Therefore, this branch of Buddhism became a famous Yang Qi sect in history, and later produced countless monks, the most famous is the living Buddha Jigong, known as the fifty ancestors of the entire Zen Buddhism.

The monk did not admit that the Amitayus Sutra tells the story of the Western Buddha Amitabha, because it tells about doing good deeds and accumulating virtue, karma, and doing good deeds to enter the Pure Land Buddha Kingdom of the Western Buddha, so it is liked by the rulers of the past dynasties, and its status in the minds of the Chinese people is also very large.

However, its purpose is different from that of Zen Buddhism, and there are too many gemstone aromas and wonderful sounds, which is the most intolerable in Zen Buddhism. Therefore, Xiaoshan said that there is no door and no temple.

The Zen machine is reasonable, and it can avoid this verse.

Zheng Lang also said: "The Buddha told Ananda, the past is immeasurably incredible, there are many eons of the central number, there is a Buddha born, the name of the world is free king Rulai, should be offered, wait for enlightenment, clear deeds, good death, world solution, supreme priest, adjust the husband, heavenly teacher, Buddha Shizun, the living professor forty-two eons, when the heavens and the people of the world preach the scriptures, there is a great country lord named the king of the world, listen to the Buddha's teachings, joyfully explain, find the supreme true Tao, abandon the country and donate the king, act as a sand gate, called the Dharma Tibet, and cultivate the Bodhisattva Dao. This is the origin of Maitreya Bodhisattva's abandonment of the country and donation to the king? ”

Amitabha Buddha was the lord of the country before he became a monk, and when he heard the Dharma, the king of freedom in the world, not to be the lord of the country, to leave the throne and become a monk, and then to make a grand wish to the king of freedom, what do I do. As Wang Rulai said, you should think carefully about what method you can achieve the solemn Buddha land you wish to achieve, and how to establish the pure Buddha land you desire. After speaking, he preached the wonderful appearance of the Pure Land of the 20 billion Buddha kingdoms for him. The Dharma Tibetan bhikshu has a clear understanding of the 20 billion Pure Land, and the Pure Land of the Buddha Kingdom that he has cultivated and absorbed far exceeds the 20 billion Pure Land. Then I made a wish, and I became a Buddha, and there are no hells, hungry ghosts, beasts, and reptiles in the pure land of the Buddha. As long as I am reborn in my Buddha realm, I will be able to attain supreme enlightenment, no longer fall into the evil path, and no longer have the reincarnation of the sea of suffering (there is no evil path in the country, and I will not fall into the evil realm), which is a total of four [***] vows. So he cultivated the Dharma, became a bodhisattva, and became a Buddha. This Pure Land is also called Western Elysium.

Zheng Lang smiled again: "It can also be regarded as offering and charity, Buddhism says almsgiving, also known as three-body wheel giving, the first kind of wealth and foreign things, like giving money and property, also called external giving." The second type, such as knowledge transfer and wisdom enlightenment, is also called internal charity. The third type is called fearless generosity, such as relieving the suffering and helping the people of the world. Amitabha Buddha left the throne of the king and became a monk, which can also be regarded as a kind of offering and almsgiving. But he just threw away the king's throne, and he didn't donate the wealth of the entire country to the free king Rulai, didn't he? ”

"When Shakyamuni Buddha said that Amitabha Buddha fulfilled his vow to become a Buddha from the bodhisattva's cause, Prince Ajaya and 500 elders each held a golden canopy and offered it to the Buddha. The Buddha said, "The prince and the five hundred others can become Buddhas in the future, and they have practiced the bodhisattva path in their previous lives, and they have made offerings to 40 billion Buddhas and accumulated merit, and they were my disciples when they were the Buddhas of the Buddhas, and they have come to offer to me today, which is a special cause." ”

"Why did you drop the middle sentence and make a wish in your heart, so that when we become Buddhas, we will be like Amitabha. The Buddha is telling you? Do you want gold too? ”

The former seems to be the words that Shakyamuni said when he saw that they offered 500 golden canopies, and the Buddha liked them.

