CHAPTER XXVI

The awakening of people's wisdom requires the efforts of several generations or more than a dozen generations.

Today's people inevitably have an emperor above their heads, and without an emperor, the people will feel at a loss as if they had lost the sky.

It is precisely because of this that Baili Wuji has no intention of establishing a new political system, the rebellion of the five generations has just subsided, and the people have just passed the days of not much stability, and Baili Wuji does not want to cause another bloody storm because of the change of the system.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to wait until the next generation or even the next generation, when the people are educated and induced, and after gradually opening up the wisdom of the people, a new political system will be established.

What Baili Wuji needs to do is to arrange a transitional political system and plant the seeds of democracy in the two institutions of higher learning in the Ming Kingdom, so that after a few years, it will naturally reap the fruits that it deserves.

The so-called so-called so-called so-

On the surface, the seed of democracy was opposed to the autocracy of the emperor, but in fact it was not a simple imperial lineage, but a vested interest group represented by the feudal system.

When the wisdom of the people has not yet begun, trying to establish a constitution or a republic is like a person who is against the whole society, and whether he succeeds or fails, this person will not end well.

Now, Baili Wuji is pouring all his energy into the army, and what he hopes is to conquer Dali this time, improve and perfect the functions and structure of the Yang Ting-style "bombing team", and establish a special inland water army in Peng Xiao's ocean-going fleet to deter some different voices in the country.

Baili Wuji planned to place the inland water army under the direct jurisdiction of Zhongshu Province, and its function was to supplement the garrison troops of various prefectures. It plays a role in protecting the borders and the people, escorting merchant ships, and cracking down on water bandits.

For this purpose, the wheelship entered the selection range of the hundred miles because of its speed and low manpower consumption.

The wheel ship had the unique advantage of matching with the initial steam engine.

This is the main reason why Baili Wuji chose it as the standard equipment of the inland water army.

A few months later, preparations for a series of wars continued in the Ming Kingdom. Xu Shouren and Bai Likang sent back the news at the same time, and the civil war broke out in Dali.

The predecessor of Dali was Nanzhao.

In the second year of Nanzhao Zunsheng (929), Yang Ganzhen seized the position of Zhao Shanzheng, built a great Yining, and changed the Yuan Xingsheng.

His younger brother Yang Zhao pointed out that Duan Siping had the appearance of an emperor, and under suspicion, Yang Ganzhen was eager to hunt down Duan Siping.

Because of Duan Siping's excellent martial arts. Outstanding talent, was initially promoted to the curtain view, and later accumulated merit to be promoted to the sea festival envoy. Become a general in charge of one side.

At that time, the society was in the midst of change, and the Nanzhao regime had come to an end, and was successively replaced by Zheng Maihei's "Dachangheguo", Zhao Shanzheng's "Datianxingguo" and Yang Ganzhen's "Dayi Ningguo".

These regimes were very short-lived. When they change each other, they inevitably kill each other. It made the people's livelihood miserable and complained.

During the period when he was chased and killed by Yang Ganzhen, Duan Siping once went to the Xiushan Shrine to obtain a revelation for divination, and hid in his uncle's tribe.

The good government minister Shou Gaofang had a close relationship with Duan Siping, and sent Duan Siping's brother Duan Siliang and the military advisor Dong Jialuo to protect them.

In the first year of the revival of Nanzhao (930), Yang Ganzhen's position was usurped by his younger brother Yang Zhao.

Duan Siping borrowed troops from the 37th Barbarian Department of Heijiao in the east, and met in Shicheng, with Dong Jialuo as his military advisor. Crusade against Yang Ganzhen, everything is defeated. Then he attacked Dali.

At that time, Yang Zhao and other Chen soldiers were based on the bridge, and the Duan army could not pass guò. That night, Duan Siping got three dreams in his sleep: "People have no head; The jade bottle has no ears; The mirror is broken", feeling puzzled, and his military advisor Dong Jialuo pointed out that Duan Siping's dream is a good omen, because "Jun is a husband, and the head is heaven; The jade bottle is king; If the mirror is broken, there is no right one", so the morale of the army was greatly boosted.

On the same day, Duan Jun found a woman in Huansha and guided Duan Jun to a suitable location for the army to cross the river, saying: "People are from the end of my river, horses are from Sansha, and the name of the country is Dali." ”

Duan Siping's army successfully crossed the river according to the guidance of the Huansha women, Yang Zhao's army was defeated and committed suicide, Yang Ganzhen abandoned the city and fled after knowing the news of the defeat, and was captured by Duan Siping's army, and Dayining perished.

In the seventh year (937), Duan Siping ascended the throne, built the name Dali, Jianyuan Wende, and the capital Dali.

In 944, Duan Siping died while inspecting agriculture in Dengchuan, and was succeeded by his son Duan Siying.

Duan Siying ascended the throne and changed the Yuan Wenjing. In the second year of Wenjing (946), Duan Siping's younger brother Duan Siliang united with Xiangguo Dong Jialuo to launch a coup d'état, forcing Duan Siying to abdicate and become a monk, and set himself up as the emperor, changing the Yuan to the rule.

Since then, the succession to the throne of Dali has been transferred from Duan Siping's line to Duan Siliang's line.

Duan Siliang made a lot of contributions in the establishment of the Dali regime, and he was also quite trusted during Duan Siping's reign and was a powerful figure in the royal family.

After he forced his nephew to abdicate the throne, he became the third emperor of Dali, reigned for six years, and used an era name, Zhizhi (946-951).

After Duan Siliang's death, he was called Emperor Shengci Wenwu, and his son Duan Sicong succeeded him.

At this time, the Gao family, represented by Gao Fang, which had rapidly expanded, replaced the Dong family and became the actual controller of the power of the court.

The two major forces of Emperor Duan Sicong and Gao Fang were originally in the stage of secret competition, and at this time, both sides received the promise of the secret envoy of the Ming State, thinking that their backers were stable, and then showed each other their faces that they wanted to fight with their strength.

Both sides had plans for this civil war, so they hit it off, and the two forces quickly gathered their clans to confront each other.

The tribes that supported the Duan clan amassed troops east of the Lancang River, and gathered 160,000 troops based on the capital of Dali.

Most of the tribes who supported Gaofang were mainly Baiman and other tribes, occupying the west of the Lancang River, with Tengchong Mansion as a stronghold, and gathered an army of 120,000.

In fact, both claim to have more than 100,000 troops, and anyone with a discerning eye knows that the water in this number is too large.

The total standing army of Dali over the years is no more than 50,000.

With the population of Dali, to feed a total of 280,000 troops, it is like a fantasy.

More than seventy percent of these numbers were actually just civilians who had just been recruited by the tribes, and some of them were not even equipped with armor.

Since both sides declare it to the outside world, they naturally will not use it to mock each other.

As a result, on the east and west banks of the Lancang River, a pattern of tense confrontation was formed.

At this time, Xu Shouren and Bailikang used the various shops they had resettled earlier to raise a large amount of grain and straw, and carried out large-scale support for their respective "support" targets.

In this era, where there is food, there are soldiers, and the people can give their lives to you for a bite to eat.

With the grain in Dali, the two sides have solved their worries, and a war to the death is imminent.

In order to avoid long nights and dreams, Xu Shouren secretly ordered the hidden meticulous work, and at the same time carried out large-scale destruction of various prefectures and counties in the two forces, and assassinated influential officials. (To be continued......)
