Chapter 64 [Sage]

Yecheng is a bit like a piece of tofu, which is a bit incredible.

There may be two situations here, one is that Wei Xiaokuan's army took advantage of the situation and rushed into Yecheng, which had no time to close the gate.

But what the history books say is that Wei Xiaokuan immediately besieged Yecheng and did not enter the city immediately.

Then, there may be a second situation, that is, Yecheng is easy to attack and difficult to defend.

Regarding this ancient capital, whether there are fortifications, and if there are fortifications, whether they are something like tofu that can be broken when stabbed is indeed a question.

However, the historical data on this aspect show that the urban construction of Yecheng was the best in ancient times.

The reason is that this has been the land of many dynasties and many emperors.

The construction of this Yecheng began as early as the Spring and Autumn Period of Qi Huan. According to historical records, the public name of its city repair was to protect the capital division where the king of Zhou lived, but in fact, it was for the need to fight for hegemony, so the city construction at that time was mainly based on military facilities.

At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty (191 AD), Yuan Shao occupied Yecheng and began to build a palace, transforming it from a military town to a city with general urban functions.

Since then, Yecheng has undergone three large-scale constructions.

The first time was after Cao Wei built the capital of Yecheng. According to research, there were two city walls in the city at that time, which were separated by the axis of the east and west roads into the inner city and the outer city, with 4 gates in the inner city and 7 gates in the outer city. Among them, the famous bronze bird, golden tiger, ice well and other three built by the height of the city wall, both have the function of reviewing military horse exercises outside the city and the city defense fortress.

And the firmness of its city wall, archaeological excavations have confirmed that in the west city wall of Yebei City, the south side of Tongque Terrace, located 1.6 meters to 2.5 meters below the surface, the existing city wall is 2.6 meters high, about 20 meters wide, the wall is rammed earth, the density of tamping is large, the rammed earth is solid, especially the city wall is found to be decorated with bricks, which confirms that when the second Yecheng was built in the later Zhao Shihu period (355 AD), "the table is decorated with bricks, and the first floor of a hundred steps is ......" is true, and this should be very firm in the case of only rammed earth as the city wall at that time, And the height of the city wall should be 5 meters, and the width should be more than 2 meters.

The third time was the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi periods. In 534 A.D., Gao Huan supported Emperor Wei Xiaojing to move the capital to Yecheng, in order to settle 400,000 immigrants from Luoyang, recruited more than 76,000 migrant workers, and built Yenan City in the place close to Yebei City, so that the defendant expanded into six miles from east to west (about 2,952 meters), eight miles from north to south and sixty steps (about 3,542 meters), a total of 11 gates, equivalent to the perimeter

& m, with a total area of 9.2 square kilometers of the city. And Gao Yang of the Northern Qi Dynasty also renovated the Bronze Bird, the Golden Beast (in the Later Zhao Dynasty, the Golden Tiger Platform has been renamed the Golden Beast Platform), and the Ice Well Santai, which were renamed the Golden Phoenix, Shengying and Sogo, and their height should be at least 30 meters or more.

After the Northern Qi Dynasty was destroyed by the Northern Zhou Dynasty in 577 AD, Yecheng was included in the territory of the Northern Zhou Dynasty as the capital, and there was no record of being destroyed in the war.

From this point of view, it is difficult to establish the theory that Yecheng is easy to attack and difficult to defend.

But Yecheng was breached in one day, that's a fact.

To be clear, there are a few possible scenarios to assume:

- Wei Chi Yu didn't expect that the defeat would be so fast, and it was too late to deploy defenses, and Wei Xiaokuan waved the crowd and took the opportunity to launch a siege battle, and the city was broken as soon as it was attacked.

But what can be refuted about this situation is that Wei Chi Hui is a veteran general who has been in battle for a long time, leading a large army to fight, and it is impossible for Yecheng to be undefended.

Then, this can only be explained by the fact that among the soldiers who fled back to Yecheng, there were both their own side and the other side, and among the people who rushed in was the marching manager named Cui Hongdu.

There is also Li Xun and He Louzi.

Let's talk about this Cui Hongdu first.

