Revolution" in Russia, but due to the time difference between China and Russia, the time of this incident was recorded as November 8 in the sixth year of the Republic of China, which seemed to be one day later than the October Revolution that occurred on November 7, so it is also called the "November 8 Revolution".
The entire coastal area of southern China has been shrouded in wind and rain for two days. The section of the Pearl River near Guangzhou has just experienced a violent storm, and now the heavy rain has only subsided, and a huge group of transport ships is slowly sailing north in the rain and fog.
Jiang Jishi and Zang Zhiping stood side by side on the bow of one of the largest merchant ships, watching the fleet pass from under the muzzle of the Humen Fortress unharmed, and they breathed a sigh of relief.
Jiang Jshi wiped the rain from his face, and said with a smile to Zang Zhiping: "It's okay now, after Humen Guangzhou, you're looking at it." Commander-in-chief, Guangzhou has Zhu Yizhi's Fourth Division of the Dian Army to cooperate, and it can definitely be taken lightly, you don't have to worry. â
Zhu Yizhi is Zhu Peide, one of the "Model Two Zhu" in the Yunnan Army, and a faithful believer of Sun Yat-sen. His troops had just defeated the army of Long Jiguang, the former Guangdong overseer who had counterattacked from Hainan Island, in October, and had made a great contribution by destroying tens of thousands of enemies, and Sun Yat-sen had easily promoted him to be the commander of the Guangzhou garrison! His first division of the Yunnan Army was also justifiably stationed in Guangzhou City, which happened to serve as Jiang Jshi's internal response.
Zang Zhiping also knew that there was no problem in taking Guangzhou, but his face was still a little dignified: "I'm afraid Lu Ganqing won't be willing to lose Guangzhou, right?" His Gui army is a strong force, if he takes refuge in the Beiyang side, plus Long Jiguang on the Hainan side, this shape is still not good......"
In fact, Jiang J Shixin was also worried about this problem, but he couldn't reveal it in front of Zang Zhiping, an "outsider".
He forced a smile and said to Zang Zhiping: "Commander-in-chief, don't worry, the Gui army is not monolithic. Lin Yinqing (Lin Hu), the commander of Zhaoluoyang Town, is a comrade of our revolutionary party, Liu Xianchen (Liu Zhenhuan), deputy commander of the Guangxi Patrol Battalion, has always been inclined to revolution, and Shen Guannan (Shen Hongying), the guard of Qinlian Town, is a wall-to-wall grass. We've sent someone to 'sport' him. Therefore, I am 120% sure that I can easily succeed in this plan, and maybe the entire Liangguang can be carried out in one go...... The commander-in-chief, of course, is the first credit! The generalissimo has always had clear rewards and punishments, and a minister or governor always has it. â
Zang Zhiping smiled. He didn't take Jiang Jshi's official wish seriously, but just watched intently as the fleet slowly moved forward in the gradually narrowing channel of the Pearl River, and the towns and markets on both sides of the strait gradually became denser, and finally they were connected, and the city of Guangzhou had appeared in the field of vision.
The flotilla docked at the busy Nanguan Tianzi Wharf. Rather, it is at the Yuzhu Wharf in the southeast of Guangzhou City, just opposite Cheung Chau Island. There are not many ships on this wharf, only some warships of the Protector Fleet are anchored here, and the officers and men on these warships are also loyal to Sun Yat-sen at the moment, and there are also Yunnan officers and soldiers with loaded guns on the wharf who are on guard.
Jiang Jshi exhaled lightly and said to the naval officers and soldiers beside him: "Flag slogan, please dock!" â
A small officer waved the signal flag in his hand, and the opposite side quickly reacted. The junior officer turned to Jiang J Shi and said, "Sir." The other side agreed to let us dock. â
Jiang Jishi smiled and said to Zang Zhiping beside him: "Great, it seems that this Yuzhu Wharf has been completely controlled by the Dian army!" When more than 10,000 of us go ashore, Guangzhou will be our world! â
The flotilla finally reached the dock, and the decks of each steamer were already crowded with soldiers preparing to disembark. Most of these officers and men were adapted from the Guangdong Army and Zang Zhiping's old Beiyang 14th Mixed Brigade trained by Jiang Jshi, and their combat effectiveness was quite good. If you count the long-experienced Dian army in Zhu Peide's hand, don't say that the Gui army in Guangzhou City can't bear it. Even if the Gui army of Liangguang is concentrated, it may not be an opponent!
