From the Great Right to the Big Hooligans – the corruption known as the "national warriors".
Kodama Yu Shifu is an extremely important figure in Japan after the war.,It will also be one of the villains in the middle of this book.,It's inconvenient to introduce him too much in the text.,You can only put it in the work.,Most of the following content is intercepted from the book "** and Governance of Post-War Japan".,If you're interested, you can take a look.,It's a good professional book.。
The fate of Kakuei Tanaka will not be stated for the time being, but the author would like to give a brief description of another key figure in the Lockheed case, the middleman Yushio Kodama. The author believes that understanding this "right-wing" + "**" figure who has had an important impact on Japanese politics is helpful for us to understand the "potential law" of Japan's political operation after World War II, especially the changes in Japan's right-wing political forces.
The term "national scholar" comes from our country, and it refers to people who are both wise and brave and have outstanding talents in a country. "Warring States Policy? Zhao Ce" has the expression "Zhibo meets the ministers with the countrymen, and the ministers repay the countrymen". In the "Biography of the Marquis of Huaiyin" describing Han Xin, the "Historical Records" also mentions that "the generals are easy to hear, and those who believe in them are unparalleled in the country." Yushi Kodama, who was suspected of acting as a "broker" for bribery and bribery in the Lockheed case, was known as Japan's "national warrior" at that time. On the surface, he is a philanthropic enthusiast, a philosopher, a hater of bureaucracy, and a man who has no desire for money. But in fact, before World War II, Kodama was one of the representatives of Japan's right-wing "action faction", and after World War II, she was the actual controller of many Japanese underworld organizations, the mastermind behind the political and economic circles, and the agent of the US Central Intelligence Agency in Japan, and had a decisive influence on many important Japanese political figures. Ichiro Hatoyama had been funded by him when he founded the Democratic Party, and Nobusuke Kishi was a fellow prisoner of World War II Class A war criminals when he was in the Sugamo Detention Center. The father of the Japanese politician Yohei Kono, who is more familiar to politicians in Chinese, is a powerful member of parliament in the Liberal Democratic Party. He served as the Director of the Administration Agency, the Director of the Economic Planning Agency, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Minister of Construction, and was considered a strong candidate for prime minister in the early 60s of the 20th century. In 1960, Kodama Yu Shifu gave himself a "living funeral", for such an absurd thing, these two people were in the way, and they also ran to the "funeral" in person, and "worshipped" with incense. It is said that the "gentleman" in the famous Japanese writer Haruki Murakami's 1982 novel "The Adventure of Sheep Hunting" was conceived based on Kodama.
To say that in fact, Kodama, who once had the power of both black and white in Japan, was born relatively poor. After the Meiji Restoration, Japan's samurai class lost its privileged position, and in February 1911, Yushi Kodama, who was born into a samurai family in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, was deeply aware of this change in social status. His original surname was Yamada, and he later changed his surname to Kodama with his adoptive father, who was a doctor. As a young man, he was sent to live with a relative on the Korean Peninsula, and Kodama's own sister later married on the Korean Peninsula. Kodama returned to Japan and graduated from the "Kyoto Commercial College" (equivalent to a technical secondary school and vocational and technical school in Japan). After graduating, I worked as a worker for a while. It is debatable whether this "national soldier" Kodama is really wise and brave, but as a representative of the extremely aggressive and aggressive Japanese right-wing "action faction" before World War II, there is no doubt about his worship and preference for violence.
