Chapter 35 Training

The month-long training soon began.

Just as we have decided before, this training is no longer about developing in the direction of new tactics, but about trying to integrate the air forces newly added to our army into the combat system of the composite battalion.

This may not sound difficult at first glance...... Isn't it just to join the helicopter, and let this thing be pulled out with the previous classes to practice!

But it's not that simple!

If we want to integrate helicopters into our combat system, the first thing we need to do is good communication......

There is no doubt about this, because only good communication can enable effective coordination between helicopters and ground forces...... Our ground troops are sometimes easy to talk to, for example, if the communication equipment fails, we can send a communicator to make a notification, or wave the signal flag to give a few gestures or something, but helicopters ...... If communication is lost, it is basically a separate battle with the ground forces.

And communication equipment is definitely a short board for our army in this era...... Just like the communication equipment on our tanks, the command vehicle must be equipped with three antennas, one to contact the superiors, one to the subordinates, and one to contact the infantry......

In other words, these communication devices are one-way, and a communication device can only contact one part...... Now it's not just about the infantry, it's about the air power...... This is troublesome, the tank has to be equipped with four antennas, and it is quite inconvenient to link them...... This side is to contact the infantry, and this side is to the superiors......

If this is in normal times, then it may be clear. As soon as the news of the war increased, it became nervous...... I'm afraid it's going to be a mess.

But fortunately, this problem is not unsolvable...... That is, to separate this liaison, and to add two deputies to each tank company, one to liaise with the infantry and the other with the air force.

Although this will make the command structure larger and the command system more sluggish, it will be a weak communication condition, but there is no way to do it!

Secondly, on the issue of the assignment of tasks for helicopters......

This point is quite easy to solve, because we have experience in fighting Soviet helicopters in Afghanistan, so at this time we only need to recall what Soviet helicopters did and how to do it!

The most basic is reconnaissance.

Helicopters have a unique advantage over high-altitude and high-speed reconnaissance planes. That is, the helicopter can carry the scout wherever he wants...... So it is possible to carry out a long period of time on suspicious targets. At close range, even if conditions permit, scouts can be put on the ground by means of airplane landing, rope rappelling, etc., to conduct more detailed reconnaissance or complete some necessary preliminary tasks.

The second is to carry the infantry for maneuvering......

Needless to say, mobile combat is a major characteristic of the modernized troops, and this point is to follow the original footboard. to cars and motorcycles. to armored vehicles...... Now they are flying into the sky without being restricted by the terrain!

Finally, there is fire cover!

This task is not difficult for us...... I'm used to seeing it on the battlefield in Afghanistan. When the infantry is rappelling, the fire cover is to protect the helicopter itself, and when it is coordinated with the infantry, it is to cooperate with the ground forces to suppress the enemy's firepower, and even go around the rear of the enemy's defense line to carry out a surprise attack......

The difficulty is ...... Pilots have no relevant experience!

On the one hand. Pilots used to do this kind of work as forest guards, fire prevention and air drivers...... In other words, they have never been on the battlefield at all, and some of them can't even distinguish the various guns and firing ranges of the infantry before......

It sounds like a small thing, but it's actually a big thing on the battlefield...... Because if you are not familiar with firearms and do not know the performance of these equipment, you will not be able to distinguish which firepower points are a threat to yourself and which are a threat to the infantry, and it is easy to turn a battle into a kind of indiscriminate fighting without a target at all.

This allowed us to spend a full week training the pilots on firearms and equipment...... The reason why it takes a week is because this training is not just a simple training, but allows the pilots to actually distinguish in the air!

The so-called practical distinction means that our infantry simulates a battlefield on the ground, and then fires various weapons in it, allowing the pilots to judge various firing points in the air.

Of course, this is considered from the perspective of actual combat, because actual combat is to distinguish various firepower points under such conditions.

Another difficulty is that this thing has just come out...... The aiming system is not very perfect, and the pilot has not been trained in airborne shooting before, so the hit rate is really not flattering...... Sometimes the infantry pointed at a pillbox for the helicopter to hit, only to have a "whoosh" volley of rockets come by...... The pillbox did not lose a single hair, and only blew up the infantry on the ground so that they lay on the ground and did not dare to move......

After returning, all the infantry shouted and woke up: "Mother! The rocket exploded just a dozen meters in front of us, and we were not glorious on the battlefield, but almost died on this training ground! ”

Because of this lesson, we no longer dare to let the infantry get too close to the target......

What do you say about this question? Everyone who has come here knows it...... Sharpshooters are not trained in a day, they are fed with bullets. So I believe ...... As long as the pilots play and practice more, it will be a great improvement in a month!

Take a step back and say...... Even if there is no great improvement, it doesn't matter, it's just a drill...... We still have time to practice!

But what I didn't expect was ...... Before it was time for the exercise, we were given a chance to train our troops......

"Battalion commander!" On this day, when I was busy training, Zhao Jingping came to report to me: "Comrade Yang Xianjian's side has a problem!" ”

"Huh? What's the problem? I asked, "Is it a matter of funding?" ”

At this juncture, I don't want to affect the army's business because of this personal matter, but I know it...... If it weren't for something very important, Yang Xianjin wouldn't have called us for help!

"It's not!" Zhao Jingping shook his head and said, "I heard that it is...... A bunch of hooligans in the provincial capital, what are they going to collect...... Protection Fee...... Zheng Jiayi and a few people refused, so they fought, and we injured a few people! ”

"What?" When I heard this, I couldn't help but get angry and charged protection money...... He also injured a few of us! (To be continued......)