This Lu Rongting's old Gui lineage. It is completely different from the new Gui line of Li Zongren and Bai Chongxi in history!
At this time, in the interior of Guangzhou City, Rong Ting's patrol envoy Yamen was already in chaos. The news that Sun Yat-sen had transferred heavy troops from the sea was finally reported to Lu Rongting by the eyeliner deployed by the Gui army near the Yuzhu Wharf!
However, he has a heavy army outside, and here in Guangzhou are only some patrol envoys, yamen and guards of the overseer's office, and a small number of troops from the Guangxi patrol battalion, with a total strength of only eight battalions! The Fourth Division of the Dian Army stationed in Guangzhou was obviously insufficient, not to mention the Cantonese army transferred from the sea. Moreover, the Gui army stationed in Dongguan also sent an urgent telegram, saying that there was a brigade of Cantonese troops from Huizhou, with a total strength of no more than 10,000 people!
Lu Ganshuai, who was born in the green forest and is said to have more than 80 scars on his body, was at a loss at this time, and was so anxious that he walked around the patrol yamen, and ordered to hold on for a while, and then said that he would withdraw to the old nest in Guangxi, and then asked people to send a telegram to Ma Ji, the general of the Gui army on the Hunan front, and asked him to quickly lead the troops back to help! Inside the patrol yamen, there was even more panic, official documents and telegrams were thrown everywhere, and many staff officers were busy burning important documents, and from time to time you could hear the cries of women and the shouts and curses of Guangxi accents.
Chen Bingkun, the overseer of Guangdong, has already arrived at Lu Rongting's side at this moment, his relationship with the revolutionary party has always been bad, and he has always resolutely opposed allowing Sun Yat-sen to use force, and he is even jumping to scold at this time.
ââŚâŚ The surname Sun is not a thing! We've all fallen for him! If we knew this was the case, why did we follow him to protect the Fa? It's better to recognize Duan Zhiquan's Anfu Congress...... Handsome! He Sun Wen is unjust, and we are not benevolent, so he simply doesn't do it, and he doesn't stop fighting, and he takes refuge in Beiyang! â
Lu Rongting turned his head and glared at him: "Lao Tzu also wants to go to Beiyang!" But now Sun Cannon's 20,000 soldiers have arrived at the city of Guangzhou, and there are still 10,000 soldiers on the way! When will the soldiers from Beiyang come? You can't fly even if you put on your wings! â
Chen Bingkun stomped his feet: "Dashuai, what should we do?" There were only eight battalions in the city, and the full number of them was less than three thousand...... One fights ten, we can't win! â
He thought about it for Lu Rongting, and there was really no way to do it at this time. Sun Yat-sen is the head snake of Guangdong! Before Long Jiguang of the Gui family came in, the two governors of Guangdong were his henchmen, and the local soldiers (people's army) in Guangdong were also led by Sun Yat-sen. The good days of the Gui family in Guangdong are over this time.
"You can't completely turn your face with Sun Cannon right now!" Lu Rongting seems to have paid attention at this time. He stood still and took a deep breath: "Sun Cannon shouldn't want to kill us all." â
"Don't turn your face? Why don't you turn your face after all this? Chen Bingkun stomped his feet and shouted.
Lu Rongting glared at him: "Of course you can't turn your face!" The Yunnan and Guangdong armies in Guangdong have at least 40,000 people, and if you count the people's army, I am afraid that there are more than 80,000...... How many of us are there? Now tear your face and fight it. We will definitely not hold out until the reinforcements from Beiyang come over, and we will be wiped out! And what if the soldiers from Beiyang come over? The Guangdong overseer is Cao Kun's, the Guangxi overseer is Wu Peifu's, you and I go home to eat old rice! â
"So, that, what then?"
