Chapter 109: Marines

At the beginning of February 40, the second batch of recruits of the Navy's anti-Japanese army completed their training and were transferred to a three-month training in individual weapons. In this period, 2,000 people passed the training assessment. And more than 3,000 people are participating in recruit training.

The 2,000 men immediately relieved the manpower tension in the various units. Among them, 200 were included in the submarine force and were pulled by Quan Yonghai for intensive training. Sixty of them entered the Air Force, and they were also started with basic training by Yuan Yin and Liu Guobang.

Zheng Xuechang's surface ship force has also been replenished, don't look at Zheng Xuechang's current only four warships, not to mention the planned aircraft carrier, that is, a pickup destroyer that can be launched in two or three months, and one also needs more than 200 people. Therefore, the navy has allocated more than 400 recruits who are familiar with the surname Shui this time.

The remaining 1,300 recruits were assigned to more than 800 artillery units. This brought the number of artillery to an astonishing two thousand, and the infantry is now less than a thousand.

There was a very abnormal situation in the marines of the Naval Resistance Army, that is, the number of artillery was actually more than that of infantry. But even then, artillery was far from enough. Not to mention the various artillery currently available, the artillery that has been continuously built also needs soldiers.

The training cycle of artillery is longer than that of infantry, and Li Guang boasted that he was prepared for a rainy day, and as a result, the distribution of troops was greatly biased in favor of artillery units.

The distribution of new recruits had just ended, and in February, after the staff headquarters had begun to formalize, Li Guang began to build fortifications on Shixiang Island. Li Guang didn't know whether the fortifications designed by these staff officers were really in line with military rules, but they were also carefully designed by the staff headquarters, and they also conducted sand table confrontation exercises with several prisoners of the army.

Not only that, Li Guang has already sent detailed maps and even photos of the islands to China. Ask Chief Li Zongren of the Fifth Theater to help design a defense plan. It is believed that it will soon be brought to Stone Statue Island by merchant ships.

On paper, Li Guang's staff has always been talking on paper. But it is undeniable that these technical officers are improving at a rapid pace. The strength and equipment of the Naval Resistance Army are changing every day, and these staff officers are also adjusting and perfecting the defense plan every day according to the strength of the Naval Resistance Force.

In fact, every adjustment is an examination for these staff officers. Li Guang designed the imaginary enemy at multiple levels, including an attack on the scale of a brigade, a squadron (wing size), a fleet size (division and regiment level), and even a high level of the combined fleet scale. The defensive plan made by the General Staff for this purpose was a thick stack every time.

These staff officers have gone from not even knowing the range of their rifles to now knowing that they have comprehensively considered the comprehensive deployment of naval guns, warplanes, submarines, tanks, and other weapons and personnel, and have recently even added weather, geography, and sea conditions to the defense plan.

The staff department set up by Li Guang already has a small appearance, with only 16 people on the staff, and even more non-staff members. Several captains and lieutenants of the Naval Resistance Force are all supernumerary personnel. The General Staff simply formed a center for wargame deduction.

In addition to the all-scale war games of the land, navy, and air force, the more intense ones are the confrontation exercises between surface ships and submarines. It is referred to as the sword (ship) faction and the assassin (guest) faction.

After the surface ships were launched with a variety of projectile depth charges, the sword faction abused Quan Yonghai a few times. After Quan Yonghai got the German submarine training manual, he created several new tactics of his own, and the victory rate of the assassin faction moved back a lot.

However, after Li Guang proposed the new thing of radar, especially the installation of radar on fighters (the United Kingdom, which now has the most advanced radar technology, does not have it.) )。 The Air Force formed a hawkish faction and also joined the ranks of the exercise confrontation, and the submarine faction was forced to start studying tactics again.

However, whether they admit it or not, the submariners have basically reached a consensus that if the submarine wants to achieve victory, in addition to a sneak attack or a sneak attack, whether it is for merchant ships or warships, this point has gradually become the general operational guideline for the submarine forces of the Maritime Resistance Army. And in this kind of confrontation, the tactical level of submarine and anti-submarine warfare of the Maritime Resistance Army is rapidly improving.

On 1 March, after more than half a month of deliberation and planning, the Marine Corps of the Naval Resistance Force had a formal establishment for the first time.

