Chapter 370: Get Him
Both Dzungaria and Mobei Mongolia are big troubles, especially Dzungaria, because it is too far away.
Not only is it far, but it's complicated. As early as the thirteenth year of Chongzhen, the princes and nobles of the Moxi Erlut Mongol tribes and the Khalkha Mongol tribes of Mobei held a joint meeting in Tarbagatai, and the title of the Dzungar tribe officially appeared at the alliance meeting. Later, under the governance of Batur Huntaiji, the Dzungar Ministry gradually developed.
After the establishment of the Later Jin regime, the Mongol tribes of Monan successively belonged to the Later Jin. And elected Huang Taiji as the successor of the Mongol Great Khan, and presented the "Bokeda. Chechen Khan" (i.e., Emperor Kuan Wen Rensheng). In the same year, Huang Taiji took the throne of the emperor and changed the name of the country to Qing. Soon, the Mongol tribes in Mobei also paid tribute to the Qing Dynasty one after another. In 1637, Gushi Khan, the leader of the four Mongol tribes of Moxi Erut and the Shuote tribe, sent an envoy to Huang Taiji. Soon after, Gushi Khan paid tribute, and the Qing government gave him armor and bows and arrows, and made him govern the Erlut tribes. In this way, in addition to the territory of Southern Mongolia, which belonged to the territory of the Qing Dynasty, Northern Mongolia and Western Mongolia also submitted to the Qing Dynasty.
In Zhou Huchen's memory, later the Dzungar leader Galdan was frenzied and openly rebelled with the support of Tsarist Russia, as if it was started in the Kangxi period, this rebellion went through three dynasties, and after 70 years, the rebellion finally ceased, and the Qing court achieved complete victory.
This is not allowed, no matter which tribe it is, if it is too strong, it will get out of control, Zhou Huchen does not allow this kind of loss of control, so he must send troops. This time, not only must Mobei Mongolia completely surrender, but Dzungaria must also surrender, otherwise it will be a river of blood.
The grassland climate is the most haode season, and Zhou Huchen sent troops.
Some of the Mongol cavalry in Monan retreated, and most of the leaders also retreated, because they wanted to consolidate Hulunbuir's territory, and at the same time distribute Hulunbuir's huge territory.
Although the Mongol cavalry in Monan was doubled, Zhou Huchen did not have to worry about their combat effectiveness. When the Mongol tribes fought, they would not be soft at all because of the same language and the same race, and the steppe peoples relied on strength to speak. The reason is also simple, one is that all the Mongolian tribes need to strengthen themselves; Second, in the minds of the Mongols, it is more of a tribal concept, so the former Jianzhou people have a gap to take advantage of, divide and rule. Now it's Zhou Huchen's turn, and the Mongols are actually very easy to rule, because none of the leaders wants to lose the halo on their heads. In order to maintain their title of leader, these tribal leaders did not dare to sacrifice their lives if they wanted to.
It's easy to send troops. To the west is a smooth road, and apart from the river, there is not much obstacle to the territory of the Chechen Khan. But the distance is a little far, less than a thousand miles west is the territory of Tushetu Khan.
The team was huge, and along the way, it caused panic in the territory of the Chechen Khan tribe.
The grassland is vast, the grass is blue and the sky is blue, the scenery is beautiful, but there is always aesthetic fatigue, and this kind of day marching in the grassland is very boring. A full eight days later. The army led by Zhou Huchen approached Urg (Ulaanbaatar).
Urg is the central city of Tushetu Khan, Urge is also called Kulun, which means "palace" in Mongolian, and is the residence of Jebzunba, the "living Buddha" of Khalkha Mongolia.
The army stopped on the banks of the Tula River. Tushetu Khan seemed to be prepared, and Zhou Huchen wanted to meet a lama, a lama of high status.
In order to prepare, Zhou Huchen hurriedly learned about Tibetan Buddhism from Shuo Lei's subordinates.
Jebzunpa is the largest reincarnation of the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Jebtsundamba is a Tibetan transliteration, and the Chinese translation is "Zunsheng". In the 42nd year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, the fourth Dalai Lama sent the monk Doranatha to Mobei to preach, and was honored by the Mongolian Khan as "Jebzundamba". In the seventh year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty, Doranatha died in Kulun. At this time, the Khalkhatu Shetu Khan's family happened to give birth to a son, so he was recognized as the reincarnation of Taranatha, and when he grew up, he entered Tibet to study the Dharma. He first went to Shigatse in Tibet to pay homage to the 4th Panchen Lama, and then went to Lhasa to meet the 5th Dalai Lama, two years before and after. Since Jebtsundampa is the reincarnation of Taranatha, he belongs to the Jonang school of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. After the Qing Dynasty, the Kagyu faction declined due to the overthrow of the Zangpa Khan, who supported the Kagyu sect, and was replaced by the Gelug sect supported by the Qing government. So when the 1st Jebtsundampa was about to return to his homeland, the 5th Dalai Lama offered to convert him to the Yellow Religion, and he readily agreed. It can be seen that although Jebtsundampa was reincarnated from a Kagyu monk, he converted to the Yellow Sect from the first Jebtsundampa.
