In northern Mexico, on the border between San Luis Potosí and Nuevo Unhlaing, large U.S. forces are crossing the military demarcation line between the two sides and heading west of San Luis Poto. The city of Valjes is only forty kilometers from the state of Tamaulipas, and the 11th and 13th armies of the US army arrived here at 11 a.m. on the 21st. Housing in Ciudad Valles were four infantry divisions of the Mexican government army, about 50,000 men. The strength of the US military is only half of that of the US military, and its weapons and equipment are much inferior to those of the US military. Four divisions, only a hundred light guns. After learning of the specific situation, Admiral Gao Chang ordered the Mexican government forces to resist and delay the US offensive on San Luis Potosí.

On the afternoon of September 23, the 12th and 15th armies of the US army, attacking from New Aung Laing, arrived in San Luis Potosí. The main forces of the Sixth Army of the Chinese Army, which was responsible for guarding the place, were ready for battle. In the afternoon of the same day, the Americans launched a tentative attack, but were lightly repulsed by the Chinese defenders. After that, the American army did not attack again, but retreated back and built a defensive position!

At 9 o'clock the next morning, the U.S. forces once again launched a fierce attack on San Luis Potosí, and the two U.S. armies concentrated more than 300 heavy artillery pieces to carry out a fierce artillery bombardment of San Luis Potosí. And the Chinese defenders also fought back fiercely. The artillery brigades of the Sixth Army, as well as the artillery battalions of the 11th and 68th divisions, took part in the artillery battle. In terms of the number of artillery, the Chinese defenders were no less than the American ones. In terms of the performance of artillery and the level of artillery, it is even stronger than the American army. As a result, the US military could not take advantage of any advantage in the artillery battle. After an hour of artillery fighting, the Americans lost more than 100 cannons, while the Chinese defenders only lost more than 50 cannons.

The artillery could not win, much to the annoyance of the commander of the American army, Major General Moon, the commander of the 12th Army.
