November 7, 1943, marks the 26th anniversary of the October Revolution in the Soviet Union.

In that year, Stalin ordered a grand military parade on Red Square. The socialist allies friendly to the Soviet Union, including China, Germany, France (Northern France), Belgium, Yugoslavia and other countries, sent senior officials to participate in the grand parade. Britain, southern France, Italy, and even the United States, which is far away on the other side of the ocean, and Spain, which is not on the right path for the Soviet Union, also sent personnel to participate in the parade.

The latter was not so much to see the pace of the Soviet Red Army on Red Square as to find out information related to the Soviet heroes who were in full swing last month.

Stalin was well aware that in front of the traverser Linhan, the process of the development of Soviet weapons was no secret at all. And Lin Han's relationship with the German side looks as good as wearing a pair of pants. Therefore, Stalin did not attach much importance to the secrecy of the new weapons of the Soviet Union, but instead went the opposite way, deliberately showing off all the new weapons that had been developed or were even still under development at the military parade that day.

Like the IS1 (KV100) tank that followed the IS2, this tank had a bunch of mechanical issues to solve. It's still a long way from being a good product. And the entire Soviet Union, whether IS1 or IS2, with a total of less than 100 vehicles, were all "paper tigers" taken out by Stalin in order to scare Germany in the west, and most of them were hand-built by the Soviet Union in the arsenal three months before the parade.

The Soviet-German war arose in history. The IS2, which used a 122-mm cannon, was purely an emergency product of the insufficient production of 100-mm tank guns during the war.

And the IS2 of this plane is completely the product of Stalin's large-caliber feelings and personal self-assertions.

It took only four months for the tank to go from project approval to development to the production of 40 "prototypes" on Red Square. And the Kotin Development Bureau, which accepted this political task, only considered how to fit the 122-mm tank gun onto the chassis of the KV100, that is, the IS1. It took just over a month. The development is complete.

Restricted by chassis limitations, there is a big gap in performance between this IS2 and the famous IS2 tank of the Soviet-German war in history, the main gap is in the thickness of the armor, which is 20 mm thinner on average. Anyway, these tanks will not go to war immediately, they don't need to bring ammunition, and they can greatly reduce their weight, as long as they make sure that they don't break down and lose people when they pass through Red Square. And Stalin himself did not intend to continue the mass production of this type of tank after the parade on Red Square, the purpose of its appearance on Red Square. It's all about showing off and releasing smoke.

After the IS2 tank phalanx, through the IS1 tank phalanx on Red Square, then the KV series, and finally the T34-76 type, this generation of classics because they can't prove themselves in actual combat, they can only sadly follow the KV series behind them.

The German side sent masters of armored warfare. Today's German Field Marshal Guderian watched the scene of the Soviet Red Army tanks crossing Red Square on the spot, and Stalin's tank show was more for him to see. The SU76 is the Soviet version of the Weasel self-propelled anti-tank gun developed by the Soviet Union itself. The Soviets had in their hands a bunch of old light tanks of more than 20,000 units. With the large number of new tanks in service, these old tanks became chicken ribs, and in order to reuse the waste, the Soviets also developed a similar product to the German Weasel series, namely the SU76, and installed a 76.2 mm cannon (historically, this self-propelled gun was nicknamed Bitch in the Soviet army, and its reputation was not very good). ）

And the SU85 is purely a product of Kotin's persecution of the T34, he used administrative means to intervene in the T34-85 equipment troops, forcing the Kharkov Design Bureau to put only 85 guns on the front of the body of the T34 as a tank destroyer, which is a waste for the chassis of the 34.

Unbeknownst to Kotin, the matter had been quietly reported to Stalin because of the use of connections to suppress the equipment of the T34-85, and he was also listed on the list of the upcoming new round of purges.

In addition to these weapons, self-propelled heavy artillery arrays such as the SU122 and SU152 drove through Red Square, and after two years of hibernation, a new generation of Soviet armor was formed, which shook the world when it was publicly unveiled on Red Square for the first time.

As a convoy of tanks drove past Red Square, the narrator at the scene unceremoniously reported to the guests the number of tanks the Soviet Union had, but the exact number was 50 percent more than what was actually equipped.

Stalin needed to flex his muscles to the world before he could embark on a new purge in the Soviet Union, and to warn his dangerous ally to the west against anything wrong.

After the parade on Red Square, the real highlight of the day was the cruiser Auror, anchored on the banks of the Neva River.