In 1931 (Showa 6), the then Minister of Finance, Junnosuke Inoue, offended the Japanese military by implementing a contractionary fiscal policy and drastically reducing military spending. Public opinion, controlled by right-wing ideology, has overwhelmingly blamed the government of Takeshi Inukai, especially Inoue, the Minister of Finance in charge of the economy, for the difficulties encountered by the Japanese economy and the hardships of the domestic people's lives. The 20-year-old Kodama sent a letter to Junnosuke Inoue with a short knife attached, saying, "Whether this knife is used to protect oneself or to cut one's stomach, please decide freely", implying that you should kill yourself rather than be assassinated by us. Because of this threatening letter, Kodama was sentenced to 5 months in prison. Soon after he was released from prison, Kodama Yushio became entangled with the right-wing organization "Tianxinghui? A group of accomplices of the "Independent YMCA" planned to blow up the power station in Tokyo with explosives, and then take advantage of the darkness to kill the government dignitaries at the time, so as to achieve the goal of the coup. As a result, Kodama was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison after being reported to have escaped and surrounded by police in his hiding place, where he attempted suicide with a pistol and was seriously injured.
Japan during this period was crazy and paranoid. As long as they are branded as "loyal to the emperor" and put on the cloak of "patriotism," all illegal acts such as murder and aggression will be enthusiastically embraced. In March 1932, Junnosuke Inoue, who was threatened by Kodama, was assassinated by the right-wing political group "Blood Alliance", and in May of the same year, Prime Minister Inukai Takeshi was shot dead in his home by 11 young naval noncommissioned officers, including Hiroshi Yamagishi and Takushi Mikami. Not only did the Japanese people not condemn the violence, but they also petitioned for the 11 non-commissioned officers by means of "writing in blood" and "sending fingers", demanding that these "patriotic" youths be given a lighter sentence. Against this backdrop, Kodama's terrorist acts were not condemned, but were regarded as a manifestation of "loyalty to the monarch and patriotism", and in one fell swoop established his position among the right-wing of the "action faction".
After the end of World War II, Kodama did not give up his "faith" in violence. In 1959 (Showa 34), Kodama had agreed with his cellmate Nobusuke Kishi that the latter would hand over the prime ministerial throne to Kodama's "friend" Ono Yomi after his resignation. However, in the LDP presidential election, Kishi actually supported Yuto Ikeda. Enraged, Kodama Yushio sent a former member of the right-wing political group "Taikakai" under his control to attempt to assassinate Nobusuke Kishi at the ceremony to celebrate the inauguration of the new prime minister. After World War II, Kodama Yushio also tried to unify all the triad organizations in Japan in the name of the "East Asian Friendship Association", and the Japanese underworld organization "Yamaguchi-gumi", which often appears in Hong Kong and Taiwan police films, opposed this idea. In fact, the "Zhongxing" of the Yamaguchi-gumi after World War II was inseparable from Kodama's help, so he was angry at the Yamaguchi-gumi for being "ungrateful" and "not listening to greetings". The Yamaguchi-gumi originated from the underground organization of dock workers in the Japanese port city of Kobe, and its first-generation leader, Haruyoshi Yamaguchi, and the second-generation leader, Noboru Yamaguchi, paid great attention to building "personal connections" among law enforcers, and relied on the advantage of having a "protective umbrella" to constantly annex large and small organizations in the port of Kobe and expand their own power. During World War II, the Japanese military ministry adopted a policy of severe repression against underground organizations in the country. In the face of the Japanese military department, the largest "professional underworld," the Yamaguchi-gumi and other "civilian amateur players" all died. By 1943, only about 30 members of the Yamaguchi-gumi remained, and its third-generation leader, Kazuo Taoka, was able to escape thanks to an amnesty at the commemoration of the 2,600th anniversary of the Emperor's Reign. After the end of World War II, most of the Japanese port workers were supporters of the United States and were reluctant to carry supplies for the U.S. military. The U.S. side asked Kodama to find a way to solve this problem. Kodama found Kazuo Taoka, who was the "big brother" in the port of Kobe. In this way, the Yamaguchi-gumi fell on the thick "thigh" of the U.S. military, Japan, and began the so-called "road to prosperity" from monopolizing the right to transport materials in the port of Kobe. It is said that when Kodama Yushio found Kazuo Taoka, there were only more than 30 people under this buddy, and he was completely in the most difficult period of ups and downs, so Kodama Yushio thought that he was kind to the Yamaguchi-gumi.
