Chapter 619: Drinking Horse Beihai (Part I)
The sun was setting, night was falling on the battlefield, which had been roaring all day, and at 20 o'clock in the evening, the Soviets began shelling again, and they wanted to attack the area north of Tomsk again in the form of night battles. When the Soviet artillery bombardment was carried out for half an hour, the artillery school firing planes that had already taken off from the Chinese Defense Forces had completely mastered the Soviet artillery positions, and then the independent heavy artillery brigade of the 53rd Army and the powerful artillery units of the 43rd Heavy Artillery Division directly under the theater began to counterattack and suppress, including a considerable number of rocket artillery.
Hundreds of artillery pieces of five heavy artillery regiments under the 43rd Heavy Artillery Division concentrated their superior firepower to bombard more than 20 artillery positions of the Soviet 6th Tank Group Artillery Division one by one with the advantage of firing range. The Soviet artillery, which had just reacted, immediately carried out an evacuation, but still half of the long-range strike artillery force was destroyed.
At this time, the tank units of the Soviet army were again dispatched, and a tank division and a fully equipped motorized division formed a new round of offensive forces. After suppressing the Soviet artillery fire, the artillery of the Chinese Defense Forces hurriedly concentrated the artillery fire on the heads of the charging Soviet attacking troops.
At this time, the anti-chemical warfare troops disregarded their own safety and fired flares as close to the front line as possible, and the Air Force's Warhawk-3 also flew at night again and dropped a large number of flares. Under the guidance of bright flares, the long-range artillery firepower of the 43rd Artillery Division and the Independent Heavy Artillery Brigade happened to be able to exert itself excellently, giving the Soviet troops a large amount of casualties.
At the same time, on the offensive front, the 531st and 532nd Panzer Divisions once again launched a counteroffensive charge with more than half of the losses of the division, and the divisions belonged to the fighters of the mechanized infantry regiment. Sitting on armored personnel carriers, using anti-tank grenades, anti-tank rifles, and anti-tank rocket launchers to attack Soviet tanks in a flexible manner, while self-propelled artillery units were also engaged in battle, they were arranged in loose formations, trying to use the advantage of range to shoot Soviet armored vehicles from a long distance, and their actions strongly supported the actions of tank troops.
Suddenly, the battlefield was chaotic, with the sound of artillery fire, metal collision, and shouting of killing, which was a symphony belonging to the armored troops. Until 22 o'clock in the evening, the curtain came down again on the two-hour battle. The charging Soviet three tank regiments, one motorized infantry regiment and three infantry regiments soon left behind the wreckage of hundreds of tanks and thousands of corpses and fled.
The Chinese National Defense Forces also suffered a lot of losses. The 531st Panzer Division also lost nearly thirty Chinese King Tiger tanks, and the 532nd Panzer Division was slightly better, losing a dozen tanks.
In the daytime battles, three mechanized armored infantry divisions also suffered considerable losses. Now the most complete troops are the 43rd Heavy Artillery Division and the Mobile Armored Division. The battle of one day and one night caused the old unit of the 53rd Army to lose almost 500 tanks. Of course. The Soviets will not be much better.
This is the largest number of losses that China has suffered in a single battle since World War II. attribution to its causes. There are a lot of them. The Northwest Theater did not have the support of the Praetorian Army's Apocalypse Tanks and Rhino Tanks like the Northeast Theater. The King Tiger tank and the Leopard tank developed and produced by China itself are still used.
In the battle for the Northeast, the Allies had no way to take the Apocalypse and the Rhinoceros, and their anti-tank means could not penetrate the armor of the Apocalypse and the Rhinoceros at all. But the King Tiger is not the same as the Leopard tank, especially the Leopard tank, which is only a medium tank, and its performance is only slightly higher than that of the Soviet T-34/85, and its armor is not effective at all to protect itself.
Even the King Tiger tank had its main armor unable to withstand the continuous attacks of the Soviet T-34/85. In addition, the Soviet Union's huge crowd tactics, even if the Chinese tank troops were accompanied by a large number of infantry, those Soviet anti-tank troops still posed a great threat to the King Tiger tank.
The most important point is that there are not many helicopters in the North-Western Theater of Operations, especially combat helicopters, which simply cannot meet the actions of one or two million troops in the entire theater of operations. Even the army's fighter unit could not be 100% satisfied, and the confrontation of millions of troops spanning hundreds of kilometers was not satisfied.