The latter was the one they said when they made a great wish to let the Buddha know what was in their minds. The meaning of this loss is completely different.

In general, there are many hints and very vague words in various Buddhist scriptures that mention asking the people to make offerings and almsgiving, so when Wu Chengen wrote Journey to the West, he finally made fun of the Buddha and his disciples, and blackmailed Tang Seng's purple gold bowl. This passage is often overlooked by many, but it is a mockery of this very nature of Buddhism.

"Speaking of the Sutra of Amitayus, I suddenly remembered the following words, the Buddha warned the people not to disobey the Dharma and indulge in extravagance...... If you don't plan to cultivate goodness, you will regret it temporarily, and if you regret it later, what will it do? ”

It is a passage in the thirty-fifth quality of the Amitayus Sutra of Turbidity and Evil Suffering, starting from the second paragraph, that the officials in the upper position cannot be unknown, the position is not right, the people are wronged, the loyalty is damaged, the heart is different, and the machine is full of hypocrisy. The wish is good, and if it is really done, don't think about it. You can't be a bad person, you are not right in body and mind, you always have evil, you often think about silver, you are full of trouble, you are evil, you are evil, you are not happy, you are not good, you are not right Those who should seeker do not do it, or make gatherings, raise up armies, attack and rob, kill, rob and coerce. Give it to his wife, and enjoy it. Nor can they be jealous of good people, corrupt and virtuous, disrespect one's parents, disrespect one's teachers, have no faith in one's friends, be honest and rare, be noble and arrogant, claim one's own way, run amok of power, encroach on others, be fearful of others, not be ashamed of oneself, be difficult to degrade, always be arrogant, and so on.

Not only to be born, but also to go one step further than the Vimala Sutra, to be born, to be likely, to be loyal and filial, to be peaceful, to do good deeds.

It has been far from the original meaning of Buddhism, but the rulers must like it, and the people also like it, and it has done a lot of good things for Buddhism to carry forward. The only disadvantage is that if it is debated, it will be very bad for Buddhism.

Zheng Lang didn't want to overthrow Buddhism, and he didn't seize this huge loophole to continue to play, and asked: "I don't know how many evil deeds the monks and nuns in Hangzhou have committed all kinds of evil deeds that the Buddha said?" ”

"Master Zheng, not all monks and nuns in temples are like this. They don't practice the Dharma, they are greedy for hatred and happiness, and they fall into hell and suffer from reincarnation. ”

Xiaoshan's sentence has two meanings, there are good monks and bad monks, and they can't all be killed with a stick.

The temple is an extralegal person, even if it has to be dealt with, it is the Buddha who will deal with it, and it is not Zheng Lang's turn to do it.

"Good, good, Lord Zheng, don't turn the evil demon into a Buddha to confuse the people, put down the butcher's knife, become benevolent with one thought, and become a Buddha with one thought," a monk behind Xiaoshan chanted, and the other monks followed and praised.

"So what do you mean, I'm a demon?"

Zheng Lang's methods are quite controversial, including pretending to be a ghost tonight, but it is definitely not an evil demon. Compared with the lack of greed of these monks, Zheng Lang is hundreds of times better.

"I am a Confucian student, but I use the Dharma in all my arguments with you tonight. How many evil things have been done by the monks and nuns in the monasteries all over the world, and when I went to Taiping Prefecture, there was such an ugly case in Linjiang Temple. When he arrived in Hangzhou, in order to prevent the people from suffering from the autumn season, he and Futong sentenced him to exchange land for land, and he actually extorted money from the imperial court. Fortis Judgment. ”

Fu Bi understood and slapped his back high-five.

The official brought a few people, came to the high platform, and shouted at these monks: "You pay for my family's surname!" ”

It was the three family members of Yanwei Temple who were harmed by the autumn and drowned.

If you don't uncover it, you can uncover this matter, and the swallowtail temple has done a very bad job.

Xiaoshan sighed and said, "The Hangzhou government has already made a judgment and compensated you for your money. ”

"Zen Master Xiaoshan, according to what you say, can a human life be bought with a few hundred yuan? That's good, I'll spend thousands of dollars to buy the surnames of a dozen of your great monks, is it okay? ”

The monks could not answer.

