Chapter 512: Sticks and Devils Are Equally Hateful (Asking for Subscriptions, Monthly Passes, and Various!! )
The news of the great victory of the Northern Air Force under the jurisdiction of the Eighth Theater in the northeast and Korea and Chen Feng's joy spread far and wide, and suddenly congratulatory telegrams from all sides flew to Saibei like snowflakes, just like when Xiao Xiangxiang was born three months ago, but in addition to these good news, there are also some news that is disgusting.
On the morning of 21 November, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a news conference in Tokyo, at which Japanese Foreign Minister Yoyo Matsuoka complained to reporters from various countries in the world about the "atrocities" committed by Chen Feng's unit, and at the same time gave a briefing on the losses caused by yesterday's bombing at Lushunkou and other places.
In particular, Chen Feng's bombing of Pyongyang directly caused more than 10,000 Japanese civilian casualties, more than 10,000 Koreans were killed, countless property losses were caused, and the ancient walls of Pyongyang and the royal palace were also destroyed.
At the reception, Japanese officials released 70 photos, mostly of Pyongyang and Pusan, after the bombing, and most of them were North Koreans, except for some Japanese civilians. In the words of Matsuoka Yoyou, this bombing was a deliberate murder against the civilians of the Great Japanese Empire, and it was a deliberate revenge of the Shina people against the Great Japanese Empire.
The press conference quickly sent shockwaves through the world, killing and wounding more than 20,000 civilians in a single bombing, which was extremely rare at this time, and even the German bombing of the British mainland did not cause such heavy casualties. For a time, the news media in the United States, Britain, and other countries all accused Chen Feng's department of violating the humanitarian spirit, and the accusations suffered by the Japanese before were now borne by Chen Feng's department.
But. There are also some people who are not concerned about this, such as Germany and the Soviet Union, they are more concerned about what kind of bombers Chen Feng's air force is equipped with or what kind of bombs are used, and can achieve such great results, so the German government sent a telegram to Chen Feng behind their backs, hoping to introduce this new type of bomber and aerial bomb.
Under the deliberate propaganda and instigation of the Japanese government, the Korean Peninsula quickly triggered an anti-Chinese storm, just like the anti-Chinese movement in those countries in Southeast Asia in later generations, the Chinese in Korea were persecuted one after another, and their shops were smashed. The storm began in Pyongyang. Quickly spread throughout North Korea. It has caused extremely serious harm to the lives and property of overseas Chinese.
On the morning of November 22, the day after the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a press conference, dozens of North Koreans in the urban area of Pyongyang, North Korea, threw stones at shops and barbershops run by overseas Chinese. However, the local Japanese police department did not pay attention to this, let alone strictly stop it. Things quickly spiraled out of control. North Koreans are dropping leaflets everywhere. Meetings and gatherings. By about 11 o'clock in the afternoon, as many as 2,000 or 3,000 Koreans had gathered in front of the Korean Royal Palace, and the anti-Chinese riots began.
The rebellious Koreans beat up overseas Chinese when they saw them. All but one of the Chinese streets, all overseas Chinese shops, vegetable gardens, etc., were destroyed. At around 9 p.m., more than 10,000 North Koreans in Pyongyang, armed with wooden sticks, iron rods, knives and axes, searched for Chinese nationals.
As of 11 p.m. that night, a total of 87 overseas Chinese in Pyongyang had been killed, another 281 were injured, more than 120 shops had been smashed and burned, and property damage amounted to more than 200,000 yen.
Following the anti-Chinese riots in Pyongyang, anti-Chinese atrocities have also occurred in various parts of the DPRK. At 7 p.m. on the evening of November 23, the Seoul mob armed with sticks, sticks, knives, axes, stones, and other murder weapons, and carried flashlights, attacked the homes of overseas Chinese, regardless of the peasants and businessmen, and attacked in turn.
In just five hours, 308 overseas Chinese in Seoul were killed, 563 were injured, 13 were missing, and 5.8 million yen of property was lost. In addition to Seoul, there have been similar serious atrocities in Busan, Wonsan, Sinuiju and other places, such as beating overseas Chinese and burning overseas Chinese stores.
At the same time, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in Chongqing also lodged a protest with the Nationalist Government, demanding that the Nationalist Government intervene to stop the large-scale bombing of the cities and ports in the DPRK by Chen Feng, commander of the Eighth Theater of Operations, and demand compensation for the property losses of the DPRK.
Things changed dramatically in a short period of time, and just one big bombing completely pushed Chen Feng and the entire Eighth War Zone to the cusp.
When the news came, the atmosphere in Saibei Province suddenly became tense, and the festive atmosphere of Xidejiaer was also seriously affected.
In this regard, Chen Feng himself didn't have much thought, what does the death of North Koreans have to do with him Chen, in Chen Feng's opinion, the stick is as hateful as the devil.
This is not because Chen Feng is an angry young man, but because what North Koreans do is really hateful. Putting aside the all-encompassing plagiarism of later generations, but the actions of these sticks in the Sino-Japanese War are enough for Chen Feng to remember them.