This person was a famous cool official in the later Sui Dynasty. Later, the people of Chang'an made up a Shun Yu to say, "I'd rather drink three buckets of vinegar than see Cui Hongdu; It is better to eat three buckets of mugwort than to touch Qutugai. "Qu Tugai is an abusive official of Cui Hongdu in the same period.

However, at that time, Cui Hongdu was one of the seven commanders, the commander of the front army, and the governor of Yuanzhou (now Guyuan County, Ningxia Autonomous Region).

Cui Hongdu was a member of Boling Anping (now Hebei Province>

This person was born in martial arts, and his "brawn strength is unparalleled" and his personality is harsh.

And people with this kind of personality generally act in a somewhat eccentric way.

Yang Jian asked him to be one of the commanders of the Seven Front Army, but he didn't bring any soldiers, probably doing business in the capital, and going back to Yuanzhou, the road was too far, so he just temporarily recruited hundreds of outlaws in Chang'an and formed a death squad, called it a special force, which is somewhat appropriate

According to the above analysis, it is very likely that these special forces of several hundred people will take advantage of the chaos to enter the city, and it is very consistent with the current large-scale approach.

And this Commander Cui, in the operation, was demoted to the captain of the special forces, and the body was very good, because he was a good man, and he could not use force without a place.

However, he has a shortcoming, that is, because he still talks about family affection, so that the first merit that should have belonged to him was taken away.

Because his sister-in-law was the wife of Wei Chi's son.

The history books do not say that Wei Chi Hui's son married Commander Cui's sister-in-law, but here it is said "once", and there is a record that Wei Chi Kuan, the son of Wei Chi Yuan, died first, so it is very likely that he married Commander Cui's sister-in-law.

And Cui Hongdu and Wei Chi have this kinship relationship, which may have happened during the period when Cui Hongdu was given the duke of Ye County after Emperor Wu of Zhou destroyed Qi, which should be after 577 AD.

Because Wei Chi Hui was in the first year of the elephant (579 AD), he served as the fourth assistant and concurrently served as the governor of Xiangzhou, and the seat of the state capital of Xiangzhou was Yecheng.

However, when Cui Hongdu was recruited by Yang Jian as the commander of the front army of Chi Yuan's army, one of his identities was Wuxiang Gong.

Wuxiang is in Wuxiang County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, and should only be his fiefdom, that is, the source of life and enjoyment.

Another theory about this is that because Commander Cui did not kill Lieutenant Chi Hui later, he also asked him to improvise and scolded Yang Jian before committing suicide, so he was demoted to the first rank and became the Duke of Wuxiang County, which is inconsistent and I don't know what to do.

If this is the case, it is to change his supply base (he works in a distant place in Ningxia), because it turns out that he is the prince of Ye County.

And when Wei Chi Hui raised the army, he was still the Duke of Ye County, and he had nothing to do with this Wei Chi Yuan, so it was a bit of a head.

It seems that Tao Yuanming's learning experience, which does not seek to understand much in reading, is of important guiding significance.

Because if you ask for understanding, you will inevitably get dizzy.

With this kind of thinking, we will not blame the ancients for this kind of "historical fragmentation", which is really difficult to make up, but it is true that I am not engaged in scientific research here.

Commander Cui has a harsh personality as mentioned above, and what can be said is that the captain of his special forces, after sneaking into the city, should actually bite the ass of his former in-laws tightly, like a vicious dog, chasing after him, this ruthlessness is a typical expression of strict law enforcement and ruthlessness.

The so-called "straight up to the dragon's tail to chase it" means that it followed Wei Chi's in-laws' buttocks, along the winding road, and did not fall an inch, but I don't know that Wei Chi's famous general is climbing on the "turret" at this time, and I don't know if it is in the aisle on the platform of the Tongque Terrace and other fortifications.

The saying of "dragon tail" means that this aisle looks down from above, just like the dragon's tail drooping, so it has the title of this image.

Seeing that the in-laws behind him were acting impartially and chasing after him, General Wei Chi wanted to turn around and release arrows several times, but he still held back after thinking about it.

Because the famous general Wei Chi is old, he naturally can't run.

However, although he is old, this archery technique is still there, although the power of the bow is not as good as before, but this in-law is so close, within complete range, he has not moved, he wants this one to probably follow, forget it, after all, a relative, I didn't expect to meet this, but it is the master of the things that are biased and broken, it is really impossible, I have to stand on my heels, take a breath, bend the bow and arrows, as long as I let go, this Commander Cui is resting.