Zheng Lang stepped down from the high platform, comforted a few words, and asked the officials to take the bitter master down, and said: "Fellow villagers, what is charity, and listen to the words of the Diamond Sutra. ”

Strictly speaking, neither the Vimala Sutra, nor the Medicine Sutra, nor the Sutra of Amitayus are the most important sutras, and many of the sutras were written by Shakyamuni's later monks in the words of the Buddha. In the past, the high status was the scriptures, and then it was the law and the theory.

But the Diamond Sutra is the king of all scriptures. Its status is equivalent to the Confucian Analects, which directly records the words of Shakyamuni. No matter which sect or sect it is, it is inseparable from this scripture.

"Zen Master Xiaoshan, let me ask you, repeatedly, Su Bodhi, the Bodhisattva should have no place to live in the Dharma, and the so-called non-stop color and giving, and not stop the sound and fragrance to touch the Dharma and give alms. Subodhi, the Bodhisattva should be like this, not living in the appearance, why? If a bodhisattva does not stop giving to each other, his merit is inconceivable. What does that mean? ”

"A bodhisattva should be free from attachment to all dharmas, and should give with an unattached state of mind, that is, he should not be attached to all kinds of giving, nor should he be attached to the sound, fragrance, taste, touch, and consciousness of giving. Bodhisattvas should do this to give, because if a bodhisattva can't give without being attached to appearances, he won't be able to attain incredible merit and immeasurable merit. ”

"Why are there so many voices, Sanskrit chanting, incense, temple bells, ritual utensils and statues in the monastery?"

Zheng Lang is not the first to raise this question, some Zen masters have raised it many times, and even cut down Buddha statues as firewood, precisely for this inconsequential appearance. But at this Buddha discernment meeting, Xiaoshan could not answer, so he said, "This charity is not another charity." ”

Zheng Lang misinterpreted part of it, and Xiaoshan also misinterpreted part of it. Dan Li was on Zheng Lang's side, and Zheng Lang did not pursue it, and continued: "Su Bodhi, what is Yu Yiyun? If a person is full of 3,000 worlds and seven treasures, and uses almsgiving, how much will the person receive? What to explain? ”

"If anyone gives all the seven treasures that fill the three thousand worlds (gold, silver, glass, coral, amber, agate, gold, silver, glass, agate, pearl, rose, gold, silver, glass, crystal, clams, agate, gold, silver, glass, crystal, dadax, agate, gold, silver, glass, crystal, dadacn, agate, and agate), he will not receive much merit." Xiaoshan replied stubbornly.

"What did Subodhi answer?"

"Many, many."

"What did the Buddha say?"

"If a person is able to receive this sutra with devotion, even if he holds four of them, and is able to liberate others, then that person will receive more merit than he will receive by giving to all the seven treasures of the three thousand worlds."

There is a premise here, you must be free for others, so there is a play in the Yuan song called "Yueming Monk Du Liu Cui", Liu Cui, let's become a monk, I saved the month of the alder eternal longevity, I will visit the Lingshan meeting head with you, and I will not ask for this old friend of Zhangtai, I am afraid that you will fold into the lover thrush hand again.

It is called degree, and it is also called liberation, which is exactly the great merit that Shakyamuni said.

But what Xiaoshan is worried about is below, Zheng Lang is already asking: "Wu Wei Fen Eleventh and Speaking of this matter, what did the Buddha say?" ”

"If a good man or a good woman is to speak for others in this sutra or even to the four verses, then this merit is better than the merit of the previous merit (the merit of giving with the three thousand treasures of the world filled with the sands of the Ganges)."

One less relief.

If you don't have liberation yourself, how can you help others liberate, let's start with the basics. However, Xiaoshan also said: "Master Zheng, what the Buddha said means is to increase merit by doing more good deeds, and doing less good deeds is to increase merit. ”

The latter is good, but the former is also a meritorious thing to give to the temple or incense. The two do not contradict each other.