At this time, in the city of Tomsk, the situation was slightly better. The 16th Army of the Soviet Army now has one division left at full capacity, while the 52nd Army, which has just taken over the offensive task, basically does not have much loss, and there are still three quite powerful infantry divisions and one artillery division, but it does not mean that it can be dragged slowly.
The command of the Fifth Army gave a death order, and if Tomsk could not be captured within two days, the commander of the 52nd Army would be sent to a military court. So in the early morning of the next day, the battle in and out of Tomsk began at the same time.
Before the attack, Bagramian secretly moved the forces of two artillery divisions (including the artillery regiment of the infantry unit and the reinforced self-propelled artillery regiment and towed artillery division) to the northwestern side of Tomsk, which was closer to the previously detected Imperial artillery and had been included in the firing range, which was preceded by a heavy artillery fire as usual.
However, the Chinese artillery was not slow to react, and immediately after the shelling began, they shifted their positions, and immediately after the shelling was completed, they withdrew from their concealed positions and entered new firing positions to stand by. As soon as the Soviet artillery was transferred and a new artillery position was constructed, the coordinates were reported back by the reconnaissance aircraft unit of the Chinese Air Force.
As a result, another round of artillery fire began in the concentration of the Chinese Wehrmacht, a number of new artillery positions of the Soviet troops were completely destroyed, and the remaining artillery was immediately transferred and retreated.
At the same time as the long-range artillery of the artillery division was suppressed by the Soviet artillery, another round of the Soviet offensive began. More than 500 tanks and tens of thousands of soldiers of the Soviet armored units, which had been reinforced, began a cluster charge, and there was no Chinese artillery to intercept the blow of artillery fire, so that the losses of the Soviet troops in this charge were much smaller.
Although the weapons and equipment of the Northwest Theater are the most backward compared with the weapons and equipment of the Southeast Asian Theater and the Northeast Theater, it is only relatively speaking, the anti-tank guns on the positions of several infantry divisions of the 52nd Army have excellent performance and can penetrate the frontal armor of Soviet light tanks at a distance of thousands of meters.
In particular, the 57-mm anti-tank guns deployed in the front of the artillery division, each gun spewed flames at a rate of almost 12 shells per minute, plus individual anti-tank rocket launchers hidden in the trenches, and anti-tank mines that were detonated from time to time. More than two dozen Soviet tanks with the head in the head were destroyed.
However, the Soviet heavy tanks behind pressed up one after another, and when they were about to reach the position, the 82-mm recoilless guns and 40-mm individual anti-tank rocket launchers equipped by the mechanized infantry also began to fire, destroying the Soviet T-34 tanks in front of the position, but more T-34 and KV-1 rushed up under the cover of armored vehicles.
The long-range rocket artillery of the artillery division has almost become the "guardian angel" of the defense line, and the 122-mm and 130-mm rocket artillery shells are pouring incessantly. The Soviet infantry following behind the tank was suddenly exposed to rocket fire, and the Soviet soldiers who rushed in front quickly fell in large pieces, and the rest immediately lay on the ground.
Another tank regiment came up, and nearly 100 Soviet tanks lined up in a dense formation in an attempt to break through this small opening. As soon as a large number of Soviet tanks rushed past the Soviet soldiers lying on the ground, the Soviet soldiers who were encouraged by the tanks also got up. Charge behind the tank.
But at this time. The tank brigade of the 521st Division, which was defending the position, also arrived in time and rushed out. The main gun of the Chinese King Tiger main battle tank is powerful, and about 200 tanks of the fully equipped heavy tank brigade maneuvered at high speed in front of the position, destroying one Soviet tank after another with the powerful firepower of the 125 mm tank gun, which was the Soviet heavy tank KV-1. Under the main gun of the King Tiger tank. It's no different from papier-mΓ’chΓ©.
Evaluate the quality of a tank. There are three things that are constant, firepower, armor, and mobility. Tanks on the Soviet side, the main thing was the pursuit of firepower and maneuverability. Finally, there is protection. The Chinese are similar, with firepower at the forefront, maneuver second, and protection last.
Although the two countries have similar concepts, the gap in the level of science and technology makes these two identical concepts appear one-sided. Even if the Chinese Tiger King is not as invincible as the Apocalypse Tank and the Rhino against the Soviet tank, there is no problem at all for a Tiger King to kill seven or eight T-34/85s of the other party.
