Chapter 440, a great opportunity to do something big
In modern society, there are many people who mistakenly believe that deflation is good for ordinary people. Some people have such a view, in fact, because they have a wrong understanding of China's economy.
Modern China's economic system is not a capitalist economic system in the true sense of the word. Although there is such a tendency in the general trend, so far, because of the existence of state-owned enterprises and because of the country's relatively perfect macroeconomic regulation and control system, China's economy is still a high-level capital operation system that uses the market economy as a means of operation.
The capitalist system itself has its own periodic economic crises that cannot be avoided. In fact, such periodic economic crises do not occur naturally. This economic crisis is artificially created by the capitalist clique that holds the lifeblood of the country's economy under the capitalist relations of production.
To put it in a simpler way, we can look at it in this way: in a factory, for example, there are two groups in this factory, one is the factory owner who owns the means of production, and the other is the worker who does not have any means of production.
The workers produce commodities with their own labor, and the factory owners sell the commodities produced by the workers to the workers, and then give a small part of the proceeds from the sale to the workers as wages. Workers use these wages to buy goods.
In this process, we can see that if the factory owner gives all the proceeds from the sale of the goods to the workers, and the workers buy the goods they produce, the process is a perfect and continuous cycle. But in reality, the factory owners, i.e. the capitalists, would not do this.
The purpose of using the means of production in their possession to organize production is not for charity, but for profit. In this way, after each production, the factory owner will take most of the proceeds from the sale of commodities for himself, and in order to obtain more profit more effectively, he will constantly use various methods to reduce the income of the workers.
In this case, it is very easy to find that the more goods a worker produces, the less he earns, and the less he produces, the less he earns. It has nothing to do with production itself, because of the presence of factory owners, their income is definitely getting less and less.
In this case, no matter how many or few goods the workers produce, the workers' income will continue to decrease, and their purchasing power for the goods will always be on a downward trend.
And if the workers can't buy the goods, they will produce a relative surplus of goods. Here, it is not that there is a real surplus of commodities, but that because of the exploitation of surplus value by the capitalists, the workers have no purchasing power for commodities in the absence of them.
In this case, because of the factory owner's own self-interest orientation, he will of course not increase the purchasing power of the workers, but will reduce the cost of production by dismissing the workers and increasing the amount of labor of the workers.
At this time, the factory owner's actions are actually further undermining the purchasing power of the workers. What the factory owners are doing is actually aggravating the process of crisis.
When this crisis finally erupts with the continuous accumulation of commodity production, the factory owner will generally shut down the factory, and eventually stop the entire production process.
From this process, we can find that the economic crisis is not really caused by the surplus of goods, but by the fact that the capitalist relations of production itself are artificially creating a relative surplus of goods. On the one hand, there are large piles of commodities that are destroyed by the capitalists in order to guarantee the price of the commodities, and on the other hand, there are workers with no purchasing power who are exploited by the capitalists into abject poverty and eventually unemployed.
It was only after seeing clearly the production process under this capitalist production relationship that the old man Ma clearly pointed out that in fact, as long as the capitalists were deprived of possession of the means of production and the workers organized production themselves, the healthy and sustainable development of the commodity production process could be guaranteed.
From this incident, we can draw a conclusion that the economic crisis is actually mainly man-made. It is precisely because of the greed and ignorance of the ruling class, which owns the means of production, that it has led to a devastating economic crisis.
From the perspective of a political regime, whether it can effectively curb the greed and greed of the appropriators of the means of production, that is, the ruling class itself, and balance the relationship between the appropriators of the means of production and the exploited ruled class is the key to the continued existence of this regime.
The reason why modern China has been able to develop steadily under the economic crisis, and why many people feel that the economic crisis of deflation is even beneficial to the common people, is that the rulers can clearly understand how to balance the relationship between the means of production, that is, the possessors of social wealth, and the proletariat who create social wealth, and can adjust the distribution through the state-owned enterprises in their hands.
On the other hand, the Ming Dynasty in the last years of the Ming Dynasty was a typical representative of the distribution of social wealth and the demise of the vested interest groups that controlled the means of production after they completely lost control.