Zheng Lang smiled and continued: "The nineteenth Buddha talked about this matter again, and then said that if the good fortune is true, if you don't say that there is more good fortune, if you don't say that there is more merit, if you have no good fortune, if you say that you have more good fortune, what does it mean? ”

"Merit is a real body surname, and if you come to say that you can get a lot of merit, because there is no real merit, you can say that there is a lot of merit."

Can the people understand this explanation? Can you explain it another way, if attachment is the cause, even if you use the treasures of the world as a cause and give to others, you can think that the merit has a real surname, and the Buddha will not say that he has been blessed a lot. If this attachment can be broken, and the giver corresponds to the prajna, and gives without taking the same giving, even if he gives a grain of rice, he can gain more merit? ”

"Yes," Xiaoshan was dripping in cold sweat, such an explanation would be very unfavorable to the incense giving of the temples in the future, but he was a Zen disciple after all, and he didn't dare to say that Zheng Lang was wrong.

"The Diamond Sutra has only about 5,000 words in total, but how many similar words do it say?"

It's not the three places that Zheng Lang said, but seven or eight of the thirty-two points.

"Each has its own wonderful use, in short, to teach sentient beings to receive this sutra, to break through attachment, and to attain the attainment of the three bodhichitta."

"Why do you say that I should destroy all sentient beings, and I should destroy all sentient beings, and there is no one who has destroyed all sentient beings?" It is the upper part of the conversation with Zen Master Yunruo at the beginning.

"I should save all sentient beings, and so destroy all sentient beings, and in reality none of them will save for me."

"Great monk, the people don't understand this, can you explain it like this, what is extinction, so that he can get rid of suffering and happiness, and enter Nirvana, this is exactly where the Buddha's wish lies. The Buddha's words mean that I have saved them, and I can't say in my heart how many people I have saved, even if I have saved all sentient beings in the world, I will not leave anything in my heart, this is the Bodhisattva path. Great monk, am I right? ”

"Yes," Xiaoshan shook his body.

Because the following new problems are coming.

Zheng Lang couldn't let it go, and continued: "The Buddha saved all sentient beings, and he didn't dare to leave traces in his heart, the good things you did were far less than the bad things you did, why should you bewitch the people's property and let them burn incense and make vows." You must know that some of the people among them are so poor that they can't even eat enough and can't wear warm clothes, this is the Buddha's original intention?! ”

"They are offering to the Buddha, and although they are suffering in this life, they will have good retribution in the next life."

"Futong Verdict."

Fu Bi walked over.

"You have given me an order, that all monasteries and nuns will flow into the mines of the South China Sea to mine the mines of the South China Sea, such as those who encroach on the fields, lend usury, enter and leave the houses of good women, occupy the mountains and forests, deceive people's minds, and run shops."

"Master Zheng, no."

"Why not, didn't you just say that although this life is hard, there will be good retribution in the next life."

"The difference between the two is that they give from the heart."

"Great monk, then you say that they are right to do this?"

"You can't distinguish between good and evil, or what kind of Zen master and monk, go!"

Xiaoshan retreated in shame.

Zheng Lang looked at the people and said: "There are two reasons why there are many similar words in the Diamond Sutra, one is that the Buddha has been enlightened for many years and has attained Buddhism. But when the Buddha founded the Dharma, not many people knew about the Dharma, or they did not know what the real Dharma was, so they encouraged the people to preach the Diamond Sutra. What he wants is to save the world, not wealth, so he has said many times that holding sutras and proclaiming Buddha is far greater than the seven treasures of the three thousand worlds. ”

There are many monks below who are eager to try, but don't know what to say.

Up to now, Zheng Lang has not defeated Buddhism, on the contrary, he has said many good things for Shakyamuni, but he has defeated the monks and nuns of the current monasteries. Therefore, let them not know what to say is good.