In addition to protection, there is also a very important observation and sighting system, compared to the very backward King Tiger observation and sighting system of Apocalypse and Rhinoceros, the King Tiger tank cannot achieve aiming and shooting under maneuver. But compared with the Soviet Union's shooting and aiming devices that rely solely on experience, the aiming system on the Tiger King has been a whole generation higher.
Therefore, before the two sides were close, the King Tiger tank, which appeared in the distance, began to carry out long-distance artillery bombardment of the Soviet tank troops. And the Soviet tank could only helplessly look at the small black dot in the distance, unable to do anything.
The starting shooting percentage is not very high, at about 1,500 meters, it is enough to be able to hit half of the shots. In one round of shooting, nearly twenty Soviet tanks were directly blown up, and the drivers inside did not even have a chance to escape.
However, with the speed of the advance of both sides, the tanks of the two armies began to shorten the distance.
When the commanders of both sides could clearly see each other's tanks, the tank confrontation had just begun. Although the Soviet tanks suffered a great loss at long distances, as long as the distance was shortened, and the mobility of the Soviet tanks was not weak, especially the T-34/85, which was commonly equipped by the Soviet division, its mobility was really good.
The Chinese tanks also suffered a lot of losses, and later they relied on the Air Force to dispatch a squadron of Warhawk-3s to reimburse the Soviet tanks a lot. After an hour and a half of tank "fighting," at 10 o'clock in the morning, although the Soviet tanks were completely annihilated, the Chinese side also lost nearly 30 tanks, which was one-sixth of the strength of the armored brigade.
However, the offensive was not over, and the two sides were now red-eyed, and the remaining nearly 200 artillery pieces of the two heavy artillery regiments near the Soviet offensive positions began to shell the Chinese positions, which also caused some trouble to the armored brigades.
At 1 o'clock in the afternoon, the news came that the center of Tomsk had been attacked by the 511 Infantry Division, and then the commander of the 51 Army began to take advantage of the victory to pursue and organize the three tank regiments directly under the 512 Division, the 513 Division, and the three divisions directly under the Heavy Artillery Division. These more than 200 tanks were formed into a condensed tank division, and then rushed straight north of Tomsk. Their arrival allowed the troops of the 511th Division to consolidate their defensive lines, and the holding of the 511th Division created the conditions for the troops of the other four divisions to occupy Tomsk.
On April 16, a division of the Soviet 16th Army withdrew from Tomsk, and the Soviet 6th Tank Group (at this time only more than 400 tanks, armored vehicles, and self-propelled guns remained) stopped advancing towards Tomsk and further adjusted its deployment. Such an impractical scenario as the recapture of Tomsk was turned into preventing the enemy from entering the Novosibirsk region.
The sudden change in the combat operations of the Soviet army had a great deal to do with the new commander of the Soviet Eastern Front, who was the new Soviet General and commander-in-chief of the Eastern Front of the Soviet Army -- Konev. He gave Baghramyan's troops another reinforcement of an artillery division and a tank division, and at the same time threw into battle the 11th tank group of Soviet troops deployed in the Ural Military District on the frontal battlefield. Although the number of tanks in this army was not as large as that of the 6th tank group, the establishment of 2 tank divisions and an independent tank brigade still allowed it to have 1,500 tanks, armored vehicles and self-propelled guns, which made the Soviet army once again have nearly 2,000 tanks and self-propelled guns.
At this time, the armored forces of the 51st Army and the 52nd Army were only more than 800 vehicles, and the 53rd Army was caught in the last battles of Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk, and Abakan.
A new round of fighting began on the 18th. It was 3 a.m. that day. Before dawn, units of the 11th Tank Group appeared north of Tomsk. In addition to the more than 500 tanks on the front of the battlefield, the remaining more than 800 tanks and self-propelled guns ran over the dense forest and climbed the mountain. With a great frontal width, they pounced on the positions defended by the 51st Army. The reconnaissance aircraft unit of the Air Force after the ground forces reported "a loud roar." A reconnaissance aircraft brigade took off. These had thousands of flight hours of reconnaissance pilots spotting Soviet tank units. Such a number of Soviet tanks really surprised the Chinese army, they did not expect the enemy to organize such an attack.
The 511th Panzer Division, the 512th Panzer Division, and the Mobile Panzer Division directly under the theater of operations advanced in three directions along the predetermined outflanking route, but due to the large number of Soviet tanks. The offensive formation was also very wide, which happened to include the route of the mobile armored division directly under the theater in the center. As a result, the two sides soon engaged in an encounter, and the tanks of the mobile armored division directly under the theater of operations took advantage of the long range of the main guns and opened fire first at a distance of 1,000 meters. The shiny muzzles of the two sides exposed the formations of the two sides, and they were soon chaotic. In close tank battles, the superiority in armor is not obvious, but the superiority in numbers can be brought into full play.
