Chapter 348 348 Chinese Blue Helmets

To hold a military parade, basically everything must be planned in every detail. For example, in the live broadcast commentary of the military parade, many of the PLA's active equipment were officially announced, and there should be some pondering on the name. For example, J-9, J-10 or 052D, 055, etc., it is good to say that the equipment of the army is divided by year, for example, it is only eight or nine years at this time, and the opening is some bits and pieces, which are obviously not so reliable.

In fact, except for a few pieces of equipment within the army, most of them also have the name of the original version. The official name of the Type 99 main battle tank is the Type 85 main battle tank, but the name of the Type 99 Tan has been widely spread, and even some foreign industry insiders and military fans are also aware of it. There is even a military magazine abroad that speculates about what the Type 85 main battle tank is commonly known as the 99 Tan in China, and concludes that the Chinese think that the Type 85 main battle tank is still one point short of perfect, so it is called 99.

Some other equipment is basically minus 10 years or 20 years of processing, the Type 95 automatic rifle is officially called the Type 85 automatic rifle, and the Type 03 automatic rifle has become the Type 83, anyway, it is in the same vein as the Bayi bar, and it is not surprising that it is slightly earlier than the 95. The Type 05 submachine gun also became the Type 85 submachine gun, and the Type 04 automatic grenade launcher became the Type 84 automatic grenade launcher.

Then there are other army armored vehicles, Type 09 has been completely remodeled and is considered to be finalized this year, so it is called Type 89 infantry fighting vehicle, Type 03 paratrooper fighting vehicle becomes Type 83, Type 04 tracked infantry fighting vehicle is the original copycat BMP-1 Type 86 infantry fighting vehicle, Type 05 amphibious combat vehicle becomes Type 85 amphibious fighting vehicle. The PLZ-05 155mm self-propelled gun also knocked out the old PLZ-88, and the PLZ-07 122mm self-propelled gun was PLZ-87. The 25mm PGZ-04A self-propelled anti-aircraft gun also replaced the original twin 37mm PGZ-88 self-propelled anti-aircraft guns.

In this way, the equipment is highly concentrated in recent years, but this is also something that cannot be helped.

The various units participating in the Tiananmen parade have been selected, and then they will be gathered for training. It can be said that the PLA is the country that pays the most attention to the preparation of military parades, and many countries even prepare for military parades in the afternoon, and the next day begins like a garden party. Exposed to the scorching sun like the PLA, the angle of swinging arms and kicks is the same, and each soldier is even at a neat height, so he does not hesitate to put books on top of soldiers' heads and hang bricks on his calves.

Many people have criticized this as inhumane and formalistic, which is not wrong in a broad sense, but it is not a manifestation of professionalism and hard work.

As the director of the Strategic Security Bureau, Qi Yiming is basically a suggestion and guidance for the military parade, and he will not interfere in the specific details. He also had all sorts of things on his hands to worry about, both official and private.

Since China applied to the United Nations last year to restart UN peacekeeping operations within the borders of the world, it has always advocated actively intervening in regional turbulent disputes and sending peacekeeping troops to force a ceasefire between the two sides. It was around this time that the UN Security Council, after protracted debates and plans, finally allowed six countries, led by China, to send more than 2,000 "blue hats" to Cambodia to participate in the peacekeeping operation.

Unlike the other side of history, the peacekeeping operation was four years earlier, and at this time the Soviet Union had not yet collapsed, and the Vietnamese had not withdrawn their troops from Cambodia, so it can be said that China entered Cambodia under the banner of a United Nations peacekeeping operation, and many analysts and commentators believe that this is a means for China to further hammer Vietnam and stabilize its influence in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam, which has suffered repeated attacks by China on land and at sea, has realized that it is impossible to take advantage of China, and instead fears that its powerful neighbors will uproot them with a thunderbolt. In addition, after the Sixth National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1986, the pro-China Long March and Nguyen Van Linh came to power, so they gradually contracted their strategic confrontation with China. The Viet Cong began to actively use various means to convey messages to China, hoping to end the state of war between China and Vietnam, sign a peace treaty, and even carry out certain economic cooperation.

Because of the relationship between Qi Yiming, China is much more flexible on the issue of Vietnam, although Vietnam has shown a tone of wanting to make peace, but Qi Yiming does not have a cheap price to send it to the door himself, how to pinch the monkey should be the rabbit's own decision, want to make peace, want to fight, do you want to use the rabbit family as a sparring partner?

Qi Yiming gave several conditions: first, the demarcation of the Beibu Gulf, which he did not bully Vietnam too much, is basically similar to the half of the side demarcated by the other plane, there is another careful thinking here, in fact, the use of the sea completely depends on the control of sea power. Even if the Chinese fishermen cross the border, the Vietnamese dare to take care of it? The small wrecked ship came, and the Chinese law enforcement ship immediately appeared, and when the time came, will the Vietnamese care or not? Qi Yiming's South China Sea strategy has the intention of reducing Vietnam's maritime strategic space, and these are soft issues, which do not need to be solved through demarcation, otherwise they will look ugly and affect their image.

Like the United States, its territorial waters are only three nautical miles, and it seems that they are at a loss, but in fact, the United States has a strong maritime power, and the high seas are their playground, so the size of the territorial waters does not mean much to them. Qi Yiming also paid such attention.