Zheng Lang continued: "There is another important reason, when the Buddha wrote the Diamond Sutra, he was in the Gion Monastery of the Guardian Kingdom, and as many as the elders had to pave the garden with gold leaves, and his heart was commendable. As Buddhism itself, one must promote the real Dharma, not only the Dharma itself, but also the temple, Zhaoti, Lanruo, but also Buddha statues, Sanskrit chanting, Dharma instruments, temple bells, with these auxiliary things, Buddhism can be promoted faster. So the Buddha did not reject. However, the people's power is limited in the end, the monks and nuns do not plough or weave, they have to rely on the people's charity to live, and then use the seven treasures to build temples and build fine houses, the more they build, the greater the pressure on the country and the people. Especially living in the Gion Monastery, Shakyamuni felt a lot, so he said many times that he could not receive this part with the seven treasures of the three thousand worlds, and even did not receive more than the four blessings of this sutra. And the first part of the Diamond Sutra was written, as I heard, for a while, the Buddha was in the garden of solitude in the tree of the Buddha of the Guardian Country, and the great bhikshus were all 1,250 people, and at that time, the World-Honored One wore clothes and held a bowl when eating, and entered the Great City to beg for food, and begged in the city for the first time, and returned to this place. Even the Buddha himself had to live by begging, and could not enjoy the generosity of the common people's believers. Why? Don't work for the people, don't hurt the country's wealth, and don't be confused by the luxury of Gion Retreat. This is the true meaning of a Buddha. Ladies and gentlemen, how many monks today make a living by turning their fortunes? ”

This question caused all the people to shout.

The Buddha had to beg for food in person, and these monks.

This is the secret in the Diamond Sutra, but it is a pity that people who are not interested in Buddhism do not pay attention, and those who are interested do not reveal it, or even distort it, and it has not been known to the world.

A monk stood up angrily and said, "Do you think that the Buddha's Dharma is the mean that you wrote? ”

After hearing this, Fu Bi suddenly smiled.

Isn't this a kind of moderation?

"Great monk, why the Diamond Sutra is the first of all scriptures is because it is simple and unpretentious, closer to the Buddha's original heart, and second, it says that all sages and saints are different from each other by doing nothing. What is Buddhism, the supreme principle of the operation of heaven and earth is Buddhism, everything is Buddhism, Confucianism is Buddhism, Taoism is Buddhism. On the contrary, Buddhism is Confucianism and Taoism is Confucianism. They all describe the truth of the operation of all things in heaven and earth, but because of the different levels of personal depth, different times, different places, and different encounters, the feelings produced are different, so the way of expression is different. This is the supreme avenue! I say I'm mean, why can't I call my meanness the Dharma? I can't even understand this, what qualifications do I have to come to me and discuss the Buddha with me. Go! ”

After saying that, Fu Bi understood, and sent someone to distribute the translation of the Diamond Sutra.

Suddenly, another voice came from the air: "Good, good, good." ”

Fu Bi knew the inside story, and he couldn't cry or laugh again.

However, Zheng Lang did not use images to embarrass these monks in the formal identification of Buddhism, nor did he have that ability. After a word of praise, the giant curtain slowly fell.

There was also a glimmer of light in the eastern sky, and the dew shimmered like pearls among the leaves. Zheng Lang stretched his waist and said, "Fellow monks, the Buddha has long forgotten about you, but how to distinguish this black from white, there are still two days, you think about it." ”

But a monk stretched out his hand to block Zheng Lang's way and said, "Master Zheng, the Diamond Sutra is empty. ”

I was a little anxious, so I let Zheng Lang go, and it was dawn soon, and Hangzhou didn't know what it would become. Coupled with the acceptance of the giant mantle, these monks were also relieved in their hearts, trying to continue the debate.