The tank battle, which lasted for nearly three hours, ended at 7 a.m., when the first round of battles ended, and then in the afternoon, when the second round of battles continued into the evening, when the battle finally ended. Only more than 500 tanks and armored combat vehicles remained in the three armored divisions of the 511th Army and the 512th Army, and all the rest were destroyed, with a battle loss rate of more than 20%.
But the Soviet army's 11 tank cluster also suffered heavy losses, and more than 800 tanks were destroyed by the Chinese army. The losses were huge, but the losses of the 511th Army and the 512th Army were exchanged for great progress in the south, and the breakthrough was just around the corner.
On the 20th, on the highway northeast of Tomsk.
A small reconnaissance plane was flying at an ultra-low altitude, and underneath this plane were heavy tanks on the road and puffs of smoke and dust rolling up behind each tank. Viewed from the air, these tanks were extremely numerous and orderly, one after the other drove from east to west, and behind the tanks there were an even larger number of wheeled vehicles, half-tracked vehicles, and artillery, roughly estimated to be in the thousands.
"I said pilot, can you fly lower," a young general with the rank of general on his shoulder, wearing goggles, said to the pilot next to him, "I want to say hello to my tankmen, haha!" β
"Comrade Commander, I'm afraid there is no way for me to do ......it," the pilot shrugged his shoulders in embarrassment, "my task is to get you safely to the headquarters, not to take risks...... You know, we're flying low enough now......"
"Ahh The young lieutenant general disagreed, "What the hell, flying so high, I can't even see what they look like, then go down, land, I'm a tanker now, not the original, I should go to the tank, not here......"
"Chief......" The pilot wanted to say something, but as soon as he met the impatient gaze of the young general, he compromised, "Okay, you sit tight, we will land right away......"
"What does he want to do?" Major General Wang Wenwei, commander of the Mobile Armored Division directly under the Northwest Theater Theater, said to Senior Colonel Wei Shicheng, chief of staff of the division beside him, "Come down to inspect?" Could it be that looking at my five brigades from above is not enjoyable? β
"It's hard to say, our new boss is a master who is not easy to mess with," Wei Shicheng shook his head. After the outbreak of war. In order to adapt to the new mechanized armored operations, in accordance with Chen Gengpeng's five-group division system, the whole army has set up a number of heavy armored mechanized divisions in various group armies, and each division has five heavy brigades under its jurisdiction.
The newly formed armored division is numbered from the 300th Division to the rear, of which, as the Northwest Theater with the largest number of troops, it has five such heavy independent divisions, that is, the 205th Division -- a mobile division directly under the theater, and the rest of the troops are still being formed in order to meet the needs of operations on the middle line. The 205th Division had been redeployed to the Fifth Army the other day. Now they all belong to the Fifth Army and are moving rapidly towards Tomsk.
"Leave him alone, let's see what he has to say......" Wang Wenwei's right hand waved, "drive." Drive to where the plane landed! The driver agreed. All of a sudden, more than a dozen jeeps drove away from the entire division headquarters.
This small reconnaissance aircraft can seat only two people. The flight was very agile and easy to land, and I saw that the plane landed with a light movement. A young and handsome lieutenant general walked down. He is said to be young because he is only in his early thirties this year, but he is already a Chinese brave general who has made many achievements.
Because he once commanded a mechanized infantry regiment in the Marine Corps, and was especially proficient in the long-distance attack tactics of special forces, he served as the commander of the 53rd Army a month ago. At this time, he had six heavy divisions in his hands, with a total of nearly 150,000 strong troops, which was almost comparable to the size of a group army in peacetime.
"Commander!" Wang Wenwei and Wei Shicheng ran over to stand up and salute the lieutenant general, who was not a few years older than him, and reported.
