For example, altitude sickness, which is common among the fighters, improved immediately when we descended to an altitude of 3,000 meters, and many fighters went from a sick and wilting state to a vigorous state after only two days.

Another example is the problem of different bullet offsets due to thin air...... This has formed a conditioned reflex for the fighters, which is deeply imprinted in the minds of the fighters, and it is difficult to change it for a while.

There is no trick to this, just feed it with bullets as you did when you first started practicing shooting, and when you hit too much, a new conditioned reflex will naturally form in your mind.

This may be difficult for the troops of the 319th Division to do...... Feed with bullets, where did you get so many bullets on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, it's good to have a few live shots a year.

First of all, the development of this plateau is extremely backward, and the living conditions of the common people are not good, which makes our army not only have to transport bullets and shells, but also food and other daily necessities have to be transported from the interior, and this has brought great pressure to logistics.

The second is that transportation only relies on a few simple roads for thousands of miles...... At this time, there were no railways, and there were not even roads near the war zone, and transportation was entirely dependent on human or animal power.

According to Staff Officer Li, during the self-defense counterattack against India in '62, the entire Eastern Theater had only 60,000 tons of military supplies. The amount of ammunition it carries is basically enough for us to practice.

Within a few days, the fighters had almost adapted to the new offset, and it could even be said that a considerable number of men had better marksmanship than they had been on the plains.

It's easy to see why...... The thin air has less resistance to the bullet, which means that the ammunition is straighter or more accurate and has a longer range. On the plains, the 81 bar, which has a range of only 400 meters, is not a big problem to hit 450 or even 500 meters on this plateau.

This is especially true for SVD sniping, but these can only be established in windless conditions.

After training like this, it only took more than a month for us to go to Base 3 again.

What makes me a little strange is that there has been no fighting on the Sino-Indian border since 62, and it has been more than 20 years now, which means that this battalion should not have much actual combat experience.

But in fact, on the contrary, the 1st Battalion demonstrated their rich combat experience in training everywhere, especially in mountain tracking and combat.

Later, I learned that the first battalion had indeed participated in actual combat, but their actual combat targets were not Indian devils, but poachers...... There are many state-protected animals on this plateau, such as Tibetan antelope, wild yak, etc., whose fur, horns and even bones can bring great economic benefits, on the other hand, the life of the people on the plateau is very backward and poor, so some people take risks to pick up guns and start poaching, and later the poachers even formed an interest group.

This gave the first battalion a chance to fight, and they usually practiced with these poaching gangs who were familiar with the terrain in the mountains.

But even so, our synthetic battalion easily surpassed the first battalion in training.

This is not something I am proud of, after all, the composite battalion is a unit that has experienced so many battles and is built with advanced equipment and modern tactical theory, and it is normal to have more than one battalion.

Of course, I also know that this kind of surpassing is only in training, but in actual combat...... The synthetic battalion is likely to suffer because of the unfamiliar terrain.

From this point of view, our decision to have the first battalion and the composite battalion train together was the right step, because the two units now seem to be complementary...... The first battalion taught the synthetic battalion the experience of plateau and mountain warfare, and the synthetic battalion taught the first battalion the concept of modern tactics.