Zheng Lang said in a deep voice: "Yes, the Diamond Sutra and the Heart Sutra are both empty. But not only about emptiness, but also about many thoughts, Mahayana and Hinayana sects, almost all of them are developed on the basis of the Diamond Sutra, such as the Pure Land of Bliss, karma, Zen Buddhism, so although the number of words in this sutra is not much, but it really comes from the words of Shakyamuni, so it is broad and profound, all-encompassing. Just one of them can develop into a sect. Why do you appear so many times in just a few thousand words? There is another reason, I didn't want to say it, since you forced me, I asked for my surname to say it. When Shakyamuni led the monks to preach, Tianzhu was composed of many small countries, such as a state capital in the big country, and a small one was not as good as a county. The kingdom of Sawei is a small country in Nepal, and you all know how big it is. None of these countries are large, more than 1,000 bhikshus do not cultivate or weave, and Buddhism is not yet popular, which is a heavy burden for any country. So Shakyamuni's footprints had to be all over the Ganges River valley. The Gion Seisha is estimated to be a legend, how can a small country have so much gold to supplement the garden? But it must have been built beautifully, so Shakyamuni stayed for a long time, and preached here for twenty-five years. However, he was also faintly worried in his heart, fearing that his disciples would not be good in the future, and instead of learning from him to carry forward the spirit of the world, he would deceive people after learning the Dharma to satisfy his greed and laziness. Therefore, in such an important sutra as the Diamond Sutra, speak once, twice, three times, four times, five times...... Do not be deceived by the treasures of the foreign minister. There are many ways to talk about emptiness, so why do you mention this charity again and again? ”

"You are blaspheming the Buddha!"

"I blasphemed the Buddha, and listened, and ate my food, collected my mantle, and washed my feet. When the Buddha is in the world, he can't ride the clouds, so after turning into a fate with bare feet, he steps on the mud and washes his feet, which is the real Buddha. ”

As soon as he finished speaking, there was a buzz in the crowd.

The reason why I believe in Buddhism is precisely because the Buddha has great powers. Zheng Lang's two paragraphs unceremoniously pulled the Buddha down to the earth. The same skills as ordinary people, who believes. Philosophers, is there still less in China? Hundreds of schools of thought, flip through them casually, and you can turn out a great man, why believe in the religion of the Hu people?

"You, you," the monk almost vomited blood in anger.

"I don't need you and me, Shakyamuni originally had good intentions, promoted good and eliminated evil, purified all sentient beings, and had compassion. But after you lazy and greedy monks have evolved again and again, what has Buddhism become? Zheng Lang took it again, and did not shoot Buddhism to death all at once, in that case, he couldn't finish it for a year, but his tone was not relaxed, but more aggressive: "Before the future of Buddhism, there were three emperors and five emperors in China, five hundred years of Shang, eight hundred years of Zhou, and a prosperous era of Wenjing and Hanxuan in the Western Han Dynasty. But since Buddhism came to the East in the Eastern Han Dynasty, seeing what China had become, since Buddhism came to the East, the people in China began to live in poverty. The Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Southern Dynasties believed in Buddhism, and the country won and weakened, and finally Cheng Huaxia was orthodox, but it was annexed by the north. Emperor Taiwu of Wei destroyed the Buddha, and the Northern Wei Dynasty was extremely rampant. After Emperor Wencheng believed in Buddhism, the Northern Wei Dynasty deteriorated. Northern Qi believed in Buddhism, and Emperor Wu of Zhou destroyed Buddhism, so it was annexed by Northern Zhou. Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty believed in Buddhism, and the people were not happy. Wu Zetian believed in Buddhism, and the national strength of the Tang Dynasty was not as good as a year by year, and there were many troubles on the side. It's a pity that Emperor Wu of Tang only succeeded to the throne for a few years, and the death of the Tang Dynasty has been revealed. At the time of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, the Southern Tang Dynasty believed in Buddhism, and Zhou Shizong destroyed the Buddha, so the Southern Tang Dynasty was destroyed. Not only China, but also Tianzhu, there is not even a unified civilization. This is Buddhism, and this is the benefits that you monks bring to the country and to the people. ”

It cannot be said that there are many reasons for the rise and fall of these dynasties, and Buddhism plays a small role in them. But it can't be said that it is unreasonable, when every generation of countries is prosperous, there are one or several generations of wise and martial people, and these people will never sit idly by and watch Buddhism overflow, so there are many incidents of Buddha extermination.

Almost all the monks' faces changed.

Zheng Lang said that he said, Guan Jian's words spread to Tokyo City, how would the emperor and the prime ministers feel after hearing it!