In history, the most tragic massacre in human history that broke out in Nanjing was an eternal pain in the hearts of the Chinese people, and it was also a thorn in the hearts of all Chinese people that could never be removed! Many of us only know that Lu Dao hated and hated the Japanese, but we did not know that the first Japanese army unit in Nanjing that violated the Japanese military orders and began to defile Chinese women was precisely the Korean wing of Matsui Ishone's 15th Division.
Moreover, according to historical records, especially the war history data released by the Japanese government after the war, the proportion of Koreans in all the Japanese troops that captured Nanjing in 1937 was not low, and the highest was even as high as 40% Koreans. Many post-war Japanese memoirs mention the loyalty of Korean soldiers to Japan.
Some people say that Korea was annexed by Japan at that time, and there was no way. However, this is not a good excuse. Wasn't Taiwan annexed by Japan, and even earlier than North Korea? Compared with the Taiwanese, they were also incorporated into the Japanese army, but because they were not "brave" enough, they could only appear mostly as men and porters.
In Korea, in order to make up for the shortage of soldiers, after taking control of Korea, Japan pursued a series of policies to enslave Koreans, such as the "Imperial Nationality Movement" and "Changing the Surname of the Emperor." As with the consequences of Japan's similar policies in Taiwan, many Koreans were raised to be loyal subjects of Japan, volunteering to serve as Japanese soldiers and cannon fodder for the Japanese. According to the statistics of the Japanese Defense Agency in 1973, there were 1.6 million Korean soldiers and 380,000 in the puppet "Manchukuo" army of about 2.5 million Japanese troops invading China.
At the time of the Nanjing Massacre, five Japanese troops were rewarded by the Japanese king for their "bravery in battle", one of which was the "Korean Army", which was composed entirely of 30,000 Koreans. After the war, 148 Koreans were tried as "former Japanese soldiers" for "torture, killing, and ill-treatment of prisoners and ordinary citizens" and were convicted as Class B war criminals, 23 of whom were executed. The most incredible thing is that after Japan announced its surrender, no less than 100,000 Koreans committed suicide in various forms. But in the eyes of a U.S. military reporter, the Korean Peninsula in 1945 was full of weeping, wailing, and suicide, like the end of the world. He wrote in his diary: "What kind of country I have come, where I do not see a trace of joy at liberation, but as if I were in Japan, there are wailing, crying, and suicide everywhere."
Because of this, Chen Feng did not have any scruples when bombing, and in his opinion, there was not much difference between the North Koreans and the Japanese.
However, the development of events was beyond Chen Feng's expectations, especially the outbreak of a large-scale anti-Chinese movement on the Korean Peninsula, which is simply unforgivable. These sticks have tasted the sweetness, do you really think that you can be irresponsible for smashing, burning and looting the Chinese?
This is not the first time that North Koreans have excluded China, nor is it the last time. As early as July 3, 1931, because of the "Wanbaoshan Incident", a Korean anti-Chinese incident broke out.
Wanbaoshan is located 30 kilometers north of Changchun City, when the Japanese had not yet invaded the Northeast, and it was Zhang Xiaoliu who presided over the military administration of the Northeast. There is such a villain in Wanbaoshan, named Hao Yongde, who has leased a large amount of land in Wanbaoshan. Without the approval of the county government, he subleased the land to Lee Mou, a North Korean who had been exiled to China, for farming. These Koreans diverted water from the Yitong River, dammed the river, and dug ditches to irrigate the fields, flooding tens of thousands of acres of land belonging to nearby Chinese farmers.
On July 1, hundreds of victimized Chinese farmers spontaneously filled a section of the aqueduct. The next day, while the Chinese peasants were waiting to continue the leveling of the canal, the Japanese police opened open fire, killing several Chinese peasants, injuring dozens of others, and arresting more than 10 prisoners. Changchun's consul, Shigetoku Tashiro, dispatched police to support the opening of the canal by force, and the water was officially opened in November.
After the Wanbaoshan incident, Japan created public opinion in a big way, calling various newspapers in the DPRK to falsely accuse the Chinese authorities of expelling overseas Chinese nationals and that overseas Chinese peasants in Wanbaoshan had been massacred by Chinese peasants, and so on, and finally instigated a large-scale anti-Chinese incident in Korea. This incident first began in Inchon and quickly spread throughout the DPRK, causing extremely serious harm to the lives and property of overseas Chinese. In addition to Incheon, similar atrocities such as beating overseas Chinese and burning overseas Chinese shops have also occurred in Seoul, Pyongyang, Busan, Wonsan, Sinuiju and other places. Many overseas Chinese had no choice but to cross the border and return to China. The overseas Chinese who returned to China "all had their heads broken and bloody, and they had no long things, and they were embarrassed and unspeakable."
Due to the weakness and incompetence of the Nationalist Government at that time, and the fear of becoming a pretext for Japan to attack Tohoku, the Nationalist Government chose to remain silent. This time Chen Feng encountered this kind of thing, and it was because of him that he caused this kind of atrocity, which he couldn't ignore. (To be continued......)