Returning to Kodama, although his obsession with violence has always been consistent, Kodama has changed a lot before and after World War II - from a militarist fanatic to a de facto triad leader! The infiltration and integration of the "action-oriented" right-wing to the "Renxia" underworld embodied in Kodama actually represents the trend of development and change in Japan's right-wing and underworld society after World War II. After being released from prison in 1936, Kodama joined the right-wing political group "National Elite Popular Party". In 1937, he was appreciated by Tatsuo Kasami, the head of the intelligence department of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and gradually began to get involved in the intelligence work of the Chinese special agent. After the Japanese invasion of Shanghai after the Battle of Songhu, Kodama Yushio was entrusted by the navy to establish a spy intelligence organization in Shanghai, which also became the starting point for him to accumulate wealth and establish contacts throughout Japan's political and economic circles, Takashi Iwakawa, "Japan's Underground Connections", Kobunsha, 1983 edition. In this book, the author argues that the political resource circles with great influence in Japanese politics include "Yasuhiro Nakasone's naval connections", "Kishi's Manchurian connections", and "Kodama Yushio's Shanghai connections". Being able to juxtapose with the power of the two prime ministers shows Kodama's influence...... Kodama, who received support from the Japanese government and the Ministry of the military, was only 27 years old and commanded a secret service organization that could kill and seize Chinese people, the "Kodama Agency". According to an internal report from the U.S. Army Intelligence Department, the Kodama Agency was not only involved in the salt and iron trade in Shanghai at that time, but also forcibly seized mineral resources, farms, and fish farms, and also operated a secret weapons factory. At one point, its wealth reached a staggering $1.7 billion. The Japanese military police also arrested Kodama and imprisoned him for enriching his own pockets too much. However, due to the protection of Vice Admiral Takijiro Onishi, the veteran of the Japanese right-wing at the time and the initiator of the kamikaze, Kodama was quickly released. In 1942, he also ran in the 21st election for members of the House of Representatives in Japan, and ranked 8th among all candidates in Tokyo's 5th ward. Either way, Kodama before World War II was still a standard right-winger of action, and despite her violent and good relationships with certain triad figures, there is no clear evidence that Kodama had begun to infiltrate and control mafia organizations. The Kodama agency he controls is still a regular spy organization with establishment and funds.
After World War II, the US occupation authorities were very active in cracking down on extremist nationalism, destroying the organizations of the right-wing extremist forces of the Japanese "action faction", and making it clear that right-wing politicians who had held public offices in government organs before the war were not allowed to hold any public office. Most right-wing political groups were forcibly disbanded, and for a time there was a tendency to disappear. However, because China and other countries that were victimized by Japanese militarism in World War II did not receive the respect and voice they deserved, Japan's post-war responsibility settlement work was completely influenced by the interests of the United States. After the Showa Denko case, the US occupation authorities were worried that the Japanese Socialist Party, Japan, and other progressive forces would seize power with the help of the labor movement and affect their own great cause of defending communism. Chief of Staff Second Officer, Charles? Andrew? Charles Andrew Willoughby (Charles Andrew Willoughby) is also relatively close to the Japanese right-wing, and the Japanese right-wing political forces that have been hit immediately resurrected and seized the opportunity to raise their heads. In 1952 (Showa 27), the then president of legal affairs, Atsutaro Kimura, proposed in the name of ** that a special fund of 300 million yen should be allocated to establish a "200,000 sword drawing team" loyal to the Japanese right-wing political forces: In the Japanese Southwest War, the Tokyo police who were proficient in Japanese swordsmanship and the old Japanese samurai were composed of troops specially used for close-fitting white-knuckle combat, which was somewhat similar to China's "death squad". ”。 Although this idea was ultimately aborted due to the strong opposition of then Prime Minister Shigeru Yoshida, Kimura and others turned to the power of the "Ren Xia Department" Japanese underworld organization. It is said that in order to obtain the "cooperation" of the underworld, Kimura proposed to the underworld boss that "in the future, as long as it is not an active crime, he will not be punished" in exchange.