The Yellow Sect advocated the cycle of life and death and the retribution of good and evil, advocated that the Buddha should be honored in this life and accumulate goodness, and that the next life could be achieved with positive results, and claimed that the Mongolian nobleman, Noyan, was reborn as a righteous lord by doing good deeds in the previous life, and was equal to the status of a "god". These teachings were naturally in the interests of the Mongol aristocracy; On the other hand, the reason why the toiling masses in an oppressed and exploited position are impoverished and bullied is also the result of their actions in previous lives, and they have received evil retribution in this life for their evil deeds. To a certain extent, it can make the working people endure and obey and give up the struggle to reform real life, which is conducive to consolidating the rule of the feudal lords of Oirat, and is more in line with the needs of the rulers than the shamanism originally respected by the Mongols, so it has been advocated by the feudal lords such as Oirat.
Soon after, the Yellow Religion of Tibet was gradually introduced to all tribes, and the appearance of the entire Moxi and Mobei Mongolia was greatly changed, entering a new era.
The Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama were both supported and confirmed by the Qing court, and the Gelug school was one of the major schools of Tibetan Buddhism, which only emerged in the 15th century. As soon as it arose, it quickly replaced the status of other sects and became the sole protagonist of Tibetan Buddhism in the later period, and it has an important position that no sect can achieve in the history of Tibetan social development. The style of study, which attaches equal importance to study and practice, has made it the most influential sect in Tibetan Buddhism. Since it appeared at the latest, it has absorbed almost all the teachings of the previous schools of Tibetan Buddhism, such as the famous Sakya Thirteen Golden Dharma, the Kagyu Mahamudra, the Nyingma Tantric Matou Mingwang, the Kadam Sixteen Bright Points (also known as the "Sixteen Drops"), the Kalachakra of Shalu, the Dharma-Breaking Teachings of the Enlightenment, and so on.
The four major living Buddha reincarnation systems of the Yellow Sect are the Dalai Lama, Panchen Erdeni, Zhangjia Hutuketu, and Jebtsundamba Hutuketu. And these four living Buddhas each have their own missionary territory, which can be regarded as a balance of religious territory.
Zhou Huchen is now facing the envoy of Jebzundan Bahutuktu, Chongzhen seven years, Doranatha passed away, the following year, the Khalkha Khan kings identified in the eighth year of Ming Chongzhen in the Khalkha Department of Tushetu Khan Gunbu Dorji son Zhanabazar as his reincarnation, the Dharma name Lobsang Danbei Gyaltsen. He was appointed King of the Dharma.
In other words, the Living Buddha of Jebtsundamba is actually an aristocratic system, especially for Tushetu Khan, religion plus military liliang is more conducive to rule.
Get him.
This should be Zhou Huchen's goal, as long as the living Buddha of Jebtsundamba accepts the canonization of the Ming court, the war in Outer Mongolia will stop.
The one who came to negotiate with Zhou Huchen was Urge's Gaden Tri Rinpoche, which means the Gelug presiding, that is, the old lama was the second-in-command among the Urg monks.
In the past, Zhou Huchen never believed in ghosts and gods, but since he was fooled by that card master Trist to the Ming Dynasty. His mind was shaken, because the "flag of command" was effective. This "banner of command" can be said to be invincible, Zhou Huchen is very cool, with money, power, and beautiful women.
Zhou Huchen didn't know what to call the senior monk in front of him, in order to show respect, he simply clasped his palms together: "I've seen the master." ”
"Welcome to Urg the most honorable laymen!"
The old lama is very personable, his expression is full of solemnity, which can be said to be very in line with the identity of a high monk.
And layman seems to be a kind of general term for monks to the outside world. This is no exception, and the most important thing is that the old lama added the three words of the most noble in front of it. Because Zhou Huchen does have a special status, except for a lot of official titles. He was also the emperor's son-in-law.
