The previous article mentioned the arsenal set up by Zhang Zhidong in Hanyang, Hubei, after the author verified that the name of the factory in the late Qing Dynasty was Hubei Gun Factory in the early days, and in the 3rd year of the Republic of China (1914), it was changed to the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of War and renamed Hanyang Arsenal.

Addendum: Hubei Gun Bureau (later Hanyang Arsenal) In 1889, after the end of the Sino-French War, Zhang Zhidong was transferred to the governor of Huguang. During the war, Zhang Zhidong had enough of the pain of foreign businessmen taking the opportunity to raise prices in the procurement of ordnance, and began to actively plan to open a gun factory after taking office. In 1890, Zhang Zhidong moved the Guangdong Gun Factory to Hubei and began to establish the Hanyang Gun Factory. Li Hanzhang (the younger brother of Li Hongzhang, the minister of Beiyang), who was the governor of Liangguang at the time, claimed that he had no money and was unwilling to pay the upfront expenses of the gun factory, and demanded that the preemptive field be set up in Tianjin, and that the copper wire generation could use the coal resources in Tangshan (in fact, it was for the convenience of his brother Li Hongzhang). Zhang Zhidong insisted on the location of the factory, insisting that it should be set up in Hubei, on the grounds that it was more reasonable for the gun factory and the steel factory to be set up together, and the production of iron ore in Daye County, Hubei Province, was eventually adopted by the Qing court.

Zhang Zhidong has always adhered to the principle of "new style of machine, expensive steel self-refining", so all the energy in the early stage was focused on Hanyang Iron and Steel Plant. It is recorded that in 1889~1892, the Hanyang Iron Works embezzled a total of 1.83 million taels of funds from the gun factory, resulting in the gun factory being unable to operate for a long time due to lack of funds. In the summer of 1894, the gun factory was hit by fire, and all the building and equipment were burned down. Zhang Zhidong, who had been reappointed as the governor of Liangjiang, was severely reprimanded, and then rebuilt the gun factory under pressure from all sides. In 1895, the repair plant began trial production, and then through the efforts of Zhang Zhidong, a steel mill and a rolling mill were added. By 1898, the Hanyang Gun Factory had a gun factory, a gun factory, a gun and ammunition factory, a shell factory, a steel mill, and a steel rolling mill. In 1898, the production capacity began to explode in full force, and by 1910 a total of 13 Hanyang-made products were produced. 60,000 sticks, 63 million bullets, and 330,000 pounds of smokeless gunpowder.

The German-made 1904 type 75 mm tube retreat field gun equipped by the Beiyang Army has a body diameter of 30 and a maximum firing range of 7,300 meters, and the subsequent introduction of the 1910 type 29 times diameter 75 mm mountain gun has a firing range of 5,980 meters.
