Chapter III: Development Direction

There are many types of torpedoes in Ramo, but the most common one is electric mines. The principle is not complicated, relying on a lead-acid battery to drive the motor, and then drive the double row opposing propellers. The fuse is a trigger device, and the explosives are high-explosive from the American company DuPont. Other affiliates have both homemade and purchased.

In Li Guang's opinion, this torpedo is not advanced. His knowledge can improve quite a lot, such as batteries and motors. The batteries and motors of this era are desperately backward. Li Guang's sister and brother-in-law are in the electric car business, and the family has a company that produces rechargeable batteries and permanent magnet motors. Not to mention nickel-metal hydride batteries, even the most basic lead-acid batteries can throw out the batteries used by Ramo for eight streets.

The 533mm large electric mine made by Rameau weighs one and a half tons. The warhead has less than 100 kilograms of explosives, a maximum speed of 30 knots, and a range of only 1.5 kilometers. The main weight of the torpedo was occupied by the battery and the motor.

However, Rameau is very proud of this, the advantages of electric lightning are exaggerated by its rendering, what no track, mute and so on.

From Li Guang's point of view, this thing can only go straight, and it doesn't even have a guide, in fact, it is just a cannonball that doesn't need a cannon. With a range of 1.5 km, there is no use at all except for playing sneak attacks on submarines. Originally, Li Guang was still very interested in torpedoes, but he thought that China might not even have submarines during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, so he was immediately interested. If this torpedo is installed on a warship, the range of 1.5 kilometers can not be so close to a naval warship except to seek death or death.

Li Guang is evaluating this from the perspective of the times, and in fact, Ramo's achievements are definitely not low. After the start of World War II, Germany's electric thunder was only slightly stronger than this. And Rameau's torpedo development is actually at the forefront of the world. But there is no improved model, and without development, it is not known why.

In half a month, Li Guang came up with a good idea - the idea of making money. Li Guang, who crossed over, had no money on him, but he had a ballpoint pen. This reminded Li Guang that there was no ballpoint pen in these years. So Li Guang drew a ballpoint pen drawing, ready to exchange it for some start-up capital.

Li Guang once knew about the history of Uruguay. Uruguay is mainly made up of Europeans who emigrated from Europe. The indigenous Charuya people were massacred hundreds of years ago when Europeans entered Uruguay. The vast majority of these European immigrants came from Spain and Italy, so Uruguayans are predominantly Spanish-speaking.

At present, however, Uruguay's economy is dominated by export-oriented agriculture and underdeveloped in industry and finance. Looking at the trams shuttling back and forth on the street, and the Western-style buildings on both sides of the street, the living standards of the people here are not low.

After a series of encounters, Li Guang realized that it was indeed very backward, and most people did not have many concepts of finance and patents. Li Guang made great efforts to find a few businessmen in his stumbling Spanish, and the ballpoint pen patent could not be sold at a good price here.

In the end, Li Guang decided that his method of making money in this place would not work at all. Li Guang persuaded Rameau, with Rameau contributing fifty dollars, Li Guang went to the United States to sell patents, and if it went well, Li Guang bought Rameau's assets, Rameau could repay the bank loan and return to Spain with the torpedo to make a fortune.

Trust between people is a very complex issue, perhaps Li Guang solved a few minor torpedo problems for Rameau, or perhaps Ramo is a warm-hearted person. In short, Rameau gave Li Guang fifty dollars with everything he had, and he also obtained a passport, and on 1 February, Li Guang boarded a cargo ship bound for the United States.

Li Guang is a northerner, very unfamiliar with sailing trips, and after more than half a month on the ship, he finally has a general understanding of the navigation technology of this era.

During the lonely voyage, Li Guang made a friend. The owner, Alfred, is of Italian descent and runs the route from Uruguay to the United States all year round. Alfred is now Chinese New Year's Eve, extremely experienced in seafaring, worked for people before the age of thirty, and spent $20,000 to buy a 4,000-ton second-hand freighter at the age of thirty, thus starting his entrepreneurial career.

A 4,000-ton freighter costs only $20,000, which is really beyond Li Guang's expectations. Alfred was extremely proud of the business, and it was probably the most successful investment of his life. Five years earlier, in 1932, at the height of the American economic crisis, Alfred had bought the boat for less than half the normal price.

If the current market price is that a new 4,000-ton ship would cost $80,000, Alfred has now ordered a new ship that is expected to be delivered next month.

Alfred's current ship is indeed old, using an old coal-fired boiler, and there were two breakdowns during the voyage, one of which was solved by Li Guang. Li Guang, who majored in mechanical engineering, felt that he was still a little useful, and he was a little complacent.

It was Li Guang's help that Alfred promised that Li Guang would not have to pay for the ship when he returned. Although the boat fare is not much, 25 US dollars, this is already half of Li Guang's funds.

Li Guang disembarked in New York Harbor and started his money-making trip non-stop.

Rameau had a part-time accountant who was a Jew named Arthur. Kohlberg, and the person Li Guang is looking for on this trip is this Arthur. Kohlberg introduced him as a Jew. His name is Laban Gamaliel.

The Jews' ability to do business has long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and Li Guang is convinced of this. However, now Li Guang did not dare to be careless about the awkward name of Rabangamariel, and the contract was drawn up very carefully. The Jews were calculating, but they attached great importance to the spirit of contract, and Li Guang was blind to the United States in this era, and relying on the accounting firm to sell ballpoint pen patents was the only feasible way.

In the following days, Li Guang began to investigate some raw materials related to torpedoes. Li Guang discovered his knowledge in Ramo's small factory, which was still promising in this era. Not to mention anything else, if Li Guang designs and manufactures batteries, the same weight of lead-acid batteries can increase the capacity by at least five times, even if the technology of this era is limited, it can be increased by three or four times.

In this way, the maximum defective range and speed of the torpedo designed by Ramo can be improved, and the firing range can reach more than five kilometers.

And Rameau's torpedoes were only made of steel shells, not aluminum alloys. An extremely simple reason is that Ramo doesn't know how to weld aluminum alloys.

If nothing else, if only these two improvements can be successful, this torpedo can greatly increase its combat effectiveness.

And these two technologies are not a problem for Li Guang. Although he has not studied batteries deeply, he knows all the manufacturing links very well. And aluminum alloy welding is the common sense of modern industry, argon arc welding.

Now Li Guang's mind has shifted to making torpedoes to make money. Therefore, Li Guang was very interested in buying the factory in Ramo. Li Guang is even planning to get a submarine to attack the warships of the Chinese army on the sea in the future, so as to contribute to China's anti-Japanese cause.
