Chapter 170: Sacrifice
Chapter 170: Sacrifice
As soon as the fire cover of the more devils stops, it is time for our army to exert its might.
Of course, the soldiers of the fourth company were not stupid, and as soon as there were fewer bullets flying directly above their heads, they quickly knew that they should do it, so they waited for a grenade to explode and put their guns in the trenches...... "Boom" fired a volley of bullets at the Yue devil lying on the ground.
Almost at the same time, two more flares rose into the sky...... Now the Vietnamese troops who charged on the inclined plane were miserable, not to mention that they lost their fire cover, and they were exposed to the guns of our army like targets.
Soon after, there was a burst of gunfire, and the AK47s hit the approaching enemy, and the light machine guns, heavy machine guns, and anti-aircraft machine guns aimed at the follow-up units of the Vietnamese army, and swept violently, only to make the Vietnamese soldiers fall to the ground in pieces like harvested rice.
Merely...... The group of Vietnamese devils located in front of our army's trenches were not easy to deal with.
These Yue devils are the troops lurking in the corpses and preparing to sneak attack our army's position. Obviously, if they were not elite soldiers, the Vietnamese commander would not have sent them to lurk in our positions. Therefore, they can be said to be the elite soldiers of the elite soldiers, even under the series of blows of our army, they still continue to lie on the front line of the position in a panic and wait for an opportunity......
It should be said that this trick is very effective, and the reasons come from:
One is that the rows and rows of grenades thrown out by our army before stirred up a lot of smoke and dust in front of the position, so even if there is a light from the flares, it is a blur.
The other is because there are too many corpses in front of this position, and the more devils just lie on their stomachs and do not move...... Then no one knows whether he is alive or dead. Moreover, the Vietnamese army also consciously used the corpses and the terrain to cover up, so don't look at the submachine guns of our troops. But most of the bullets were blocked by corpses.
"Bang!" That's when the rifle in my hand rang out.
My target, of course, was not the charging Vietnamese troops. Although there are a lot of them. But I knew that compared to them, the Vietnamese troops lurking motionless in front of the position were more dangerous, and this part of the Vietnamese army was like a time bomb, which would burst out at the slightest opportunity.
I shot a Vietnamese soldier who was lying motionless, and I knew he was a living man and not a corpse because his thigh was still bleeding...... A dead man certainly doesn't bleed, so he's a living man.
I admired his perseverance and ability to stay motionless on his stomach even with a thigh injury...... However, there are many Vietnamese troops like this in the 316A Division. What's more, he is still the elite of the 316A Division.
Just admiration and admiration, I still didn't hesitate to pull the trigger, so the next second...... He really became a dead man.
"Bang!" A single bullet killed a lurking Vietnamese soldier again.
It should be said that this Vietnamese soldier is still a bit of a brain, and in order to hide himself more secretly, he deliberately put the arm of a corpse on his head......
It's a very good disguise, and it can fool most people's eyes, but most people don't include me.
What he didn't expect was ...... The face of the corpse he had used was already swollen from the corruption, and his own face was nothing unusual except for a little blood.
So it is clear that these are two "corpses" with very different times of death. Since the time of death is so different, of course, it is impossible to put a hand on his head...... Unless he did it on purpose.
So one of my bullets turned him into a real corpse.
"Bang!" Another bullet came out of the chamber of my gun.
It was a coincidence that the target was discovered this time...... The moment the flare was about to hit the ground, a reflection caught my attention.
As a sniper. Mirror reflections like this always make me nervous, because it almost means that another sniper is pointing a gun at you.
So I retracted my head and changed positions at the first moment...... When I raised my rifle again and aimed it at that position. It turned out that it was just a false alarm: the light was reflected by a telescope, a telescope wrapped in blood-stained rags.
Its owner, apparently an officer, had taken it out and placed it not far from his head while lying on the ground in order to hold a dead body...... You must know that the telescope is generally hung around the neck, and the telescope will naturally be pressed against the chest when lying on the ground, which of course will be very uncomfortable. But of course, the dead man would not care about this discomfort, and he would not be able to take the telescope out from under him......
Perhaps, he thought it was just a small action that no one would notice, but it cost him his life.
I wondered in my heart while fighting, what are these devils waiting for?
Their lurking has been discovered, hasn't they? Being found means that our army will not send any suspicious corpses, so the longer it drags on, it means that it is not good for them, right?