Japan's "action" right-wing group and the "Ren Xia system" underworld organization, two things that Chinese may sound like are unrelated, actually have a lot in common: the "action" right-wing encourages individuals to "dare to think and do" and realize the political demands of extreme nationalism through violence, and its logic is very simple and bloody - "Prime Minister Inuyangyi, who doesn't like to support Sun Yat-sen, has no problem, kills the door and cuts down the old man, and then shouts a few long live the emperor, you are the hero of Japan"; The latter, on the other hand, also worshipped the emperor as the supreme spiritual leader of the underworld organization. At the important ceremonies within the "Ren Xia Department" underworld organization, the underworld bosses who are witnesses will always hang a banner with the words "Amaterasu Emperor Okami" on their backs or heads, which means that "Amaterasu Emperor Okami (Emperor)" is the ultimate witness of these religious ceremonies. In favoring the use of violence and advocating the theory of Japanese national superiority, the "Ren Xia system" underworld is even more identical to the "action" right-wing. If there is any difference between the two, it is that the "action" right-wing disdains to do things such as opening casinos and brothels as engaged in some "Ren Xia" underworld organizations, and they seek state power first and wealth second. Generally speaking, the "action" right wing has a relatively more "decent" source of wealth, and there are more political leaders and celebrities in the social circle. The "Ren Xia Department" underworld organizations often have a complex and peculiar respect for right-wing "action factions" like Kodama Yushio, and when there are internal conflicts in the underworld organizations, right-wing bigwigs often appear as mediators. In fact, this was also the basis for the infiltration and integration of the underworld organizations by right-wing political forces after World War II.
After the end of World War II, Kodama was imprisoned by the Americans as a Class A war criminal, and his wealth looted from Shanghai was in danger of being confiscated. However, like Kishi Nobusuke and other Japanese Class-A war criminals, in the face of the United States' refusal to abolish the emperor on the one hand, and its strong impeachment of right-wing political groups on the other, they all changed their faces drastically, and turned to advocate the "Japan-US alliance," claiming that only cooperation with the United States is the way out for Japan in the future, thus showing the utilitarian and realistic nature of the Japanese right-wing in "bullying the weak and fearing the hard." It is said that when she was released from prison, Kodama was already working for the CIA, specializing in helping the Allies seize pre-war Japanese military supplies that had been hidden by others. However, on March 12, 2007, a classified CIA document on Japan that was lifted by the United States had a very low evaluation of Kodama - "she has little ability to gather intelligence, she is a professional liar, and her only interest is to make money."
Kodama Yushio almost perfectly combines the politicized "Ren Xia Department" underworld group with making money. For example, in 1959 (Showa 34), there was a vigorous struggle against the Japan-US Security Treaty in Japan, and in March, 134 progressive social organizations convened a meeting to spontaneously form the "National Assembly to Prevent the Revision of the Japan-US Security Treaty." At that time, almost all left-wing progressive forces in Japan participated. In addition, Japan's right-wing political forces also realized the crisis and established the "All-Japan Patriotic Organization Conference (hereinafter referred to as the All-Japan Patriotic Association)" to unite almost all of Japan's right-wing political organizations that were relatively active at that time in an attempt to confront the former. On April 26, the National Council to Prevent the Revision of the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty held its 15th nationwide unification campaign, mobilizing mass petitions, rallies, and demonstrations. The Diet received 170,000 petitions, and the number of petitions attended by 3.3 million people, making it an "unprecedented petition" in Japanese history. Under such circumstances, the US side proposed that President Dwight D. Eisenhower visit Japan on 19 June. With Japan's police force fully deployed to respond to marches, protests and demonstrations, ensuring Eisenhower's safety has become a thorny problem for Kishi's administration. According to the calculations of Tomisaburo Hashimoto, the head of the reception of Eisenhower at the time, 80,000 people needed to be mobilized to ensure Eisenhower's safety, and the shortfall was about 40,000 based on the police force at that time. Therefore, it is necessary to rely on the strength of non-governmental right-wing groups and the "Ren Xia Department" underworld organizations. The person who is specifically responsible for negotiating and coordinating with the bigwigs of the "Ren Xia Department" underworld organization is Kodama Yushifu.