For the feudal agricultural society with backward productive forces, the only means of production was land. Before Zhang Juzheng's reforms, the Ming Dynasty regime was relatively stable when land and grain production could still be controlled and influenced by the Ming government. However, after Zhang Juzheng's reforms, both grain production and the land for grain production were marketized, and land annexation became drastic, which made the Ming Dynasty regime completely lose its ability to control the country's economy.
Drastic land annexation, coupled with increasingly severe natural disasters, caused the Ming Dynasty's national economy to collapse completely.
Unlike in history, because of the existence of the Ba'ath Party, because the Ba'ath Party controlled all the land in Hubei and adopted a strict food control policy, the food crisis in the Ming Dynasty was hundreds of times more serious than in the same period in history. And also because of the strong absorption of silver as a currency by the Baath Party's industrial dumping, the economic crisis of the Ming Dynasty was countless times more serious than the deflation caused by the feudal landlord class's large-scale hoarding of silver in the original history.
Just as in a capitalist society, a severe economic crisis requires the destruction of the productive forces before it can be unleashed and then the national economy can be restarted, so the feudal agrarian society must also undergo a violent destruction of the productive forces and the population before it can be restarted. This is the cyclical law of the rise and fall of feudal dynasties.
There is a saying on the Internet in modern society that if you don't die, you won't die.
In May 1630, the robbery of Zhou Guozhang's grain store in Beijing was suppressed because Zhang Xianzhong led troops to attack Niangzi Pass after capturing various parts of Shanxi.
You must know that a group of tens of thousands of troops suddenly invaded the Beizhili region, which was almost defenseless at that time, and the pressure on the central government of the Ming Dynasty was really huge. After all, as soon as you come out of Niangzi Pass, there is the vast North China Plain. Equipped with a large number of war horses and extremely mobile ability, the army was able to quickly move outside Beijing and attack the city of Beijing, which was only garrisoned by more than 200,000 paper troops of the Beijing camp at that time.
It was at this juncture that Emperor Chongzhen released Yuan Chonghuan, who was in prison, under the persuasion of Wei Zhongxian. And after Yuan Chonghuan was released by Emperor Chongzhen, he relied on his connections to transfer another 50,000 troops from the Liaodong warlords who had always kept a distance from the central government of the Ming Dynasty.
In fact, in terms of combat effectiveness, the combat effectiveness of the Liaodong soldiers, who are completely warlordized and use the family system of soldiers from top to bottom, is not very high.
However, the current head of the Liaodong Army, Zu Dashou, is Yuan Chonghuan's hardcore, and Wu Xiang, the brother-in-law of Zu Dashou who was sent to the Central Plains to command the troops this time, is a person with a very high opportunistic psychology and a high status under Zu Dashou, so Zu Dashou was persuaded by Wu Xiang to follow the orders of the imperial court and send the so-called 50,000 troops to help Yuan Chonghuan.
The battles from mid-1630 to the second half of 1631 had proved that among the current Ming Dynasty government army, the first in combat effectiveness was the Shandong New Army under Sun Yuanhua, followed by the Tianxiong Army under Lu Xiangsheng. And the performance of the Liaodong Army, which has the largest number of people, is the same as their commander Yuan Chonghuan, who is a good player who just talks and does not practice pit teammates to make trouble. They have the most defeats on frontal combat.
But even so, because Emperor Chongzhen did not kill the eunuchs and left Wei Zhongxian in the center, the Donglin Party members, who were completely disappointed in Emperor Chongzhen, were connected with Yuan Chonghuan, who had already disagreed with the imperial court, and arranged the Liaodong Army, which had the worst combat ability but was very good at making a mutiny, around the Beijing Division.
Yuan Chonghuan regarded the 50,000 Liaodong soldiers as his life talisman and used the 50,000 Liaodong troops to deter the imperial court, but the Donglin Party thought further, they wanted to use the 50,000 Liaodong troops to make a clear side and "make a big news".
In this way, at the end of 1631, a big news really appeared in the city of Beijing. The 50,000 Liaodong troops stationed outside Beijing suddenly killed the Liaodong Army's eunuchs on the grounds that they had abused the soldiers, and rushed into Beijing to make a loud noise.