The etiquette is simple, the old lama raised his hands flat, and then bent down to hold Fenghada in his own hands, and Zhou Huchen took it with both hands. The old lama was not qualified to bring Hada to Zhou Huchen. Because this is a kind of etiquette, Zhou Huchen is equivalent to an envoy of the Celestial Empire, plus his noble status. How dare the old lama cross it.
Entering the tent, Zhou Huchen stretched out his hand: "Master, please take a seat." ”
Coming to this shijie has already negotiated with many people, this is the first time to negotiate with a monk, Zhou Huchen is extra careful. Religion is the carrier of politics, especially in uncivilized areas such as the Mongolian steppe, the people's beliefs are extremely strong, and the lama must not be offended, otherwise it will be a big trouble, and you will never have peace. It's better to be respectful to the gods and Buddhas, and they shouldn't suffer.
The so-called please sit is to kneel cross-legged on a gorgeous felt carpet, Zhou Huchen followed the customs, he sat opposite the old lama with difficulty, and there was an interpreter on each side of the two.
"Would you like to go to Urg's palace?" The wrinkles on the old lama's face were solemn, and after a few kind words, he immediately got into the subject.
Urge is the nest of Tushetu Khan, how can Zhou Huchen risk his life: "Ben Shuai is just here to chase the fleeing enemy, I heard that they are not in Urge, you can go or not, since it is the temple of the living Buddha, how dare you offend, Ben Shuai is more appropriate to go around." ”
Where does this mean a detour, it is completely a siege of Urg. Zhou Huchen's troops were too strong, and the cavalry that came with Zhou Huchen was already in the fortified wilderness, and the cavalry of Tushetu Khan Gomb Dorji was chased only by the helpless trembling around Urge.
It was not that Tushetu Khan's cavalry did not dare to fight, but that the disparity in strength was too great. But they didn't dare to give up Urge, after all, this is the foundation of the Gelug sect Jebtsundamba and Tushetu Khan, once they flee, the herdsmen of the entire Tushetu Khan's territory will lose their faith, and he will also lose the hearts of the people, which is completely helpless.
The old lama was very calm, and he still asked with a bitter face: "Can the honorable commander say that he is the one who escaped from Hulunbuir?" ”
Very wise, this old lama did not mention the issue of Zhou Huchen's army, but aimed at the fleeing enemy that Zhou Huchen said.
I am very unkind, I let the Mongols occupy Hulunbuir, but this is a kind of invasion that cannot be explained, Zhou Huchen has a way, his expression became serious: "Ben Shuai heard that the biggest enemy of our dynasty, the slave chief of Jiannu, Fulin, is under the cover of these Hulunbuir people, so there is a matter of attacking Hulunbuir." Now Hulunbuir's Seleng and Karma and others continue to flee to the west under the cover of the slave chieftain, and Ben Shuai has to continue to go west to pursue in order to give an explanation to Bixia and thousands of people of the Ming Dynasty. ”
Full of guns!
Says who? No one has ever said that Fulin fled into the prairie, Zhou Huchen is looking for an excuse, and this excuse is very real.
But the old lama's face did not change, he wisely bypassed this question and returned to the first topic: "If the living Buddha moves, it will cause a commotion among the herdsmen under his rule, and the marshal does not want to enter Urge, but the living Buddha needs a golden book, can the marshal bring it?" ”
I can't stand the commotion, in fact, I'm here to compromise!
Zhou Huchen's head instantly became clear, and his tone became more polite: "Master, please rest assured, there will naturally be a golden book, the living Buddha is still a living Buddha, Tushetu Khan is still Tushetu Khan, and the imperial court will also trade with Tushetu Khan, everything will be fine, but Ben Shuai needs a letter from the living Buddha." ”
Naturally, the meaning of getting better is that Zhou Huchen will not continue to attack, which can be regarded as a promise. At the same time, he asked the living Buddha of Zhanabazar to give a written agreement, which was more secure, because Zhou Huchen would not dare to break his trust if he had evidence, otherwise his credibility of the living Buddha would be seriously damaged among the herdsmen.
The old lama seemed to be prepared, and he responded very happily: "Please take the army." ”
"Naturally! Ben Shuai is waiting for the echo of the living Buddha! Zhou Huchen stood up and folded his hands, which can be regarded as the end of this conversation.
The old lama stood up and saluted: "Someone will come to talk to the marshal in detail tomorrow, and the old man will say goodbye." ”
Seeing off the old lama, Zhou Huchen was immersed in a comfortable mood.
Religion that can never be ignored! It's too easy to take in! Isn't the Banner of Command able to exert its power again? (To be continued......)