But the situation has developed beyond the expectations of Kishi's cabinet. On June 15, 5.8 million Japanese people protested against the signing of the Japan-US Security Treaty, shouting the slogan "Oppose Eisenhower's visit to Japan." That night, 7,000 students stormed the Diet and clashed with 3,000 riot police, and the death of Tomoko Kabi, a 22-year-old female student at the University of Tokyo and a member of the ** League, intensified the contradictions in Japan as never before. On the 16th, the Nobusuke Kishi government, which was worried that it would not be able to ensure the safety of the US president, had no choice but to ask the US side to request that Eisenhower's visit to Japan be postponed, and finally Eisenhower canceled the visit to Japan. The Japan-U.S. Security Treaty is automatically renewed. In this way, there is no need to mobilize 40,000 non-governmental right-wing groups and the "Ren Xia system" underworld. However, the LDP's special fund of about 500 million to 600 million yen at that time disappeared, and it was rumored that Kodama had been enriched. For this purpose, the Japanese right-wing held a special "meeting to find out the truth," but because it was resisted by Kodama and others, it was finally stopped. Hundreds of millions of dollars in money at once, such a "patriotic work", you say that Kodama can not be motivated!
Of course, the right-wing gangsters who have made such a large sum of money are not too embarrassed to do nothing - brainwashing young people and shouting and shouting to kill is what they are best at. On October 12, 1960, 17-year-old Nippon Nippon Patriot Party member Yamaguchi Fuchiya assassinated Inajiro Asanuma, chairman of the Socialist Party, in public at the Hibiya Hall in Tokyo. Afterwards, a note was found in Yamaguchi's school pocket: "You, Inarijiro Asanuma, are in the process of redizing Japan. I don't hate you personally, but when you are the leader of the Socialist Party, you talk nonsense during your visit to China, and the so-called "nonsense during your visit to China" refers to Asanuma's statement during his visit to China that "U.S. imperialism is the common enemy of Japan and China." , and you are directly responsible for the storming of the Capitol, all of this, for me, absolutely inadmissible! I will do the right thing for heaven. "The Asanuma assassination incident is a representative event for describing the trajectory of the growth of the Japanese ultra-right-wing forces in the post-war mafia, and the violent groups on the streets of Japan have become the core force of right-wing politics, and their proposition is very simple, that is, to bloody suppress all voices that oppose them, including the left-wing ** forces that were in full swing at that time. The only thing that can make these guys "quiet" for the time being is the more powerful United States. Otherwise, why do there have been repeated cases of US soldiers **Japanese women**, but I have never heard of a right-wing young man rushing into the US military base in Okinawa to cause trouble?
After that, the fledgling Kodama began to buy the accounts of those right-wing old people very little, and even withdrew from the All-Love Association in a high-profile manner, and drew those relatively young Japanese right-wingers around him to set up the so-called "Patriotic Youth Conference", which was soon renamed the "Youth Thought Research Association" (hereinafter referred to as the Youth Thought Society). Among the members of the Seiji Society were the "Hinomaru Youth Team" led by Masayoshi Takahashi, the "Japan Reform Party" led by Jiro Chikushi, the "Showa Restoration Alliance" led by Yukiki Nishiyama, the "Anti-Communist Stand Force" led by Susumu Fukuda, and the "Great Nippon Production Party" led by Kiyogoro Kitagami. The Seiji Society is also known as the "Kodama Legion", and because the members of these organizations are relatively young, they dare to fight and kill, and they are relatively strong. It is said that before the Lockheed case was discovered, Japanese right-wingers, regardless of age or seniority, did not dare to say a word in front of Yushi Kodama.
