Six hundred and twenty-three. Attack the Fortress!!
Heisenberg saw a Russian soldier running out of a building, not a barracks, with a rifle in his hand, aiming into the darkness. Heisenberg shot him twice, and he fell headlong to the ground.
"Good marksmanship, friend." Edim said he was about ten feet away from Heisenberg. Heisenberg gave him a thumbs up and continued his search for the enemy.
In less than 10 minutes, the gunfire had subsided except for one barracks. The enemies in that building were the last to be attacked, so there was time to prepare.
Heisenberg saw a group of paratroopers on top of the barracks. One of them was holding what looked like an S24 grenade, with six grenade bodies strapped to it. He stumbled over the door and threw the grenade in, then he got up and ran away as fast as he could.
He did a great job. With a loud bang, green flames erupted from all the windows, and the walls made of metal plates twisted. Heisenberg was convinced that everyone in the house had been killed instantly.
Heisenberg saw several Russian soldiers walking out of another building with their hands held high, but they were immediately swept to the ground by a paratrooper. The commandos were given the order not to take prisoners.
With several barracks cleared, the German paratroopers concentrated on the main body of the fortress, where artillery and anti-aircraft guns were installed. For several hours, Edim and Heisenberg heard a steady stream of gunfire and grenade explosions coming from the passages of the fortress below. The assault team continued to search the courtyard below, until the paratroopers on the ground signaled that the courtyard had been cleared of enemies.
"We should go down and help them attack." Edim whispered.
Heisenberg shook his head. But I still climbed down with him. The two commandos loaded the MP40 submachine gun with new magazines and cautiously walked into a smoke-filled aisle behind the turret of the 220mm gun, which had been blown up by the paratroopers' hollow charge. The sound of fierce fighting continued downstairs. The commandos hurriedly joined the other paratroopers.
They finally made contact with a large group of paratroopers, and the commandos gestured to signal that the room below the hall was full of enemy soldiers.
Suddenly, a Russian soldier threw a grenade from around the corner, and a paratrooper swung his MP40 like a cricket, knocking the flying grenade back to where the Russians were. The grenade flew through the air and exploded in the hall. The German paratrooper nimbly pulled out an S24 grenade. After the fuse was sounded, he threw it into a room full of Russian soldiers. With the explosion of the grenade, he rushed to the door. Raise the submachine gun and sweep it away.
Another Russian soldier suddenly appeared in a corner of the hall with a rifle in his hand. He shot one of the paratroopers in the chest. Heisenberg quickly raised his gun and fired, and the bullet hit him in the chest. Both soldiers fell. A paramedic from the commando rushed to provide medical treatment to the paratroopers who had been shot.
The assault team came to an open field, where a bunker stood.
The bunker is not large. But it is made of reinforced concrete. This allows the people in the bunker to be fully protected against all types of attacks.
Inside the bunker was a Russian machine-gun crew, which opened heavy fire on the commandos, but did not hit the commandos.
Heisenberg heard the sound of bullets splashing around as they hit concrete walls and floors. Bullets screeched in the air. The enemy's machine guns were so close to Heisenberg that they could even hear brass shells falling to the ground. The air was filled with gunshots, bullet whistling, explosions, and screams. The silent fortress turned into a noisy battlefield in the blink of an eye. In addition to these sounds, Heisenberg could also feel the heat generated by the explosion and the flamethrower. The smoke was so thick that it was impossible to see from 10 meters away.
Heisenberg ran to the wall, picked up his gun, and opened fire. At the same time, another paratrooper threw a grenade around the corner at a Russian shooter. Heisenberg shot the shooter in the face. He fell. Before the enemy's bombardier could hide back around the corner, he was also hit by Heisenberg.
The grenade exploded, and a loud bang echoed through the concrete walls of the fortress.
The paratrooper who threw the grenade shouted: "Cover me!" ”
Heisenberg stood up and aimed at the enemy's machine-gun nest, and the paratrooper quickly rushed forward, throwing a grenade into the enemy's pillbox.
At that moment, he heard the sound of a rifle firing and bullets flying out of a small hole in a steel door at the back of the pillbox.
Heisenberg fired a shot at the shot hole and beckoned a paratrooper with a flamethrower to come over. The Pyro rushed over, and he spewed a tongue of fire from the hole in the steel door. The assault team heard screams and the sound of flames burning inside the house. Black smoke came out of that tiny hole.
Another paratrooper installed a hollow charge on the steel door, and the assault team quickly scattered to hide, and the explosive exploded. Before the enemy in the house could react, Heisenberg rushed in. The room was full of Russian soldiers who had been killed or dying.