"You two have worked hard!" Dai Anlan also raised his hand to return the salute, "I just looked at the overall situation of the 205th Division, and I have to admire the two of them for managing the army well!" It deserves to be the ace armored unit in the theater of operations. β
"Where, where," Wang Wenwei felt that this army commander did not have any arrogance, "We have been assigned to the 53rd Army this time to work together to fight this battle, and we have already expressed our determination at the combat meeting the day before yesterday." β
"Good!" Dai Anlan looked at the jeeps that drove over from another team, it should be from the army headquarters, "Two, the Tomsk front line is very tense, the 531st Army and the 532nd Army have lost a lot of tanks now, the situation is a little grim, tomorrow the 205th Division must arrive at the designated position, the speed of advance can be a little faster, in the early morning of the day after tomorrow, you will launch an attack together with the 533rd Armored Division and the 534th Mechanized Infantry Division, you can't delay any longer, you must attack in the early morning of the day after tomorrow!" β
"Commander, we have traveled thousands of kilometers long distances, if we only have a rest time from tomorrow afternoon to evening," Wei Shicheng looked embarrassed, "Isn't it too short, I think it's ......"
"Chief of Staff Wei, then speed up the advance," Dai Anlan raised his hand, "Strive to arrive at the designated position tomorrow morning, and buy ten hours of rest and recuperation for the troops, but the offensive time must not be postponed, at 6 o'clock in the morning on April 22, not one minute late!" β
"Yes!" Seeing that Dai Anlan had already said so clearly, it was difficult for the two of them to say anything more.
Dai Anlan smiled with satisfaction and said, "Don't worry! This time I brought a very good piece of news, the first Rhino tank unit in our theater of operations is already on the way behind, and when you rest and recuperate, they will also arrive on time, and when the time comes, you will be the real ace armored troops in the theater. Because this Rhino tank unit will be incorporated into your command structure. It won't be long before the mobile armored division will become a mobile armored corps. β
After Dai Anlan finished speaking, he ignored the two people with excited faces, strode towards the off-road jeep that had stopped in front of him, and then drove towards another unit, the 533rd Armored Division, dozens of kilometers away.
On April 23, the final stage of the Battle of Tomsk, the counteroffensive of the Chinese Defense Forces, finally arrived. At 6 a.m. on the same day, the Air Force's Northwest Theater Aviation Group dispatched a powerful air force to support nearly 2,000 Djinn bombers and Warhawk-3 bombers in a mixed formation to strike at the Soviet troops in a vast area east of Novosibirsk and west of Tomsk.
On the ground, the 531st Heavy Armored Division, the 534th Heavy Mechanized Armored Infantry Division, and the 205th Mobile Division under the 53rd Army formed a powerful assault force to carry out a large-scale roundabout encirclement from the north.
On the southern front, more than 800 tanks and armored fighting vehicles of the 51st and 52nd armies were all concentrated and divided into two assault fronts, with the 514th Heavy Mechanized Infantry Division and the 524th Heavy Mechanized Infantry Division supporting the two armies respectively.
The two most complete artillery divisions retained by the 51st Army and the 52nd Army, together with the artillery divisions of the 53rd Army, formed another huge artillery cluster in the Northwest Theater of the Chinese National Defense Forces. Served as an artillery support mission for the entire counterattack operation.
At this time, the commander of the 6th tank group, Baglamyan, and the commander of the 11th tank group, Rybalko, who were on the defensive, did not react at all at this time. The battlefield that had been silent for a week was suddenly changing at this time, and for a week, the Soviet army and the Chinese Defense Forces were engaged in a tug-of-war, and both sides felt exhausted, and at this time whoever had the strength to eat all the other.
The southern front, represented by the total annihilation of the 37th Army in Novokuznetsk, fell into a full-scale crisis, and Novosibirsk was now in danger, and the commander-in-chief of the Eastern Front of the Soviet Army, Konev, and the chief of staff and commander of the Siberian Military District, Vatutin, could not withdraw troops at all at this time. Everything had to be solved by the two lieutenant generals using the power in their hands.
The 53rd Army, which had been serving as an offensive in Kemerovo, finally withdrew at this time, because the 53rd Army had already taken on the task of attacking on the 52nd flank.
The right flank of the 51st Army at this time switched to a counteroffensive. Assault on the southern flank of the 11th Soviet tank group. Efforts were made to occupy the Tomsk-Novosibirsk railway line. The Soviets tried to delay the offensive, and Vatutin hastily transferred two divisions from the 38th Army in other parts of the front to the threatened direction, and the commander of the 38th Army, Lieutenant General Moskalenko, took on the task of establishing a new line of defense in Novosibirsk.
This day was also regarded by Chen Gengpeng, the commander of the theater, as a day of turning significance in the counteroffensive operation.