In addition, Kodama also packaged and integrated the domestic "Ren Xia system" underworld organizations in the name of right-wing political groups. As mentioned above, due to the opposition of the "Yamaguchi-gumi", Kodama did not achieve the goal of unifying the underworld organization of the "Renxia system" in all of Japan, so she had to retreat to the next best thing, and in 1963 she became active in the Kanto region of Japan, and the "Kanto region" that the Japanese refer to usually refers to the six prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, Gunma, and Tochigi. The "Kansai region" mainly includes cities such as Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara. Somewhat similar to the distinction between the north and the south of our country, there are some differences in the history, culture, and human feelings of the Kanto and Kansai. The underworld organizations united and established the so-called "Kanto Society", which included the Matsuba Society, the Sumiyoshi Society, the Kokuzen Society, the Nishimasai Association, the Dongsheng Society, and the Hokusei Society. To say that Kodama's pretense will be revealed when she is proud. Those veteran right-wing bigwigs were already very dissatisfied with Kodama's practice of setting up his own door, and he even openly criticized the Liberal Democratic Party at the founding ceremony of the Kwantung Association, and jointly wrote a warning letter with a group of gangsters entitled "Please stop the factional struggle within the Liberal Democratic Party immediately," and each member of the Japanese House of Councillors and the House of Representatives has a copy. Perhaps, Kodama did this only to make the Japanese people feel that the Kanto Kai was a right-wing political organization with political ideals and aspirations, rather than a triad group. But black is black, no matter how much you pretend, you can't deceive the world, and the right-wing elders and the top of the Liberal Democratic Party are very dissatisfied with Kodama's arrogance of disregarding her own feelings. Therefore, the Japanese government took this letter as an opportunity to launch a huge special operation to "crack down on violent gangs" in January 1964. For a time, rumors spread that Kodama Yushi was very likely to be arrested, and the "Kodama Army" was dormant for a while, and he himself realized that putting on the "legal cloak" of the underworld group could not be done overnight, and that the development of the "underground kingdom" could not exceed a certain limit, and that it was necessary to cooperate with the right-wing political forces in power rather than challenge their authority, otherwise it might cause public anger and annihilation.
After recognizing this truth, Kodama Yushio began to take active action. On the one hand, the "Kodama Army" was urged to speed up the cloak of a right-wing political group. In 1967 (Showa 42), the "Kofui Club", formed by Kodama Yushio and other underworld bigwigs, opened the so-called "Japan Youth Lecture" to train a new generation of "right-wing youth leaders". The courses taught are not only the "martial arts training" that is required in the traditional underworld, but also the courses on how to use the media, including how to write articles in popular Japanese weekly magazines. On the other hand, he also pushed his various underworld groups to change the way they collected money in the past, and no longer directly relied on violence to collect money, but relied on violence to actively enter civil construction, "entertainment industry", real estate agency and other industries.
In addition, in addition to the relatively rudimentary "corporatization of violent groups" to achieve transformation, the mafia organization headed by Yushio Kodama also intervened in the control of the "general meeting house" and "general meeting house": not buildings, but specifically those unscrupulous "shareholders" who extort the management of the company by playing various forms of scoundrels at the company's general meeting (general meeting). (Note: "Taikaiya" is a phenomenon unique to Japan and has a long history.) Around 1903, some illegal acts similar to the "General House" were exposed in the newspapers. After World War II, the Allied occupation forces reformed the Japanese economy according to the idea of democratization and corporatization, and the larger enterprises established a modern enterprise system, and the shareholders' meeting held in June every year was the highest decision-making body of the enterprises. Due to the fact that the shareholders of large companies that are open to the public are very dispersed, even the majority shareholders do not hold 50% of the shares. The managers of Japanese companies are often experts in production line management, lack knowledge of media and crisis management, and are not good at dealing with different opinions at shareholders' meetings.