There is also a door at the end of the room with a small shooting hole that allows you to fire into the aisle. Heisenberg looked through the perforation and saw several Russian soldiers rushing towards the door. Heisenberg immediately put the MP40 on the perforation and pulled the trigger on them. Heisenberg fired in a fully automatic manner, keeping the muzzle at chest height, turning the muzzle from side to side.
Several Russian soldiers fell to the ground after being shot, screaming in pain. The nimble paratrooper who had previously hit the grenade like a cricket ball pulled open the door and threw a grenade outside. He slammed the door shut, waiting for the grenade to explode. Then, he motioned for the others to follow, and he himself was the first to open the door and rush out.
The area that is opened by the doorway leads to the side of the mountain. Heisenberg saw a Russian soldier hiding around the corner, so Heisenberg quickly raised his gun and shot him in the chest. Heisenberg gave Heisenberg a new magazine for his MP40 submachine gun. Heisenberg began to like this weapon, which was very suitable for such operations due to its fast rate of fire, light weight and large magazine capacity.
He hurried to the next floor and saw a group of paratroopers blocked at a corner that led to a large room. He quickly joined up with the group of paratroopers, just when a Russian soldier threw a grenade at the commando from around the corner.
The commandos scattered and hidden, and then, with a loud bang, the grenade exploded. The agile paratrooper quietly ran over, pulling the fuse of the S24 grenade as he ran. He threw the grenade around the corner and picked up his MP40 submachine gun to get ready. After the grenade exploded, he pulled the trigger and swept it at the target. He then motioned for the others to follow.
In the next room, there were two circular perforations facing the assault team, and Heisenberg was immediately shot, but fortunately, no one was hit.
"Give me a hollow charge," said the nimble paratrooper, who held out his hand and the other paratrooper shoved one into him. He pulled the fuse and threw it around the corner. The hollow charge slammed into the iron door, making a metal crashing sound, and then snapped onto the iron door.
The explosion of the hollow charge was so powerful that the Russian soldiers let out screams. Heisenberg looked around the corner and saw that the iron door had been blown open. The assault team quickly rushed in, only to find that the defenders in the room had been killed.
Just then, Heisenberg heard several explosions coming from the next floor, accompanied by gunshots. The floor he was on had been cleared, so everyone cautiously walked down the stairs. The assault team saw two of the dead paratroopers lying at the foot of the stairs, wounded by bullets. In front of the staircase was a passageway, but this passage had been blocked, and the Russians had piled up a waist-high protective wall with sandbags and erected a heavy machine gun. Behind the sandbags lay three Russian soldiers, their bodies and the walls on both sides blackened with gunsmoke, apparently as a result of the grenade explosion.
Heisenberg saw several paratroopers shooting a little further down the aisle, but he couldn't see what they were fighting. Heisenberg rushed up, and one of the paratroopers motioned for him to wait. One of the commandos threw a grenade in the direction of the enemy, and everyone immediately retreated behind the wall to avoid the blast wave of the explosion. The grenade exploded, and at that moment, an oval grenade was thrown from the opposite direction, which landed in the middle of the assault team. Everyone immediately took cover, but several comrades were still injured.
"You two cover me." Said the nimble paratrooper who had previously killed several Russian soldiers.
He removed a long-handled grenade from the belt and unscrewed the lid. He hooked the fuse, but it didn't go off, and then, crouching down, ran forward. At this time, Edim and Heisenberg provided cover with fire from above his head.
Suddenly, a Russian soldier poked his head out of a distant corner, clutching a pistol in his hand. Edim's gun went off, and a bullet hole appeared in the forehead of the Russian soldier. Edim's aim and fire are done in a fraction of a second, which is amazing. The Russian soldier who had been killed fell to the ground, and Heisenberg could only see his right arm and head, with the rest of his body on the other side of the corner.
In the direction of the Russian soldier's probe, the agile paratrooper continued to reach the door. Heisenberg aimed his gun at the location where Edim hit the Russian soldiers, and Edim also took a careful aim.
Another Russian soldier leaned out of the corner, also holding a pistol. Two bullets hit him in the face at once, and the soldier dropped his pistol and fell. He screamed in shock and shrank back into the room.
The nimble paratrooper pulled the fuse, held the grenade and waited two seconds before throwing it around the corner. The grenade exploded, and many screams of pain rang out from inside the room.
A paratrooper with a flamethrower on his back rushed to the door. He didn't look inside the room, he pulled the trigger of the flamethrower directly into the room, and the flamethrower spat out a pillar of fire, drew a large arc, and rushed into the room. Several bullets hit the wall next to his head, but he missed. Mournful screams erupted in the room, and the Pyro quickly retreated behind Edim and Heisenberg. Black smoke from the room spread down the ceiling to the hallway.
"This must be another barracks!" Edim exclaimed, "There's still people alive inside!" (To be continued......)