Lu Rongting gritted his teeth: "It's not too late for a gentleman to take revenge for ten years, let's retreat to Wuzhou first." At the same time, he sent someone to beg Sun Dacang for mercy, expressing his willingness to give up the position of Guangdong overseer and governor of Guangdong Province! He lowered his voice again and said hatefully: "The matter of contacting Duan Qirui must be carried out in secret, and we can only have the capital to bargain with Beijing if we stabilize our position first and preserve our strength." Even if you sell it, you have to sell it for a good price! â

3 a.m. on October 25, 1917 in the Julian calendar. At the same time that Sun Yat-sen's Cantonese army marched towards Guangzhou, the October Revolution in Russia had already begun!
Huang Baopei closed the pocket watch in his hand, he was already wearing a Russian-style military coat, a bright red armband, and a large number of riding boots on his feet, completely in the standard dress of the Russian Bolshevik Red Guards.
Thinking of his experience over the past year or so, he can only describe it with words like magical or bizarre. A graduate of Peking University was actually by chance. Arranged here by fate. And also to take part in an armed uprising in a foreign country! Moreover, he has become the number one member of the "Red Army Aiding Russia" with more than 10,000 officers and soldiers. I don't know if I can get an overseer or a governor or something to do when I go back to China in the future?
He took a deep breath and waved his hand behind him, and hundreds of officers and soldiers of the "Red Army Aiding Russia" dressed almost like him quickly poured out of the streets near the Nikolaevsky railway station, all of them holding Russian-made Mosin Nagant rifles with snow-bright bayonets, shouting and launching the first wave of attacks at the railway station.
This railway station is the terminus of the Nikolai Railway from Petrograd to Moscow. It is also an important transport hub in Petrograd, so the Provisional Government has deployed more than a hundred police officers here â right now in Petrograd. In addition to female soldiers and non-commissioned officers, the only force that the provisional government can use is probably these police uncles. Except for the police. There were also hundreds of railway workers and station workers inside the railway station, who had long been supporters of the Bolsheviks and were waiting for the day of the uprising.
Seeing the "Red Guards" attacking, they also staged a "riot" in the station at the same time, and scuffled with the police sent by the provisional government, and several people even took advantage of the chaos to open the big iron gate of the railway station and let the Red Guards with the faces of the east inside. As for the policemen, there was not much actual struggle, but they surrendered after a little resistance.
After Shun LĂŹ captured the Nikolaevsky railway station, Huang Baopei left more than a hundred soldiers to guard the railway station. He led the main force under the leadership of a few railway workers who were familiar with the terrain, and quickly approached the Hermitage Square on the north bank of the Neva River, encountering several insurrectionary troops along the way, and many citizens of Petrograd also spontaneously joined the march to the Hermitage. The citizens of the whole of Petrograd seemed to be looking forward to this day, and the streets were full of cheering and shouting crowds, waving red flags and all sorts of placards written in Russian, as if they were celebrating some kind of holiday!
Later, the uprising led by Huang Baopei had turned into a procession, with more than 1,000 officers and soldiers of the "Red Army Aiding Russia" scattered in the procession, and less than 100 people were still surrounding him. Huang Baopei was so anxious that his face was covered with sweat, although he did not have a proper military education, but he also knew that such a chaotic group of rabble had no way to fight!
But when he arrived at the Hermitage Square, he realized that his previous fears were completely unnecessary. It was already crowded with people, with at least tens of thousands of Red Guards and masses of people in Petrograd crowding there, surrounding the Winter Palace, the last stronghold of the Provisional Government. Huang Baopei and the others came a little late, so they could only crowd around the periphery to watch the excitement, and it was not their turn to attack the Winter Palace at all.