At this moment, the flare fell unwillingly to the ground, and its zuihou light was lost......
I only felt a darkness in front of my eyes, and then I understood what these lurking Vietnamese soldiers were waiting for...... They were waiting for this moment.
The human eye will have a kind of adaptation, one is dark adaptation, and the other is light adaptation. Put simply, when the light suddenly changes from dark to light or from light to dark, it takes a short period of time for the eyes to adjust to this transition.
And now...... What we are facing is a shift from light to dark.
Although it was only a few seconds, the Vietnamese troops were only a few dozen meters away from us, and these few seconds were enough time for the Vietnamese troops to rush to a distance that threatened the safety of our position.
Some might say...... Our army needs time to adapt to the sudden change in light, so the Vietnamese army doesn't need it?
This is also the cleverness of the Vietnamese army, if their eyes have been closed and not stimulated by the light of the flares, then of course there is no need for this period of dark adaptation...... Or that they will need a much shorter time to adapt to darkness than we do.
So, they only need one or two people to wait with their eyes open, waiting for the moment when the light of the flare fades to give a signal.
Sure enough, at the moment when my soldiers and I opened our eyes blindly, we heard the Vietnamese soldiers in front of the position shouting: "Rush! ”……
I could only pull the trigger by feeling the blurred figure in front of me, but I can imagine that it would not have much effect, and I couldn't help but cry out in my heart...... The soldiers of the 447th Regiment are not like the soldiers of our company, and many of the weapons in their hands are 56 and a half, which directly leads to the fact that the firepower of our army is not enough to blindly shoot to block the charge of the Vietnamese army.
Just as I expected, it was in these few seconds that the Vietnamese army rushed into the range of our fire defenses, and then they invariably ignited their grenades and threw them at our trenches......
By this time, our shili had almost recovered, but all we saw was grenades flying towards us with green smoke.
At that moment, my mind went blank, and I only thought of two words: It's over!
The reason I'm so negative is because I've noticed that the more devils are still in their hands for a moment before throwing these grenades...... Needless to say, its purpose is to prevent our soldiers from turning back.
This series of actions of the Vietnamese army seems simple, but in fact, it is done in one go without any flaws. Even in order to save time, they almost ignited the grenade from the moment they jumped up from the lurking place and charged towards our position, and then they quickly rushed forward with the grenade in their hands, and when the grenade delay time was almost up, they just rushed into the bomb throwing range......
These few seconds were fully utilized by the Vietnamese army, and it is conceivable that they had undergone countless training before the war to be as proficient and consistent as they are now, and they had just the right amount of time.
What our army lacks is the kind of training that the Vietnamese army has, so we have to suffer, so now it seems that we can only watch those grenades fly into the trenches...... It is not difficult to imagine what happened next, and the Vietnamese army would rush up with the aftermath of the grenade explosion and end our lives with automatic weapons or bayonets in their hands.
A grenade landed right next to me, and I knew it was too late to dodge or throw back, so I exhaled and waited quietly.
I didn't know that I felt a sense of relief at this time, perhaps, for every soldier on the battlefield, sacrifice is not a pain, but a relief.
But that moment did not come as I had imagined, and a fighter swooped down on the grenade with his body under my stunned eyes......
There was a muffled "boom", and the soldier was blown up more than a meter in front of my eyes, and then fell down again.
I hurriedly crawled to his side and turned over to see that his stomach had been blown up, and white intestines and internal organs were flowing everywhere, but he had not yet lost his breath, his whole body was convulsed, and his eyes were wide open to look at me...... He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say Zuihou's last words, but he didn't say anything.
I gritted my teeth, put him down, drew my pistol, and pointed at the trench.
I knew that now was not the time to check on his injuries, and that there were at least five fighters around him who were unscathed by his sacrifice. His time was all earned by him, and if he didn't use it well, his sacrifice would be meaningless.

I would like to use this chapter to pay tribute to Comrade Wang Muzhou, the platoon commander of the 493rd Company of the 6th Company! In the counterattack against Vietnam, Comrade Wang Muzhou resolutely used his body to suppress the grenade thrown by the enemy for the safety of the lives of the soldiers around him, and died heroically! Later, he was awarded the title of "Battle Hero" by the Central Military Commission. After the sacrifice, he was buried in the Pingxiang Nanshan Martyrs Cemetery. (To be continued......)