During the demarcation, Qi Yiming also put forward a new demand, that is, to ask Vietnam to hand over Fushuizhou Island (Bailongwei). In 1957, the Rabbit family handed over the island to Vietnam for management, but at that time Vietnam was still North Vietnam, and it was a little brother supported by China. To put it simply, the revolutionary zeal and comradeship are so deep that we forget that the old man Marx told us to look at things from the perspective of development. Just because you're good at that time doesn't mean you'll be good in the future.

This request obviously displeased Vietnam, but if you think about it, they have already lost a lot of things, all the islands and reefs occupied in the South China Sea, and the territorial boundaries on the two sides. If you don't give it, anyway, the rabbit family will send some troops up on a whim one day to occupy Fushuizhou Island, and Vietnam still can't say anything.

Another requirement is that Vietnam recognize China's territorial sovereignty over islands within the nine-dash line and economic sovereignty over maritime areas. This condition is basically the same as taking the white dragon tail above, but this is a huge loss if you want to calculate it. Vietnam can no longer make any claims to the Paracel and Spratly Islands, and they are not allowed to conduct any economic activities within the nine-dash line.

The legal effect of the nine-dash line is now the last link in Vietnam. Malaysia was beaten to the sidelines, the new Nanyang Republic is a little brother country, naturally recognized, and the family is reasonably shared, the Philippines was pressured by the United States and China to send a little away, withdrew from Nansha and Zhongsha, although reluctantly, but also pinched its nose and recognized such a thing as a nine-dash line. Only Vietnam, a relevant country that is still at war, has not yet recognized the nine-dash line.

When this is done, then the nine-dash line is completely stabilized.

There are not many conditions, there are only three in total, but except for the first request, Vietnam can reluctantly accept it, and the last two requirements are to cut the flesh on the monkeys. Vietnam may not be able to use the South China Sea today, but Vietnam, with its long and narrow territory and lack of resources, will inevitably remain a small third-rate country without the pillars of the South China Sea.

Even if the Long March and others were pro-China, they would never dare to sell their national interests in exchange for peace, otherwise the Viet Cong would not want to get mixed up in the future.

At this time, Qi Yiming began to use various necessary tactics to put pressure on Vietnam. The Chinese peacekeepers' march into Cambodia was actually a blow to Vietnam's flank. Although it did not send many troops, China came with "great righteousness", and the banner of the United Nations was really useful, and it also pulled several other countries to follow it to engage in peacekeeping.

At the beginning, Qi Yiming was also very surprised that the Cambodian peacekeeping operation could pass, because according to the rules, the approval of the peacekeeping operation requires the approval of 9 of the 15 members of the United Nations Security Council, and none of the five major **** objected. The Soviet Union was still alive at this time, and Vietnam was still an ally of the Soviet Union, and Qi Yiming believed that the Soviet Union was still very likely to veto this plan that was unfavorable to Vietnam. Who knew that the Soviet Union was still playing the role of a convulsion, and actually abstained from voting on this matter, and the Cambodian peacekeeping operation was successfully passed.

By the way, on the Cambodian issue, the UN General Assembly also issued a resolution calling on Vietnam to withdraw its troops from Cambodia, negotiate and reach a reconciliation within Cambodia, and form a new government. Vietnam has been slow to make no response, and China, for its part, has vigorously put together the structure of the peacekeeping force.

Peacekeeping operations have two main characteristics, one is non-coercive and the other is distinctly neutral. At this point, though, it's hard to really maintain it completely. If the host country requests the withdrawal of the peacekeeping force, the peacekeeping force must respect the sovereignty of that country to withdraw. Of course, there is room for maneuver, for example, if the current Cambodian government is not recognized by the United Nations, then even if they ask for the withdrawal of peacekeeping troops, the United Nations can not hear it. The puppet Cambodian government, which has become untenable, has agreed to the peacekeeping operation and hopes to achieve a ceasefire and reconciliation, while the Vietnamese side is still struggling with what to do.

The six-nation joint peacekeeping force, escorted and carried by the Chinese Navy, soon landed in Cambodia and met no resistance from local forces, and the peacekeepers established their headquarters in Kampong Son (later renamed Sihanoukville). China sent the largest number of troops, with 2,000 troops, while other countries such as Canada, Pakistan, and Brazil sent hundreds of troops to dozens of troops. China not only sent a large number of troops, but also carried some weapons that were beyond the norm, and everyone turned a blind eye.

The Blue Helmets are mainly equipped with China's foreign trade weapons, they carry 60 6*6 VN-2 armored personnel carriers, and even 16 ST-1 105mm assault guns (09 infantry foreign trade VN-1 eight-wheeled chassis with 105mm main gun assault guns), hundreds of Dongfeng Mengshi military off-road vehicles, and some engineering vehicles and trucks.

In fact, it is impossible for the well-equipped and excellent combat effectiveness of China's peacekeeping forces to take the initiative to attack any side, and the main task is to deter, mediate, and supervise. To hold a military parade, basically everything must be planned in every detail. For example, in the live broadcast commentary of the military parade, many of the PLA's active equipment were officially announced, and there should be some pondering on the name.