On 23 April, the 51st Army, which had been replenished from the rear, returned to combat with the 52nd Army. At this time, the Chinese Defense Forces had concentrated the 51st Army, the 52nd Army, the 53rd Army and the 205th Mobile Armored Division that had joined the Rhino Tank Squadron. In the face of the Soviet Army, the tanks of the Chinese Wehrmacht had already reached a 1: 3 advantage. The infantry advantage has reached 1:2, the artillery advantage has also reached 1:1, and the final counterattack has entered the most critical moment. At the same time, the Soviet army was also mobilizing troops.
On April 24, a tank Armageddon broke out again with 3,500 tanks from the 6th Tank Group, the 11th Tank Group, and some units of the 38th Army of the Soviet Army, together with 1,200 tanks of the 12th Mechanized Corps of the Military Region, and 1,200 tanks of the Chinese National Defense Forces.
In the morning, the 53rd Army of the Chinese Defense Forces was the first to attack, and the 12th Mechanized Corps of the Soviet Army counterattacked with all its might.
The divisional artillery of the three mechanized infantry divisions and two armored divisions of the 53rd Army, as well as the artillery divisions of the 53rd Army, a total of more than 1,000 artillery pieces of various types, began to cover the Soviet charging formation. After 10 minutes of rapid firing, more than 20,000 shells were fired into the Soviet tank formation, and at the same time, the aviation also rushed to the battlefield, and the two Warhawk-3 groups flew at an ultra-low altitude and fired one anti-tank rocket after another, and the gorgeous flowers of death continued to bloom in the Soviet tank cluster.
Of course, the rocket artillery of the Soviet army also caused a lot of trouble to the artillery units of the Chinese Defense Forces, but the artillery units of the Soviet Union, under China's air supremacy, lost nearly half of the artillery, except for those Katyusha rocket launchers that could quickly maneuver and hide, those heavy artillery basically did not even have a chance to escape.
Without artillery fire, the tank units of both sides finally collided.
To the east of Novosibirsk is the upper reaches of the Ob River, and the open terrain on the banks of the river is very suitable for tank battles, and in the face of the rapid attack of Soviet troops, the tank group of the 53rd Army fought and retreated, always maintaining a distance of nearly a thousand meters.
At such a distance, none of the Soviet tanks could penetrate the frontal armor of the 53rd Army's newly reequipped Chinese King Tiger main battle tank in Inner Mongolia, while the newly reequipped 125mm smoothbore tank gun on the Chinese King Tiger main battle tank could easily penetrate the armor of Soviet tanks.
The battle was very fierce, and a large number of Soviet T-34/85 tanks took advantage of the great advantage of speed to quickly penetrate into the tank group of the Chinese Wehrmacht in just over 10 minutes, and then maneuvered and flexibly attacked the weak rear armor and flank armor of the Wehrmacht tanks.
However, the Soviet tanks encountered their lingering nightmare, and the sudden appearance of the Rhino quickly broke the balance and quickly broke the confidence of the Soviet armored forces.
In one morning, the Soviet Union lost nearly 1,000 tanks, and eighty percent of these nearly 1,000 tanks are still the pride of the Soviet Union, the T-34/85. By noon, the Soviet tanks, which were gradually losing ground, set off smoke screens and fled the battlefield, and the most powerful 531st Panzer Division and 205th Mobile Panzer Division also pursued them.
In the afternoon, the 514th Mechanized Infantry Division of the 51st Army, which had already maneuvered to the flank of the 12th Mechanized Army of the Soviet Union, used divisional artillery to intercept and strike at Soviet tanks, while more than 100 Chinese King Tiger tanks of the division's tank regiment also attacked the outermost Soviet tanks.
The largest number of tracked and wheeled infantry fighting vehicles in the infantry division quickly inserted into the Soviet tank division with their own speed, separating the tanks and infantry of the 12th Mechanized Corps of the Soviet Army. The battle continued into the evening, and the 12 mechanized corps of the Soviet army was almost completely annihilated, on the contrary, the losses of the Chinese side were not much.
On the morning of 25 April, the 51st and 52nd armies, after heavy artillery fire and aviation fire preparations, began a counteroffensive in the direction southwest of Tomsk - northeast of Novosibirsk.
At the same time, the 53rd Army carried out a division assault. By the afternoon of the same day, the mobile armored mechanized division directly under the 51st Army and the armored division of the 52nd Army broke through the defending Soviet 6th tank group.
At this point, the defensive positions of the Soviet troops in Novosibirsk had been fully broken through by the Chinese Wehrmacht. (To be continued......)