More than a dozen men and women dressed in Red Guard clothes walked over, and the first one was the Polish girl Natalie whom Huang Baopei knew. Natalie waved her hand and shouted loudly in Chinese, "Comrade Huang! It's waiting for you! Tang Jiu, Ren Fuchen, Liu Shaozhou, Zhong Zhijie and their teams have already arrived! â
Huang Baopei raised his head and looked at this Polish doll revolutionary who was more than 1.70 meters tall, and his cheeks were slightly red. smiled and said, "I didn't expect them to come so quickly, by the way, where are they?" â
Natalie shrugged her shoulders and spread her hands, "I don't know." The above just asked me to wait here for you, the Chinese comrades, to register and report to each team that comes. â
"Oh." Huang Baopei glanced at the chaotic scene around him, and asked, "Comrade Lesinskaya (Natalie's surname), then what should we do now?" When will the assault on the Hermitage begin? â
Natalie tilted her head. Showing a playful smile: "I don't know, it didn't say it, just let us wait for the signal, and then attack the Winter Palace together." But...... You have to queue up to attack the Winter Palace, it seems that we are at the back of the line, I don't know if we can take the turn? â
"Queue?" Huang Baopei looked at the crowded scene in front of the Winter Palace Square, and smiled bitterly: "It seems that it is not our turn, by the way." You just said the signal. What is that? â
"It's the cannon of the cruiser Aurora!" Natalie replied excitedly, "It says it's going to bombard the Winter Palace!" That's the signal for our general attack. â
"When will the cannon be fired?" Huang Baopei asked again.
Natalie stuck out her tongue and half-jokingly said, "Uh, probably until they find the shells, right?" I heard that it was a cruiser under overhaul, and there was no ammunition and no personnel on it. â
At this moment, Comrade Tang Jiu, a former terrorist of the Red Brigade, who held the post of commander-in-chief of the "Red Army Aiding Russia", had already crowded to a place close to the gate of the Winter Palace with a small group of people.
There is a bit more of a fighting atmosphere here than on the outskirts of the Hermitage Square. It's also relatively empty. The large iron gate at the main entrance of the Winter Palace was tightly closed, and behind the iron gate were a dozen shivering Russian female soldiers guarding a water-cooled machine gun. Looking at the crowd outside the door, I was completely overwhelmed! Some of the windows in the South Building of the Hermitage near the Hermitage Square were also converted into firing ports, where some non-commissioned officers and cadets loyal to the Provisional Government set up their rifles. The guns were all pointed at the Red Guards and the crowd in the square.
There were also people in the square who were setting up firing positions, and some figures who might be Bolshevik cadres were directing at the scene, and one of them, a middle-aged man in his forties with a bony cheekbones and a high cheekbones, with a mustache, ran in front of Tang Jiu and them with several young men who looked like workers.
"I am Felix, a member of the Revolutionary Military Headquarters. Edmondovich. Dzerzhinsky, you are now under my command. â
Tang Jiu glanced at the little old man-like member of the Military Headquarters, and said in extremely stiff Russian: "Okay, then please take command...... What should we do now? â
Dzerzhinsky raised his hand and pointed to a relatively open area in front of him, and ordered: "Go there, set up a machine gun, wait for the sound of shelling, and attack as soon as you hear it, through the window!" â
Tang Jiu nodded, beckoned his subordinates to move forward. Dzerzhinsky said again: "Sue your people, don't shoot indiscriminately after you attack it, try not to kill people!" Especially those in suits, they may be ministers of the provisional government, and you are going to capture them alive, you know? â
To be honest, Dzerzhinsky's order is a little strange, aren't those in the Winter Palace all enemies of the people? Why can't you kill it? However, Tang Jiu took such a question to heart, he just smiled: "Got it, Comrade Dzerzhinsky, we resolutely obey your orders!" â
Dzerzhinsky nodded in satisfaction, he had already struggled to explain these problems, and it was the first time he had met a revolutionary who carried out his actions without asking why.
Tang Jiu and his subordinates approached in the direction of the Winter Palace building, and it was not until the non-commissioned officers and students entrenched in the building fired warning shots that they ordered their subordinates to stop advancing and began to set up machine guns to arrange the starting position for the attack, and then began a long wait.
It wasn't until 9:45 p.m. that the cruiser Aurora on the Neva River finally fired a few empty rounds, and then the head of the Winter Palace Defense, Parichinsky, ordered the gates of the Winter Palace to be opened and surrendered......
Unlike what is recorded in the history books of later generations, the battle for the attack on the Winter Palace on the day of the October Revolution was not fierce at all, not even like a real battle, both the attacking Bolshevik Red Guards and the defending female soldiers and non-commissioned officers tried their best to avoid casualties, in fact it was a bloodless revolution!