In order to avoid conflicts, the management of Japanese companies often chooses to compromise and pay a certain amount of "settlement money" to these troublemakers in exchange for their "cooperation". "Trouble-Negotiation-Money" is still the primary form of the "general house", and the more advanced "general house" will intervene in the power struggle within the company. The managers who have their support take control of the company and reward them by paying "consulting fees" and revealing inside information. By 1975, before the Lockheed case, the number of members of Japan's "head office" had reached 5,000, and it had become an important "cancer" that hindered the normal operation of the modern corporate governance structure in Japan. In 1981, Japan's Commercial Code was amended in an effort to crack down on the "General House". Japan's Securities and Exchange Law also stipulates that securities companies are strictly prohibited from providing financing to organizations such as "head houses" and "organized crime groups", and they are not allowed to transfer trading profits to their accounts. However, these laws are not well enforced.
Expanding its influence into Japan's economic sphere, it has gradually gotten rid of its dependence on donations and handouts from right-wing political groups in terms of financial resources, and has the "hematopoietic" function of accumulating and looting wealth from corporations and enterprises.
Some people say that Kodama Yu Shifu relied on "military" relations in his youth, and in his middle age, he relied on "political" connections, but in his later years, he mixed in "financial circles", and he was really a certain representative "three-dimensional star" in Japan. He embodied the cooperation, unification, and struggle between the right-wing forces of the "action" and the "Ren Xia system" underworld organization after World War II. It is precisely because of Kodama's influence that Lockheed will find him as an intermediary when it wants to open up the Japanese civil aviation market. After the Lockheed case, Yushio Kodama, as the party who grasped the core situation, kept saying that he was sick and bedridden and refused to cooperate. In February 1976, the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives of Japan decided to summon Kodama, who said that he was sick and bedridden at home, and soon after the prosecutor also interrogated Kodama at the bedside of the "Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital". Public opinion in Japan is generally dissatisfied with the prosecutor's failure to take further coercive measures against Kodama. In March 1976, because of Kodama's "betrayal of national interests" and "the contempt for Europe and the United States and other countries commonly used by right-wing Japanese political groups in the streets of Anglo-American ghost animals." Mitsuho Maeno, who was dissatisfied with his cooperation, attempted to use a small remote-piloted plane with a large amount of explosives to blow up Kodama who was "recuperating" at home. Kodama happened not to rest in her bedroom and narrowly escaped. Kodama, who advocated violence all her life, also tasted the bitterness of violence this time, which cannot but be said to be a kind of irony. In March 1976, prosecutors indicted Kodama on suspicion of violating the Foreign Exchange Act and the Income Tax Act, and Kodama again complained of illness, and the trial scheduled for June 1977 had to be postponed. In 1980, Kodama was hospitalized, and in January 1984, at the age of 72, Kodama died of illness, and the judicial prosecution against him was suspended.