The Marine Corps was organized into thirteen companies. One of the anti-aircraft artillery companies was used as a reserve for the navy. Since then, the Marine Corps structure of the Naval Resistance Army has been adjusted many times, but it has formed an indissoluble bond with the number of thirteen.

However, the current 13 companies have different numbers. It can only be replenished after the next recruit completes training.

There are a total of thirteen veterans of the Marine Corps who have returned from the battlefield on the first two occasions, among which Qin Zhan, the commander of the armored company, is also counted as one. And there are thirty veterans who have just returned from Hainan. These forty-three people were appointed by Li Guang as company commanders and platoon commanders in the Marine Corps.

Of these thirteen companies, the current company commanders and platoon commanders are all acting, not full-time. This is the standard set by Li Guang, and only meritorious service can be promoted.

There were five infantry companies, each of which had four platoons and sixteen squads. Fifteen students per class.

This company-level configuration is much larger than the normal configuration of the Chinese army. The number of attached personnel such as clerical correspondents reached 250. More than the number of a squadron of the army. This is also Li Guang's guiding ideology, whether it is the number of people or firepower, the level of squads, platoons, and companies must surpass the squads, squads, and squadrons of the army.

At the squad level, the firepower in addition to the rifle light machine gun has a 60mm mortar.

At the platoon level, there are three infantry squads and one heavy fire squad with two heavy machine guns and two 82mm mortars.

At the company level, there were three infantry platoons and one heavy fire platoon, which had two 100mm heavy mortars and two 92 infantry guns.

With the exception of the five infantry companies, the remaining eight companies were all artillery companies.

Two heavy mortar batteries, armed with sixteen 100mm mortars and 120mm mortars.

Two infantry artillery batteries - each equipped with twelve 75mm infantry guns,

A 152mm heavy artillery battery - sixteen heavy guns,

For the time being, the two anti-aircraft artillery batteries are equipped with only two 88-mm anti-aircraft guns, two German-made 37mm twin anti-aircraft guns, and two 20mm twin anti-aircraft guns. (salvaged from the Count Spee)

An armored company - six 122mm assault guns and six 88mm tank destroyers.

All this is now just a skeleton, not only the troops are insufficient, but even the equipment is not complete. For example, in the armored company, six 122mm assault guns are fully equipped, and six 88mm tank destroyers are now only two. The anti-aircraft guns in the naval resistance army have not yet been successfully manufactured, and the original 88mm anti-aircraft guns are occupied by the navy. Even these two doors are also pickup numbers to be modified and grabbed in hand.

The other units were well armed, but they were seriously understaffed, and some companies had only thirty or forty men. If these thirteen companies are fully equipped, they can only get May and June.

These thirteen companies, so far have not begun the third stage - a three-month basic tactical training of squads, platoons, and companies.

Basic tactical training, but it took Li Guanghao a lot of thought. First of all, the offensive and defensive operations of the island were arranged to the first step. For this purpose, Li Guang specially built four landing craft.

The shape of this landing craft is still provided by Li Guang (a pirated landing craft in the Normandy landings), which was designed by Lippmann's team. The landing craft used a 400-horsepower diesel engine, and its size and displacement were two, the smaller one was capable of carrying a Tiger tank, and a squad of fighters. The large one is capable of carrying two Tiger tanks and a platoon of fighters.

Mountain warfare is the top priority of infantry training, and on the three hills of Shixiang Island, there are two companies on each mountain every day conducting offensive and defensive drills.

The artillerymen trained now by the three artillery instructors are also very targeted. Half of the training of the heavy artillery company was in the batteries in the mountains. In order to make the defense of the statue more solid, six caves were dug into the three mountains at the three corners of the triangle and six 152mm heavy guns were armed.

According to Li Guang's intentions, he was going to transport all the existing 152mm heavy guns to the mountains, but although these mountains were not big, they were really steep enough, and it was extremely difficult to transport.

The path in the mountain was carved out little by little, and at most it was to transport mortars and heavy machine guns.

In the process of training, the soldiers were also constantly building fortifications, and seeing that the defense of the stone statue island was improving day by day, Li Guang's anxiety was slightly alleviated. It's not that the fortifications of the island are complete, but he thinks that the island is not very dangerous until the army launches the Pacific War.

But on March 3, '40, that all changed.