Regarding Sun Chengzong, who came to appease, the Liaodong Army said that if the imperial court could not eradicate the eunuch party, especially Wei Zhongxian, the leader of the eunuch party, they would definitely not be quiet.
Emperor Chongzhen, who has been in power for a few years, is no longer a pure Wenqing 205, of course he understands what the problem is. Wei Zhongxian's opponent is the Donglin Party in the court, Yuan Chonghuan, who controls the Liaodong Army, is also a Donglin Party, and Sun Chengzong, who came forward to appease the Liaodong Army, is also a Donglin Party.
Emperor Chongzhen, who has been on the throne for four years, has now figured out a problem, that is, if there is no eunuch party, especially Wei Zhongxian, the nominal head of the eunuch party, in the court, the civilian bureaucracy that has infiltrated all corners of the Ming regime will definitely completely empty itself. Once he really killed Wei Zhongxian and purged the eunuchs, he would become a puppet of the civilian bureaucracy, just like Emperor Muzong Longqing back then.
Emperor Chongzhen, who has the blood of Emperor Jiajing and Emperor Wanli, certainly doesn't want to be such a puppet. And more importantly, according to Zhu Youzhen's own opinion, the Ming Dynasty has reached the time of the current crisis, once it becomes a puppet like Emperor Longqing, once the Donglin Party is allowed to take power, the Ming Dynasty will fall into a dangerous situation.
But on the other hand, Zhu Youzhen, who is familiar with the story of the inner court, also knows very well how black the hearts of the Donglin Party are. You must know that behind the Wanli Dynasty's attack case, the Taichang Dynasty's Red Pill case and the palace removal case, there are all Donglin Party members. In order to ensure the interests of the Donglin Party group, they did not hesitate to kill Zhu Youzhen's father.
So in this case, after more than a month of struggle and entanglement, the incident finally ended with Wei Zhongxian being imprisoned in prison.
The initial goal of the Donglin Party was achieved, so a military disaster was passed without danger.
But Wei Zhongxian's detention led to a serious problem. was originally suppressed by Wei Zhongxian, but also because of the outbreak of the Jingshi crisis, Cao Huachun, as the master of ceremonies, did not make a big deal about the robbery of Zhou Guozhang's grain store.
Now that Wei Zhongxian is imprisoned, and the power of the ceremonial eunuch is completely controlled by the eunuchs who are close to Emperor Chongzhen, in order to win the trust of Emperor Chongzhen, Cao Huachun has taken a step forward in the ceremonial eunuch, and is ready to deal with Zhou Guozhang's grain business case well.
In this way, a group of wolf-like Dongchang fans and Jinyi guards once again appeared in the slums of Nancheng, where they had eaten up their rations and ushered in an existential crisis again.
I can't help but say that Cao Huachun chose a very bad time. If spies were sent to interrogate and investigate the slums of Nancheng at the beginning of the grain robbery, in order to keep the grain that had already arrived, it was still possible for these military households to betray Song Gouzi and others. But more than a year has passed, and the original food has long been eaten, and the only hope for the military households in Nancheng, who are ushering in the crisis again, is Song Gouzi. At this time, no matter how much Dongchang and Jinyiwei tortured * to confess, it was impossible for the people of Nancheng who took Song Gouzi as their only hope to confess Song Gouzi.
What's more, the current identity of Song Gouzi has also changed. In the past, Song Gouzi was at most a successful "social person" in Beijing. However, after the crisis of the capital division in 1630 and 1631, especially after the active contact with the heroes of the three mountains and five mountains organized by the intruding army, Song Gouzi's mentality has changed dramatically.
If in the past, he was just for morality, fame, and everyone's trust and respect, but now Song Gouzi, who has been brainwashed by the "agents" who broke into the army, began to have a little ambition of "the prince and the prince will have a kind of Xiangning".
A hungry populace and an ambitious leader, this is a very dangerous combination.
Song Gouzi, who received the news of Liu Changsheng, suddenly had an idea in his heart when he faced the news that the people of Nancheng were tortured by Fanzi and Jinyiwei:
"Isn't this a great opportunity to do something big?"