However, the trend of "confluence" between the right-wing political forces of Japan's "action faction" and the "Ren Xia system" underworld group has not stalled in any way with the death of Kodama Yushio. Those who have been to the Yasukuni Shrine will find that every time they go to the so-called "great festival," there is a peculiar phenomenon, that is, there are not only well-dressed parliamentarians and politicians in the Yasukuni Shrine, but also many people wearing Japanese military uniforms and even Nazi military uniforms. These people are often neither the families of the so-called war dead nor ordinary Japanese nationals, but right-wingers with a background in triad organizations. On 15 August 2006, Junichiro Koizumi visited the Yasukuni Shrine again in his capacity as prime minister despite the opposition of the people of other Asian countries. On August 16, Hirokazu Kato, former secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party, criticized this. Shockingly, his home in Tsuruta City, Yamagata Prefecture, was set on fire by a 65-year-old member of a right-wing organization in Tokyo that evening, and Hiroshi Kato's 95-year-old mother was saved from being killed because she happened to be out for a walk. Someone who raised a different opinion and immediately pulled out a knife to kill people (Injiro Asanuma was assassinated in 1960) and poured gasoline on the house, can anyone else do it except the underworld? What is even more disturbing is that such acts of violence in post-World War II Japan can still be blatantly supported and encouraged by some high-level political and economic leaders from time to time. For example, on October 12, 1960, after Inajiro Asanuma, chairman of the Socialist Party, was stabbed to death in public by extreme right-wingers, Yasuzo Ishisaka, then president of Toshiba Corporation and president of the Japan Keidanren, was not shocked and reflected, but told the media: "Although the violence is not good, it is not that I cannot understand the feelings of this young man who is distressed by the actions of Asanuma who leads the security struggle, and so on." The implication is that Taizo Ishizaka, who is in charge of the Japanese economic circles, actually resonates with this 17-year-old terrorist very much and is his bosom friend! To be honest, as a person who has studied law, I really do not advocate fierce anti-Japanese behavior, but for a company led by someone like Ishisaka Taizo, how can anyone who is Chinese not feel dangerous, terrifying, and disgusted? For the products it produces, how can you not feel that your hands are bloody, and your heart is awkward? Once such a Japan had revised its post-war pacifist constitution, how could it not worry about the countries that had been invaded by it?
In order to launch a war of aggression against foreign countries before World War II and to deal with the progressive mass movement after World War II, the Japanese right-wing political forces actively integrated the so-called "Ren Xia system" underworld forces, and this unusual effort had a major impact on Japan's political ecology. At present, among all the developed countries in the world, only Japan, in the name of "freedom of association," explicitly and openly recognizes the legal status of organized crime groups, and even refuses to recognize that organized crime groups such as the Yamaguchi-gumi are "triads" in the strict sense of the word. Yakuzchi-gumi and other violent groups also actively cooperated, not only claiming to be loyal and patriotic "people of the emperor," but also striving to promote their own corporatization and legalization. It is said that a "community friendly declaration" was hung outside the Yamaguchi-gumi headquarters in Kobe City, saying that child labor, drug trafficking, and cigarette butts were not tolerated. In the event of a major natural disaster, the Yamaguchi-gumi also actively participated in disaster relief activities, such as the Kobe earthquake in 1995 and the March 11 earthquake in Japan in 2011. All of this adds to the deceptiveness of Japanese mafia organizations. But in any case, it is still financed by illegal businesses, and even if it is a legitimate business, it is inseparable from the backing and support of violence. For example, Japan's "consumer finance" (microfinance business that does not require collateral) is characterized by the convenience of loans, and on the surface the conditions appear to be very favorable, but in fact it is taking advantage of the loopholes in Japanese law to engage in quasi-usury business. In 2010, Japan's TBS TV station also launched a "late-night TV series" "Dark Gold Ugly Island" that depicts related themes. In fact, many of the companies involved in this business are "finance companies" with gang-related backgrounds. Generally speaking, Japanese people who dare to borrow usury are either poor and crazy, or they are not stingy, and once such people borrow money, it is likely that they will not be able to repay the money on time, however, companies with gangs will not worry about this, because they have enough "methods" to "squeeze" the money.
In the future, will Japan, which is likely to face a shrinking population, sluggish economy, and a resurgence of right-wing ideology for a long time, still be able to firmly control these triad forces? Could this political force become a potential threat to peace in East Asia? After World War II, the United States emphasized practical interests over right and wrong justice in its policy toward Japan, and did not really liquidate the poison of ultra-nationalism. Hopefully, these are the author's unfounded worries. It is gratifying to note that there are many people in Japan who approve of and uphold the pacifist constitution, including Kenzaburo Oe, who was awarded the Nobel Prize.