Unexpectedly, this in-law stood in place, took off his "hood", that is, his helmet, revealed a face that he had not seen for several years, and said something:

Do you still recognize each other? Now I am impartial in enforcing the law, I can't bend the law for personal gain, we used to be relatives, and I can only control my subordinates against these soldiers who will be a little messy, and I can't insult you.

Things are already like this with the development of the form, you still have to watch it, what are you waiting for?

What Yang Jian is waiting for is nothing more than the opportunity.

Sometimes the opportunity comes by chance, and sometimes the opportunity needs to be created.

If Yang Jian is relieved to be an official and goes to Yangzhou more than 2,000 miles away to become the governor, then the so-called plan will definitely be in vain, but this is not his business alone, and he is not fighting alone.

Then, Zhou Tianyuan suddenly became ill and died because of this disease, which is not in this plan, in fact, it is not easy to say.

Because there is no historical data to support this "plan", it is difficult for us to jump to conclusions.

However, some of the events that occurred before and after the palace coup d'état, let us now carefully interpret it, do not seem to be a foreshadowing for an immediate decision to carry out a palace coup d'état, and it will be successfully reported.

The important reason for opposing the "plan theory" was attributed to the fact that Yang Jian was highly regarded at that time, and was the core figure in the political arena of the Northern Zhou Dynasty.

If this is the case, before that, it was created by Yang Jian to become the emperor in the future, and in the name of the person's strange appearance, the public opinion spread by the feudal superstition will become a disorderly act that is not too necessary.

This kind of understanding also underestimates the wisdom of the ancients, and Long Qi is a person who is engaged in politics, and he will forget his immediate life and death because of his sincere desire for feudal superstition, at least for the opposition, this is impossible.

What happened next proved that.

First, the five kings were summoned to Beijing. The five kings are the old seven Zhao Wang Yu Wenzhao, the old nine Chen Wang Yu Wenchun, the old ten Yue Wang Yu Wensheng, the old eleventh generation Wang Yu Wenda, and the old thirteen Teng Wang Yu Wenkui.

Their fiefdoms were in Xiangguo County (present-day Xingtai City, Hebei Province) as Zhao State, Jinan County (present-day Jinan City, Shandong Province) as Chen State, Wudang (present-day Danjiang City, Hubei Province) and Anfu (present-day Yunxian County, Hubei Province) as Yueguo, and Xinye County (present-day Xinye County, Henan Province) as Tengguo.

These five kings are the five sons of Zhou Taizu Yuwentai, and the five brothers of Yuwenyong, the king of Northern Zhou Wu, because the Northern Zhou Dynasty was made into a situation where the sky has two days, if this system is continued to be followed, and a new emperor is to be established immediately, one of the five imperial uncles is likely to be one of them, is the successor.

Although this Zhou Xuan Emperor Yuwen Yun, in addition to Emperor Jing of the Northern Zhou Dynasty Yu Wen Xian, there are two other sons Ye Wang Yu Wen Xuan and Ying Wang Yu Wen Shu, these two sons were not born to Zhou Tianyuan's five queens, in addition to the eldest son Zhou Jing Emperor Yu Wen Yan was born to Empress Zhu Manyue, Yu Wen Jian was born to Wang Ji, Yu Wenshu was born to Huang Fu Ji, Queen Yang Lihua, who was in the first place, only gave birth to a princess Princess Yuwen Eying, which may be another reason why she couldn't straighten up in front of Zhou Tianwu.

However, in the same generation, it is impossible to make one of Yu Wenxi's two brothers emperor.

And Zhou Tianyuan has six brothers, he himself is the boss, these six brothers are Han Wang Yu Wenzan, Qin Wang Yu Wenzhen, Cao Wang Yu Wenyun, Dao Wang Yu Wenchong, Cai Wang Yu Wendui, Jing Wang Yu Wenyuan.

Among them, except for the Han King Yuwenzan and the Qin King Yuwenzhen, who held the nominal positions of Zhuguo and Otsuka Zai respectively at that time, the other brothers were just ordinary kings, and they were still young, Yang Jian did not move these brothers for the time being, it is very likely that this is because of this reason.
